We stopped here for lunch on our way home and what a delight. We sat outside at the bar which was really nice. The wife and I both got burgers and the kids chicken fingers. We all enjoyed our meals. They had a food truck at Garage Brewery this past weekend for a carshow event and we ordered Fish and Chips which were burnt beyond belief! Not only did my daughter and I wait over 30 mins for our food, it had flies landing all over everyone's food. Our fish was so rock hard we had to use a spoon to break off the outside crust. We wanted a refund but the lines were long, it was raining its butt off, and those kids working the food truck didn't know what they were doing. My burger wasn't cooked. Med rare and raw are not the same thing. The server was nice and offered to remake our food (we declined) and only finished our fries. The cook on the other hand was snarky and said the reason the cheese on my father-in-laws burger wasn't melted because he ordered it med rare. That's not how that works. The staff is nice, but the ambience is a bit dull and though it was decently clean, it has a "sticky hole-in-the-wall bar" feel to it. Random awesome find with the family. Came in For a late lunch and was not disappointed. They excel at simple dishes just done really well. I had the Irish Car Bomb, and I recommend it for anyone who enjoys a good fried egg on their burger. There wasn't any one flavor that dominated but they all just worked really well. Driving back from OBX and saw this spot. We needed a pet friendly option for lunch and they had a great deck and patio so we decided to try it. Fabulous outdoor bar area and excellent service from Davis. We got two of the Irish burgers; The whiskey burger and the beer burger. Sooooo good and cooked perfectly. McGrath's has been on my list to check out for a bit now. We changed our original plans because they were busy and we were craving burgers. So I suggested McGrath's and it did not disappoint. All of the employees worked together as a team and checked in tables as they went by. The fried pickles were okay, the sauce was good. The burgers were on point. I just ate the best burger ever. I got the Irish Burger Medium Rare. The ambiance was very rustic with 6 large tables, some 2 toppers and a couple seats at the bar. Let me preempt this by stating that I rarely order burgers when going out. But, this is a burger shack and considering they use grass fed, never frozen, Guinness infused beef... it sounded too good to pass up. I ordered the Irish Car Bomb Burger described with fried onion, candied bacon, fried egg, and Jameson BBQ sauce. I ordered Medium with over medium egg. Sounded awesome. As you can see from the picture, what I received was a well done burger and an over hard egg. Ruined. I pointed this put to my server Davis and he apologized and stated this was good to know. There was no offer to recook and at the time of the check, he said he had taken it off. Well, he took off $3.25 of this $13 burger. I appreciate the effort, but seems a shame that with proper execution, this would have been a great burger. No excuses for a place that serves basically nothing but burgers, and starts with such a good product. There is true potential here , perhaps some time is need to work out the kinks. One more thought. Shame on the employees and proprietors for allowing the accumulation of thick dust around the vent and on the hood to hover directly over the area where food is prepared. Let me start by saying I get Covid but come on like I have literally tracked the server down several times as well as other guests. If you are in any kind of hurry DO NOT eat here. So I really wanted to like this place. I looked on-line and saw that they area a burger place. The first thing I think is if all they do is burgers they will be great. So we make the drive to check it out this weekend. Looking at the menu I had to ask a few questions to make sure that I ordered the right one. I went with the Irish Beer Burger and the wait begins. My wife and I were the only people in the place when we ordered and it still took about 30 minutes for the food to make it to the table. Not horrible, but I would hate to come in when they are busy. While waiting it gave me time to look around. The place has a cool laid back feeling, but I really wish someone would clean the front of the hood above the grill the vents and light covers. All mentioned items have a thick layer of dirt and dust just waiting to fall into someones order as it is being taken off the grill or delivered to a table! Now for the burger report the beef had a good taste, beer cheese was great, onions and bacon all great taste worked well together. The downfall is I ordered it medium and it came to the table well done. The problem is if all you do is burgers you should have someone that can cook a burger! The place is still new I may go back in the future to give it a second go around, but it will not be too soon they need some time to get it straight in my opinion. read more
