We have never tried this hotel before. As I understand it, they just finished remodeling it, and it shows. It looks modern and fresh with attractive decor. The setup is nice too with the lobby area and the coffee machine area. They do have a shop, but they don't have beer or wine which is not very smart for a hotel. Customer service is a hit and a miss. Some of the employees are willing to go the extra mile and some are not. That's why I deducted one star. Also, our room was very hot, and the receptionist kept telling us that it takes 10 minutes for the compressor takes ten minutes. An hour later we were still dying (they offered to switch our room). They ended up replacing the heater/AC unit while we were out. The unit was noisy though. Because of the issue with the heat, I deducted one star only and not more because they tried. There's plenty of parking, and the windows are well insulated that if you don't open them, you don't hear the noise. Also they had unique black out curtains that fit in channels that don't allow any light to come through. I need them for my bedroom. We will definitely give them another shot. read more

Found bugs in the our king suite, called the desk and they downgraded us with no refund or even lessen the amount we paid. Next room we found a random dirty rag wedged between the laundry dresser and smaller dresser. Do not stay if you want to feel itchy all night. read more

What a great experience here at Holiday Inn Express in Bothell, WA. And kudos for helping out a fellow IHG employee! We came in at the hotel early at around 10am, knowing well we were way too early to check in. I was just thinking of dropping off our luggages at the hotel for safety reasons, while we continue to explore Seattle. Front desk was super accommodating and to me by surprise that she was able to check us in. That was super helpful for us and we were able to stretch our feet for a few minutes. The room was very well kept and clean. We had a good view of nature from our room. The lobby was nice with a cool with a giant teddy bear greeting us guests. Breakfast was a standard fare, but I always love their thin crispy bacon. Holiday Inn Express is just a few miles from downtown Bothell and just a stones throw form I-405. I would not hesitate to stay again the Holiday Inn Express Bothell when we visit Seattle again. read more

I am normally a 3 star rater for HIX. I spend a lot of nights at them each year and assumed when I walked into this one it would be the same. Decor and layout was familiar. This one, however, I seemed to enjoy more. The lady working the checkin was great. Loved her sense of humor. In fact all the staff I spoke with during my stay were like this. Friendly and out going. Then there were the other little things. I was asked if I wanted a cookie and she went to the kitchen for one right out of the oven. They still have USA Today papers when the others quit during Covid. Even the weekly riddle to earn 500 points. There is dedicated platinum elite parking out front with parking passes to assure the proper guests are in them. The indoor pool stays open until midnight and check out is noon instead of 11. All these little things added up to make this stay one that ranks above most. It is for that reason I gave them the extra star! read more

I made a reservation one day, the next I cancelled it and was charged $225, one nights stay for cancellation. I could not get that back. Make sure you read the small print. Outrageous for retired people to have to pay that amount for not staying there. read more

This low score has nothing to do with the service or hotel clerk. We have preferred Holiday Inn Express hotels when traveling and used some accumulated points for a 3 night stay. The room was pretty terrible. It felt like we were in a hallway. Two of us could not pass one another to get to the bedroom or bathroom. The room looked nothing like the pictures. I don't know if they stuck us in a small room due to using points, but if that is the case, that's no way to treat loyal customers. We canceled our last night and left early. I guess we will have to start accumulating points at another hotel branch. Our last 3 stays at Holiday Inn express hotels had problems with room, remodeling, etc. No longer are IHG our trusted favorites. Sorry, should have taken photos. read more

