Waitress was pleasant but not very competent. Perhaps she was new...who knows. She took our food order (three pizzas) but didn't write it down. I've had wait staff do this before and we even commented that it seemed like an unusual skill. However, she returned to our table a few minutes later- this time with pad of paper and reiterated our individual orders. I was glad she did because she had gotten my order wrong. I even mentioned that I despised pepperoni and she had mistakenly included it on my pizza order. Thinking it was all sorted out, we waited for our food to arrive but when it did, there it was- a pizza with pepperoni all over it. Of course, I told her that the order was wrong and the manager (I assume) agreed to make me another pizza with the correct ingredients. The other guests in my party were nearly done eating before it arrived. To their credit they did not charge me for the pizza which I thought was a nice gesture and if that had been the end of things I would just chalk it up to "mistakes happen" and be done with it. But when the bill came I noticed on the ticket that it listed three suggestions for a tip- 15%, 20%, and 25%. But the numbers seemed "off". Bill was $38 and the 20% tip was listed as $10.71. When I went to school 20% of $38 is $7.60, not $10.71. I've heard of this happening but I'm very disappointed that they did it. As for the pizza- not bad, really. read more

If you read my reviews. It's all in or all out. That's why we leave them so no sugar coating here. I also read others reviews so I can watch for things. All the negative seems to be over "To Go" or service in the restaurant. I have never gotten anything to go so I can't comment. BUT that being said...I stopped in for lunch. My first time here. I let my server Jenny recommend a sandwich and the beer to go with. So you may think how hard is that? Well, considering the sandwich was WAY more than I expected.. I had to leave a review. Buttery bread, Savory ham, melted Swiss, Roasted tomatoes, Onions that were so caramelized that I would swear it was bacon jam and toss some Banana Peppers on it. YUM!!!! We had 5 in our group and we were treated like family! We were seated in the main dining area and we couldn't see the Braves game. So they moved us to the bar with smiles so we could see the game! Ryan was our server and he was polite and attentive! Great pizza--terrible service. Waiter took our order then 5 minutes later comes back to the table and asks us if we are ready to order...We said we just ordered and then waiter walks off. Another 5 minutes go by and the waiter comes back again and states he didn't put the order in and needs to put it back in. This is our third time eating at this restaurant, first of all our services always been terrific and the food consistently delicious. This includes the one time that we did take out! My wife and I had lunch at the Pizza joint. She had the big Mike sandwich which is a veggie sandwich. I had the Billy club sandwich. Both are flat bread fold over sandwiches. Both are very similar, the difference being that the big Mike is a veggie sandwich and the Billy club has meat with veggies and cheese. The similarity is such that it took several bites to realize the server had mixed them up. The sandwiches were coated in olive oil and parmesan cheese. They were very messy to eat. I went through 4 napkins and my tea glass was a mess. Our server was very nice. Her only hiccup was switching our orders. It was an easy mistake to make, because outwardly they were identical. Honestly I really wanted to try a calzone or a pizza but I've had limited time on my hands so I went ahead and just got dessert. I like to say I wish we have more places that serves the zeppole in Augusta especially at italian restaurants. I'm glad I got this one. I thought about trying a cheesecake but I've been looking at that price I've got better at just getting it store-bought like at Walmart. But I wasn't disappointed in the zeppole. After a long break from Pizza Joint post disappointing visit, we were looking for a dog friendly place to dine and decided to try this place again. It was a solidly good choice! The patio is spacious and yes it's dog friendly. Service was very good . I had a Greek salad & cheese calzone and asked for it to be cooked light. The salad was really cold & fresh. Oh we also had some garlic bites- the marinara was outstanding. My calzone was perfectly cooked and filled to the seam with cheesy goodness. We were very pleased and can't wait to return. read more

