I don't get exactly what all the hype is about Mellow Mushroom. The last time we ate around 2 years ago we decided we would not go back to MM but we decided to give it another try tonight. We are still far from impressed. Our party ordered 3 kinds of pizzas and all were soggy, heavy and overloaded with much too much gloppy cheese (if there is such thing as too much cheese on a pizza). And they were not hot when brought to our table. They simply were not good. I have no plans to return to MM for pizza in the future. Maybe we need to get a calzone or some other such menu item and we will have better luck. read more

Food was good , service was decent , prices are a bit high for what you get. $20 for a medium pizza seems a bit too much , but had a good flavor. Waiter seemed like a good kid but wasn't overly attentive to us. Also this has been the ONLY place we have eaten while traveling that mandates a mask...lame.... read more

Great place! My boyfriend and I came here on a Sunday to watch some football. We had great service and the food was yummy! I love that they have a build your own salad option. Their spring mix is great, and I'm obsessed with their balsamic dressing. My boyfriend always gets their buffalo chicken pizza, which is hardy and delicious. Of course, after my salad I was craving something sweet. We split their peanut butter cookie, which they served warm with an ice cream sundae on top. It's not an elaborate dessert, but it definitely hit the spot! Our waitress was so friendly and never made us feel rushed as we hung out and watched the game. Showed up at Mellow Mushroom in the middle of a fundraiser for a local children's charity. The place was packed. Wasn't expecting to get great service but we were quickly helped and our server was on her game. We ordered the meaty pizza and cheesy bread. I also added a beer or two. The cheesy bread and the pizza were both delicious. Much better than anticipated. I can't remember the exact name of the beer, but it was an Ale with "Atalanta" in the name. Is was really good. Due to the number of people at the restaurant we never made it inside, instead taking a seat on the patio area. From what I could see the restaurant is very nice. It was a nice evening, and I really enjoyed the patio. Overall I was really impressed by the restaurant and staff. I will return. read more

Wait staff and manager were rude. Tables were closed at 6:30 pm due to no waitress. People were in waiting area and outside and not allowed to sit at tables due to lack of wait staff. Other waitresses were not allowed to wait unstaffed table. it felt like they didn't care if you ate there or not. I found it strange that they kept people waiting outside when tables were open. Great food! But when the regulars sit at the bar and constantly curse with F bombs and nothing can be done except to ask them to leave, but won't! We won't be back!!! Went there 3 times and the third time was the worse. The other two visits were fine, bartenders were attentive. I went on a Saturday, the place was not very busy, The third bartender spent more time talking than pouring drinks, constantly in the back, not attentive, at least not to me. So glad to see Mellow Mushroom making a come-back and branching out in the Carolinas! We always enjoyed it when we lived in Charlotte. A really good pizza starts with a really good crust, and this crust is great! We ordered one of their specialty pizzas right off the menu, and not a bite of that pizza was left! One of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in a while. First thing was we sat for 15 min until anyone came up to our our table. One of the people in my party ordered an appetizer and it took 20 min. I ordered an appetizer and a pizza after that, the appetizer came out in 25 min and the pizza in 40. The table ordered their food when my pizza came out and they waited an hour for their food. Our waitress disappeared for majority of our time here. This Mellow Mushroom is great! The atmosphere is very cool & the service is above most local restaurants around. Everything that I have tried from here has been wonderful. I tend to always order the cheese calzone though. I am a lover of way too much cheese and bread! My sons cheese pizza slice for $2.50 was big and delicious too. I use to eat mellow mushroom pizza religiously in high school, while I was growing up in Greenville. So, you can imagine my excitement when I heard one was coming to Aiken. Now that I finally had the chance to come here and eat, I am pleased. My family and I received great service on the patio from our server, Ashley, and the food was good. Ate here tonight with a large group. I would not go back. This restaurant appears to be run by a bunch of young kids and it's horrible. Service was pretty poor. They don't serve bottled water but serve tap water that tastes like bleach and smells like sewage. Food was a 3 out of 10 and that's being generous. One of our guests ordered wine and the server brought a filthy glass to the table which she gave back and asked for a clean one (again these young people just don't care) and 10 mins later the waitress brought a plastic cup and stated the dishwasher broke. Gross and unsanitary. Another guest asked about the wine and the waitress had no clue and basically said just read the back of the wine list. Very rude. She had no clue what wines they served. We got a drink list with no wine listed so we had to request the list. The waitress walked past our table many many times and never took any empty plates through our meal. I manage a restaurant and we always teach our staff never walk in or out without something in your hands meaning you are constantly working. This staff needs proper training and they need a proper manager. Will absolutely not go back here again. I'm sorry but I hope you use this information as a way to improve. read more

