If you were to review the video of our transaction last night, you would have quickly noticed, my husband had no reason to hide anything. We were not aware of your strict policies of bringing in anything from the outside and would not have done it if it had not been for a medical emergency. We didn't call ADA, just called you out for the rude way voiced your request. A video review and customers in your establishment can quickly confirm my husband put the can down on your counter when speaking with your hostess and only picked it up to sit and wait for a table to be cleaned. You then proceeded tell us to leave, you did not accept outside trash and you sold refreshments there. I would have had much more respect if you could have genuinely apologized for the error, which despite your claim, is not what you did yesterday or in your response below. Thank you for your input. My husband is a Type 1 diabetic and his blood sugar was 70 and dropping rapidly just before leaving forthe restaurant. Jersey Italian by background. Family is from the Napolitano area (San Fele, small county town) Food: I had the antipasto, which was tasty. Husband had a pizza which he said was good just slightly soggy. Overall, pretty decent. Ambiance: Low key. A few too many rules and upcharges ($6 for any substitutions etc) on the menu for my taste. However, I respect any small business's decision to run their establishment the way they see best and fit for them. They are, at least, up front about it. Service: Hard to assess because it isn't traditional service style. You are given a table then handed plates and silverware. You go up front to order etc. Suggestions: I know I read somewhere that they haven't found a gluten free dough that's up to their standards ... but if they do I'd love to give it a go. I had missed this place because the reviews weren't that great, but frankly I'm not sure if people know what they're reviewing. I will say the service model is a little odd; you get a table, review a menu which is online only (by QR code), and then order at a counter. You pay only after you eat, which I assume is partially because you might want dessert, and theirs looked impressive but there was no way I had room for it on this visit. The Neapolitan style of pizza is not well known around here, but it emphasizes high quality flour, tomatoes, and mozzarella cheese without a lot of spices or other flavors. The pizzas are a large-ish personal size and cook quickly in a hot oven, with a hint of charred crust that is intentional and adds a distinctive flavor. I came, however, for their New Haven style, a favorite of mine that I was able to compare with what I got on a recent walk down Wooster street (where this pizza style comes from). Theirs is heavy on the provolone and oregano, but in terms of shape and appearance, it was not that different than what I got at Sally's. Getting a salad was a good decision as mine was a decent size and had a flavorful dressing that I only needed half of. I started by pulling a bottled cola from their drink freezer, and it was a distinctive citrus-y brand of soda that I'd never had before; it was a delightful flavor, albeit with an aftertaste. I would like to come back for some of the more Neapolitan options as they do have buffalo mozzarella. I would also like to point out that they do mark their menu options for vegetarian concerns and will offer vegan cheese or cheese-free pies. I have not found much in the way of high-end pizza in the CSRA, so I will likely be returning here and there will be plenty of things for me to try. read more

Pizzas are pretty good - crusts are soggy (too quickly close to flame without allowing base to fully cook and crisp up as well as overloaded toppings while delicious, adding too much liquid. Service model is a disaster - greeted from behind a plexiglass barrier (Covid is long over), no paper menus mean consumer need to try to read on phone which is a disservice to both diner and restaurant - no clear understanding of available offerings - no eye to key items, promotional add-ons, appetizers...forget desserts. You have to get up to order including water and wine...no service utensils for antipasti - how do we get it on to our plastic plates? - No table touches for how'd dinner, clearing or reorders of wine...a big miss for restaurant and diner. Cheap plastic plates and silverware - wine glasses have "Christmas themed etchings - huh? No details of wines offered though good quality and value at $10. Manager/owner is behind counter making pies...staff in cut-off shorts and sloppy. No sense of hospitality. Overall - a $100 bill for a very poor "fast casual" experience. Maybe okay for take out but pies are $16-21 for 12" with NO ATMOSPHERE (Did I mention have the store room is in dining room - nice) and NO SERVICE and NO HOSPITALITY. Listen up, everyone! As a 100% Italian, I'm one of the few people here qualified to give this place a proper review . People complain about it being too soggy, undercooked, or lacking toppings--absolute nonsense. This is a perfectly authentic Italian pizza. If you know good food, you know this is the kind of quality you usually only find in top-tier restaurants in major cities like LA or NY, or back in Italy itself. It is absolutely worth every penny. Sure, you can go to a chain and pay half the price, but you're just paying for unrisen dough, low-quality ingredients, and zero wood-fired aroma. So for food this place is an easy 5 stars. It's safe to say that you won't find better (i.e., higher quality, since "better" can be somewhat subjective) pizza in the whole CSRA. They offer a wide selection of pizza and calzone options to suit any taste, including those with dietary