The beds are not very comfy and they didn't have a microwave or mini fridge?? However the food and service are excellent .. I go there several times a week just for that.. But I would stay at a different Hotel .. It's fortunate that the rooms are so plain an out dated for such a new hotel.. The lady and I made our adventure way out to Bothell from Portland to get a bunch of McMenamins Passport stamps within 24 hours. Based on the photos we saw of Anderson School, we thought this was going to be a dream vacation on a huge property with all your typical McMenamins oddities. First, when we arrived we were taken aback by the location, which is right on a main road in Bothell and kind of spread out between buildings. I suppose we expected something more cozy and reclusive based upon photos. Second, we noticed the abundance of children everywhere. Compared to other McMenamins, this is the most "family friendly" location we've been to. This was somewhat disappointing because we were looking forward to an adult getaway; I'm a teacher and I deal with kids all day so the last thing I want while I'm drinking a beer and trying to relax is more kids. The pool was nice, the shed was tiny but cool, the woodshop was probably our favorite spot (after 9pm when the kids weren't allowed), and dinner at the tavern was delicious but expensive. A year after opening and the service still hasn't improved. The best service I've received here was by the two dudes in the empty theater during the 90s dance party night. Seriously if you're going to be the destination location for the area and have theme nights-Hire. More. People. And also, make sure those people give just a tiny fuck about serving or customer service at all. If you're going to have a huge event, hire some bartenders. If you're going to have a huge event and then leave everything else on your campus open, hire 4 times as many people as you think you need. People need jobs. I can't blame them for never bringing my friend's "half chicken caesar" because no respectful dude should ever order a half salad (even metrosexual's), but I've had speedier service at Denny's at 2AM. After being ignored for 20 minutes and watching a table get seated and order their drinks in under 5 minutes, we knew that our table must be in that Area 51 of dining where no one thinks your table is theirs and evidently aren't trained to notice that 4 people sitting without a thing on their table for 20 minutes aren't there for an AA meeting (at least they'd have coffee). The dog taking a nice, long piss next to me as I sank my teeth into my burger and the odor of fresh dogpoo emanating from the swaying bag the dog owner was grasping 2 feet from my wife's head was something I've never had the pleasure of experiencing in overpriced outdoor dining. Is this place an F-ing dog park? I love dogs but if I had one and I needed lots of attention from restaurateurs while walking it, I'd have it piss and sh*t away from people dining so that people could just enjoy the silhouette of a squatting dog in the distance. The proliferation of dogs in businesses is really cute.... until one nips me (as one did to a friend of mine in a different establishment) and ends up with a tactical SOG in its neck. #justsayin:) The fact that this place is crowded on a Sunday evening attests to the fact the world isn't going to run out of idiots anytime soon. Speaking of which, did they get the idea from Apple's closed architecture to only offer their own wine and beer knowing that fanboys will gladly subscribe with big, stupid smiles on their faces and open wallets? The wine "presentation" by a quasi-sommelier of under-chilled white with yet another dog in the background made for a picturesque special moment. I thought (as our appetizer came with our entrees) if some Keystone Cops ever opened a restaurant, this would be it. This place is similar to Edgefield but smaller. I really had a wonderful time here. It is brand new! The room was super cute. I LOVED the lighting at this location. Our room had two cool old lamps in it. They were beautiful and all in the hallways there were a ton more. We had a nice view of the central garden area and the tiny whiskey tasting room. We had a great dinner here. Large prawns to start of the meal. Yum! Burger for the main course and for the win. This was one of the better McMenamins burgers I have had in a while. It was the meat that really tasted next level. The flavor was great. We checked out a movie since we were staying overnight and wanted some entertainment. I was also excited because they were playing Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. They have food and drinks at the ticket entrance. You can grab a blanket for free if you want to snuggle up in your seat. The seats are comfortable. The sound is pretty good. We could hear the rain on the roof during one of the scenes but it fit in with the movie. Ha! The outdoor/indoor pool was cool looking but it wasn't warm enough and that bummed me out. It was only about 91 degrees and I only hung out for a few minutes. I really hope they pump this up and decide to keep it warmer. I think more people will use it if they do this. Not sure where to begin here. My wife and I just stayed the night to have time to take it all in and hopefully experience the whole place. First off, this place is massive. I think there are like 6 different bars to choose from. Huge courtyard. The setting and the decor are awesome. The room we stayed in was typical funky McMenamins, but nice. In the high school the rooms have really high ceiling and huge windows. Lots of neat artwork to look at. The courtyard and fire pits look like a lot of fun when the weather get warmer. BUT, I do NOT recommend going there. I have to caveat that we stayed there on a Friday night but I have heard that it can be as bad every night of the week. The sheer crush of humanity is more than I could take. There were lines EVERYWHERE! There are no reservations (shame on you McMenamins!) so you must wait in line. The only place we could get a drink was The Shed, but the line was out the door and it took about 20 minutes. We actually found a part of a bench to sit on in there and thought about getting a bite to eat and asked the bartenders (after waiting in line again) to get something from the menu, but wait, those aren't the menus for The Shed said the bartender... They were for The Woodshop and we don't have food in The Shed, except tater tots and fries... Hmmmm... Note to staff, please remove the many Woodshop menus from the Shed when you clean up at night. After a couple of drinks we decided we needed to eat I head over to the main restaurant, The Tavern and the place is PACKED! When I asked, she gives me a frown and tells me it's a TWO AND A HALF HOUR wait for a table for two! This is around 6:30. She said we could get a seat at the bar, but it was like three deep there and nobody budging. Head over to the Woodshop but can't get through the throngs of people just standing around looking for a place, not even at the bar. At least at the Tavern they will put your name on a list, not so at the Woodshop, so it was a free for all. Fed up we headed to Bothell in search of food. Ended up just walking about 100 yards to Amaro Bistro and we walked right in and got a good seat! The food was excellent but that's another review. Normally, I would've just called it a night and gone home and not dealt with the crowds, but we were spending the night! We headed over the pool to see if we could get in The Lagoon and some grumpy staff person blocked our way and told us there was a 1.5 hour wait!!! OK, we headed back to the Shed just because it was the only place you could get a drink in a reasonable amount of time. Got a glass of wine and wandered around a bit. Finally gave up and went back to our room and finished our drinks. Speaking of our rooms, there is no access control to the hotel building so people are just wandering around all over the place like a dorm or something. Looking at art work and mainly looking to get into the Principal's Office, which on face value sounds like a great idea but is so small that only about 10 people can fit in there. If you stay in the hotel, stay on the 1st floor away from the principals office and the crowds. Got up the next morning and went the Principals Office for "complimentary coffee and tea" (which was written on the handout they gave us). When we asked about coffee and tea, the drone that was working in there just pointed and grunted at the coffee pot and I asked about tea, since that is what I drink but she said it wasn't "complimentary" and $3 thank you very much! She went back to reading her book not interested in us. After that we'd had it and headed home... One more thing... Don't even think about going when there is a high school football game at the stadium next door, cuz that will fill up the parking at the stadium which is overflow for the hotel. - McMenamins if you are going to run an expensive hotel ($300 a night!) at least throw your guests a bone. I asked if there was parking available for guests and the lady at the front desk told me to park over by Pop Keeney stadium. Really? reserve some parking for your hotel guests! Also, how about some priority seating for hotel guests??? I would rather stay at Willow's Lodge in Woodinville for those prices! No incentive to stay at the hotel. A word to them... start taking reservations, at least at The Tavern (the main restaurant) It will control the mobs and set expectations. Is it really that hard? So... There are no reservations. Parking is hell. I couldn't tell you about the food because the lines were too long to get anything. The staff was a mixture of glum and bored. The rooms are ok but not really worth the price. Be prepared to wait in line for anything. And for those that say give them some time to figure this out. It's going to take months, if not years for them to figure this out. Poor planning on McMenamin's part! They have seriously underestimated the crowds. I don't think someone like Tom Douglas would ever let one of his restaurants get this out of control! read more

