I was craving a good burger and fries so I decided to try this place out. I ordered the Irish whiskey burger and my fiancé ordered a burger they had on special this week. Both were delicious! We also ordered garlic fries and cheese fries. I don't usually like steak fries but they were very good. The garlic fries had a garlic sauce on them which was different. Hot and New is where we found this fairly new restaurant located in the strip shops located just past Hanbury on old 168 on the left if headed north... Yes, it was hot, the AC was on the fritz... My wife had a glass of wine served in a water glass but at least the wine was okay, very small amount for the cost... On to the burger... The pictures on the yelp site looked phenomenal and the presentation is actually pretty great... The size of the burger is large, for most folk, maybe normal for big guy who can eat but way enough for the normal folk... the veggies are fresh and the bun was soft and fresh making this a great experience but what was lacking was the flavor on the actual meat... They are flat grilling, okay, not a problem, but there was no real "flavor" on the meat, like some seer, no char, maybe some spices... it was bland... this the three for my rating... read more

I tried to call in an order after going there once because I liked the burger but when I called I was met with extremely rude service and told to "called back when I made up my mind" and that he "wasn't going to read the whole menu to me," because I didn't know the flavors of wings they had. I didn't know I was suppose to know there whole menu after only getting a burger there one time. I also wasn't on the phone for longer than 1min before getting told to call back. It was extremely unprofessional and when I told Conner it was,unprofessional, he just canceled my order all together. I understand you may be short staffed and busy but that's no way to treat customers, especially those who aren't familiar with the establishment. read more

We're burger fiends, so it was a no brained to try out McGraths after seeing the pictures online. The only complaint I had was my burger (Irish Whiskey Burger) was pretty dense. Overall the flavors were awesome and the burger itself was pretty large. The patty was just very dense/heavy and not my style, but you might like it! read more

Horrible service. After 10 minutes of being seated we had to ask for drinks and a menu. Another 10 -15 order was taken. 30 minutes later still no food. Customers that came in after us were being serviced. Finally we had to stop the owner and asked about order. He comes back and says he forgot to give the order to the cooks. Now the cooks are in plain sight. One has a nasty ball cap and no gloves. The other cook has no hair net or gloves. Touching food bare handed. The funny thing about this ordeal was that the owner / manager had the nerve to say hope you will come back. That's funny! read more

Not sure if the owners will see this but calling them separate as I know they own Tap It! Locally. Walked in and startled two guys playing on their phones. We were only ones there. Fries were over cooked and my friend asked for plain burger. Came with cheese. Told the server and he said sorry. Cook at one point was playing rap from his phone very loudly that we could hear it. We have been several times now and received great service and great food each time. I've enjoyed the garlic fries or the beer cheese fries. Stopped in for lunch with my wife. This was our first visit. We ordered teriyaki wings as an appetizer and the Irish Bomb and Whiskey burgers both came with fries. The wing were cooked really well. Nice and crisp as ordered. The burgers were very good. The fries were a little disappointing as they could have been hotter. We were the first customers of the day so I don't know how the fries could not have been warmer. Service was good. read more

I knew about McGrath's but had not been before this pandemic thing. We wanted to eat local if we were going to do take-out, and I was impressed by the social media work McGrath's did in the early days, so we gave it a try, and I'm so glad we did! The burgers are amazing--I like the car bomb burger--and so are the fries! This week, we got cocktails, too (Whiskey Blackberry Lemonade!), and it was so worth it. read more

This was our second time at McGrath's, first time was positive enough to have us come back. When we first walked in the place, it was empty but by the time we ordered there was over 7 tables sat. With only the two owners working and them trying to do everything. It was a failure! Even if you are a super server, 7 plus tables is too much. On top of that, my husband informed the owner that the men's bathroom toilet was stuffed with brown paper, but because they were the only two working nothing was done about the bathroom. Our burgers we over cooked and dry. We went with out drinks for over half our dinner. Can't say that we will be back! read more

This was a new restaurant for us. A little bit out of the way but not too bad. The restaurant was pretty warm inside but were in a crazy heat wave so not completely unexpected. Service was quick. The mixed drink and beer selections were good. We had several types of burger among our table and all were completely devoured when we left. They were all pretty good and cooked as requested. The restaurant filled up while we were eating so it seems to be a neighborhood favorite. We had an enjoyable experience, the prices were reasonable and the food wasn't over the top fabulous but it was a good meal overall. read more

