Just like their so-called corporate office, you'll end up getting transferred right back to the same location you're already having issues with. There is no real customer support--just a loop designed to avoid accountability. If you're okay with being price-baited, lured in with easy online setup, and then hit with steep rate increases within a few months--with little to no clear communication--then by all means, this is the place for you. Otherwise, don't bother. I would not recommend Extra Space Storage in Elkridge, MD. The manager, Ryan, is extremely rude and repeatedly reminds customers that he is "the manager," as if that excuses poor customer service. The overall attitude from staff has been dismissive and unprofessional. I also learned that Ryan and another employee, Jessica, placed comments about me in their internal system that were completely inappropriate. I attempted for weeks to pay my bill online but the system would not allow it. The month of February being shorter caused the system to push the next month forward, and it would not accept payment for the prior month online even though it could be paid in the lobby. The payment methods should function the same way, but they did not. Instead of addressing the technical issue or the customer service concerns, the facility attempted to move forward with eviction notices. When I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, their corporate office responded only about the fees being correct and never addressed the behavior of their staff or the service issues. The rent for my 10×10 unit increased from $120 per month to $172, which is a significant jump. I also noticed many units on my floor with red locks, which suggests other customers may be experiencing similar problems. If you're considering storage, you may want to look at smaller, locally owned facilities instead. In my experience they tend to treat customers with more respect and understanding. I will be leaving this facility, but on my own terms.

You do need renters insurance, and you can purchase from the site. My unit was on the 4th floor and the elevators ran quickly. There are plenty of carts to move your items. Ryan was the manager on site and was professional. Parking is limited and I found if you come on a weekend the spots could be all taken, so you have to wait. Overall 4 stars. Very clean and no smells! There is an app that will open the door as well.

    You had a service issue. I have used pods multiple times in the past. This time pods has…read morerepeatedly dropped the ball. I was scheduled for a pickup on Saturday. The driver did not pick it up claiming it was blocked. I have pictures and video to prove it. A long with witnesses, two of which even said they would move their car. Your driver said he would come back later. No call or text to me. And unresponsive when I reached out to him. He immediately cancelled the pick up starting w chain reaction that nearly put me in the hospital with chest pains. Finally it got picked up today but not before pods charged me for a pick up after pods screwed up. I have 3 moves left in my career. Those 3 could be pods. But not the way I was treated. I want a full refund. I won't ask for reimbursement for the 6 nitro glycerin pills I had to take because of the stress your company caused. You may not know this but your CS doesn't actually do any customer service. They are trained to deflect and place blame on the customer. They even refused to call the driver claiming they aren't allowed. If you do not resolve this to my satisfaction this will go to my lawyer.
