Wanted to support a family owned local business in or near Littleton and this place seemed to have great reviews. I knew I needed shocks and struts on my minivan and other reviews were for the same. Called them last week, got a quote quickly on shocks and struts and scheduled a day I could make it. They were fast, friendly and most importantly honest! While installing the shocks and struts they found some loose bolts on the steering column which I had a feeling that might be the case but forgot to mention that issue. My minivan was fixed and ready in a shorter amount of time then was anticipated. I will definitely go back to this shop for any repairs I need. read more

Well, they're much cheaper than Land Rover. Spoke with a nice gentleman to get a quote for diagnostic services, but ended up going to the State for a free diagnostic test instead, since it was emission-related. I will say that he was extremely pleasant and did not pressure me. I will keep Thompson in my phone for future reference. I'm going to get the Haynes manual for my car. Repairs are very expensive, and so are diagnostic tests. A cheap OBD-II will tell you what's wrong, but not how to fix it. Or give you much information. In my case, it was the gas cap. Smh. Extremely disappointed. I spent almost $1,000 to get my truck functionally working -wouldn't start. I drove the 3 +miles from their shop to home after they supposedly fixed it- hasn't started since. Nice repair warranty! What's as sad is that a prudent business owner usually would read company reviews and respond to the customers -in some cases -whether good or bad - with specifics on that customers repair needs. I do with my customers-their satisfaction is my utmost importance or I would be out of business. I made the appointment a few days in advance. I show up on time. I tell the clerk I will wait for it to be serviced. I said I was told it would be about 90 mins. I notice my vehicle parked in front (not being serviced) after sitting for 65 minutes. At 90 mins I approached the guy at the counter to ask if the vehicle is finished since it has been sitting out from for 30 mins. He says "0h, I didn't know you were waiting. We can bring it in now after 90 minutes of sitting. If I wanted the appointment to start 90 minutes later, I would have scheduled it start 90 minutes later. Not have you waste an 1&1/2 hrs of my time. I will never return. Also...oil change was $73. Expensive! read more

Shame on you, Thompson. When I walked in, I must have had a target painted on my forehead. The oil change was fine, but then you came out and I said I needed both front wheelbearings replaced. That you had confirmed it by listening with a stethoscope and gave me an outrageously high estimate. Well, I called around and your estimate was even higher than the dealership. So then I went back to my old mechanic (the only reason I came to you was because I had moved and was looking for someone closer). I had my old mechanic do an assessment and guess what, I don't need one wheelbearing replaced, let alone both of them. Shame on you. read more

I recently dropped off my 2019 Dodge Charger at Thompson Automotive because the steering began feeling stiff and rigid rather than smooth and effortless. Having some automotive knowledge, I figured this was due to the vehicle's power steering system. I didn't know exactly what type of power steering my vehicle had, as there are a few different options, but I knew that my experience driving the car had worsened. After dropping my vehicle off at Thompson Automotive and having it reviewed by one of their mechanics, I was notified that my vehicle didn't have power steering whatsoever, and thus, there was nothing to be fixed. Even the mechanic who inspected my vehicle reassured me as such, saying there would be nothing to do except add power steering to my vehicle. I insisted the steering was smooth until recently, but the mechanic shrugged off my concerns. Unconvinced, I called a friend who is a mechanic and runs servicing for a Dodge dealership. He reassured me that my vehicle does have power steering and informed me of different reasons why my power steering would be failing. With this in mind, I took my vehicle to a local Dodge dealership for another inspection. They notified me that my power steering rack was leaking fluid and that I would need a new rack and pinion. This was expensive but necessary, and upon receiving my vehicle with a replaced rack and pinion, my steering was back to normal. I'm disappointed in the lack of care and service from Thompson Automotive. I drive my car all the time, and my experience should guide the inspection process when diagnosing an issue. When I say that the steering used to be smooth and is now stiff, the mechanic should seek to understand why such a thing is occurring. How would it be that my car doesn't have power steering if I tell you it used to steer smoothly? Instead, my concerns were shrugged off. As a result, I cannot recommend Thompson Automotive to anyone seeking automotive repairs because of their lack of consideration and thoroughness when looking over my vehicle. At least they didn't charge for the time they spent misdiagnosing my vehicle. read more