In a sea of less than positive reviews, I'm going to give a 5star. McMenamins is special. We are lucky to have them in our neighborhood. I've been 5 times now and I'm completely in love! The Tavern - went for breakfast, it was delightful! Mmmm cinnamon rolls and mimosas! The Woodshop - went to play shuffleboard, drink beer and eat burgers, such a fun hangout! The Shed - went and bought myself a big girl drink and sat around the fire with friends, so fun The Market - went and shopped, what a fun store! Great for gifts! The firepits - the restaurant was booked solid (popular!) so we just grabbed a beer and sat around the fire, so lovely. Sad to not have been able to have dinner but very happy to sit around the fire. No complaints! The Northshore Lagoon Tiki Bar - went and had a fun cocktail, a thai pizza and dragon boats - dude, the food was out of this world!!!!!!!! I'd go back for the exact same thing again and again. The pool - haven't been able to swim in it yet as they are making some safety adjustments to it right now but boy am I excited to.. it's gorgeous! I see a lot of similar complaints but a couple I want to address... 1) Not enough parking - well, it's popular! And you do have the option to get off your ass and walk a couple blocks, it won't kill you. 2) Slow service - sure, it's not always on point but when going to a McMenamins... think of it as an experience. It's a compound filled with all sorts of delightful places to visit while you are on the site. Relax, visit, sip your cocktail, don't worry about your food.. it's coming. Besides, this place just opened mid October - they deserve the time to work out their kinks. McMenamins has an excellent reputation and what they do is truly wonderful so give them time. Okay, this is a gorgeous space, I admit, but the place was SO PACKED in the oddest time (Saturday at 4pm?) and they are still clearly working out kinks as it was unclear at many junctures just how the hell this whole complex works and how to go eat or drink or whatever. In the end, we ended up in the Woodshop (separate review to follow) after strolling the grounds for 30 minutes or so. Granted, we drove out from Seattle and it was so, so, SO busy but other than a few places to eat (that were 30+ min waits at each, lines out the door), some nice grounds to stroll and what looks like an awesome pool (that, I'll be back for, bring the kiddo for sure as it's open to the public) ... I say it may not be worth the drive so unless you're already in Bothell, I'd say make a day trip to Oregon and see the other McMenamins over there. read more

