Service and ambiance were great! They have a very nice outdoor patio that's covered from the rain. The salad and bread are great. I did wish they gave a little more time between the bread/salad course and the main course, since I didn't have enough time to finish my salad. The sauce is delicious and the fries were nice and crispy. Wish dessert came with the meal for that price. The steak is definitely very low quality -- there were so many pieces that were too tough for me to even cut, let alone eat. Since they give you an extra serving, I had enough steak to eat, but it just felt like such a waste to have this giant pile of inedible steak on my plate. There was probably 3/4 of a serving of steak that wasn't so tough it was inedible, so might not have been enough of a serving for others. read more

I've always had exceptional service here, but this particularly time the servers were incredibly preoccupied. It was really hard to flag them down for refills, etc. Medium Rare is a great brunch spot for the spring/summer time! Their outdoor patio is my favorite spot to be seated albeit they pack the tables like sardines. The steak frites with the peppercorn sauce is a must try. I'm not even a steak person, but as a saucy person, I love for this meal. The French toast is also crispy on the outside, yet soft and moist internally. It's the perfect balance of textures. read more

When there's one thing on the menu, it's got to be good. Pleased to say that it is really, really good. We had a low key picky family member in town who only likes select things, one of which is steak...so we ended up here. If you have some meat and potato lovers, this place will hit. The pre fixe is truly a great deal, especially with the second helping. The sauce is delectable, although the meal to me reads a little salty, although good. Simple meal, great deal, no room for complainers as there's no other choice on the menu and service is very quick! Nice spot that's above casual, but not too fancy. read more

One of the best DC brunch deals! Came here to catch up with a friend and really enjoyed their selections. Super helpful that its a pre fixe menu with a variety of options. The ambiance is calm and inviting. Will definitely be back! read more

Medium Rare - Steak Frites - Steakhouses Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

Overall, our table of five guests had a nice experience at Medium Rare. You cannot really beat all you can eat steak and pomme frites. This type of restaurant is prefect for folks who cannot decide what to eat. Why? The menu is pretty simple - steak, pomme frites, salad and bread. However, the restaurant does have a bit of variety when it comes to beer, cocktails, wines and desserts. Unlike most "fancy" steakhouses, Medium Rare has a pretty low-key vibe which makes it perfect for causal get togethers. Although our steaks were delicious, there were some minor issues with the preparation. For instance, there was about a 50/50 split between folks who requested medium rare and medium steaks. However, I'm pretty sure that all the steaks we received were medium. But considering that the kitchen is pumping out steaks (thin ones at that), I will not hold that against the restaurant too much. Also, it did not seem worth it to send the steak back. Although I'm team medium rare steaks, I can manage with medium. This was my second experience at Medium Rare (my 1st one was at the Arlington location), and I more than likely will return in the near future. I might be interested in checking out Medium Rare's brunch for a future visit. Oh before I forget, I thought the service team was prompt and very friendly. Also, I do not think that our table had to summon someone to refill our plates or beer/wine/cocktail glasses because the service team constantly checked in on us. read more

First time trying Medium Rare after seeing it on TikTok and I must say that I was impressed! I went for brunch and got the steak and eggs with a side of French toast. The steak was cooked medium and the sauce is a game changer! The employees and servers were welcoming and attentive. And the restaurant offered a patio and spacious indoor seating. We started outside but it was a little chilly so they sat us inside. read more

My kids really like Medium Rare in Cleveland Park, so for Mother's Day they invited me to their favorite restaurant! Who doesn't love two helpings of steak frites and delicious sauce? Tonight we got our seconds, then before we knew it someone was piling on a third helping, so bonus! Some pics of my gorgeous kids over the years, eating two servings of steak at Medium Rare! read more

yes they literally serve one course: salad and steak & fries. i was skeptical when a coworker brought me here but i was blown away by how good steak could get?!? i came back recently and i have to say having your steak cooked medium rare (haha get it?) is the way to go (i chose medium well the second time). the juiciness of the pink center blends seamlessly with the steak sauce. it turns a typically dryer dish into one with different textures! pair it with your favorite wine and it's sure to hit the spot. very creative restaurant and i will come back when i crave a nice steak :) read more

Excellent food and service. Loved that the prefix meal was so simple, but so good, and family-style serving (being able to have "seconds" of the steak and fries was lovely). The ambiance is warm and inviting, very simple and intimate. There were multiple birthdays being celebrated when I went and everyone clapped for and celebrated each other. It was a really nice energy. The restaurant also allowed my group (about 10 people) to bring in a homemade birthday cake, which they cut and served for us. read more