restrictions, and everything is awesome. The pizza is cooked to perfection with cheese that's just melted (no charred toppings) and a crust that's simultaneously floppy and slightly charred. Portions are huge and one pizza could probably feed two adults without an issue, but it's more fun to get two different types to try new things! The dining room is no nonsense. Nothing too fancy because you're there to eat good pizza, not be wowed by a fancy establishment. I'm down with that! The service is where 4 stars comes in. This is complicated because, to be clear, I'm a huge fan of this place serving and maintaining authentic Neapolitan pizza. It's awesome to be able to get something other than the mellow mushroom style huge pizza pies. However, they are quite aggressive about their pizza, to the point that i find it a little off putting, even to someone (like me) who is 100% in favor of their purist approach. They've got these manifestos printed out and pasted throughout the restaurant, not only explaining what true neopolitan pizza is, but pedantically lambasting their customers about their ignorant pizza preferences. Just look at their responses to Yelp reviews for an example of this. I think there's a way to point out the value in preserving an authentic style without belittling your customer base. I ordered the "New Haven" apizza, which was NOTHING like New Haven apizza. It was greasy and the crust was floppy. I used to live between New Haven and NYC and this didn't even vaguely resemble the pizza from that area. Aside from the bad pizza, their customer service is awful. Well, Cliff, I was born and raised in Fairfield and lived in West Haven for 12 years. I have eaten pizza at Zuppardi's, Pepe's, Sally's and Modern, in addition to the Apizza Center in Fairfield, which was my first apizza experience as a child. I don't leave many negative reviews, but this experience deserves a completely honest one. From the moment my group walked in, the atmosphere felt cold and unwelcoming. We were greeted with a dismissive attitude, and when I politely asked where the trash can was, the woman at the counter ignored me. They seat you like a dine-in restaurant but then require you to get up and place your order at the counter -- and still make you pay at the end. I even tried to pay when I ordered, and they told me I couldn't. The whole system is confusing and does not match the dine-in presentation. They also have multiple online menus with different prices, and when asked about correcting them, they refuse. The man in the back -- I was told he is Cliff, the owner -- made a comment about "no outside food or drinks." I explained the bottle I carried in was empty and that we were drinking items purchased from the restaurant. He doubled down and said, "no outside trash either," and told me to put it in my car. For context: there is no trash can outside the building at all. I had to walk to another store in the same strip mall to throw away a 16-oz bottle. The pettiness and attitude -- especially from the owner -- were unprofessional and unnecessary. When I came back inside, the experience was already ruined, so I canceled my order. Two people in my group, who have eaten here before, ordered meatballs and a pizza for the table. I tried the food with them, and unfortunately, the food didn't make up for the service: The pizza was slightly cold even though it looked burnt. The brick oven clearly isn't seasoned well -- the pizza was almost flavorless. The meatballs were not good and were cold. Our portions were tiny and served on cheap plates. The table next to us received much larger meatballs on completely different plates. My group members who had been here before said the portions used to be much bigger. The inconsistency in portion size and presentation was obvious. Throughout the visit, Cliff behaved as if he didn't want to serve us at all. His tone and attitude created an uncomfortable atmosphere from start to finish. The only positive thing I can say is that they use a traditional brick oven -- but even that couldn't save the flavor or the overall experience. Between the rude behavior, dismissive service, confusing ordering system, inconsistent online menus, lack of trash cans, bland food, portion inconsistencies, and the owner's unprofessional conduct, this was easily one of my worst dining experiences. Second time visiting this wonderful slice (or unsliced) piece of pizza heaven. Today was a quick lunch for us, so we didn't have time to linger over appetizers or desserts this time. I wanted a Nuda, but my husband's appetite called for something a bit more substantial, so the Calabrese was the choice! Husband ordered a beer (from a wide selection) and I had a soft drink. Our pizza was out to us in a flash! What I love most about the pizza here is that it's really, truly, flavorful. You could taste each element of the pizza - the sauce, the artichoke, the salami, the mushrooms, the olives and the perfect amount of cheese all come together for an excellent flavor. The crust is to die for. My husband never eats the end of the crusts on pizza, but he does here! Unlike some pizza places, these pizzas aren't covered in a greasy layer of chewy cheese and thick crust that overtakes the flavor of the toppings. It's all perfectly proportioned and 100% delicious. We ordered takeout and decided to ask if we could eat there once we arrived. When we asked if we could do that, the staff hesitated, even though there was only one table occupied. The owner/manager said they don't do call-in's and made some lame excuses and even berated us for wasting a box. I am Italian (like actually Italian with dual citizenship) and I can unequivocally say this is the best, most