I came here the second night it was open and it was PACKED! Like, so packed that it was hard to move in most places. The place is huge and I love love love old architecture so it was sort of like a haven for me. The trippy cat mascot is groovy as heck too! Reminds me of the setting of a zombie high school film. I had dinner at the tavern. Ugh! I ordered roasted game hen. I got half of one with 4 tablespoons of potatoes for $20. I did not get the vegetable so ended up with a side when I finished my very small dinner. My dinner took 40 minutes. Service lacking as I had to ask for a drink. I was still hungry so I went to the Wood Shop Pub. I sat at the bar for a minute and asked if I could watch Golden Globes on one of the TV's. They said NO we only show sports! Two and a half men was on the TV! I ordered the hummus since I was still hungry from my dinner and it was 3 times as big as my dinner and it tasted OK at best. Someone please rescue this place! It's a great idea in theory (restoring a historical school house and making it a destination hotel) but poorly executed. While some of the spaces are interesting and unique, the food is really boring and the service is terrible. If you want to come here at all, consider taking an Uber, as the parking mess that results from having one lot for hotel, movie theater, restaurant and overflow high school stadium parking is enough to make you want to turn around and go home. Once you've parked, good luck getting into the one cool bar space (The North Shore Lagoon) unless you're staying overnight as they give priority admission to their hotel guests and everyone else has to wait. The Woodshop Bar has some nice outdoor fire pits and inside there are pristine pool tables, but good luck getting a drink at the bar (as they will refuse to serve you unless you wait single-file in one spot at the end of the bar) or flagging down a server at your table. They also won't serve you shots or any cocktail they deem "too high in alcohol content" after 10 pm. Don't even bother considering anything from their approved list of featured cocktails, though, as they will run you about $10 and are served in a tiny 6 ounce cup. One highlight is the beer is actually really good here, but there are just too many other local breweries and tasting rooms nearby to warrant putting up with McMenamin's lousy service experience and lack of parking just to enjoy a night out drinking. The sad thing is this place has some real potential, but I think they're just trying to do too much on one property and need better management staff (especially when it comes to food and beverage!) to get things in order. read more

8PM on a Saturday night. No parking. Finally got lucky right after we gave up and started leaving the lot. Place is full of dudes who wear scarves in 50 degree weather, who wear too much cologne and drive Pruis', and the stupid overly-drunk-and-loud chicks following their beta-males around. Every restaurant we tried was a 45+ minute wait, and one wasn't even taking more 'walk-ins'. A decidedly different experience than their pub in Queen Anne where you can get a table any time, even on a weekend. On a weekend: Don't. Just don't. Will give it a shot during the week but if the parking lot looks remotely like it did last Saturday I'll never be back despite the fact I am moving to downtown Bothell. read more

