Me and a friend were driving from Arkansas to Oregon in my parents Mercedes Sprinter. The turbo went out in Burlington, CO on a Saturday. A local named John recommended Mcgee Motors and texted one of the guys on our behalf. We limped it into Denver on Sunday and first thing Monday morning, these guys saved the day. Within a few hours, they had the EGR valve replaced and we were back on the road. I know for a fact, if we had gone anywhere else we would've waited days if not weeks to get the repair done. These guys were definately our Angels and saved our trip. So fortunate that a stranger sent us there. The rest of our trip was smooth sailing thanks to them!!! I will NEVER go do a dealership again. These guys are amazing and will do right by you. My last project was a new engine in a blue tech diesel they worked there butts off to find an affordable motor and helped me communicate with Mercedes on any recalls and costs covered if possible. Can't say enough about these guys. My Benz C300 was making a clicking sound during turns, so I took it to the Benz dealership service department. They said I needed to replace both front axles and the intermediate axle to the tune of $5,500!! Took it to McGee motors and they said it was in the drive train. Estimate to replace $1,400. I had them order the part, and when they went to fix it they realized it was just a loose pinion bearing attached to the drive train, (which they couldn't have seen until they removed the drive train). Total cost in and out $500. The true mark of a good and honest mechanic is when they do the right thing! They could have charged me for what they initially quoted and I wouldn't have know the difference. Do yourself a favor, avoid the dealership service department and go to McGee motors. Another experience at Al's recently. My Benz suffered a major rear side door dent while parked. Cost to fix it was ballpark $1200, which could have easily been $3000 elsewhere. BEWARE OF PRICE GOUGING!!!! We stated using Al's when HE was the owner. We were always pleased and the prices weren't outrageous. Yesterday we were charged $305 for a battery and $140 for an oil change. That's ROBBERY. My Lexus is typically $45 at Raceway Lube & elsewhere. And I've never in my life heard of a $305 battery for a normal car. I will NEVER GO AGAIN. We got screwed big time. I will advise everyone to STAY AWAY. read more

Took my Mercedes in for a second opinion on a "leak" the Mercedes dealership had found. The guys lifted my car, took me underneath and showed me the mechanics and what they look for in this kind of leak. They assured me there was nothing I needed to worry about, topped off my fluids and made sure I understood everything. I've taken my GL 450 to Al's for almost a year and a half. They are cheaper than the Mercedes dealership, faster than the Mercedes dealership, and way more fun. They are just good guys that remember your name and take good honest care of your car. A dealership, not to be named, wanted over $120 to change a head light for me and said it would take at least an hour. Al's did it in 15 minutes for $20. I've never gone anywhere else since. I've also price checked them on the internet for a few other things they've repaired for me and they are very competitively priced. So for that and their customer service I would without a doubt recommend these guys. read more

This place is under new Owners. They are amazing! I am a single mom of two ( and Love cars) I am always sceptical and want someone I can totally trust. I live in Boulder and I pass at least 3 Merceeds auto repair places on my way to See Dan and his family. I have only gotten the best service at the best prices. My car is my traveling office and mom mobile so it is the most important asset I have. I have been using them since the day they opened in June and i would not go to anyone else. They think a "Mercedes" tag on the car gives them license to charge four times what parts and service are worth! I brought my '76 Mercedes to Al's last year. It took them months to fix it, cost hundreds of dollars and my car broke down after I drove it twice. I brought my car to a different mechanic who found a golf tee that they had used to try and repair the carburetor. That's right. I paid $500 to have a golf tee put in my carburetor. read more

This is probably the second review I've done after over a year on Yelp, I just don't do these things. (the other was for a restaurant) But I can't resist here. I've been going to Al's Autohaus for 15 years to keep my three Mercedes running well. This was after some brutal (almost criminal) behavior by another shop and blindingly expensive bills from the local dealers. When the former owners recently decided to sell the business and retire it sent chills up my back that I'd lose my comfortable place for repairs and maintenance. Those fears are completely gone. The new owners are VERY communicative, reasonable in the pricing, and have surprisingly intimate knowledge of every system in these cars. I'm a gear-head, have to know how things work, have to know what the car's problem is, and why a particular job is done. I fly jet planes for a living, knowing the "systems" is part of my nature. Dan and Dustin have been bathed in the mechanics of Mercedes automobiles seemingly since birth. They've been able to answer in surprising detail every question I've asked. (and believe me, I've pestered them) I say all of this because KNOWING the systems involved is a fast track to repairs. I've had shops just "throwing parts" at a car hoping to solve something. These guys know. And thats great comfort. I have yet to use them for a "major" repair, just smaller stuff so far, but I have complete confidence in them. Another thing, they don't just look up the "canned" labor price to charge you for a job. They make an honest assessment of the time spent. This is unlike my experience at Walter's Star Service some years ago. (I bought a car from them so they did some initial stuff for me) They double-billed me. When I called them on it they cited the labor book and said "that's the only way to do it." I had them do 5 minutes work on my fuel injectors which had already been removed from the engine for a compression test. They actually charged me over and hour of labor to remove and replace the injectors a SECOND time even though they were already out of the engine.(!) I never went back. This was after they tried to scam me for a new $400 alternator that WASN'T broken. (I drove away with my "broken" alternator and fix it myself with a $13 regulator from Checkers) Many people would never know they've been "taken" this way. Big thumbs up here for Al's Autohaus. I broke the hood release latch of my car (the small plastic part that pops out in the front of the hood) and I was looking for the part and for someone to fix it for days. I went to other dealers and they told me that it was going to cost me around 150 dollars! Then I found Al's Autohaus and they fixed it only for 20 bucks together with the part in 5 mins!