authentic pizza I have had in the US. We are so fortunate to have a gem like this right here in Aiken. Does it take a little extra time on busy days because they make everything to order by hand? Yes, it does. Sit there and enjoy the company you're dining with like a civilized person. Can you order a supreme pizza with a bunch of garbage ingredients on it? No, you cannot. The three different pizzas we ordered were all nearly raw in the center with varying degrees of grease and moisture. The salad dressing was purple and sweet like bbq sauce and so thick and glossy I would be shocked to witness its creation in the establishment (as it's stated in the menu that they make it in house) and not surprised to see it paddled out of a plastic jug. A Margheritta pizza should not have a puddle of grease in the center. I refuse to believe that is authentic Neapolitan pizza. The service is abysmal. As stated, we ordered three pizzas. We also ordered the fried eggplant appetizer and three salads. After the first two pizzas arrived, the small four-top table was over-full with dishes and the server holding our third pizza indicated that it was up to us to find room for the third. Shouldn't it be up to the server to ensure the patrons are comfortable and not feeling over crowded? There were two pizza stands visible at the main counter, seems like someone who works there should of brought one over. We asked for water for the four of us, two adults two kids one 15 one 11. We were given three plastic cups and a styrofoam cup with a lid. My wife took the styrofoam cup to the counter and asked the girl working if we could get a normal water cup instead. The worker didn't say a word to her but turned around to ask an older man what to do. The man proceeded to look at our daughter for a long moment, presumably attempting to ascertain if she could handle the responsibility of a plastic water cup, before given his permission. The plates we ate from were plastic, the condiment holder on the table was covered in greasy dust, that which collects from long use with zero cleaning. The accolades mounted on the wall, alluding to the establishment's quality, were from the food service companies the restaurant orders its ingredients from. I respected the note of 'Uncut' on the menu for certain pizzas and the note stating 'Do not ask us to cut these pizzas'. That gave me the sense that they were truly dedicated to tradition. But I lost all respect when they delivered our 'Uncut' pizza with a pizza slicer. Save your money, unless you enjoy a lot of empty gesturing about 'authentic' and 'quality', and spend about $12 on a frozen pizza at the store and cook it properly. read more

All the reviews mentioning what a jerk the owner is are correct. My parents had given me a prepaid Mastercard e-card for my birthday and this restaurant was suggested by Mastercard. When I went to pay, he told me he didn't accept gift cards. I explained that this worked like any other Mastercard. I tried to calmly explain that this was simply a prepaid card and he kept coming up with some excuse why he couldn't use it ("I need a CVV, and an expiration date," etc.) until eventually he just accused me off trying to perpetrate fraud. What a charming thing to say to your customers. I reported this to Mastercard and was told that he had called them too and been told that this was legitimate. I won't expect an apology in his inevitable response and he shouldn't ever expect my business again. We visited Aiken from Atlanta and were in search of good pizza. This is some of the best pizza I've had outside of Italy. It is true Neapolitan style. This means it's thin and cooked extremely hot and made with the highest quality ingredients. The dining room is no frills but perfect for eating pizza. I don't love that you have to go to the table to get the menu using a QR code and then order at the counter. But it's worth it for the pizza. Also, the cannoli was great! A friend in Augusta recommended this hidden gem when I mentioned that my husband had been on a pizza kick lately. We drove around an hour to get to an unassuming location in a strip mall. We were greeted upon entry and told to pick a table number then order at the front counter for dine in. There are two tables outside and tables and booths inside. After you order, pick up plates, silverware, and drink cups. You pay after eating. Carbonated drinks and water are self-serve. We ordered the garlic Parmesan cheese curds and they were so good. You could tell these thinly breaded curds were handmade. This appetizer was piping hot and delicious without being overwhelming. The pizza came out hot - a thin, hand-tossed pie and quality sauce. You can taste the difference in this wood-fired crust. We made the mistake of ordering two pizzas but one could easily be shared. At least we got to taste two different toppings, though! I built my own with extra cheese, ground beef, and spinach and my husband got the Carcerato. Our dessert cannoli came after they cleared the plates and brought a box for leftover pizza, and the server also brought two fresh forks. The cannoli was at a cool temperature and the custard inside was fresh, creamy ricotta marked with citrus overtones. The regular cannoli was a great size for sharing and a perfect finish to the meal, but the mini cannolis sound like fun options too. So this was the most disappointing yet most expensive poor quality food I've had in aiken. We walked in and were told if we ordered a pizza it would take 60-90 mins. So we decided to go with apps. The potions are TINY. Don't let the prices fool you...the apps are not even enough for 1 person much less to share. And everything we had was absolutely from the freezer.
