I can't think of invective adequately hate-filled to describe this company. But I don't need strong language; a mere accurate description should suffice. I had a very passive website, SharingTheEarth.net, which served only as a container for my late father's book. Time came, as usual, to renew the domain name, and I instructed MegaPath to do so. They were happy to oblige, for a fee, and I didn't think about it again. (For the tech savvy: I had tried to renew directly through NSI, but was told that, because of the way SharingTheEarth.net was originally set up, through Speakeasy, they could not accept payment except through my ISP.) The site really didn't do anything except offer the text to a few hundred visitors per month, and I seldom checked it. When I next did, months later, I found a nondescript placeholder page with Japanese characters. What emerged, after multiple discussions with MegaPath tech support, is that MegaPath never did the renewal, even though they had received my request, which they acknowledged at the time in a work order ticket. (I have an email trail for everything I say here.) The registration expired and a couple months later a Tokyo-based domain name squatter picked it up. Thus MegaPath had lost the domain name I had used for many years. My mother had chosen the title before she died. Now I can't get it back. At some point during this period, Global Capacity took over MegaPath's network services business unit. I want the reader to know that absolutely nothing changed. The people, the infrastructure, the corporate culture remained exactly the same. In my case, Global Capacity acknowledged that for half a year they had levied monthly web hosting charges for a website that didn't exist, but refused to give a refund -- "...I don't believe you qualify for the credits" -- even though Global Capacity was not and could not possibly have been providing a service. The refund refusal is emblematic of a larger issue: MegaPath's accounting department has been out of control -- or committing fraud -- for over a year. Double charges started appearing: a years-obsolete physical address somehow still in their records had newly been re-interpreted as a second site. When called on it, MegaPath did not issue a refund, but applied the overcharges as credit for future payments. Last fall I and many other customers were hit out of nowhere with a fictitious "Regulatory Recovery Surcharge"; again, this was restored as future credit, rather than a refund. These systematic charges are undeniable facts, and their undeniable effect was that MegaPath wrote itself free loans, with customers paying the interest. Whether the overcharges were intentional (for example, so MegaPath could make its books look good for the Global Capacity acquisition) is a matter for a state attorney general or the Federal Trade Commission to decide. read more

When Megapath commandeered Covad, they have systematically degraded services, until there is little remaining of what used to be there. I used Covad for fixed IP and DNS services for a small data center. I used their DNS zone portal for managing my DNS and MX records. Now that they have revoked access to this DNS zone portal, I have no way of directly managing my DNS configuration which is still hosted there now; I have 1 hosted email service with them for $10/month which I need to reconfigure and cancel, but I don't even have access to the portal that would let me do that. I need to add MX routing for a 2nd email box but don't have the ability to do that either. I need to add 1 parked domain name to my list of domains which I no longer have access to do. Their degraded services make them essentially identical to any plain DSL vendor, and yet their service costs approximately 3 times as much. I am struggling to figure out why I should continue to pay for Megapath service. P.S. The [Help] link on their email page http://webmail.covad.net/hwebmail/#/mail/ is broken. I can't even ask for help. ............................................................... Here is an update. Megapath are idiots! I am now on my 4th phone call after 4 days, trying to cancel the hosted email service with 1 of my domains. They haven't got a clue to save themselves on how to do this and barely understand my request. Tech support keeps sending me to 'billing'. Billing sends me back to 'tech support'. Everyone pointed me to www.megapath.com/cancellation which only gives me the option of cancelling all of my DSL service, not a specific service. Then they logged a ticket to cancel my whole domain! Which is a business web site! I DO NOT WANT MY BUSINESS DOMAIN CANCELLED! Oh my @#%!@#$% god! I only want the email add-on service cancelled. How can they possibly be this stupid. I no longer care how much it costs. I want a service provider who are not a bunch of idiots. I can't stand this any more. Please someone save me and get me away from these people. read more