My wife and I tried The Pizza Joint for the first time tonight. We started with the mozzarella sticks, that came out hot and fast. More sticks than most places too. We got the large "Big" pizza which I think comes with everything. I must say, I don't think I have ever tasted a better pizza. This is what pizza should taste like. My wife and I stopped by this establishment on our way back from Graniteville South Carolina yesterday. I ordered a slice of margherita pizza she got a slice of white pizza and we shared a chicken caprese after we ordered the bruschetta appetizer. We found the atmosphere to be fine and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The bruschetta appetizer was absolutely fabulous with some tasty balsamic vinegar. My wife really enjoyed her white pizza slice and the chicken caprese sandwich was really good. My slice was really good as well, the only negative that I could find would be that they brought potato chips with the chicken caprese sandwich, nobody wants potato chips.Needless to say, we ordered way too much food and had to take most of it home. This place really hit the spot!! What a pleasure it was to sit outside on a gorgeous evening, eating pizza and drinking wine! Three of us in our group, we all had pizza's and not a single complaint. I had the PJ Margherita and it was absolutely delicious!! Our server was wonderful as we had some questions prior to ordering. She was new, but very knowledgeable and extremely sweet. Very nice sitting outside on a relaxing Sunday afternoon. Service was spot on for the pace of life on this evening. Had the draft Guiness and it was delicious and cold. Pizza wise went with the Jerk chicken as it comes with Pineapple on ! Negative now would have got 5 stats but they appeared to put the parmesan cheese on the pizza before serving and I'm not a fan of that. Also I noticed chefs out the front of the restaurant smoking. Consistently good. Great pizza. We recommend ordering a full pie. Pizza Joint is great for large groups, kids, and parties of all sizes. The dining room can get really loud. Not necessarily a quiet date night restaurant, but if you sit in the bar area, it is a bit quieter there. The beer selection is awesome. My husband grew up eating pizza from Pizza Joint! He and i come here often. We usually get pretty good service. Tho, their staff is comprised of mostly younger people, with (i believe) a mostly high turnover rate, so sometimes the service can be lackluster. Last night, for instance, there was a hostess who was probably new. She apparently did not inform the waitress stationed on our table that she had seated us there. We waited ten minutes before our waitress came to even begin our drink order. The waitress was super sweet tho, and she made up for it. We believe her name is Cal. We have had her before. Order was as requested. You have to pickup takeouts at the bar. 1 Bartender was busy with the bar, tables around the bar, fulfilling all alcoholic tickets in the entire restaurant and takeouts. There was a little wait due to how busy the bartender was and her responsibilities. On a Friday night at dinner time, there should be at least 2 bartenders to handle the responsibilities. read more

First of all, I've never had a problem with Pizza Joint since they opened in the 90s until tonight. We first sat on the porch and ordered a pitcher. It never came. I went to the bar and asked them where it was. They said they never got the ticket. We decided to sit at the bar then hoping to get better service. Nope! I have ordered pizza for pickup several times from Pizza Joint, but until now I had never dined in. Being in the downtown area and being hungry, we decided to stop in. All the pizzas we have gotten here have been very good, so we were tempted to get another one, but we opted to try the Stromboli instead. I got the deluxe Stromboli, my daughter the regular, and my wife the philly. My Stromboli was packed with meat and cheese, and came with a side of marinara sauce. It was big enough for two people and tasted delicious. My wife and daughter both liked theirs as well. The restaurant has a comfortable atmosphere with a bar. There is also a patio area with seating. I'm so sad!!! I'm not sure what's happened but it isn't good. We've been ordering the Greek salad at my office for a very long time. It's used to be a great value, at about $13.50 with chicken and artichokes added (approx. $3). Last week we ordered it (quantity of 3, mind you) and it was all sooooo different. Less of everything. A different kind of lettuce and the chicken, which we paid for, was about 1/4 of a breast chopped. I got the salad today and the same thing.... Hardly any chicken. But today, also no dough balls. When I brought it to the attention of the bar tender, her response was, "A previous chef wasn't properly portioning out the chicken, this is the correct amount. And dough balls never came on the salad." Excuse me?!?!? And she was incredibly snarky with her tone and her expression. I brought it back to the office and we all decided we are done with ordering salads there. That's at least a 6-10 salad a month loss for them. read more

Made a reservation for trivia night. When we arrived, we were informed the manager made a mistake and took the reservation for a previous date. We were not the only party this happened to this evening. Fast forward to getting a table, we went 15 mins without a greeting and an additional 30 mins to receive our drinks. Our appetizers made it to the table before our drinks. After being told my chosen beer was no longer available and another guests wine was sold out, it took an additional 20 mins to receive our drinks. When I received my beer, it was not the one I had ordered. The pizza I received, after an hour at the table, was incredibly dry. When I say there was no sauce, I am not exaggerating. It was completely dry with extremely dry meats piled on top. Combine that with the impossibility at getting drink refills, having to virtually beg for more adult beverages, and the complete inattentiveness of the collective staff, and I am EXTREMELY unlikely to return. This is without a doubt the worst trip to a restaurant I have ever attended. I used to manage a restaurant for 4 years, prior to that I was bartender and a server. I know what an unorganized cluster looks like. Anyone with a single iota of a semblance of what customer server should resemble would see that this restaurant has extreme issues. read more