My boyfriend and I wanted to do a fancy date night, so we reserved a room at the hotel and just planned to eat and drink at each of the onsite bars. We arrived at 1pm, ahead of check in, and parking lot was full so we had to park several blocks away. I would think that overnight guests would have guaranteed parking, but no big deal. The property itself is amazingly beautiful and for the first 2 hours we had no problem visiting each of the bars and service was quick. However, as the evening wore on and the crowds took over, we weren't able to find a single open bar seat and the wait for a table was 2.5 to 3 hrs at each venue. You can't make reservations and no priority is given to overnight guests for dining. They also don't offer room service. In need of food and beer, we walked up to the mexican restaurant to have dinner and stopped by the convenience store for a 12 pack. Long story short, there's zero incentive to stay at the hotel - we had to park, eat, and drink somewhere else. It is a beautiful property, but the $275 we spent for the room was an utter waste of money. This is not a company that values their overnight guests. read more

Overrated. Overcrowded. Poorly managed. I don't have high standards... pretty easy to please, but this place seem incredibly popular and I am not quite sure why. Parking is impossible to find so we always park a block and half away. We had to wait an hour and a half for a table at the restaurant (the first time we tried the wait was three hours so we went to Country village, which was great). The food took two hours to arrive at our table after we ordered and was... Okay. Not great. Definitely not worth the wait. The staff was trying hard to keep up and keep people happy, bless their hearts. I felt bad for them, but they seemed constantly slammed. The pool is FREEZING. Not the water, but the pool area. We could literally see our breath in the pool area. I would never have let my kids go swimming if I had known it would be that cold. They had blue lips. I am sure in the summer it will be fine, but it was strange that they allowed it to be that cold and kept it open. No hot tub, either. There are no places to drop your used towels for hotel guests, which is very odd. Nothing like carrying sopping towels across the parking lot with three kids... We watched a hotel staff person drag a garbage bag dripping black sludge across the carpet and down a few flights of stairs. Gross! There are no ice machines on each floor and you have to go to the "Principals office" to get it which can sometimes be closed. Also No luck getting a seat in the restaurant as it takes 2 hours or more and it takes forever to even get your food. It took them about 45 minutes to get food in the movie theater apparently they kept losing my order ticket. I was one of the first to order the food in the movie theaters and the last person to get the food. The food was average or above average. But customer service was horribly pathetic. By the time the food got to me. I was full from my friends offering their food to me as I was waiting for my meal. when I asked at least 4 times about my food none of the staff cared to check and see what was going on with the order until 45 minutes later. And since I paid in cash they said they don't receipts. Go figure. I even brought this attention to the manager. I would not recommend this place if you expect any customer service but if you expect to see a lot of people there then that's about all you will get. read more

The wings tasted freezer burnt, the carrots were old and the celery was slimy. Microwave chicken strips are better than what they have... My last review is still applicable! But I just wanted to update with a tip for parking: City Hall. About a block or so before you reach Mcmenamins, turn right on 185th. There's plenty of free/cheap parking at City Hall, til 12am. The walk from there to the front desk of the Anderson school is shorter than walking from the stadium / backlot at Mcmenamins. It's also stress-free and saves a TON of time spent searching for parking spots that don't exists at the school. read more