Okay...just came across this page and had to add my .02 cents. Our company signed up for MegaPath's MPLS fully managed services 2 years ago and we're so glad we did. We got several T1's, one 20/Mb Ethernet handoff, SSL, IDS, the whole package. From the get-go it was clear that MegaPath was ahead of the curve compared to the competition from several angles (trust me...I put vendors through the ringer on this project). The account management and technical teams were always readily available and most importantly accessible! Of course, as with any technical project, there were some minor hiccups here and there, but technical wrinkles were to be expected - but what really mattered most is that they were dealt with in a timely and professional manner. The after support is where the rubber always meets the road with providers. After 2 years of service, we've added additional circuits to our cloud and are planning for a contract renewal. I can't speak for the residential folks (sorry), but for business, I would highly recommend MegaPath. Their products and solutions are innovative and their team just gets it (for those IT Pros out there...you know what I mean). I have over a decade of dealing with just about every major telecom company in the industry (the good, the bad and the straight out ugly) and I'd like to believe that I can assess good value and service when I not only see it, but experience it. As you will see by my Yelp post history that I am by no means an avid Yelper, but after coming across this page, I just felt compelled to share my own personal MegaPath experience. If you're looking for competitive value, knowledgeable engineers and good service, don't get caught up...you owe it to your business or project to add MegaPath to your vendor call list and give them a shot and see for yourself. You'll be glad you did. Personally, I guess I'm just one of those "watch the movie for myself" kind of people. I guess you can say I'm officially a "MegaPath-ER" and yep...I'm proud of it! read more

I am a solutions provider and am familiar with a number of providers for hosted VoIP. I was a certified site survey engineer for SpeakEasy before they were bought by MegaPath. I had dozens of SpeakEasy DSL and VoIP implementations under my belt. Long after the transition to MegaPath I thought I'd revisit their solution for Ethernet and hosted VoIP. I recommended my client sign up for the service when launching their new business with a dozen phones and a 25MB pipe. MegaPath could not deliver on their promises delaying any Internet service for weeks. Eventually call quality and outages had MegaPath doubling the bandwidth and throwing free equipment to save the deal. For the better part of 9 months the customer relied exclusively on their cell phones and sometimes on a MiFi hotspot for internet access. I gave MegaPath the benefit of the doubt and switch my own 2-lines to the service to test and see for myself how it was. I used one desk phone and the softphone app for Android. Neither worked at all. Tech support was marginally more effective than I was on my own. I ported all my numbers away to RingCentral and advised my client to do the same. MegaPath would not cancel service until I waited on hold for one particular person to accept a verbal confirmation to cancel the service. Mean while I continue to get monthly bills for 7-months after all numbers have been ported away. They also are accruing monthly late fees after I told them that they did not deliver service and there for they breached contract. I am refusing to pay and am now telling my clients and anyone that will listed to run from MegaPath.... ... They can NOT deliver! read more

It is hard to express how much I agree with EVERY complaint on here. We, too, were Speakeasy clients and we were very happy. Ever since the merger with Megapath we have has nothing but problems. We have lost both internet and VOIP connectivity for several hours at a time with out an explanation. We had to call, wait on hold for more than 20 minutes at time, only to be given no information regarding the reason for the lost connection or when we could expect service to be restored. This has all occured during regular business hours and I am quite certain has resulted in loss of revenue. Furthermore, their customer service could not possibly be worse. We had a connection through AT&T who is notorious for bad service and even they don't hold a candle to Megapath. Their techs know absolutely nothing about their equipment and refer me to my IT professional each and every time I call. The last several time we have called it took more than 10 minutes for their operator to simply locate our account. At one point, I was told that we did not have an account with them to which I responded "Does that mean I don't need to pay the invoice in front of me?" Finally, don't even bother to ask for a manager because you can hold until eternity or let their techs tell you that you will get a call back until they are blue in the face, but no manager ever seems to surface. It is only a matter of time until these guys put themselves out of business, but I recommend you don't prolong the process by wasting your money with this sham of an operation. read more

