We have come here for Sunday Brunch, Lunch, and Dinner. Overall, I would say they are great and worth checking out. The food is top-quality, as is the service. The location is great, and the decor makes you feel very comfortable, almost homey. The only negative (and this only applies to gluten-free folks like me) is that they do not have gluten-free bread, pasta, or pizza. This limits quite a bit of what is available. Still, they have worked with me to figure things out the four times we have gone. If you are not gluten-free, this is a must. If you are, check the menu beforehand and have all your questions ready to discuss with the waiter. read more

This is our neighborhood restaurant so came here for restaurant week dinner. The place is relatively new opened less than a year ago. It has a contemporary upscale interior and seating is mostly spacious - except for the rows of two tops. Luckily the hostess must have read my mind and seated us in my favorite curved banquette - a more comfortable and private space. The RW menu turned out to be a bit confusing - it was different from the one I saw online - the online version was $40 for dinner but with most mains with up to $10 add-ons, the only one without the add-on was the trout which I was planning to order. However the menus at the restaurant were completely different. Now there were two options one for $40 and one for $55 (with no more add-ons, as well as no more bass which with the add on would have been $50) but the trout was now only Included in the $55 version. So I ended up with pasta instead. The switch wasn't a deal breaker for us but I can imagine it causing problems for others especially it's not just switching dishes but also prices. Anyway, despite the initial confusion with different menus we had a good time as both food and service were excellent (and I liked our seating which definitely mitigated the menu issue). Note that like many other restaurants in the area they now automatically include a 20% service charge which is prominently shown in the check so additional tip is appreciated but not required. read more

Such excellent service. Our waitress offered her favorite dishes. We went in another direction, but I appreciate her input. Our water glasses were frequently topped up. A sommelier served our wine professionally, and came back to check on our experience. Several additional people came to confirm everything was satisfactory. The manager made several stops to be sure we were happy. In addition, we loved everything we ordered. Octopus tails appetizer, though the portion size was small. A spring salad with a nice mix of greens, and add ins, all properly dressed. Then our entrees were the halibut. Cooked to perfection with a side of peas, carrots, and bok choy. Desert was panna cotta with rhubarb. They didn't have the most extensive menu, but everything was done well. read more

So sad! The food was really, really good. We had the spring salad, the sea bass and the Capitol slice pizza, all of which were great. We sat outside on a beautiful night. It was so nice. Unfortunately, the service was really bad. They brought out the wrong pizza and it took about 20 minutes for them to bring out a new one, by which time we had to go. People make mistakes of course, but you'd think they'd prioritize getting a pizza out to us and that the manager or someone would come out to apologize. Nothing. It's such a shame since the food was really top notch. Please get the service right!! read more

We ate here with a couple of friends, first sitting at the outside patio (nice weather and pleasant setting) but then asking to be moved inside because of the mosquito bites. The ambience inside and the service were both very nice. We started by sharing bread and butter, potato croquettes (excellent) and summer salad. I ordered the Baba Ghanouz as an appetizer. It was quite good but the portion of the eggplant spread was much smaller than the size of the bread on which it was spread. My wife ordered chilled melon soup. it was very interesting and quite tasty. For the main dish, I ordered grilled trout, which looked and tasted more like salmon. It wasn't bad but I didn't like it. My wife ordered pasta, which she didn't like very much. For dessert, we ordered and shared the Panna Cota and the Peach Melba, which were both very good. read more

Went for restaurant week but have been meaning to go since it opened. The restaurant is well appointed and the staff were friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed our meals. I love that there's a new local upscale neighborhood restaurant. The ambiance is elegant but comfortable and the staff was very friendly. The menu was interesting with something for lots of palates and it was delicious. I will definitely be returning. I'm not much of a wine drinker but the wine list looked robust. We live in the neighborhood and were happy to see a new restaurant, especially one by frank ruta as Palena was my favorite restaurant for years. Unfortunately, we didn't have a great experience - all 4 of our dishes (appetizers and entrees) were extremely salty. So much so that I couldn't finish my pork chop entree. We were initially put at a bad table at the end of a row, with a lot of foot traffic; they changed our table when we requested it, but I noticed the restaurant was about half full the entire time we were there, and thought it was odd that we were initially put at such an undesirable table. Finally, we found our waiter's manner strange; he seemed a bit bored and aloof. He was pretty curt when we asked if he had menu recommendations and he rarely came by to check in during our meal. The rest of the waitstaff was nice and solicitous about refilling our glasses and clearing the table, but our waiter's attitude was pretty off-putting. I keep trying to give this a place a chance but the menu is just so boring! I don't think I can try anymore. Was such a big fan of Palena, and am a big fan of Annabelle. Why can't they make interesting dishes other than mediocre pizzas and slabs of meat and overcooked unseasoned vegetables. Rosedale lost a star -or two-due to service. While the restaurant is lovely and comfortable, and the food is good to excellent, the service feels pressured amid the constant targeted upselling. I've been to Rosedale several times and have had different servers and yet find myself dreading the interactions every time . I now understand why. The new system of having the servers basically work on commission undermines hospitality -- I felt I was in a big item store dealing with salesmen working on commission. A very unpleasant experience that is not the workers' fault , but the owners. The upshot is, I'm less likely to venture into the restaurant when I anticipate that kind of unpleasant situation. read more

Five of us went on Christmas Eve. You could not tell it was a holiday Eve. Everyone was point on with service. Food was exceptional as well.

Atmosphere good. Location good, food not good. I had a burrata dish that wasn't burrata but a small piece of mozzarella. It was surrounded by potatoes and sweet potatoes and other root vegetables. That is not what burrata works with so it was a strange dish. Then I had the swordfish for my entree. The flavors were not bad but the fish was so overcooked and dry. This may be just a function of growing pains but the serviced was bad and bizarre (being made to wait at the podium for minutes while the person was on the phone, server telling us we couldn't order starters until we placed our entire order, and multiple bussers hovering over us refilling our water each time we took a sip). The food, which seems to be a mashup of other really good neighborhood restaurants' menus (eg Bucks, Comet, Sfoglina), was just meh while expensive. Not worth it. Also weird was the decor with faux old bookshelves filled with multiple copies of the same 5 books and fake old knickknacks. Will not return. Existing neighborhood restaurants much better. read more

Phenomenal brunch experience here! I arrived excited but with measured expectations as I know this is a newer establishment, that there has been a lot of past turnover of businesses in this particular spot, and because I had read a couple reviews mentioning inattentive service in its early opening days. That said, I was smitten with our experience. We were 4 adults and 1 toddler (3-year old) who went for an 11:30am brunch. Every dish was delicious, the space is beautiful, and the service was top-notch. The vibe is more upscale (similar to Sfoglina next door) yet my toddler was very much welcomed by the manager and servers and we didn't feel out of place with her. The fan favorite dish was the croque madam pizza that we ordered for the table to share. Divine. Members in our party also ordered the fried chicken sandwich, the burger, the quiche of the day, and the pancakes -- all delicious. Two spacious bathrooms with fun wallpaper and a beautiful bar I hope to return to with my husband. The only downside is that the restaurant said they didn't have a kids menu "yet"; I am hoping for some child-friendly dishes at child-appropriate prices coming down the pike. All in all, a truly great brunch spot. We are already planning another visit in a couple weeks. read more