Love the variety of activities and hang outs of this place. We come here all the time. But they are consistently understaffed which leads to lots of frustrated customers and servers. A Wednesday night should not start with "sorry but it'll be a while till I get your drinks"....really? Just hire more staff, you're making plenty of money. I have to drop another star and followup.....we had a bar tender chase us down for a signature, not a problem even though I could sign Batman and you'd still charge me. My wife surprised me with an overnight stay here this past Sunday night for our anniversary. The weather was great so we decided to grab a couple of pints and enjoy the beautiful garden area. Unfortunately the novelty was somewhat tainted due to the over abundance of dirty dishes left behind from previous guests and the surprising bounty of weeds that were everywhere (Most people may not notice but when you're chilling with a landscape design consultant it's the only thing they tend to see). After watching several staff members walk by empty handed I finally grabbed someone and asked them to tidy the place up a bit, her response: "I'm not sure who's area this is, I'll check with my manager." Personally I don't care who's area it is - all employees of the place should be empowered to keep the place spic and span for their guests comfort, right? We're not at a dive bar for f sakes. Next issue was visiting the small pub referred to as "The Shack". Lovely hostess inside who was apparently living on a deserted island in terms of glass restocking because when I ordered another beer was as asked "would it be OK to reuse your glass?". Well for the $5.75 price tag I would honestly prefer a new one but who am I to quibble, thirst prevailed. Another area where employees should be empowered to offer a discount to compensate for underachieving. Similar to other reviewers I am a dog owner, appreciate them, but also believe there is a time and place for them, having non-service dogs defecate or squabble with others where people are trying to enjoy a meal or a pint is not one of them, I really hope they figure out a happy medium soon. Our room (#325) was amazing, well appointed, comfortable and surprisingly quiet. We slept great and enjoyed a really nice breakfast by ourselves the next morning. The place is so quiet, no dogs, no drunks, no dirty dishes left out, it was divine. Overall rating is a solid 3 after averaging out the following: 5-stars for morning experience, 4-stars for food, 3-stars for service, 2-stars for lack of floor managers to keep operations in tip top shape, 1-star for dog park atmosphere. read more

I'm bummed to see all the bad reviews. I have only been once now but I thought the property was really unique and I'm looking forward to going back and trying more of the restaurants and bars. We had lunch in the tiki bar up over the pool. I just loved the location and view. I had a noodle salad. They made some easy swaps to make it vegetarian and gluten free for me. The other folks I was with had burgers and salads. While I wouldn't say it's my favorite restaurant, I would eat there again for sure. My salad was a bunch of greens, 3 pieces of butternut squash, a couple of pumpkin seeds and that's it (16 usd) the other plate was a bunch of greens with 3 pieces of meat that didn't seem to come from the same steak (25 usd). The first time I came here, the service was mediocre at best. We had to wait for long periods of time for our server, and ask multiple times for what we wanted to order. The second venture here did not fare any better. My boyfriend and a couple of coworkers went out to the Woodshed for a night out tonight. He ordered a TNT basket which is supposed to come with peppercorn ranch. Each of the other guys had ordered ranch to come with their food too. When the food showed up, no ranch. So they ask the server for ranch. Fast forward to everyones last bits of food and asking two more times for ranch, one side of ranch finally shows up. Then the shuffle board incident happens. The servers had shifted sections and one server clears the table they were using; jackets, beer and all. Doesn't even ask if it the stuff belongs to the guys next to the table playing shuffle board. I don't know about you but In my experience, typically, people leave two jackets, a half empty pitcher and a full glass of beer on a table when they leave. Then when the jackets come back, the beanie that had been in his CLOSED pocket, was no longer in his pocket. Do servers regularly empty and separate the contents of personal belongings when placing them in the lost and found? Really? When the bill finally comes, there is a 75 cent charge for ranch. Ranch that nobody got to enjoy with their food. And when confronted, our server simply removed the charge for the ranch. No compensation to any of the other meals that did not receive ranch, no compensation for the pitcher that we asked for him to replace. Nothing. Not even so much as an apology. The atmosphere and the food here are lovely, but we as a group have decided that with extremely poor service, we will not be returning again. Y'all need to get your it together. This is our first stay at Anderson School and it has not disappointed. Our 2 night, 3 day stay has been a wonderful Spring Break getaway. The service has been friendly and the amenities fun. Other reviewers have commented on the slow service and trouble with parking, but we definitely didn't have the same experience. That could be because we stayed mid-week, when things were quiet. A swim in the amazing pool each day, Happy Hour in the Tiki Bar, Beauty and The Beast in the movie theatre, shuffleboard and pin all in the Woodshop all while enjoying the craft beer brewed onsite. Wonderful for both grown ups and kids. We went offsite for a day in Seattle, which is a bit of a trek in weekday traffic but doable. Dinner at Julio's in Bothell didn't disappoint. Loved the tiki bar! At first, we thought we would stay at The Tavern, but the wait was insane. Then, we looked at The Wood Shop. Wasn't packed, but there was no bartender or server there for 10 minutes so we decided to put our names on the list at The Tavern and get a drink at the Tiki bar. Once we got settled and had our drinks (which were awesome and the guys behind the bar were super friendly) we got a text to let us know that our table was ready at The Tavern. The bartenders were kind enough to call over and let them know that we would need about 10 mins and we were able to relax a bit. We ran over to the Tavern, sat down outside with music playing and took a look at the menu. The best looking thing on there (in our opinion) was the Chicken, and frankly, something seems wrong about paying $25 for a chicken dinner. However, since it took so long to get this table and we had already left our comfy bar stools at the Tiki Bar, we decided to sit and wait some more for our server while deciding on food. 10 mins went by and no one had greeted us aside from the person who brought over some water. We sat for an additional 5 min and then decided that we were much happier with the atmosphere at the Tiki Bar.We went right back and walked in and both guys behind the bar said "heeeey! we knew you would be back!" with big smiles. :) We finished off the night with more great drinks and some fish and rice bowls which were awesome. Love the Tiki Bar (clearly) but I can see how some would not. Dark and moody, deep wood tones and dimly lit. Leather booths and Asian oriented menu. If you want light bright and airy, go to The Tavern. If you love the moody atmosphere and like the smell of chlorine from below, head over to the Tiki Bar! read more

