Reasonable price, great owner, and nice location…read more Came in for an oil change and to track down the cause of a recurring stall issue with my Volkswagen Tiguan. The mechanic listened, asked good follow-up questions, made sure he understood the problem before drawing any conclusions, and then diagnosed it cleanly. The part arrived within the window he quoted (2-3 hours), was installed without fuss, and the final bill was reasonable. What stood out as much as the technical work: he flagged a slow coolant leak and a minor oil leak -- this is an older car, so neither was a shock -- but there was no pressure to pile on services. He showed me rough estimates so I'd have them when I'm ready and left the decisions to me. That kind of straightforward, no-upsell approach is rarer than it should be. The waiting area is a genuine plus: free wifi, a table big enough to work at, and a small fridge with complimentary drinks, large TV. My one suggestion would be to add a coffee in the AM. Also, the door to the reception currently reads "B". Might want to avoid any confusion with better signage. That said, I am a big fan of this establishment and will be using them for repairs in the future (apparently sooner than I want :) Bonus: he pointed me to a wonderful Indian place across the street, Biryani, which I'd highly recommend if you have time to kill while your car is being worked on.

I ended up needing more work done and while it was expensive as cars are it didn't cost an arm and a leg. Gia the manager was also just pleasant to talk to and very communicative overall. She even offered to let me come around the desk to type in my credit card number for privacy which I felt was a thoughtful gesture. Overall my experience was great and my car feels better! As a woman, I can tell you there's no shortage of mechanics out there who will look at your car and…read morediagnose you with stuff you don't need just to charge you more. Clyde at Pass The Wrench doesn't do that. He's a fine young man who provides quality, affordable service. If the job isn't done that day, you pay him when it is. I seriously lucked out by asking on Reddit if anyone knew of a mobile mechanic that could come to our house and fix out Infiniti, someone recommended him. He answered his phone right away, listened to the issue, and came plenty prepared. Not only was he fantastic with the service he provided, he was able to get us discounts on the parts we needed, willing to work around us very close to Christmas (even offering to work ON Christmas), and it turns out he can do more than just cars. Since moving to NC, all we ever hear about is how everyone in this state has "A Guy" they know that can do fix-it/handy projects around the house. Clyde at Pass The Wrench happens to be That Guy for us now. It's rare you find someone that loves what they do and is willing to do good work at a good price without trying to swindle their customers for a quick buck. When it comes to local businesses, Pass the Wrench is exactly the sort of place I want my money going because the person running it happens to be just an all around good human. He might be based out of Raleigh, but he services all over and will come to you to fix your car. We're out in Clayton, and he came to us without issue. I will personally be recommending him to everyone I know.

It is highly probable that this will be my final visit to this establishment. The customer service…read moreprovided is subpar. The cost of an oil change is excessively high. I was charged $166 for a full synthetic oil change, and the attendant proceeded to inform me that I also required a cabin air filter and an air filter, each priced at $35. I politely declined these additional services, stating that I could obtain a comparable filter at a significantly lower cost from Amazon and perform the installation myself. I asked the attendant at the front desk - "oil changes have gotten expensive, haven't they?" He then replied - "yeah and so is the labor. Gotta keep my guys happy." Despite these issues, they offered me a $10 discount coupon, which was insufficient to eliminate the state tax. Consequently, my total bill, after applying the $10 coupon, amounted to $167.

Both visits were handled by the same associate, and the issue was dismissed without a proper inspection. My vehicle was not pulled into a service bay, and I was ultimately told nothing could be done, despite the issue persisting. This was disappointing, especially considering the cost of the service. I'm now having to take my vehicle elsewhere to resolve a problem that started immediately after my visit.
