    Stains with horrible smell

My son and I had booked this room specifically because it included a pull-out couch for him to sleep on. However, upon attempting to use it, we found it in an utterly unsanitary condition. The mattress had an overwhelming odor, visible stains, a hairball, and even dead bugs. It was completely unusable and made the entire room smell unpleasant. I've attached photos for reference. We immediately requested a room change, but were told the hotel was fully booked. Additionally, we were informed that management wouldn't be available until Monday--the day of our checkout--leaving us without any proper resolution during our stay. After sending this information to the manager there has been zero response. The most common sanitary dirty hotel I've ever stayed at.

I stayed at this hotel for more than 4 years. I expected to be there a few weeks but rent prices went up and I got injured in a car accident so I stayed much longer than I expected. When I moved in, it was about 25% smoking and they were all lumped together. I had no problem with that. They kept those people on the 4th floor and far away from me. I had horrible allergies. Then, after a year, they said they were becoming 100% non-smoking. That was code to come on in and smoke as much as you like. They were smoking drugs, cigarettes, etc. I have witnessed it with my own eyes, seeing the air filters and sprinklers wrapped up. I believe they say they are 100% non-smoking to get a break on their insurance. But they keep taking down signs that were agreed by other managers to keep up. It's a mess. I still live there but am trying to get out. My health is up and down so I am not able to move at the present time but I have been fighting with management ever since about the horrid smells. They agree to do things and lie about it. Don't go here. On top of that, they leave trash in the trash room all weekend and it stinks to high heaven. The laundry room has had three of their 6 dryers broken for more than 2 months and the manager keeps refusing to turn in a claim to get them fixed. They hire females for the night shift and they aren't allowed to come from out behind their desk because it could be potentially dangerous. Don't stay here. It was a pretty decent place 4 1/2 years ago but it has gone downhill and the current staff is pretty useless.

We booked a few nights through Expedia, as our home is undergoing some demo work. We opened our room, and it's seen better days. It's very grimy and despite the web saying it's a fully equipped kitchen, there are no dishes or cutlery. Other hotels I've stayed at would have cutlery and cookware already in the room, along with basic amenities like dish soap, paper towels, or dishwasher tabs. The bathroom was older than me, and the towels were stained (a light tan color) and dirty, but folded. The two roach bait looking things (see my pic) are apparently security devices, according to the front desk. I do not think this place is safe if there are security issues. Either way, it is gross and both me and my family walked out after 15 minutes smelling of cigarette smoke! I have never heard of Extended Stay America before, and I honestly don't know how a place like this can be allowed to charge people and have guests! We will try to stay at a brand name hotel like the Hilton or Marriot in Bellevue instead, even though it is a little further south. I'm from Japan, and this was a shock to see!

I think the team lead missed something during the room inspection.

I feel like I have an apartment with a kitchen, not a hotel room. There is a dining area, multiple tvs, and the desk is large enough for me to work. So grateful. I also LOVE the access to the trail system directly from the hotel, this is so lovely! Strong WiFi in buildings 5-7! There is a lot of random weirdness about. There are random floods/leaks outside- there is one parking spot by my building that is always flooded so nobody parks there. There are also just random mud puddles and holes on the grounds, so I definitely wouldn't bring a kid here. The back lot is also kind of a sketchy gathering place- some stolen cars (recently found by police) and tons of cigarette and marijuana garbage all over. The cops have been here several times during my stay to find stolen cars and arrest people for the distribution of some pretty serious drugs. Avoid staying in buildings 8 or 9 and you should be clear of it. This hotel is VERY smoke friendly. To the point where I feel like they encourage it. The grounds usually smell of smoke and there are always smokers about, including some of the employees. They have smoking stations all over and every picnic table has been taken over by smokers. There are also cigarette butts littered all over the place. If I were staying for a week or so, I probably wouldn't have noticed any of this, but it has become part of the lore I have become apart of in my extended time here.

I got a confirmation email immediately after booking which was convenient. They allowed me to modify my reservation easily when I needed to change my arrival date. The decor and interior design is beautiful, I wish I had taken more photos but I got so sucked in to exploring I barely used my phone this stay. There is not a single bland square inch of this property, everything is thoughtfully curated and well designed. I loved how every wall has hand painted art on it. The lighting both indoor and outdoors is warm and soft, which is such a rare treat in a day and age when everywhere else has harsh cold LEDs everywhere. The rooms are dark but in a comforting and pleasant way. There are large windows that let in plenty of natural light. I was extremely impressed with the cleanliness of the bathroom in our hotel room. For such a wet, humid environment, it is nearly impossible to have a bathroom without mold, yet they accomplished this somehow! My husband and I were fascinated, this is probably the only bathroom we have ever seen in our lives with absolutely zero mold. There was also NO dust in the room whatsoever. We got the Romance Package which included a bottle of champagne (nicely placed in an ice bucket), engraved souvenir champagne flutes, a little box of 4 bite sized chocolates, and some floral massage oil, all of which was placed in the room prior to arrival.I appreciate the pet friendly additions such as placement on the ground floor, doggie bags, and a bowl. The room did not have any pet smell either. All of the staff was incredibly kind and friendly, but Conor at the front desk especially went above and beyond to accomodate us. Even when the front desk was busy and he had multiple phone calls come through, he was attentive and patient with everyone. He also gave us a box for our champagne flutes and a wine stopper for our bottle so we could take it with us. We had one minor inconvenience during our stay and he made sure we were appropriately compensated. Really outstanding service overall from Conor! I also purchased a passport and received a prize for getting all the stamps. It's such a cute little addition that encourages exploration. If you stay here, you absolutley need to view the whole property! The lush landscaping and themed buildings are so special. All of the other businesses and restaurants onsite were amazing, which I will be reviewing separately. We visited 3 restaurants, and all 3 had amazing food. Very excited to check out all of the other McMenamins properties after this wonderful experience. Thank you Anderson School for an awesome stay!

