1 star -- Extremely poor customer service Ordered online and was charged a $6 convenience fee. When I walked in, they told me they had turned the iPad off, so they never saw my order. Instead of apologizing or taking ownership, the lady up front simply said, "Well, sit outside, it's gonna be a wait." No apology, no sense of urgency. I ended up waiting another 20 minutes for the food, and later realized I was also charged a tip during online checkout. Between the tip and the convenience fee, that was about $12 extra for subpar food and rude service. Very disappointing experience. Customer service matters just as much as the food, and this place fell short on both. read more

My husband and I have been coming here since the early 2000s. We were sad when they closed during the pandemic, but then saw them reopening Spring of 2025. We were happy to hear Umma retired and her sons were taking over. The food is as we remembered it to be. read more

There are bunch of small spots all around the area and many food trucks, but decided to check out Me-Bar-B-Que, mix of Hawaiian and Korean food. Looked good and lots of people which is a good sign. They have a ton of combos and options, everything looked good, hard to decide, but ended up with the BBQ combo. The BBQ combo comes with Beef Kalbi (Korean short ribs) and BBQ beef with rice and 4 sides. A lot of food for about $23 with tax. Not a bad deal (as of Dec.2025). They do charge a fee if you use a CC, I believe 4%, so save yourself some money and pay cash. Not a fan of these fees, but seems common around here and many small businesses have them, so I understand it costs them money to process. The Kalbi was very good , the BBQ beef was also very good. The sides I got were mac salad, kimchi, spicy cucumbers and bean sprouts. The sides were good, although I have had better mac salad, was not bad, just not my fav. One big let down was their kimchi, funny, this is a Korean spot and the kimchi was not good. I have kimchi all the time in Los Angeles and this one missed big, did not even finish it. I did eat everything else, the rest was very good. I did not get a drink, only canned drinks, I prefer a fountain drink with ice. Although the kimchi is a miss and the Mac salad was ok, I still recommend the spot, great food and a pretty good value. Enjoy! read more

Me Bar B Que is exactly what I was picturing in my mind when our flight landed in Hawaii. We went multiple times, but unfortunately only remembered photos of our dinner. They serve a delicious grilled chicken loco moco for breakfast that is a must try! For our dinner, we ordered their Galbi and it was phenomenal! Good portion, very tender meat, and each bite has a tad of that char flavor from the grill. Service was friendly and fast, although it may be a wait during busy hours since everything is freshly made. Plenty of shared outdoor seating directly outside the shack as well! read more

This spot has been here for years, but closed after the pandemic. From what I was told, it recently re-opened. They have a large selection of items, all served in Togo boxes where you can eat at the cafeteria tables outside. This go around I had the Kalbi/Katsu combo plate and my wife had the regular Kalbi plate. My order came with 1 Kalbi and a decent size piece of chicken katsu. My wife's order had 3 pieces of Kalbi, all cut up for easier eating. Katsu was crispy, the way I like it. The Kalbi was very tasty and had good flavor. The food was pretty good and well priced given it's sitting in a few blocks from Waikiki beach. Definitely a must try for the budget conscious traveler looking for well portioned eats at reasonable prices. read more

We ordered from Me Bar-B-Que last night and the food was fantastic. The service was great. We order online and forgot about the sides they were kind enough to call and ensure we got the full ambiance of their business. We ordered the local favorites macaroni salad with teriyaki chicken and corn. I got the orange chicken with noddles and broccoli. These noodles were served cold and had a taste I have never had before. They were outstanding. The orange chicken was so delicious and different from anywhere else. The teriyaki was so abundant that my wife could not eat it all. The best part was it was served on sticky Rice. We will eat here again when we come back to Oahu, Hawaii. PLEASE READ: The food and service were average at best, however I am rating ME BAR-B-QUE one star because of what I think many would consider POOR ETHICS and DECEITFUL BUSINESS PRACTICE. There was previously a restaurant with same name in this location a few years back, but then it had closed down. Later it appeared to have re-opened. I was happy because it had always been a solid Waikiki option in the past. However upon clarifying with the current staff I found out that this is a completely different restaurant with the same name! (feel free to ask the staff and verify) Turns out the original owners were not allowed to renew their lease by the hotel landlord and soon after, a restaurant with no affiliation to the original was opened with the same menu and concept. If you cross the street, you'll notice there's another ME BBQ (since 1992 on the sign). This is the original family owned owner that had lost their lease. They reopened with their original name, but are surely losing customers who are confused by the new restaurant in their former location that bears the same name. Please do the right thing do not support the restaurant in the pink building. If you want the real ME BBQ, make sure it says "Since 1992" and is at the corner of Prince Edward and Uluniu. read more

