Dealing with car maintenance and repairs makes me weary. It's a necessary evil but I've always felt I was just getting what I was being sold and not fully what my car needed and/or more than it needed. I had an issue with my car that when taking it in to a chain place, I was basically told they didn't have time to figure it out & couldn't replicate the problem that as soon as I drove five ft from the parking lot, I could replicate. After this, I was recommended to try this place. HOLY COW. I will be bringing my car back here for everything. For the first time, I didn't feel skeeved on my car or like I was being oversold. I felt like my car was being thoroughly and properly looked at for the right things and at a fair price. They also went out of their way to get me back on the road quick. A friend of mine gave me Mike's information after I had an awful experience getting an estimate at another shop. I called Mike and from the first 2 minutes on the phone I could tell he was an "All American Boy" type. I am from a blue collar, farm area and he reminded me of the good, hardworking and honest people back home. From the start Mike was so understanding and listened to my concerns with the car, budget, and problems with the last shop. I brought my car down and he took one glance at my car and noticed it was from the East, where we DUMP salt on the roads. We talked in detail about my goal for the car to last me 3 more years and needing to stay to my budget. He made a priority list of work based on safety concerns and my budget. He broke down part cost, labor cost and what can wait (and how much that stuff would be and when he thought would be a good timeline for that work) With the budget I gave Mike he was able to do my front and back brakes, sway bar links, flush my transmutation, and a few other minor things for around the price the other shop gave me for back brakes and a trans. flush!! To say WOW is an understatement!! When I went to pick up my car the bill broke everything down to part and labor cost, and had reminders for work we talked about to do later. I just cant say enough about Mike's ease to talk to with no guilt, pressure or judgement about budget, work and educating me about my car. He is straight, fair and a great guy. I will be taking my car to him for years to come and have already told more friends abut him. They were incredibly helpful when I went in with all of my dash lights flashing. They took at look at my car at least three or four times that day as my dash lights kept going on and off and figured out it was the transmission, then they checked for recalls for my car and told me I had about 100 miles left where I could get it fixed for free at the dealership. I must admit that I have neglected my poor automobile for quite some time, and unfortunately it has caught up to me after 9 years. I also must admit that I have never had a mechanic that I could refer to as "my mechanic". Both of those changed, as my most recent car troubles no longer allowed for ongoing neglecting. Mike and his staff at South Birch Automotive were a savior. Although the work required to prevent my car from what I thought would be "exploding" was not cheap, nor would it have been at any establishment that is knowledgeable and trustworthy. Mike did his best to reduce costs, and explained everything in detail. He obviously knows what he is doing and is by no means intimidating. He kept me up to date on the status of my car while it was under repair. It may be difficult to get your car in immediately as they are always busy, that being a sign of people's faith in their service, but I assure you the wait is well worth it. read more

These guys are awesome-sauce. My husband was referred to South Birch by a co-worker, and he used them until he bought his new truck. He was suckered into the dealership's service plan, and he's regretted it ever since. He can't wait until his plan expires so he can come back to this shop. I have a 2001 Saturn, and I was a long-time loyal customer of Saturn's dealership in Aurora. However, when the Feds didn't include Saturn in it's bailout package back during the last recession, their shop changed ownership and not for the better. I started to suspect they were taking me for a ride when they diagnosed the same problem over and over every time I took my car in. When they told me my transmission was shot, and I needed to replace it ($$$!!!), my hubby suggested I get a second opinion at South Birch, and I'm so glad I did. Those guys were lying their little liar pants off. Mike took the time to show me where there was damage and told me that it was nothing I needed to worry about. He saved me thousands of dollars and gained a loyal customer. I've been taking my car into this shop ever since, and I'll never go anywhere else. They've always been professional and courteous. They don't talk down to me because I have ovaries, and they always take the time to explain everything that's wrong and how they'll fix it. They are the best shop I've ever dealt with. This is now my mechanic. When I told them what the dealership wanted to do for $1080 just to diagnose a problem, they diagnosed for free and then fixed it to the low tune of $60. I also got my brakes, rotors and front struts done and a thorough run through if the car done in preparation for an upcoming road trip. If you need a place to get work done, I've always believed small shops care more. This experience proved once again that that belief was spot on. read more

If I could give the shop zero stars, I would. On Monday, I made an appointment for Thursday. At 10 AM I left my car three hours later, at 1 o'clock, it hadn't even been looked at yet. I understand that things come up, but especially in making an appointment three days in advance that should not happen. I ended up taking my car and leaving without it being looked at. This is hands down the most honest shop I've ever taken my car to. A few years ago, I had a big problem with my old mazda and took it to Mike through a friend's recommendation. A neighbor referred me to South Birch when several area shops were not honest and over-charged me. One even ruined my battery in my car by leaving the ignition turned on the entire time was in their shop. Another shop did my rear brakes and before I even got it off their lot, they were rattling and loose. When I take my 1997 Honda Accord to Mike Mulvey and his expert team of mechanics I KNOW my car will be done exactly right the first time and at a reasonable cost. Sometimes Mike doesn't even charge me for very small parts. There is absolutely NO WAY I would take my car to anyone else. Mechanically it is like new and Mike and his team help me keep it that way. Mike will also run me back home since I am only a few blocks away - normally I don't think he does this for every client. When there are times I need to get to work, Enterprise Rental Car is just around the corner from the shop. This is a totally honest shop with honest people. I will try to tell you how awesome this place is, but words may not do it justice. When I took my car to Mike, he said the person who fixed it before butchered my car. He said he had never seen anything like it before. He was very compassionate about my situation and helped me out with the price as much as he could. When I arrived, he pulled the car up and noticed a sound so took an extra 45 minutes to tighten it up, and I didn't even ask. He was extremely honest and it's hard to find that being a female in my 20's who doesn't know much about cars. He is a great guy and the place is incredibly fair in pricing. I guarantee you won't find a better guy in Denver. With that said, maybe tip him a little somethin on the way out, he deserves it! read more

Best. Mechanic. Ever. We have been taking out older Toyota and Honda here for a few years, and Mike has always looked after us. He gives us a list of what is urgent, and what can wait a while depending on our financial situation at the time. He is great at keeping older cars going forever!
