When you pay by the hour and you've discussed the amount of hours you are going to use to move your stuff, then your stuff that you quoted to them was underwhelming to what they expected to move then it should not go over the time quoted. It still took them 40+ minutes over amount of time we had discussed - that annoyed me. Turab knocked off the excess time and apologized which I appreciated. It shouldn't have taken the extra time. One of the guys who was moving me didn't seem as experienced in moving people as the other. Everyone has a start somewhere and I respect that. I am not disrespecting the fact that the man has a job and was doing it, but if you're looking for speedy moving, I would recommend getting a third set of hands to help. In my case, I really don't think I needed 3 people, but if it would have sped up the time and picked up the slack of the guy who was dragging, next time I might think twice and ask for a third person. Turab was really responsive (into the night) in answering my questions. I paid for 2 movers and a 17' truck which worked out well for my 1 bedroom apartment. Gary and Asam were awesome, they got to work immediately. They assessed how much stuff I had and wrapped all my furniture and anything fragile with blankets and plastic wrap. I wish I had more space to write out the complete story regarding my experience with Cloud 9. What started out well quickly turned into a nightmare. The moving team leader, Dennis, quickly became upset when he realized our move was going to take him longer than anticipated and was annoyed that he had to move in the rain. He complained openly in front of us and was completely rude and out of line. After his yelling fit in our home, he made my wife and I feel threatened to the point where we discussed calling the police. The moving coordinator and manager, Irene, is clearly not suited for management. Her priorities in her handling of our issues were concerning, to say the least. When facing our complaints about Dennis and his team's start time (which he lied about on the move authorization), her attitude quickly went south, and she decided the best course of action was to lecture and berate us instead while being extremely argumentative. Defending your employees is admirable, but completely ignoring their inappropriate behavior, not listening to the customer's side of the story will only lead to other negative reviews and complaints like mine. Long story short, Cloud9 wasted hours of our time and did not move any of our furniture or boxes after arrangements were made weeks in advance. This is a front/scheduling company and independent contractor operation (like many other movers)…read more We had a slightly complex billing situation in which one person (out of town) was paying for the move of a friend. They screwed that up completely (no communication with the driver/contractor at all about it and that is on the company). The truck missed its 2 hour window by 2 full hours. No communication at all about this fact from the company and no apologies from the driver at all. This meant we also missed the load-in window at the move-to address. In a town with so many buildings with scheduled load-out/load-in you have to hit your promised widows (or at least come close). The movers themselves were good guys. Polite, quick, and generally careful (one item did get broken). That said, they had the bad sense to tell us they had been up for 36 hours straight. Ignoring the ethics of such work rules, if this was all work for DC Movers, that's insane. All in all, I've had much better moving experiences with multiple other options. Use one of them. There are plenty of better options in DC.

One of the movers appeared to be intoxicated during my move. He was an older, shorter Hispanic gentleman, and every time he came near me I could smell alcohol. This made me very uncomfortable and raised serious concerns about professionalism, safety, and whether this contributed to the delays during the move. I was also charged a fuel fee for a move that was only 0.3 miles away, which felt completely unreasonable. On top of that, my final bill nearly doubled from the original estimate. I was charged approximately $350 for packing supplies even though I had already purchased and provided my own tape and wrapping materials and placed them in each room for the movers to use. I even have photos documenting this. When I questioned the charges, I was first told there was a misunderstanding and then told the supplies "weren't seen." Despite me clearly communicating that my own supplies were available, the movers chose to use company materials anyway. While I understand charges for sofa covers and a TV box, one of my smaller TVs had already been wrapped and I specifically stated it did not need to be boxed. They proceeded anyway and charged me for it. The most upsetting part was feeling pressured to pay the full amount before my belongings would be unloaded. After reviewing everything afterward, I truly do not believe the charges were fair or transparent. I gave the company an opportunity to resolve this professionally before posting this review, but the lack of communication and accountability has been frustrating. Customers deserve honesty, professionalism, and fair pricing -- unfortunately, that was not my experience.