This place is great! At this point I think Medium Rare has established itself, so I'll keep this brief. The food is remarkably consistent and for the price I don't think you can get a better steak dinner in DC. The service is always very efficient and the staff are very friendly. The ambiance is on the casual side, but with the quality of service and food I have no complaints. Overall, one of my favorite spots in Cleveland Park that will be one of my regular dinner destinations for the foreseeable future. read more

Cute concept for sure and I really can't be mad at bottomless drinks for 1$. The brunch only gives you one serving of steak but that was enough to make me full. The steak wasn't anything amazing but it was sous vide so the texture was tender and the sauce was good. Not the best steak I've ever had but for the price it wasn't bad. The service was a bit slow and ignored us a few times but overall good experience read more

Their brunch is such a good deal, like $35 for bottomless drinks, a starter, and an entree?? Absolutely fabulous. I got the fruit parfait, steak and eggs, and some bottomless mimosas to sip on. What's nice about the deal too is that you don't even have to stick with a single drink, but I'm a big mimosa girly so I stuck with that the whole time. The parfait was delightful, but I do wish there was fresh fruit in it instead of dried fruits. The steak and fries were amazing. I wasn't a fan of my eggs; I asked for them to be poached and oddly the yolks were completely set and the whites were gelatinous. I wish I'd opted for just the steak frites. I also got to try a bite of their French toast and it was insanely sweet. It's a nice casual spot with flexible brunch options! The only issue was service was honestly a little slow, but at least with the mimosas they left the bottle of champagne opened at your table. read more

Celebrated my best friend's new job offer here last night and we split the appetizer (mushrooms) and dessert (key lime pie) amongst 3 of us. The steak and frites go really well with the sauce, which becomes a bit too salty along the way, but it's also a taste that we can't do without. I was awed by the generous portion of steak and frites which got us stuffed to the brim. This set meal also comes with artisan bread and salad. We topped it off with drinks - tried the red wine, margarita and sangria, and concluded with the popular key lime pie. The margarita was very refreshing and a great complement to the meal itself. The bathroom also has an audio of French phrases seemingly teaching you how to flirt? Lol. It was my first time here and my best friend bought us the meal. Won't be my last! read more

I had eaten at the Medium Rare Arlington location a couple of years ago when visiting the area. I wanted my carnivorous husband and son get to enjoy the experience. For this trip, we had dinner at the Cleveland location. The two locations have a very different ambience, but both have consistency with service and food. The Medium Rare in Cleveland is conveniently located right off the Metro station. Parking in the area is a bit of a challenge. There is a parking lot across from the restaurant that starts at $20. The service at Medium Rare is efficient, friendly and engaging. Upon arrival, our waiters brought us water. After that, everything flowed smoothly. The fixed menu includes artisanal bread, salad, fries, and steak. The food is flavorful and essentially all you can eat. My husband and son were able to eat 2 plates full! This cost is pricey, but it's definitely an experience worth trying at least once. read more

Medium Rare - Steak fries and eggs brunch - Steakhouses Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

I've been wanting to come here for a bit and decided to do brunch on a whim. The inside was nice. My reservation was for 12:45pm. They definitely had a decent crowd there, but it wasn't totally packed which was nice. Their brunch ($34.99) includes bread and butter, a starter (salad, fruit salad, or a yogurt parfait), an entree, and bottomless drinks (blood Marys, mimosas, or screwdrivers.) While my understanding is that their entree options for lunch and dinner are primarily steak frites, brunch has more of an array of choices. I opted for the parfait, Bloody Marys, and steak frites. Everything came out quickly, and they were very on top of drink refills (which can be hit-or-miss with bottomless places). I was there a little over an hour and had 4 Bloody Marys in that time, for context. My server was great and also kept my water filled consistently, which I appreciated. The parfait was good. I didn't expect it to have dried fruit on it, but it was actually really good and refreshing. The bread was nice and fresh as well. The Bloody Marys were also tasty, though they were fairly standard and didn't stand out amongst others I've had (which was fine). The fries were nice and crispy, and they came in a good portion. I really enjoyed them. And the steak was really tender. I don't usually use sauce on my steak, but theirs comes with their house sauce on it, and it was very tasty. It was savory but not overpowering. Overall, I'm glad I finally tried Medium Rare! I'm not sure if I would be as inclined to go there for lunch/dinner, but the brunch was absolutely worth it and I would come back again for that! read more

