I was looking for the vehicle that I first saw on the internet. I was most impressed when Alex immediately showed me some minor damage to the car that must have occurred while parked on the lot. I am writing this review as one of the sales men Jacob Webber needs to be commended by your company for the outstanding character he possesses. He blew me away today when he reached out to me through Facebook about a fundraiser for my daughter's school. He asked to buy the items they are selling and asked me to donate them to a family in need. I was speechless from his kindness. Jacob sold me a vehicle last summer and has no obligation to continue to do kind things but has done so. He checks in with me when I have service appointments. Right after I purchased my vehicle he drove from Cedar Rapids to replace a part that was broken when I purchased it. And months later he offers to donate to my daughters school fundraiser. Last weekend of September I walked into the doors of this dealership to trade my 2016 Rogue in for a new 2018 Acadia. I worked with Lyndsay Butterfield. First, they tried to low ball me tremendously on my trade in. So my final offer was the trade in amount I wanted plus they cover for 1/2 the cost of an upgrade for GPS. Lyndsay stated they would get back to me middle to end of the following week. Nothing and Nothing for several weeks. I've called 5+ times, spoke to him 3 times with promises that he's working hard on it. I've left 2 messages on his voicemail. Last one was one that expressed my displeasement and frustration over this fact. I'm close to finding a dealer to put this upgrade in and send them the bill. They are all about customer satisfaction until you sign a $40K+ and drive off their lot, then your continued business means absolutely nothing. At this point, McGrath has lost a customer. read more

This company is the worst. I wish I never walked into their company. They charged me 3 times the price of my car and it's a piece of crap. After two months I had to spend 3000 dollars on engine work and they did not fix the problem. I seen the finance company ( Credit Assurance) on the news for being a predatory lending company. It hurts because I told these people I was poor and in need of help, and they screwed me with no Vaseline, my car is back in the shop for more problems. it's been a nightmare. I was treated well here the SECOND time even though they're the reason I'm upside down in my current loan. I should have come here the first time instead of going to the Chevy dealership. This time they were very understanding, even though I couldn't get the car I wanted due to the first deal I made w the folks across town. Had an appointment for 9am. I dropped off the car on time, the dealership did not even look at it until 2:30pm. What's the point of scheduling service if they don't even look at it for 5 and a half hours after. Also, my service rep did not call me with the results, I had to call him multiple times. This has been the case every time I had service done at this dealership. Now my warranty is up, I will never bring it back to them for work. read more

I absolutely do not recommend this company! I am out of state and am trying to get a vehicle shipped to me; I have put 10k down and already signed the contract but they still won't ship it. I have been told 5 times it was going to ship out but every time they have some reason pop up not to ship it. Now they say they won't ship it until they receive payment for the remaining amount from capital one; ok fine; I have called capital one to ask them to expedite payment but they haven't even received the contract! McGrath insists they have to send the actual copy of the contract but Capital one has told me multiple times that that is not true, they have even asked me to do a 3 way call with McGrath so they can tell them they can submit it either electronically or via fax but they didn't answer my call...which is a common issue! Very, very few of my calls, emails or texts get any sort of response after I paid a down. They still insist that they have to submit the actual paperwork via overnight mail (something about working with capital one indirect instead of direct but capital one says that is also not the case) which they told me they shipped on Thursday but now it is Monday and Capital one still doesn't have any paperwork. This is so weird even Capital one is saying they need to do an investigation of the situation as it sounds like something more is going on and I am just getting the run around. I have even explained my issue in response to some head of sales email asking how the deal was going; think I received an answer? Nope! Just ignored. read more

I have my car repaired at this place with misfire problem. When they returned the car to me after 4 hours. My car can not back up any more. I argue with them and they said it is the problem of the car and has nothing to do with them. When I call them the next day, they(his name is Eric) even hang up my phone. Before I paid the money, which is 500 dollars for misfire problem. They told me the back up just slips and can backed up after the engine of the car cools down. But the truth is that I can't back up any more even if the engine cools down. I paid 500 dollars to you and they made new problems to my car such that I have to pay another 1000 dollars on my transimission. How bad it is!!!!!!!!! read more