I thought my compressor went out in my AC and my car was leaking oil so I took my car to have it fixed. They looked it over and discovered that the problems were much less extreme than I thought (and other shops told me). They were very honest and saved me so much money. Additionally, my service advisor, Christy, was very professional and explained things in a way I could understand. I will only be bringing my car to Thompson Automotive from now on. read more

The owner charged me for gas 3 weeks after I returned a loner car (with it filled with gas) and did not send a receipt or let me know. They also did not want to give me my money back but just give me credit to use on a future service. I think it is really weird that they are charging people randomly and not letting them know. I had a thumping sound coming from my left front tire, so I took the car to Thompsons Automotive at 8 am to have it checked out and repaired. they said they would call me after they checked it out. Finally at 5 pm I called them and they said it was ready. I had to wait about 30 minutes for them to finish the paperwork. they gave me a list of about a dozen thangs that needed to be fixed - ie - the whole suspension system, new tires, alignment engine oil cooler, transaxle oil pan cover, differential input seal, differential service, bla bla bla. total cost over $8000. Charged me $99.75 to tell me this and the clunking sound is still there! I'm headed to Discount Tires where I should have gone in the first place! Once burned NEVER AGAIN! read more

I went in for a routine oil change. I asked them to check my AC because on a long trip it started cutting out. They said the Freon needed to be drained & replaced. AC is working better than it has in a long time. The tech people are so knowledgeable and efficient plus being very nice. If you get repairs done be careful and get a second mechanic opinion because they will add in other problems on your car that aren't necessary. Fix something and then something related to what they fixed goes wrong that they should have fixed when in there. I got another mechanic opinion. Also their prices are high. read more

Hadn't done any work on my car in 2 years, even after I rear ended a pick up truck, other than a new radiator. My CEL was on for months, but I didnt do anything until I failed my emissions test. Turns put I needed a new sensor. I took my car in, they cleared a few other codes, then returned a few days later and they not only installed abnew sensory, but took my civic to the emissions place to ensure it passed. To top it off, Jaume drove me home after I dropped the car off! I know I'll need more work in the near future, and I will definitely choose these guys and gals! Super friendly and accommodating. Here's the scenario. We are driving across country and started having trouble starting the car. We wouldn't arrive in Denver until 5PM. On the road, we called around Denver auto repair places and couldn't find anyone who would look at the problem the next day. Finally got a recommendation from Urban Automotive that I should call Thompson's. He said they were special -- and they were. First, the delightful person who answered the phone said they would take a look at the problem at 5PM as soon as we could arrive in Denver. They ultimately stayed a half-hour past closing to solve the problem for us and get us on our way. That is amazing customer service. While there, we noticed that the mechanic was spending a lot of time with each of his customers discussing their cars and in one case recommending against fixing something that would have made him a lot of money. Furthermore, we noticed that they were addressing their customers by name. At one point, they got a phone call from someone who was taking the light rail to pick up his car but got off on the wrong station. The staff at Thompson's sent a car to pick him up! I couldn't be more impressed with this place. I only wish I lived in Denver so I could use them on a regular basis. read more

The first time I went to Thompson automotive it was a good experience hence why I decided to go back. I bought my vehicle in February. Granted it is a 2006 and has over 200,000 miles on it. I took it there the day I bought it to get an oil change because it needed done. And the staff was very helpful and friendly. I went back today to get another oil change. Waited about 40 minutes and then I was told that my oil drain plug is stripped. I told them they are the last ones that had touched my vehicle to do the oil change and they told me they are not responsible because these things happen especially with vehicles that have over 200,000 miles on them, I used to be a service advisor and I know things do get old and wear out but a drain plug being stripped is due to over-tightening. I was told mine is just spinning right now. Then I was told that it would be about $600 for a new oil pan and labor. I should've been informed the last time I was there about the drain plug and the guy I spoke to told me he's not sure why I wasn't informed last time about it being old looking or like it needs replaced. Personally I feel they are responsible for fixing it. How it is my fault the tech over tightened my drain plug. read more