Room has disgusting sweet smell, bathroom smelled like chlorine'. I booked a double queen, they gave me a single king on ground level with connecting door. As a single woman traveling alone I never take ground floor , connecting door rooms. I checked in at 3:00 pm , well before the hotel had filled up. I asked for a different room was told I got what i booked and that they were booked. I know they could have switched me - but they didn't . The parking lot was not full at that time. I asked for assistance in opening window (which barely opened ) to air out room. It opened ever so slightly. The window had 2 Shades - one blackout , one that let in light , both when down obstructed the outside air from coming in , so to get air I needed to open them both - as a result anyone walking by had full view of my room which was right off the front parking lot! I contacted front desk and asked for a no charge cancellation so I could go somewhere else. Was told I would be given a cancellation number - but no paper work confirming no charge!!! I asked for manager , was told no manager on location!!!! Contacted customer service through IHG app was told only manager could authorized no charge cancellation and no manager on location. Front desk was friendly. Breakfast was the usual fare in all Holiday Inn Express we stayed in during our 10 day road trip. Our issue was there was no housekeeping in our room during our 2.5 day stay. We left our room each day about 1030 am and came back late evening to unmade beds, unthrown trash and no fresh towels. We saw housekeeping each day we left our rooms and expected them to clean our room upon our return each day like other hotels we visited. read more

Wonderful stay! From the moment I called and spoke to Billie Jean (she was amazing at answering questions and helping me book my stay. Very professional and polite!) to when I checked in. The woman at the front desk was very sweet and attentive to myself and my little daughter. The room was very clean and nice. I'm used to staying in primarily Hiltons and Marriotts, I will say that Holiday Inn Express was right on par with both of them, if not even better thought out. Updated looks, nice countertops, plenty of lighting, plenty of outlets, etc. Can't forget the housekeeping staff that was also very polite and helpful! Definitely will be back! read more

The hotel is convenient if you're needing access to the northern side of Seattle, though thanks to traffic most things are still a 20 minutes drive away. The parking lot seemed great but when we returned at 7pm we got the last spot in the immediate parking lot close to the hotel. The lady on reception was very nice - not overly chatty but efficient, helpful and friendly. Told us about 6pm cookies warm from the oven - loads left when we returned at 7 and she was nice about my kids taking seconds. The pool is small but functional and nice - not too cold, though no toilet pool side is a bit annoying. The room was clean, the toiletries helpful and the beds were comfortable- the appliances were a little noisy but it didn't bother me. So why 3 stars??? The waste - breakfast was a polystyrene, non-environmentally friendly nightmare. What wasn't polystyrene was plastic and there were no recycling facilities or composting facilities. The hotel is small enough they could use real plates and cutlery and install a dishwasher. It made me and my kids wince to use the stuff and to think of the waste going into landfill from this one hotel and all others like it. There was no need and for a hotel that encourages you to use towels thoughtfully, perhaps breakfast could be more thoughtful. The food was mediocre but really all enjoyment died because it was so grotesquely wasteful and damaging to the planets - understand that in this hotel even apples are wrapped in plastic! read more

Nice quiet location near the 405. The staff are friendly, hotel was clean, and service was great. When we first got to our room, it was super hot. The weather had been cold in the Seattle area, so I guess they cranked the heat in each room. Man it was hot. Beds were comfortable. They provide free DVD movies and gave us some microwaveable popcorn. This hotel wifi was decent, compared to many of there competitors. The only downside was the breakfast. The fruit wasn't fresh. Apples were soft and all the bananas were split open. The omelettes were definitely not real eggs. They didn't have any hard boiled eggs either. If there's any area that needed improvement, it would be the breakfast. The breakfast room wasn't that big. read more

