As some of the previous reviews, I think MegMade is experiencing growing pains. I initially came upon them via Instagram and was excited to see the style and design that they refinished pieces with. After taking a look at their site I discovered they offered refinishing services.
After exchanging emails and determining the cost to have bar cart refinished, over $500, for the particular type of stain I wanted and adding a shelf. I dropped in and discussed what I wanted done, picked out a stain color/style to match an existing piece they had on the showroom floor and left confident they knew what they were doing and the money would be worth it. I was told that once the team looked it over they would let me know if the shelf could be added, not a big deal if it couldn't. Fast forward several weeks, no follow-up. I sent an email trying to confirm if the shelf was going to be added but no one responded. Then, on the day it was supposed to be completed I decided I'd call to confirm I could pick it up. Calling, it was as if they had no idea about the piece. After being on hold, they said it would be done a few days later...that's fine, but certainly started to raise a red flag.
Stopping in they brought out the cart, and something was off. I realized the color was incorrect and no shelf was added (which I paid extra for). Meg happened to be in the showroom so I mentioned this, assuming as a business owner she would want to understand any issue that might have popped up with a customer's project. She came across very disinterested but offered to have it refinished, quickly blaming the mistake on a former employee. As a business, I would not put fault on someone else as the excuse and take ownership. We confirmed the correct direction, agreed to not add the shelf, and that it would be expedited. Totally fine, just as long as it was refinished like I had asked.
After leaving I thought perhaps it was just a fluke. Fast forward a few more weeks, with no response on progress...I called and left a voicemail. When I didn't receive a call back a few days later I called and left a stern vm stating that if I didn't receive an update I just wanted a refund. They promptly called me and left a voicemail that it would be done the next day. I stopped in to pick-up during the week and they said it was on the truck for delivery...they offered to deliver on Saturday (today) at 11am at no charge. Great, after being late by 3 hours I finally got the cart.
Let's just say I am not impressed. At first glance it looks very nice. But if you look closer you can see where there is sloppy craftsmanship. Paint drips, the shelf they added, which I probably would not have agreed as the shape doesn't match the style of the piece, oh and has a chip in it. Also, there are random white paint marks on the legs and wheels.
IF I were to visit/buy from them, it would likely only be pieces in their showroom and not have them finish of existing pieces. I definitely don't think what I spent on the piece is worth it.
Some advice, transparency and communication is key. A simple update, confirmation would have been somewhat helpful. read more