I came in here mostly to watch a big football game as the bars around the area were too packed for my liking. But, I was not that hungry and at this place it is a prix fixed menu. You get bread, salad and a steak and dessert. When I sat at the bar I asked if it was at all possible If I can just get a salad.. I said I would pay extra if need be. They were nice enough to just give me bread and salad. The bread was good and salad was nothing special but it did the job. And I also was not in the mood to drink so luckily they had a little selection of teas that I really enjoyed. This steak place has been around this area for a while and seems whenever I visit this place which is not often there are people in it. The atmosphere here is nothing special. Good amount of tables indoors and also outdoors. Small bar area with a small tv. The one thing about the bar area is that the lights hang down low so you are like looking into light while watching the tv. It's a bit annoying. The staff here are friendly. Would I rush back here for another meal. Probably not as there is not much variety at all but for the price that everything comes in, it is worth it. read more

First time at this location (have been to the one in Bethesda before), and it was awesome. The steak was cooked perfectly and had delicious flavor with the gravy. I could've had a third serving honestly haha. The bread and salad were solid, but I ended up enjoying my steak and fries a lot. Our food came out relatively fast and it was a cozy vibe inside since it's almost the end of the year. Their desserts looked insane but gotta be careful as you get older smh. Def check them out if you get a chance. read more

I came here for Saturday brunch and was pleasantly surprised. The menu is very small and simple, with their specialty obviously being steak. I got the steak frites and it was good. Luckily we got extra gravy to eat with our fries - it's a must. We did the bottomless option for drinks. The mimosas tasted a little watered down, which isn't surprising these days. I switched to a screwdriver and it was a better choice. I will be back! read more

I'd give this place a 7.5/10. It was good but the steak quality could be better. I love the overall vibe of this restaurant and the deal is really good too! Pretty good deal for steak frites! Agree with others who say the concept is interesting -- they only serve one thing on their menu and it's pretty good. Absolutely one of my favorite spots for brunch (and casual dinner). I live 6 minutes away and love having this place within easy access :D where I always know the service is spectacular. Brunch visits have me participating in bottomless and pairing it with Steak & Eggs (scrambled). One of the best deals for dinner I've seen in a while but I do eat in NYC often which is pricy so my opinion may be skewed. $32 for bread, salad, Steak and fries. The steak and fries are refillable. One of my favorite neighborhood spots -- and honestly an underrated brunch gem. Everyone knows them for steak frites (rightfully so), but the brunch is where it's at: unlimited coffee, mimosa or bloody, and that perfectly cooked steak + eggs combo that hits every time. We showed up at the time of our reservation and were greeted and seated immediately. It was a Saturday evening and the place was packed. The service was good and friendly. Looked a little bit short staffed though. For example, when we found no knives on our table, I had to walk and find someone and ask for them. They have just one item on their menu for the main dish: their signature steak with fries and secret sauce. It was tasty. The portion size is not huge but they serve you twice. The price was reasonable. We enjoyed our visit and recommend this place to steak lovers who are happy with pre-tailored experiences in terms of the type and size of the dish. read more

My family and I were visiting DC for Father's Day weekend and made a reservation here way in advance since we were a large group. I wasn't crazy that they have a $95 charge to make a reservation but since it was a holiday I didn't want to chance it and paid. When we got to the restaurant everyone was very nice and attentive. Our server Ana was super nice and really took care of us. They start you off with some bread and salad. Both were really good and fresh. Then the star of the show is served fries and steak. The fries were perfectly cooked, the steak was good but not great. I felt the steak could have used a little more seasoning. However, the warm steak sauce they give you on the side was so tasty it made the whole dish. They came back with plenty of seconds and everyone was really full. read more

I was honestly really looking forward to eating here and having some amazing steak, however, honestly I was severely disappointed. I had ordered the food to go or else I would've talked to someone at the restaurant about it. I had ordered two medium rares and honestly the quality of the steak was super disappointing. The meat was so tough and hard to eat, I had maybe two slices out of the 10 that was actually tender and enjoyable, the rest I had to spit out because it was so tough and had a texture of like tendons? The other order was slightly better with only 3 slices that were similar in texture but mostly tender....so perhaps I got the short end of the stick. The fries were good, the bread was good, and the salad was standard. Honestly, I might try it again, but if I do, it'll have to be in person because I really want a refund for my steaks. read more