The beef itself was really delicious but the woman serving the food wasn't super friendly. Also, if you're going to offer sit down seating for $25 dishes, it seems like you should really have a public bathroom. I would understand if this was a $10 grab and go spot but at that price point, I feel like you can afford to offer a bathroom! read more

So today, I walk in and order a Kalbi plate. The woman working the register doesn't smile, welcome me, or anything. "What do you want" level of service. The plate comes with two sides. For my first side, I ask for Kim chi. There are two options - Napa cabbage or cucumber. I say "Napa cabbage" at the same time as she says "cabbage" and she gives me a dirty look. It's all downhill from there. I get my number and go wait outside. There are a couple orders in front of me. When food is ready for the couple ahead of me, the woman working walks their food outside and hands it to them. I notice the food isn't in a bag, so I walk in and ask the woman if I can have mine in a bag since I'm taking the food back to my hotel. She acknowledges my request and is still emotionless. I walk back outside to wait. Now comes the worst part. When my food is ready, I see the woman out of the corner of my eye, waving her arms to get my attention. We make eye contact, she holds up my bag, and gestures for me to come in and get the food. I should add that I'm carrying two beach chairs and it's awkward sliding in and out of the narrow doorway. There also is no one in line. She's just decided that she's not going to bring me my food like she did for every order ahead of me. The food ended up being ok. Good portion for 1 and a light portion for 2. Whoever owns this place - coach your staff to not be disrespectful to customers for no reason. You deserve this 1 star today. read more

Had the Maui ribs they were delicious. Portion and service were great. The only thing i didn't enjoy was that all the sides are cold.

Definitely better places to get Korean BBQ on island. Food is meh, even if the portions are "generous." Veggie and ban chan options limited and of low quality. This is Korean BBQ for people who dont know better. read more

This place and the me bbq across the street have a bit of a turf war going on. The me bbq across the street has a sign out front bashing on this me bar b que saying it's not the real one lol. All that aside, the lady at the front taking orders was very nice and helped us order. We ordered the chicken katsu and short ribs with sides of Mac salad, kimchi and broccoli. Everything was delicious and the portions were huge and everything was $24 after tax and tip. Enough to feed 2 people. Maybe I'll try the me bbq across the street tomorrow to compare, but would absolutely come back here. I enjoyed the outdoor seating vs sitting inside as well. read more

THIS IS NOT THE ORIGINAL RESTAURANT. We haven't been here is a couple of years and had friends in town staying in Waikiki and wanted fast easy good food. We came here not realizing it was new owners and a copycat name. We should have known when the service at the counter was terrible, very annoyed we were there. We order 6 plates and drinks. It took forever to get our food at least 30 minutes. When the food arrived, it looked ok but we took our first bites and realized something was off. The Kalbi was sooo salty we couldn't eat it. The chicken was burned on the underside so we couldn't see it at first. We went back to complain and they said they cant return "used" food. We said it was not edible she did not care. We spent over $120 here for plate lunch that we did not eat. Service was awful. We came on yelp to write this review and now just realized we were at the wrong location, that this is the copy cat location and the original was across the street. NEVER COMING BACK. also now that we know what the owners are doing, terrible terrible- hope karma gets them. GO TO THE ORIGINAL ME's on KUHIO. read more

This business opened in the location of a fabulous restaurant, and chose the same name as the previous establishment. (A bit sketchy in my opinion) They are not the same. Want the original, no problem, they are located across the street. This restaurant has good reviews, go if you would prefer, but consider the original one as an option. The lady in the front was very nice, but the food quality was bad.. ordered the squid and there was no salt at all, u can just tell that the squid was not fresh. Without opening my plate the fishy smell was too much, I had to throw it in the trash..Oh and u only get 2 sides for regular now( not 4) read more