I feel a little foolish for not checking out the reviews before even making contact with Megapath for now I am having an issue with them which could of been avoided should I have known this company is this shady and unethical. I requested that I get 10 sip trunks, totaling $20 per line monthly. My account wasn't setup till way after I signed an agreement with them because the agents dragged out the account setup process. After my account was finally setup and our office made the switch from our original provider, our phone quality dropped drastically and my company suffered a huge loss that week we made the switch. I emailed the agents at Megapath that set my account up to cancel my account that same week, which was within the thirty days of which the services was provided. Now I am getting a lawsuit for $9800 against my company on the grounds that I didn't cancel thirty days after I signed the agreement which seems to me to be very unethical and feels very much like bait and switch. I requested a usage report to show that the service started way after than the day I signed, and proves that we've used the services for no more than a week. The attorney they have against me claims that a usage report is "irrelevant" and continues to press my company for $9800 because I requested a cancellation pass the thirty day of my signature. Am I to pay them 9800 for 4-5 days of usage? I think not. read more

My client has been on Megapath two years and we recently upgraded to a faster bandwidth. First off, Corina has been great. I did a lot of research before I suggested Megapath and Corina was my contact for Megapath. She did a great job of defining the services and was very responsive to all my questions and concerns. The first installation went well, there were a few hiccups, but nothing out of the ordinary. The service was as promised. As my clients needs grew we felt there was a need to upgrade the service. I contacted Corina and though she changed jobs, she was helpful in making sure I was taken care. The second installation, also had some hiccups, but that was a combination of timing and the hoildays. We are on a 5 x 5 mbps bandwidth and the download is in that neighborhood. The upload is a little slow and that will be looked into. Again, when I contacted Corina she has been very responsive and helpful.. Why I haven't given 5 stars is becuase I am waiting to see what happens in getting the upload close to 5 mbps. I have seen the other reviews and am a little surprised by the number of negative reviews. Having been in the technolgy arena over 40 years, I have seen the bad and the good and the bad is not fun. But, it can happen with any provider it is how they handle that makes a difference. So far, Corina for Megapath, has done an excellent job. read more

As one can clearly see there are many bad/poor reviews on Megapaths Products and Services As a Network administrator for over 15 years I think I am in a unique position make my comment. For starters, as it's relates to services such as ISP's DSL etc. please be advised that Megapaths is only a reseller of the ISP's services from big companies such as AT&T, VERIZON and BELL. These companies are the true culprits, luckily for me I work in New York City and had the good luck of working in a building that let a small company run its fiber into the basement. Company Name: Cogent Communications I have had zero down time in three years, and paid just under a thousand dollars for 100GB pipe, I should tell you also that I have a 12MB pipe from Broadview for backup purposes that cost me more and has gone down many time over the past three years. Back to Megapaths , apart from my job in NYC I also run two small network in Brooklyn and use Megapaths for email "Exchange Services" and I must say my experience with them have been wonderful. Ms. Kerry Homes my Account Rep. was very helpful and all my users are very happy with the new email service I guess I should knock on wood for that. To the disgruntled ISP users, knowledge of industry is key and as one reviewer said before we are all at the mercy of big telecom. read more

This company is horrible! They purchased three companies at the same time and operationally, they haven't integrated any of the systems. I have been working to disconnect service since August 2012. It's April 2013! I have spoken to no less than 9 people to get half of my numbers ported to our new account and to disconnect the service. Did I mention that our new account is with MEGAPATH. Yes, they are porting numbers from one Covad (now, Megapath) to a new Megapath account that started in August 2012. They CANNOT get one service disconnected without filling out LOA, after LOA, and sending an email and calling and sending another email and calling..... DO NOT enter in to a contract with Megapath. They absolutely are unhelpful, passing the buck to the next person and they have no customer management system for handling a customer's complaints. Thus, my reason for pursuing social media. Let's see if they will respond and get this mess straightened out! read more