We recently stayed a week while our place was being repaired due to water damage. The rooms were small but clean. The breakfast was good. The staff is what really stood out the most. Betsy at the front desk was beyond amazing. She was so friendly and helpful. Also Molly went above and beyond. One morning I was loading the kids in the car in a rush to drop my oldest at school and when I took our 1 year old out, my stroller tipped over. Our breakfast went all over the parking lot. Molly must have seen it through the window and came running outside to help me and even offered to bring us more food. We travel with 2 kids so Holiday Inn has been our hotel chain of choice & this hotel met our expectations for the chain. We were plesantly surprised by a text from the hotel while we were on our way with a reminder of our reservation & check-in time. The hotel itself is conveniently located near a shopping center so you can walk to find food & other necessaries. The lobby offers complimentary lemon water, coffee, & hot water for tea. Our room & bathroom were fresh & clean. The AC was loud & had an archaic red/blue temperature dial, so we were pleased to be able to crack open the window for fresh air instead. We noticed this hotel has a few innovative ways of being eco-friendly, including offering bonus points to rewards members who forgo daily housekeeping & full-size soaps/shampoos in the bathroom rather than the tiny travel-size bottles. Ice & vending are only on the 1st floor, so floors 2 & 3 will have to travel downstairs if needed. The indoor pool area is small with limited seating for non-swimmers. It can also get quite noisy if many folks are swimming. The room is warm & humid without an option to open the windows for fresh air. They do provide towels & a restroom nearby. The fitness center was the smallest I've seen but is equipped with enough to burn some vacation calories. The complimentary breakfast had many food options, & everything appeared warm & fresh. They even provide takeout boxes for folks that need to eat on the go. The staff were very friendly. Myra was working hard each morning to keep the breakfast well-stocked & the woman at the front desk (Rebecca?) was greeting everyone that came in, whether they were there to check in or not. read more

Although our room door was open when we first got to the room, we were happy to find a clean room with a fridge and microwave available for use. After dropping off our belongings and drinking a few beverages, we rocked the socks off of the Denny's lounge, which is just steps away from the Holiday Inn Express. The karaoke was exquisite, although I'm not sure everyone else there was as impressed with my vocal talents as I was. After last call, we came back to the hotel to find a very helpful gentleman a the front desk who went out of his way to make sure we drunkards were taken care of. Thanks, Yulie (however you spell your name). The continental breakfast was adequate, but the "eggs" were similar to plastic discs. I have also never tasted coffee so bitter and disgusting, but you can't complain. Overall, great place to stay, if your goal is to sing your heart out at Denny's next door. I want to first highlight that the night attendant, Rebecca, gave us the worst experience that we ever had at a hotel. At check-in late afternoon, Rebecca was very rude and condescending and made sure we did not feel welcomed here. We did let that go and did not want to let her ruin our trip. The last straw was when Rebecca rudely asked us what our room number was when entering through the front lobby after going out (she must have forgot that she was the one who checked us in 2 days ago) and wrote our room # down on paper. I felt harassed and had enough of her rudeness so I asked to speak to the manager above her and she refused to give us that information and responded "You have a problem or something?" We ended up finding that out on our own. Throughout the entire stay, my husband and I would return from the back of the hotel at night rather than the front lobby so she won't ruin our trip even more. We shouldn't even have to do that. My husband and I travel a lot, and we have never felt so unwelcomed and harassed. At check out, we got a hold of her manager and found out that she has been getting a lot of complaints from several guests as well and will be addressed. PROs: - Great location. Surrounded by lots of restaurants, a grocery store, gas station, etc - Swimming pool is open until midnight for adults. We really enjoyed the Jacuzzi and the pool is heated at night. They provide towels at the pool - GREAT variety of breakfast - Lots of free parking CONS: - Rebecca the night attendant (please see details above) - Walls are super thin. We would wake up early morning to doors slamming from other rooms - Elevator is very slow and cramped. We did not bother to use the elevator again and used the stairs instead - The cleaning service knocked on our doors twice in the morning around 9:00am (waking us up). We stayed here for a "staycation" for our anniversary based on the great reviews. Sadly, our room was very musty smelling and the carpet was rippled and bunched in places, leading me to believe they may have had water damage at some point that wasn't properly dealt with. It was such a strong odor that we needed the window open all night. Also, the room had ants. I alerted the front desk to this and was dismissed being told it was an 'old hotel'. I'm a platinum member due to all the traveling and I have never been treated so well by a hotel staff. They have all the extras you would want: they gave me bottles of water at the front counter (everywhere else I have had to pay for them), they make fresh hot cookies after 7pm (and they are delicious), they had the crib I requested waiting in my room when I got up there (thats a first), they had a DVD player in the room and movies to rent at the counter for free, and the young man at the front went out of his way to be as polite and courteous as he could and he did a great job! My wife was so impressed she couldn't stop taking about it. Anytime we come to the Seattle area we are staying here. read more