The service department does not understand customer service. We have dealt with this dealership since it was under Lithia and had hoped it would improve when McGraths acquired them. Unfortunately the service department has not gotten any better. The service area has not returned repeated messages concerning services, they have schedule services without notifying us (we received an automated e-mail the night prior to a 7 am appointment), and we have been promised call backs that have never happened. If you have the opportunity to use a different location for service, I would use it. This dealership/service department needs to be improved. After talking with other people I can assure you this is not a unique experience. read more

Typical used car sales people. Typical used car sales atmosphere. Typical used car sales tactics. Bait and switch. Made appointment 3 days in advance to look a 1 specific vehicle. I get there (1 hour drive one way) and I'm told that vehicle is no longer available. Of course they didn't bother to call me and tell me that. I had an appointment to be there at a specific day and time!! They just said "we'll get you into something else." I had poor credit and needed a vehicle pretty bad and they took full advantage of that. Ended up with a vehicle I didn't want and don't like. Over paid by thousands of dollars. Yes, Part of that is my fault, but what a horrible company to do business with. I'll never go back there. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Against my better judgment, I bought a 2012 GMC Terrain from McGrath. We had purchased a vehicle from them before and it was not a good experience. Our options were limited. The sales rep was great and I loved my car. I should have known it was too good to be true. About 2 months after my purchase, I noticed when I started up the car, it literally screamed. Of course, it was winter in Iowa but it was to the point I didn't want to drive it. Once it started, it ran rough and was not responsive. I took it into McGrath along with a recording of the start up and the noise it made when driving. I mentioned my husband thought it might be the fluids were not appropriate for cold weather. They told me it wasn't the fluids. After keeping it all day, they called to ask if they could keep it overnight as the noises were not occurring anymore. They wanted to start it cold. The next afternoon they called to tell me they had fixed the issue. Someone in the shop found a bulletin from GMC. The power steering fluid was not correct for the weather - shocker. 4 months later my car suddenly would not start. It seemed as if the battery were bad. The next day it started up fine but a few hours later, I needed a jump. This time there was an engine light on. I made an appointment at McGrath and after a jump, was able to get the car over to the service garage. They called me later in the day and told me the issue was I needed a new electronic control module but it would not be in until the next day. The next afternoon, they called and said my car was fixed. I picked it up and 4 days later, it would not start again. It sounded like the battery was dead this time. After some very lengthy and totally frustrating conversations, they agreed to gave me a demo to drive and they towed my car for service. They called me to let me know they had fixed the issue. The battery had a dead cell. This is the same battery that they checked 4 days prior and reported in writing was working correctly. When I picked up my car, it was dark and raining and I was unable to check it properly. The next day, in the bright sun I noticed many areas of damage on the back end - like it had been backed into something. I called McGrath and after a few days the service manager called me back. I had to take the car in so they could photograph it. He felt that it was towing damage and was going to work with the towing company. After another few days, I heard the towing company said they didn't do anything wrong. McGrath said they didn't do anything wrong. They didn't know they had to check for damage when I brought they car in and they didn't work on the back of the car, they couldn't have caused the damage. They asked me to file an insurance claim and they would fix it with the insurance money. The problem is had the battery been checked as they stated, I would not have had to bring the car in again and the damage would never have happened. One weekend, a couple of months later I ran into a McGrath in public. I told him what had happened and he said that should never happen. He gave me his cell phone and told me to call him first thing on Monday. I did call and another shocker - he never called me back. The moral of the story, trust your gut and stay away from McGrath. Their service is below par and you can't trust them with the safekeeping of your vehicle. To anyone reading my review: The owner's "canned" response was not added by Lindsey McGrath. Bill Pierce has not attempted to contact me in over 5 months. His last contact was clear - either file an insurance claim or pay for the repairs myself. Neither option is acceptable. All my attempts to elevate this issue 5 months ago were ignored. read more

The sales team was fantastic and the sales manager Anthony worked hard to get me into the right car.