I understand the frustrations with any cable company, whether it be with technical service or setting up your equipment. However, I feel Megapath did a fantastic job for what we desired. Sure, we had hiccups along the way, but our T1 installation and VOIP setup was nonetheless pretty smooth. Fortunately for me, I had a great VPM and technician to setup all our equipment. Without issue, our technician was able to remote into our routers and configure them to exactly our speciifications, and was able to designate the correct numbers for our VOIP system. I've incurred more problems with other cable companies in the past, and feel Megapath did a great job. Kudos to Michael and Lidice, our technician and VPM respectively. I felt their customer service was a 10/10... I'd recommend using Megapath for your T1 and VOIP needs, despite the negative reviews listed. Our entire system works great after the install and have had no problems since. read more

In my case Megapath listened to particular needs related to establishing SSH connections to various sites and was able to connect me via a proprietary and business specific interface that helped me manage remote locations as if I were physically present in various locations at the same time. When I noticed a minor bug, it was addressed quickly and efficiently, and exactly the way that I wanted. I think that many of the complaints that I see written about here have to do with an end user lack of understanding of exactly what is involved with doing what Megapath/Speakeasy accomplishes and the kind of lead time that is involved. You also need to be prepared to speak with your representatives in detail about your exact, specific needs so that they can find a way to accomplish what you need. In my case, I'm completely satisfied with what was done for me. read more

MegaPath is certainly a company that other companies can emulate. The experience was just positively overwhelming. I had been searching for a reputable vendor to assist in establishing internet circuit to service our customers on the East. After vetting various customers to include Verizon, AT&T etc. MegaPath was just so super to deal with. Documentation was easy to understand. Pricing clearly understood. Once I placed the order, the same rep followed through with every department to ensure scheduling is kept on target, material is delivered on time, start-up of equipment is functioning properly. They were always one step ahead of me. If all my vendors were this pro-active, prices wouldn't hurt so much. read more

Where do I fucking begin? This company can literally go straight to hell with giant pitch forks poking the ever living shit out of every damn one of these demons. This is scam of a company is a total rip off. They are text book examples of scam artists. These low life scum bag maggot turds are charging my small biz $3,300 for cancelling their awful service. When we tried to rectify the situation they rudely refused to comply resulting in us cancelling our service. They then sic junk yard dogs like Goldman Evans and Trammell on you for collections and they double down on threats, harassment and intimidation breaking all sorts of FDCPA laws. We're using MegaPath at one of our sales and service shops. Even though we are in a technology black hole, and wireless internet is our only option, the VoIP phone system is working awesome! running on a 6/6 Mbp/s connection and 7 phones we haven't had any issues with call quality or dropped calls. The phone manager has a plethera of features for how calls are routed, and there are plenty of support document to help you figure it out. If further support is needed, just give them a call and you will have a support rep that seems to enjoy his job, and is happy to help! I can't rate the service as ours will not be installed in our new offsite sales office until next week, but I can say that our Business Sales person, Kerry Homes, was top notch. Whether it was revising quote options for 10/10, 10/2, etc, service over and over, or repeatedly conferencing in technical engineers to address our setup and technical concerns, Kerry was always prompt, courteous, and went above and beyond to help with our questions and requests. I hope that our internet service and Megapath's customer service is as pleasant as our setup experience was. read more

Megpath Hosted VOIP (formerly SPeakeasy) is phenominal. It was bad for a few months when they were merging, like really really bad. We at Third Wave resell it to clients and they are really happy. A new client just sent me to this review page and I saw all of the bad comments, and they are mostly around the merger. Since it was completed in October (the network project part of the merger), it has been smooth sailing. I recommend it to everyone, its easy and a great value. If its not working for you, you probably don't know how to setup a network. read more

We have been using this service for over 7 years now, and I can't even begin to explain how our VOIP phone service through Speakeasy, and now MegaPath, has changed my life. We are a small company with all remote employees, and this system has allowed us to receive our customer support calls through a central location, and communicate with each other, just as if we were sitting next to each other. The MegaPath merger was seamless, and we have had nothing but exceptional service over the years. I am looking forward to MANY more years to come! read more