My first experience with Thompson Automotive started out with my car needing some serious engine and suspension work. My timing chain was slipping and needing replacement and 2 of my shocks were blown. I had taken the car to the dealer initially to get a breakdown of the potential costs and received an estimate for a ridiculous amount as well as a list of other things wrong with the car. In desperation, I spoke with a buddy in the tuner world who suggested trying Thompson Automotive. I call Jaime and she said they would be able to get me in immediately. After leaving the car with them they were able to provide an estimate for the repairs that was substantially less than the dealer and confirm that the dealer was padding the estimate with false problems. Bob know his cars and was able to give me a complete breakdown of what needed to be done. I agreed to have the work done and dropped of the car. I was able to utilize one of the loaner cars due to the work taking a couple days. Everything was completed to satisfaction and I now have a new automotive repair home. My battery light was coming on but not losing power, auto parts store checked my battery and alternator and said both were fine. Car was also rough idling. Took it to Thompson to see if they could find the problem...they said my battery, starter and alternator were all fine. Noticed I needed new spark plugs and found my power steering pump was leaking and needed replaced so that was all great and they were prompt about fixing those items. They proceeded to go through every wire and electrical connection in my car to diagnose the battery light...when they couldn't find it they decided not to charge me for the three hours spent, and sent me away indicating maybe it was something in the dash (although not sure why that wasn't also checked?). I'm grateful for the break in diagnostic cost and their attention to the other items. However, when I took it to the Honda dealer a few days later, they load tested it and found immediately it WAS in fact the alternator, and they found my drive belt was cracked as well. I understand things can get missed but seems an alternator shouldn't be one of those things? I was also surprised to find the dealer had a lower diagnostic fee...Thompson charged a separate diagnostic fee for the idle and the charging system. I give 4 out of 5 only because of these two items. The staff themselves were very friendly, prompt, and seemed to care about the service provided to their customer. read more

The repair would not be a cheap one, but Thompson Auto came in with a great price compared to other shops. I got a call later in the day that they were able to get the problem resolved by cleaning off the battery connections. They also noticed other repairs that should get done in the future that I can now begin to budget for. Most shops would have gone ahead and replaced the starter since I was prepared to pay. My experience with Thompson's was as good as an interaction with an auto repair shop could be. I have a Nissan Quest minivan and had an expected large ($1000+) repair I needed done. Although the estimate was about $1100, the actual cost for the repair came in significantly less and I was able to use that saved money to have several other repairs performed that were really needed and that I had been putting off. Jaime (Thompson) laid out all of the repairs they recommended and the cost for each and let me choose which ones I wanted to do. There was no pressure to get any of them done, only that the shop felt that one was more important than another. After I authorized the repair work, they found another problem when they got in there and additional repairs were warranted. Jaime was seemingly hesitant to tell me about this, as if she really felt bad about it. I really did feel that she regretted giving me the bad news. She even said they wouldn't charge me for the additional labor to install the needed part, only the cost of the part would be charged! When was the last time THAT happened at a repair shop? I have some mechanical knowledge and had done some investigation on the problem with the vehicle and I was patiently listened to and my comments appeared on the final invoice along with a detailed explanation of everything the technician/mechanic did to diagnose AND repair the problem. AGAIN, I have never received such a detailed report of the process from beginning to end. Going to pick up my vehicle after the repairs were complete presented me with another pleasant surprise. The office portion of the shop was very well-appointed, clean and cozy. You'd never have known it was the office of an auto repair facility. I will go back to Thompson's for all of my auto repair needs and will definitely refer friends, family and coworkers to them! A completely first class business in all respects. read more
