Clean, served fast. Cashier did not make eye contact or act particularly friendly, but was good enough. Some people seemed confused to receive an empty cup when they ordered coffee, but coffee is served in pitchers by the soda machines. Walking by the mass of buildings between the Holiday Inn, State Department, FEMA, and the outer Congressional buildings, a peculiar smell permeates the surrounding blocks. Not an aroma, but a smell. Charred grease, I think... Oh, I must be near McDonald's... Then one sees the mass of people in an unkept locale, with the unclean tables, slow service, full trash bins, panhandling homeless outside, and ill tempers. Oh... I AM at the L'Enfant McDonald's... I enjoyed their order at the machine kiosk. Simply put your order in, grab a number placard, and put the placard number with the order and wait for the food to come to you. I would like to say that it is much faster to order like this, but it took 20+ minutes for our food to come. (Just 2 McChickens and small fries). Never opens on time. Supposed to open at 5 am. I sit outside until 10 minutes after 5 then drive off. I normally start work before they open but when I don't and have 30 minutes to spare I'd like to be able to get some breakfast. Not a very good McDonalds, but with the masses that invade, it does what it can. Stop by during lunch in the summer, and you will be greeted with masses of families, government and contractor employees, and homeless types. It's good if you are nearby and in a rush, but if I have the choice, Methinks not. The food was decent at the mcdonalds. But the workers and the service sucked. The workers all have bad attitudes and were not able to get an simple order correct. And then blamed me for me not checking my order to make sure everything was correct when I asked them about my missing items. The cleanliness of the restaurant was not up to par either. I ordered a McChicken to go today with no mayo during lunch. The service wasn't exceptional but it wasn't bad either. When I took the McChicken back to the office to eat, I noticed that the sandwich wasn't even wrapped properly. The sandwich looked like it was falling out of the wrapper. McDonald's, that is just lazy. The sandwich was good. I would go back. I hope they are more attentive to the little details. read more

Visited this location 3x over the course of 2 night Memorial Day weekend stay at the nearby Holiday Inn: Twice for breakfast, once for a late dinner. While the line was a bit long around 8:00 pm on the Sunday nite the staff moved quickly & had a separate roped off area for pick up which kept things organized. Oddly though a sign indicated they did not have ice nor ice cream, disappointing since I had really wanted a sundae. The young man working the register Sunday night was funny, joking about the requested senior coffees, & just overall a smiley guy. Food was hot & tasted as good as a $3. McD burger is expected to taste. We returned the next 2 mornings for breakfast. I did try to use the kiosk but for some reason it wasn't reading my credit card payment. A worker sweeping the floor attempted to help me but couldn't so she then went to get someone else in an attempt to help. They couldn't get it to work but I appreciated their effort & ordered at counter. Would have been annoying if a long line but there wasn't. They did have ice at breakfast time (husband is a soda drinker for all meals), staff at counter was pleasant, no issues with us requesting scrambled eggs on the breakfast sandwiches that normally have that round shaped gummy egg (yuck), & gave us numbers for our table so they could deliver our food to us. No problem getting a table anytime we went. I didn't use restrooms so can't comment on condition - husband did once & does not recall an issue the time. One big annoyance: pan handler wandering around & coming to tables requesting money. Out on the street is annoying enough but in an establishment that should not be; however, after the whole Starbucks fiasco I get why a manager is afraid to approach anyone regardless of the issue. Still doesn't make it right. In short: 5 stars for their nice staff & food being right on McD's standards but reduced for being out of ice cream & ice (Really??) & not having signs indicating no pan handling or loitering. read more

