Roasted Turkey & Avocado BLT - This was not too bad. I thought there could have been more filing present. I liked the combination of bacon and the avocado. They worked well with one another along with the rest of the ingredients. Napa Almond Chicken Salad Sandwich - This was okay. It was a little dry as I preferred a little more mayo present. I did enjoy the crunch from the almond pieces. Mediterranean Veggie Sandwich - This contained sweet peppers, feta, cucumbers, emerald greens, tomatoes, and red onions on tomato basil bread. Again, another average sandwich. The sweet peppers were actually my favorite part of this as the sweetness was very apparent, but not too over powerful. Again, I would have liked to see the sandwich packed more, but regardless, decent. Caesar Salad with Chicken - This was a standard salad. There were plenty pieces of chicken and all ingredients appeared fresh. The dressing seemed a little off. I would have liked it to be creamier. This was my first time ever visiting a Panera Bread, and honestly, it left a bad taste before I even got my food. When I walked in, no one greeted me -- and the place was empty. That already felt off. What really rubbed me the wrong way was when someone else walked in right behind me and suddenly the staff decided to greet them. That made the vibe feel weird and unwelcoming. The manager, Chester, was sitting nearby the whole time, clearly saw what happened, and said absolutely nothing. No acknowledgment, no correction -- just sitting there like it didn't matter. I asked the person behind the register for help with the kiosk because I wanted to change the cheese on my order. I let her know it was my first time there, and instead of being helpful, she looked confused and gave off a vibe like she didn't really want to help. That kind of customer service just doesn't make you want to come back. Bottom line: I wouldn't recommend this location. This is one of the few downtown DC locations. The one on 18th and H St NW seems to be indefinitely closed because of COVID. I typically order a coffee and some kind of pastry or entree. The staff are always attentive, friendly, and have my mobile order ready in the pickup spots and acknowledge me when I enter and before I leave. My coffee made prepared just as I requested and was ready as soon as I arrived. The interior is small and does not accommodate too many dine-in customers, and they have a single table for outdoor seating. I love that this is not a busy location! read more

I'm a regular here. This is right near my office and great for grabbing fast and easy lunch. Mobile orders are prepared quick. The only reason this place doesn't get a 5 star is because the inside is small with very little seating. It's almost like you have to take your food to go. Also they use kiosks for ordering and once I was instructed to use it instead of being able to order at the register with a person. Delicious and convenient dining option We ate here twice while on vacation and staying at the Hyatt House. It was a convenient 3-minute walk across the parking lot from our hotel. The cashier was really helpful, friendly, and patient about explaining the different sandwich options. We also had the chicken tortellini both times. The bakery dessert items including the pumpkin muffin and the frosted brownie were very good. The only reason I give four stars is that the second time we visited there was a guy in back preparing the food who completely forgot someone's order that had been placed in advance and then he said they didn't even have one of the items the customer ordered. We waited for quite a while for our order (not placed ahead) and realized that he forgot to provide one of our loafs of bread and did not provide butter as requested. During my recent trip to DC I was lucky enough to pass by this Panera to get my free Birthday reward before it expired. This location is small, not good for large groups, perfect for studying or relaxing for a bit. Upon entering the employee, a young woman, at the register just stood around while I waited to be helped. I asked for help, ordered a piece of crumb coffee cake, and took it to go. Sadly, when I opened the bag to eat it, the cake was dry and hard. I had to throw it away. Was surprised when I walked up and this location was to go/pick-up only. This should be noted on their page so patrons can plan ahead.