I started out moving here temporarily, but now this is my home. I was injured in an elevator accident in May of 2024 due to their choice of elevator maintenance companies, and things have gone downhill since. I had to have rotator cuff surgery on my left arm, and while I still can't work and could press to have surgery on both hands, I want to settle that claim when my PT is done. It is a serious, long-term recovery injury. But that's just background for my current review. I was again injured on Thanksgiving night, 11/27/25, and they won't file an injury claim with their insurance company. That's all they need to do. It is very simple IF they are in compliance with LI, their insurance company, and other regulations. It has been more than 60 days and they refuse to act. I have to have the same surgery on my right shoulder now. Their elevators are dangerous; they pulled off their L&I certificate the day after I reported the second injury and won't tell me who now maintains their elevators. I have been calling L&I, and they may not even have a valid license for these elevators. Oh, they have 2, but one never worked, and the other one keeps going out. In my opinion (and physical evidence) this hotel is becoming more dangerous. I am trying to get out, but can't afford it as I am paying all my medical expenses out of pocket before I can settle with the first claim. I would avoid booking a room here until their elevator situation is fully corrected. They spent a lot of money (lipstick on a pig) repainting this hotel and doing other repairs to make it look good for the Summer soccer games in 2026. But they are not replacing the nonfunctioning elevator or getting the one that keeps causing problems fixed in time to prevent further endangering my health and safety during the upcoming games or in the meantime. They laid new white floors but wouldn't force the contractors to remove the stains from them. So it looks like shit stains on the floors. Then, when I said something, they blamed it on the guests not walking on paper, even though they never supplied paper for guests to walk on and had the floors open so we could access the trash rooms while the renovations were going on. When the renovations were done, I got info from the contractor on the products used to remove them from my room and sent an email about it all the way up to the general manager with photos, but the stains are on every floor, and even in the front lobby. Nothing. I have supplied them with photos and included them in this review. I think that speaks to their focus on booking fees and not guest safety. I would especially warn those of you who are elderly, have back or hip injuries, or other frailties to book elsewhere. I came in with a minor back injury, and after 7 1/2 years, I can't work for the last two years, I walk with a cane, plus have had multiple steroid injections to keep from major pain, plus now the elevator injuries. I hope I make it out alive. I am stuck and on SS until they settle my first claim or I'd be gone already. Stay away.

We loved her and she made our stay so wonderful! The housekeepers were also excellent! They kept the room CLEAN and did an amazing job - we didn't expect daily room service but they provided it and did a great job! We were slow to leave a couple of mornings from the hotel and I simply asked that they clean later in the day - we'd return later to an amazingly cleaned and refreshed room! The front desk lady seemed bothered to be bothered when we asked for extra pillows and towels (as they fill the room for 4 guests, but we had 6 with 2 staying on the pull out couch. When I asked when we could get the items (as we had gotten there later in the evening and were trying to settle the kids down for bed), she simply replied, "I'll bring them to you later." So we were left waiting for whenever "later" was in order to go to bed. The room was dated and gross (we had a large STICKY area on the carpet right in the middle of the walkway), but the cleaners did amazing with what they could do. The rooms all need updating. The fold out couch was super uncomfortable and thin, there were janky patch jobs all over, carpet worn thin, etc. I'd stay here again for the cleaners and breakfast lady and the cost of it, but no other reason.

Aside from maybe the clean carpet, bigger TV, and some light fixtures, I actually liked most things about the older room more. It's like Hilton poured a ton of money into updating the place with cheaper stuff. Older bed was more comfortable, older shower with a door was way better than new shower with a Walmart curtain rod and too short curtain, older AC/heater worked better, older fridge was better, older desk/chair was better, older couch was more comfortable, older TV had better sound. The staff was always really nice except for one person but I think he may have been disabled so gotta give him a break. Parking fees here are killer. Small laundry room given the size of the hotel, plus there were always machines broken. Big gym with decent equipment. Thin walls, you could hear most of what neighbors were saying but muffled. Being on the top floor at least saved hearing footsteps overhead, but the construction in the building would still rattle the walls. Pet friendly for a fee, they were nice enough to discount some fees after I got wrongly charged twice when switching rooms. The dog poop bags were out for almost a month but eventually got restocked. Hardly any grass around the building but a little bit along the busy street. Close to tons of shops, restaurants, groceries, etc. and the freeways. The breakfast options were nothing special but I've had worse. Housekeeping available every couple days or upon request, but they weren't very good about coming at the requested times. Overall the stay was fine despite the gripes. At least I earned a crap ton of Hilton points. Too bad the renovation set things backwards.