This place is ridiculous. I can't even get an oatmeal without it being loaded with maple syrup! It comes "pre-made" they said. I tried being healthy by ordering apple slices. They say "a slice of happiness" right on the package. How is a "slice of happiness" a healthy option when they removed the peel of the apple which has the most antioxidants in the apple. Breakfast is always hot and they never mess up my order which I cant say for literally any other McDonald's in the country. Since McDonalds came under new management, the service has been terrible. This McDonalds does not follow suit with the other McDonalds (All drinks are $.99 and here they are almost $2). I'll start by saying that I actually love McDonald's. But the evening manager at this location must be the biggest prick of any McDonald's worldwide. He nearly started a war with me because I asked for an extra sauce for my nuggets. Honestly this is the worst McDonald's I have ever been to. I started recently working in the area and figured this was decent cheap eat. Highly mistaken. After several different trips here at various time during the day. I have yet to walk out with my order being properly taken. I have been charged for extra food, missing contents of my order, or denied a requested to get something taken off a sandwich (no onions please). So instead of making a scene, I contacted the customer service and was given the Corporate, "We apologies for your experience and will strive to serve you better." speech. Holy cow, is it just my dumb luck or is this DC the standard? I've now been to multiple restaurants where I've seen employees use the restroom and then leave without washing their hands. This time I even said, "Aren't you going to wash?" When I reported this to the manager he quickly acted on it but as we were leaving I was mean mugged by the employee as he washed in the slop sink in the kitchen. What the heck?!?!?! I also have to agree with others on here. McDonalds is traditionally known for their cleanliness, speed and friendly staff. While some of the staff at this location are nice, I've never received speedy service or seen it clean. I've seen them cleaning but only the glass on the doors and the countertop at the register. I can say this with plenty of experience too. We spent 5 weeks living in the Holiday Inn just down the street this past summer. When we had double digit days worth of 100+ this place was our saving grace. We'd be out for a walk and stop in for a sweet tea and ice cream to help cool off before returning to our room. It was never clean and always had at least two bums in or on the immediate premise. There goes your No Solicitation policy. We won't be back to this location and I will be contacting corporate. My recent visit to this McDonalds was a truly awful experience and it makes me never want to buy from this McDonalds again. I had a coupon for a complimentary Egg White McMuffin which is set to expire on 6/30. It says so right under the picture, plain as day. I usually just eat a bowl of cereal for breakfast, but planned a special trip to this McDonalds instead because of the expiring coupon. However, the cashier decided that she would rather argue with me than take my order. She told me the coupon already expired. I told her I still had a couple more says to use it. She wouldn't budge. So, I grabbed the coupon and left. A promotion is designed to get a customer into a store so they can try new products and buy other items. I was going to buy a coffee and hash browns as well. For coffee, I am somewhat of a regular here. I drink their coffee everyday, now that I work for the Federal government. I do enjoy the staff... but with that said I do regularly watch them abuse customers and be very rude. I find it charming, but I also think that the best thing to do with a place like this is to just treat it like theater. They will not be able to understand your order. It will be your fault and not theirs. Just go with it and give them attitude back and continue to enjoy your day. This McDonald's rarely has its iced items available, I have walked in multiple times looking for frozen lemonade or ice cream cones. Some machine is always out of order... I work near this McD's and I work odd hours, so every now and then I duck in for a quick meal. Usually, it's after I've forgotten how bad my previous experience was. They manage to remind me, though, every single time, why I don't go more often. There is always something missing from my order. The service is always chaotic. And I know that while I'm going to get something to eat, if I'm patient enough, I'm also going to be upset and sorry I went there by the time I open my dinner. read more

A Health Inspector's Dream! This place never smells like what it cooks! It smells really bad, like a mix of dirty mop, bleach, and rancid meat. The breakfast sandwiches don't taste like any I've ever had at other McDonald's establishment so it makes me question the cleanliness of the restaurant. The service is fast and the employees are pleasant. The only time you might have an issue is if you try to redeem something from a promotion, then the staff may go off on you, speaking in Spanish about you and telling you to give them x amount of change in order to redeem something labeled as free. The manager will be your best friend in this case. You might have to hold your nose to really have a pleasant experience. I wouldn't recommend sitting and eating, so you should be prepared to order your meal to go. read more

We are staying at the nearby Holiday Inn and have been to this McDonald's twice...once for an ice cream treat and the other for a quick meal. Both times the staff was courteous, cheerful and helpful. This McDonald looks like it has gone through a refresh fairly recently. Not on the same level as a new McCafe style, but it fits in the DC style well. This McDonalds was fairly busy when we walked in but not overwhelmingly so. Three of the six kiosks were in use but both counter lines were open. There was plenty of seating for parties of one to four persons. The beverage area had an attendant trying to constantly wipe the counters and mop the floors, trash bins were not overflowing, and bathrooms were decent. Tables needed to be wiped down to remove dried condiment residue and food particles. Interior temperature was warmer than most eateries but comfortable. After initially attempting to use the kiosks, my wife and I reverted to counter service because our food options were not available via the kiosk. My counter service attendant needed to learn how the properly enunciate. It took me a few moments and help from my wife to understand what the gentleman had stated. The gentleman became short and rude because I did not understand what he was saying. Iwaited approximately 9 minutes for my meal but apparently they skipped my wife's order. After two of my children consumed their meals, I went to the counter to inquire about my wife's order. They said it was about ready and after waiting about 5 more minutes, the rest of the family was able to eat. During our stay, they ran out of Diet Coke and the manager did not know if they could fix the problem. She simply told us to just get something else.