Beautiful! Compared to what else was open on a Tuesday night when you guys had to be closed. The staff was amazing when I visited. The pizza is the bomb. Thank you for carrying vegan cheese. Love it. The pretzels are too salty, the pizza is flimsy, the food was long, and the waiters suck in general. One was watching the TV, wearing their apron. Worst of all, the toilets flush too soon. The booth seats were wet and the table was also wet. They also put too much mozzarella powder on the pizza which got on my slacks. My mom asked for no onion, which they put on anyways. read more

I typically enjoy Mellow Mushroom restaurants and have eaten at many throughout the Southeast. This location is by far the worst. The management is totally inept and the service is terrible. It took 30 minutes to get seated(there were plenty of open tables) and another 30 minutes to get a beer. The waitress brought us a plastic fork and knife. When we asked why, she said that the servers usually throw the metal silverware away. ONLY in AIKEN! The food was mediocre and it took another 30 minutes to get the check. Never again! TERRIBLE in every way! I am not one to write bad reviews but the experience I had the other night was atrocious. The customer service was HORRIBLE. We were seated promptly at 6:30. We were not seen until 6:50, it then took multiple times asking where our drinks were for them to finally arrive to our table. By 7:10 we finally had drinks and had to request ordering appetizers as they were not offered to us. This restaurant was out of 5 things we tried to order initially, which ok fine no big deal. We finally received our appetizers 45 min later (7:55). They were Sporadic in arrival time which made it difficult. We then finally were able to order food AGAIN by asking as it was not suggested to us "are y'all ready to order" NONE of that around 7:30. Finally around 8:15 a salad type meal (main course) was delivered to 1/6 people. At 8:30 two of us were told that they were OUT of burgers and our meal could not be made! AN HOUR plus after ordering!!! We then decided we would order a "quick" appetizer just to get out of there. I was served mushroom soup (without a spoon) that was so cold I could pick it up and eat it if I had desired to with a fork. The other member of our party was served meatballs that were a very strange color. When other food finally arrived just before those second appetizers it was distributed to the wrong people and STONE cold. The calzones looked as though they had been left in the fridge. We never received any drink refills and it was ridiculous to even ask for extra sauce or a SPOON you know for the soup I ordered.... which inevitably never came. Finally after 2 hours and 20 minutes we left unsatisfied, hungry, and upset. The manager came over after our request and told us there was no excuse but that was the best answer she could give. She informed us she was busy counting inventory and did not check up on ANY of the tables for the timeframe we were seated. She offered us coupons. Which "shockingly" we NEVER received, we were also charged for a majority of our orders. DESPITE the horrible service, stone cold food, insane wait time, and lack of a pleasant experience. Our server had started the night by telling us that she was BRAND new. She was not guided and any sort of manor. Simply thrown to a large party and fed to the sharks. She was not once checked up on. If I was her I would quit. The management was horrendous. It is not the BRAND NEW servers fault for all of the unacceptable events that occurred. If she is to blame for anything it would be our empty glasses. I am utterly disappointed in the management and this restaurant as a whole. It was a complete disaster and disgusting for how we were treated. I am sickened having to write this as I again NEVER write poor reviews. But our experience cannot go without saying. I would not recommend this restaurant and I most certainly will not be returning. read more

Poor customer service. The hostess was so rude. My husband forgot a mask, he went outside and was going to walk around and meet us on the patio since we wanted to eat outside anyway. She said we couldn't be in the building without a mask, which I respect, that's why I told her he would just meet us outside. She literally threw her pen down and yelled "I'm not dealing with the this". I swear to y'all I was polite and nice, she freaked out for no reason. We all have to deal with this mask stuff, there's no reason to be a jerk. I was shocked and said we'll just find somewhere else. She said "I don't give a shit" and walked off. I didn't get her name, but she has long-ish red hair and crazy eyes. If I acted like that at my job I would be fired. My husband went and bought a mask and we still ate there because we love the restaurant and we're not psychos. I don't know what they do for their pizza and pretzel dough, but it is different and I like it. They have great chicken wings and their pizza is good across the board. Today, I visited this restaurant with my daughter and her husband. We ordered salads and a pizza. The salads were supposed to come out first. After 30 minutes we asked when would we get the salads and were told they should be coming up any time. In about 10 more minutes, we got the salads and about five minutes later, the pizza, which of course meant the pizza was cold because we were eating the salad first. When we placed our order, we also placed a to go order. Our server said let her know about 10 minutes before we were to leave - though we couldn't catch her eye, we asked another server to remind her we needed the to go order to be placed. When we finally did speak to our server, she said the other one had not told her to put it in. At least sitting there so long gave us opportunity to witness another waitress setting a table, dropping silverware on the floor, picking it up walking down the hall with it and back and placing the silverware she'd dropped on the floor back on the table. The wait would not have been so bad had the restaurant been busy. It was not even half filled. Sorry, Yellow Mushroom, you need better help. read more

Unfortunately as delicious as the pizza is, the service is very lacking. The little twist at the front cash register are more interested in talking to each other than helping customers. We had a party of seven and the little girl with the braid (I know her name but should I tell you?) was rude to all of us ONE at a time. We just asked if there was a large party.
