Communication is horrible. Tent blew off due to winds and nothing but excuses. They inspected for us and when the previous owner purchased the house. Both times tented. Think they would have found or killed the termites that were under the siding? There are other companies to rely on that understand customer service and can get the job done. read more

Staff is very friendly, professional and knowledgeable, I would definitely recommend. Construction was halted on my project because the workers said they found substantial termite damage that would cost thousands to repair. When I called McKernan, multiple staff members worked together to open time in the schedule so to send somebody out within hours. Their assessment saved me at least 80% of what I was being told it would cost. They took time with me and made sure all my questions were answered thoroughly. I never felt rushed and they never tried to upsell me. Aside from using them during escrow 15+ years ago, I haven't needed to call them. I've been using McKernan for over 20 years, as a realtor, and as a homeowner. I recently had an inspection which revealed the giant support beam and some posts under my patio cover needed replacing due to dry rot and termite damage. I couldn't imagine how they'd replace it. Six of them showed up, built a support structure so they could remove and replace the largest beam. They were amazing. They did other termite treatment work as well. I've never seen such a group work so hard and efficiently. Once they were finished, it looked like new. I highly recommend them. read more

Negative stars. A million negative stars for this company. Because of an escrow disclosure we were coerced into using this company and I cannot express just how terrible they were to work with. During termite tenting the crew broke 60 tiles - information that the owner, Frank, told me he was going to get to me via a report. I had to call 4 times in order to get this information. The phone operators were incredibly rude and transferred me to dead extensions. When I left a message with someone, my call was not returned. I had to call back in order to hound them into giving me the information. One crew member was 2 hours late to an appointment, information he had passed on to his office and NOBODY called me to let me know. It took 5 calls to find out what was going on. The owner says one thing on the phone and then says the opposite when I called him back. Just terrible. Don't use them. read more

From Gabe our inspector to George doing the work to Alain and Cassie in the office... The whole team is awesome!!! The report was complete and clear. The work was a great value and completed on our tight time schedule. And we never had to wait to hear back from them. After an awful experience in our last real estate transaction (with Higgins termite for the record... I can't say I have a great deal of experience with a Termite Fumigation Company, but I would guess that most of us don't! And if we do, it's hopefully only a couple of times in our lives...I was just fumigated this past weekend....and I cannot say it was a "Pleasure", however, these guys (Tim & Frank & Ralph) did indeed make a difficult time so much easier. They answered questions patiently, made themselves available for more questions, and left my home in terrific shape. I highly recommend them if you ever need this kind of service. (PS: it's not as horrible as it may seem!) I have had to take 2 stars off.... part of their service was to come and repair some of the damaged wood (this is not a free service.. this is paid for in addition) and they have nice guys, but they are not great in the area of communication....and timeliness. I wish I could have given them 5 stars, but it is very telling when a company is essentially "finished" with a job...how they follow up....and the follow up is poor. read more

We used McKernan 7 years ago when we first bought our house for a termite and wood rot inspection and repairs. Our house had extensive damage and they ultimately needed to replace most of our wood french doors. We just hired them for a check up on the house. It was raining hard but their tech still came out and did the full inspection, including under the house in the rain - dedication. He was courteous, kind and accommodating. McKernan Inspections is a terrific company with friendly workers who go about their job with a wonderful work ethic. I was fortunate to have Gabriel S. inspect below our 100 yr. old home, the entire perimeter and the attic for menacing pests. His discoveries below the house included infested and cracked beams which were replaced by Carlos and crew. Three sets of double doors were shot and carpenters William and Jesus dropped in 3 new sets of doors and repaired the jambs and the wood trim with replacement of new wood. The pesticide crew Anthony and Gus spent two days locating all the sources of termites and other pests and chemically treated the attic, subterranean area and drilled and injected chemicals in suspected areas. Of course, the home office is efficiently run by GM Cassie and scheduler Alain and the pricing was fair. Folks, this is the best pesticide company I have dealt with in our home for the past 28 years we're here. Before you hire another company, please consider McKernan Inspections. I had a horrible termite problem and was recommended by my monthly pest sprayer to McKernan. I had read numerous reviews about how companies inflate this work and was very wary. The inspector showed up on time, gave me a quote, and it was way lower than what I had thought. The infestation looked rampant and I was sure that they would have to tent the house. They treated it locally, and did not try to sell me monthly termite service or anything. They did the work quickly, and I was beyond pleased! I have not had a termite problem since. I have another pest problem and have called them as I completely trust them to do the work. Would highly recommend them and use them again. read more

This is a follow up on my previous review on Tuesday: 1. Make sure you read all the reviews and comments by the owner before saying anything. In the review by Shlomi R on 5/4/15, the owner commented: "A fumi estimate could be given over the phone, but we cant perform one without a termite inspection". They did call me to give an estimate and it's more expensive than other company 2. I'm very sure anyone would know the difference when someone just hung up on you vs a bad connection. I can hear her answering the phone loud and clear, and when I said: I would like to get an estimate for fumigation. The phone just hung up. If you can't hear due to bad connection, you would still try to saying something to let them know instead of just hanging up !!! But I guess that's ok for them since that's how they measure their standard of customer service, by trying to defending and lying about it 3. I tried to keep this short, but this is another issue just to prove how bad their service and communication. The buyers agent ordered this company for inspection instead of waiting for my inspection next week. We gave the inspector our email to send us a copy since we are the owners and would like to know the estimate. After 2 days, still did not receive any report. My husband called back yesterday and the receptionist (hope it's not the same one) took down his email and said she will send us a copy, did not receive anything as of right now. Bottom line is: unless you want to wasted your time and deal with unprofessional and inefficiency, I suggest have a backup plan read more

My husband and I are very pleased with the personal interaction and work of McKernan, who were recommended to us by a neighbor's niece who used them for preparing her uncle's home to sell. We checked with three companies and appreciated McKernan's knowledge and thorough preliminary inspection, which determined our fears--termite damage! I was referred to McKernan Inspections years ago by my mother after she had used their services twice before. When we bought our new house we used McKernan and were extremely satisfied with their service. We inherited a home recently which needed termite tenting and I called and spoke with owner Frank McKernan, he was extremely helpful and shared a great deal of information with me. I told him we are looking for a new home and Frank let me know how changes over the years made termite extermination negotiable when purchasing a new home. I was surprised by the negative reviews I read here and I asked Frank about them and we had a long discussion about it. It seems that some clients who are disgruntled were buyers of homes whose owners forced them to pay for the extermination. Nevertheless, I appreciate how professional and how easy it is to reach Frank McKernan. He's a great guy and if anyone has any problems with his company I suggest you give Frank a call!!! read more