We have been coming here since it opened and service has steadily declined since then. We've been coming here weekly. Over the last months it has been getting worse. Food quality and service. Tonight was the last straw - our food was wrong - overcooked and our son has to wait 30+ minutes for his food after they got it wrong. To top it off our bills were messed up between our group. I live nearby and had liked this place in the past for their burgers and quiet atmosphere. They are original and taste good. We normally don't go out to eat during the summer given the busy season and its fun just to cook on the grill. Last Thursday we heard their advertisement on the radio and decided to walk up and get a few Irish beers and a burger to support the local business. Upon arrival we saw people seated at 3 tables. Multiple tables were empty and no persons were seated at the bar (which is where we normally sit and watch that tv). After waiting at the front for quite a time, we were told by the hostess it would be 40 - 45 minutes to wait for a table. We informed her we only wanted a couple of drinks and a burger but no success. Why do you even advertise on the radio of your burgers, wings and Irish beer and spirits if you can't handle more than 3 tables at a time? How about changing your business model and order at the counter, given a number and retrieve your own food? Better yet, save the money you spend on advertising and hire more people. read more

I've only ordered a pick up order from here so I can't speak to the inside or the regular service but the people were friendly and I got my order pretty quick. The burger was juicy, flavorful, and tasted fresh not greasy. It was the best burger I've had in a long while. The fries were huge steak fries and perfectly seasoned and cooked. It was a delicious meal which I especially appreciated because I picked it up 15 min before closing and I know at that point in the night everyone is tired and wants to go home. We'll be back for a sit down dinner as soon as we can find a sitter for our kids! read more

Went in on a Friday for lunch. I had the Irish Car Bomb and my wife had the Luck of the Irish burger. My wife likes that they will cook them med-rare as I prefer medium. I will tell you that it is a top-five burger for me. I am not a connoisseur of burgers and I will not go out of my way just for a burger; meat should be simple. Next time I crave a burger, this will be my go-to place. Both were $13.00 a piece, with French fries and I thought it was fair to pay that much for a great burger...only costs a little more to go first class. The food here is above and beyond amazing. Burgers are quite large, but a decent size to split if you're not too hungry. Service was on point and our waiter was friendly. A very family-friendly air to it, and the ambiance of the 'Irish' Vibe was nice. The wait for food wasn't long at all, and the waiter was able to recommend things to us based on what we were stuck between. Something as simple as an Irish patty but the normal burger we wanted. Absolutely horrible service and the owner Facebook stalked me and wrote me a message that myself and my husband are no longer welcome in their establishments. They happen to also own the tap at local restaurants in Chesapeake, Western Branch and Norfolk. I want to point out that we have never had an incident of any of the Tap It Local restaurants, just slow food service sometimes. This was our 1st time at McGrath's Burger shack. Unfortunately we saw some unsanitary things from one of the cooks... MY husband said we were not goingto stay and we wanted to pay for our beers but was told by the server that we got it man, just go... Regulation or not regulation... the cooks had no gloves on and no hair nets. There was a female cook wiping her hands on her dirty T shirt then touching raw meat, cooked meat and Burger buns after doing so. The cooks are out in the open for customers to see if they are sitting at the bar. If they are going to be out in the open they at least need to appear to be clean read more

This is my first review. I've never felt compelled to write one until now. I wanted to like this place, but there is one reason I cant go back. Stay tuned for that. One guy and one girl working the front with a female cook. Service was decent until a man came in and sat down at the front. At that point, the guy serving us seemed to forget we were there. Had to flag him down several times for refills as he held a constant conversation with the man up front. I can overlook the so-so service if the food is good. Our table got several burgers and they were actually pretty good. The meat was juicy and the fries were tasty. Now for the bad part. From where I was sitting, I could see the back door and the parking lot. I watched as the female cook took a smoke break in her vehicle. No problem there as everyone needs a break. The worst part was when she came back in and never washed her hands as she started cooking again. I can overlook look a lot of things. Every restaurant has a bad day once in awhile, but this was just plain disgusting. For that reason only, I will never go back. read more