We stayed here for three nights and found a very well run place. The staff was friendly and even made cookies for Thanksgiving evening. The breakfast was the usual HIE quality and the breakfast area kept clean and well stocked. The room was a little warmer than preferred and lowering the temp. was not possible. After staying here for nearly 2 weeks, I was pleased with the this hotel. it was comfortable and offered everything I needed in a place to stay. The room was a good size and offered a microwave and mini fridge as well as all the expected features of a typical room. The staff was friendly and 10 out of the 11 days I stay the breakfast was fully stocked (one day it was a little thin but still offered a selection). Both of us stayed at the holiday Inn this weekend and we were so happy with out choice. Front desk receptionist was so sweet to us. I arrived with a confirm reservation but was denied a room until the next day. Another guest in our party with a similar name canceled for the day I arrived and they cancelled my reservation instead. They wouldn't release the room to me despite explaining the situation (the other person wasn't reachable at the time). They were completely unhelpful in finding other accommodations. The manager must never work, because I tried to talk to them numerous times throughout the rest of our stay and they were never there. When leaving the desk attendant took my name and number and said the manager would contact me but of course they never did. Update: The manager did contact me and credited one night of my stay. Great hotel, very quiet, and very nice and helpful staff. Warm cookies in the evening... hard to beat. The deluxe continental breakfast was quite deluxe. Eggs, pancakes, biscuits and gravy (awesome!) and the usual other fill. Our room was very clean and the bed quite comfortable, not too firm and not too soft. Good location off the freeway, with a good variety of restaurants within walking distance. Got a great price from Hotwire, and talked to another guest who used Priceline for an even better price! The wi-fi worked great and the fitness center was just enough. Pool was quite chlorinated, so bring you eye drops! Free parking! Will definitely stay here again. read more

So we have only stayed for one night so far and are staying for an 8 day business trip but so far so good! The room is nice, nothing extravagant, but comfy bed, comes with a microwave, fridge, and a dvd player (with free rentals at the front!) The two people I have encountered at the front desk have been super nice! The first guy made sure I got all 8 of my requested extra hangers (I know I'm a pain) and the girl there later in the evening helped us pick out movies, and even got us milk for our free hot cookies they serve (so sweet!) The part that has surprised me the most so far is the free breakfast they have. Everything from juices and coffee, bread, bagels, toast and fruit, but they also offer eggs, turkey or sausage patties, cinnamon rolls, yogurt, oatmeal.. it's a lot! I was pleasantly surprised when I went there for breakfast this morning! I saw that the pool is pretty small but it is inside so you deal with what you get. The gym only has one seated bike, an elliptical, a treadmill, one bench but there are free weights from 5lbs to 50lbs and if you know what you're doing, you can do a lot with that! If we ever need to come back to the area, and if the rest of the trip goes well, we definitely plan on coming back here! read more

I visited this holiday inn express and I had a terrible experience. First when I got into my hotel I opened the toliet cover and was about to use it when I relized that it had no seat. How in the world do you take a dump without it! Then I called the front desk to move us. Then they moved us to a room with a shower the faucet that water comes out of was not attached to the wall and it looked like it was going to fall any minuet. I was too lazy to ask for a move beause it was only for one more day. Except for theses bad things it was ok. read more

The Holiday Inn Express was a great pick because it was clean, looked nice, had a nice free breakfast, it was quiet, and affordable. Had my parents had a bad experience, I would be typing a bad review right now, but obviously by my complements my parents enjoyed their stay, and they would stay their again, so five stars to the Holiday Inn Express. read more