We were so disappointed in our meal. I am a huge fan of McMenamin's restaurants and hotels but this restaurant was a big miss. The service was very slow, and the food was tasteless. I ordered the burger and it was cold with zero flavor. My husband's lobster roll was served on stale bread and again no flavor. We sent our food back. I am so sad that this restaurant is missing the mark. I really hope it turns around. read more

This review is only for the movie theater. We came to see the new Bond movie tonight. The overall experience was just ok. We really want to like this place but it's still going through opening pains and has several issues. Parking on a Saturday at 6pm is awful. Don't expect to find somewhere in the lot. Plan ahead to drive around the neighbourhood and find somewhere on the street. It's difficult to get around the courtyard area with people spilling out of all the restaurants and servers constantly trying to get past everyone with trays loaded with food. The restrooms aren't in the theater area so you have to leave to get to them, and they aren't well marked. The theater is small, which is nice, but it suffers from being built in a converted space. Only about half of the theater is stadium seating. The rest is on the floor, and you'll spend the movie looking up at the screen if you don't get there early... which you'll have to do, since many people appear to come early and order food. It also got very warm. The most annoying part, however, was the two hot green pixels on the projector. I was constantly thinking someone had a laser dot on Bond, then would remember no, it's not part of the movie, it's just a brand new theater with a green dot right in the middle of the screen (plus a buddy dot 1/4 of the screen in from the right). read more

Went to McMenamins Anderson School yesterday as a paying customer and I was extremely happy. The grounds are beautiful, the staff is friendly, engaging and accommodating and the food/drinks were delicious. I had lunch at Tavern on the Square and sat at the bar. Enjoyed a couple of seasonal ciders and a tasty sandwich with a side of fries. The first day of any restaurant is stressful but the staff had it dialed-in. They were cool under pressure, focused on the customers and smiling. Special commendations to Drew, Celia and Diana behind the bar at lunch opening day. They made my visit pleasant and I will be back, in large part, because of their great service. read more

This place needs Bar Rescues Jon Taffer. While some of the spaces are interesting and unique, the food is pretty boring and the service is terrible. If you do come take an Uber or taxi as the parking is complete mess. Once inside the bar (Woodshop Bar) getting a seat is nearly impossible, and ordering a drink consists of standing in a 25-30 minute single-file line at the end of the bar; there is no walking up to the bar or flagging down a bartender. They also don't serve any cocktails or hard alcohol after 10pm, and ordering any food takes longer then ordering a drink, and that's if you can find someone to take your order. If you're looking for a bar that's overcrowded understaffed, with long wait times, and barely mediocre bar food this is the place for you. read more

I was hoping for a great experience but was disappointed after having dinner at the Tiki Lounge. Service was slow from greeting all the way to bringing our food out (40 minutes later). We go to the Kennedy school mcmenimans location in Portland and have never had any complaints there. I'm hoping the service and quality of food will improve at the Anderson School. If anything the beer was the only positive. read more

Very disappointed. Concept is really cool. Service is brutal. They will walk up and pull drinks off the table at 1:30. With no warning. Appears to be "open" until 2:00, but this is NOT true. Also with no warning they come and pull pool balls at 1:20. Very very unimpressed. read more

So this is an updated review from my last. I would absolutely stay away from this place, worst experience I've had at a bar/restaurant ever. The first experience they served me a drink in a glass that was still filthy like they didn't even wash it. When I said something about it the girl said it was fine. This time they announced that they would be closing in 15 minutes and that if my drink wasn't gone they would be taking it away from me... Then proceeded to shout and kick everyone out like it was a house party. I honestly will not come back to this place even though it's only a few blocks from my house. I'll have to make the trek to woodinville to some dive bar. I work as a server in Bellevue and this would absolutely not fly in my restaurant. read more

The place is like most other McMenamins around the NW. Food just ok, but I saw a couple of new items on the menu so that's good! I ate at the bar in the main restaurant. No energy. The bartender was kinda stand offish and clearly was being a d*#@ to his voice workers. One of those bartenders that thinks it's "his bar". No fun to watch and he didn't engage any customers. Could have stayed for another beer but I'll find somewhere that I feel welcome. read more

My husband and I had a horrible first experience here and I don't think we'll ever be back! We went to the tavern and were told that the wait would be 45 minutes, so we decided to go to the Lagoon tiki bar. We were seated right away at some tables by the bar. Perfect! Yeah not so much. We ordered some drinks and then ordered 2 things off the menu. Our waitress forgot my straw so I politely asked for one and it took 20 minutes for her to get me a straw. Ok fine, it's just a straw so whatever, but that's not even the bad part. Our food took 1 HOUR to get to us. In the 1 hour time that we were waiting to get our food only 1 server came by our table once to ask how we were doing. I also had to flag someone else down to find out where our food was. To top it off, we got no napkins and no utensils. I had to go to the bartender myself to ask for napkins and utensils. I know this place just recently opened and there's still a few kinks, but the service is just unacceptable! No apology for the food taking so long and no one coming around to check on us!! But we ask for the bill and of course that came in less than a minute! I definitely don't think we will ever be back! read more

This review is for the Tavern. My first time here. The place is not busy around noon on Eater Saturday. Ambience is pleasant, noise level average, everything is clean and neat. Since I am by myself I prefer sitting at the bar where I am greeted by the bartender Alexa right away offering me a beverage and the menu. About 3 minutes later a different bartender walks by and grabs the menu to put it back into the rack. Fortunately I memorized my order. A Lobster Sandwich with Fries. The wait is reasonable. The Sandwich is delicious, a bit bland for my taste but that should not be a problem with some pepper or salt only if it was something in reach or alternatively something I could ask for if and when I can garner the attention of anyone. Asking for salt or Cholula was the plan. Waiting and giving up was the reality. I must be wearing my cloakiest clothes today. The fries make up in saltyness what the sandwich lacks and the though of putting a few fries into the sandwich actually crossed my mind. A big problem besides the fact that nobody cares to give me any attention is the fact that the fries are sub par to say the least, At $19 I would expect first grade fries. Heck at any price a patron should expect the best. When Alexa asks offers the check I mention that I am not happy with the quality or presentation of the fries and ask for an opinion which is not offered, I ask if they look better or worse than MCD fries being offered an interesting 'at least they are real fries'. No other remedy is offered. My regards are sent to the chef. Note on the picture, the crud between the refried fries is not bacon, it is the frier basket scrapings. The comment card is filled out. The tip is probably lower than expected. I will not ever eat here again. The woodshop however looks tempting, after all they have shuffleboard and pinball machines there. read more

McMenamins Anderson School - poor quality and presentation of French Fries. - Hotels Near Me - Bothell, Washington

I was pretty excited that a McMenamins opened up near by as I am a fan of the McMenamins down in Portland, but I was let down. To start the parking was horrible, unless you get there super early don't try to find on site parking, go to the closed Safeway next to the school or across the street at city hall (past 7 pm). The service was meh, I could tell the server was having an off night so I can let that pass. The food... I ordered the Anderson School Grass-Fed Burger which was actually pretty good, I could tell the meat was good quality, but the "shoe string truffle fries" tasted like regular fires, please don't try and fancy up fries if you're not going to follow through with it. I also ordered the Don Giovanni pizza to split with a friend and it was HORRIBLE! I highly suggest you skip the pizzas all together. The pizza was literally; dry dough with salami, tomato and olives on top. To make it worse the olives still had pits in it! My suggestion is to go there after dinner to meet up for a couple of drinks, the bar atmosphere seemed pretty cool, but do not go there hungry. read more