I originally was going to buy food at another place but was unable to because they didn't have change. I then stumbled upon this Panera bread and see an worker cleaning up and I hesitatingly ask if I can still order(because it was completely empty and clearly closed), instead of just chewing me away he asked what I wanted and checked to see if they had it. The assistant manager on duty then came and served me with no problem at all(even baring my so called jokes) and I had the best chipotle chicken sandwich ever! Boy do I love Panera. Cheap breakfast and happy girl. Call me a sugar fiend but my go-to is the cinnamon sugar bagel with plain cream cheese... sometimes I even get two! Friendly staff and easy to order ahead, food is always ready. If you order online make sure to specify that your bagel should be sliced. This is for the Panera on L Street. Food is great (but pricey) and there's lots of healthy, tasty options. But for some reason they cannot get the Baja Mac & Cheese right. After having to fast all night for an MRI next door at Medstar I was starving looking for food in the area. Being that it was late in the day, all the lil cafes surrounding the medstar complex were closed so I thought I was short but luckily Panera was open. I reluctantly went in because I'm not a big Panera fan, but I am glad I grabbed food from here! The service was very friendly, I was helped by Jhadzia and she was awesome, very patient and helpful. I had the turkey chili and it had so many random legumes in it and that's right up my alley. Really fresh and flavorful. it came with chips and an apple too! The interior was very clean and not busy at all. The location is really close to GWU. So yea, microwaved cheese sandwiches are NOT the same a grilled cheese...come one guys ‍ you had one job, just grill the sandwich! One bite in and I'm literally having to pull the sandwich unreasonably far because it can't hold it together and definitely had no crunch(due to being microwaved-gross) 7-8$ for a microwaved sandwich and bag of chips...that's not worth it. This Panera Express (smaller than other Paneras you may be use to) is one of my go-to lunch spots. Here's why: - It's within walking distance. - You have choices - you can order in store (iPad stations or at the counter) and eat there or take out. - If you eat there, there is limited seating (a couple of long tables against the wall with chairs). - You can order online (and they offer rewards like free drinks, free dessert, and deals on delivery orders if you are a Panera Rewards member). - They have the pick 2 special on their menu, where you can order 1/2 portions of 2 dishes including salads, soups, and sandwiches. - It's affordable. You usually won't spend more than $15 on lunch, which is hard to do in the city. Given all of these perks, I still gave this location three out of five stars because the food at this location is not consistent. What I mean by that is, most times I order my food (to-go), it is sloppily put together. I often have to check my bag before I leave to ensure everything is correct, particularly if I customize my order. This is one of the express Panera Bread locations. If they have chairs and tables, it's literally probably 2. This location is more if you want to order online and pick up or walk in and order and take your food with you. They have a bookshelf (basically looks like a bookshelf) with orders that are ready in their signature brown bags with the receipt on the side with your name on it. I've never had an issue picking up here. What I will say is, no one is checking to see if you got the right bag (or ever even placed an order). read more

I did get the group deal which has four half sandwiches, soup and salad with a bonus baguette. However tuna was not an option and if I had to do over would have ordered Greek over Caesar salad. The Caesar salad was mild and adequate but nothing special. The broccoli cheddar soup was tasty and a no brainer. I had to order a whole tuna sandwich separately from the group deal. The first two times, the service was fine--on time, efficient. They failed to follow the instructions about getting to the correct office, but whatever. This past time, Sept. 11, 2019--the store called 20 minutes before the designated pick up time to tell me they were running late. How late, I asked, 15 minutes? Oh, about that, they said, reluctantly. I was getting "oh boy, they are going to be really late" vibes. That was the last time I heard from them. Well, 40 minutes AFTER the designated time, the guy shows up with the food. But no beverages. The delivery guy literally walks back to the store and picks up the ice tea--we wait another 20 minutes for that. 30 hungry people--and one aggravated person (me)--wait patiently. I've been to this location (2001 L ST NW) on several occasions since it opened in late Spring 2015. This place cannot handle the order volume during rush hour. Pros: no waiting to place your order - just use a touch screen. You see where "you are in line" on the electronic board. Cons: it took exactly 25 minutes to get my salad since the moment I swiped my credit card (no exaggeration). Just because you #15 in line it does not mean there are 14 more customers in front of you. Absolutely awful. Caveat: this is for their coffee. I have no idea what was going on with their coffee, but I came in for lunch and ordered a medium hazelnut coffee. I came in around noon, and the coffee was labeled "brewed fresh at 11:30 AM." First sip and I noticed something was off: the coffee was incredibly sour and acidic. I like my coffee black, but I had to try to dilute it with milk. That didn't work, and I could only get through 1/8 of my coffee before I couldn't stand it. 20 minutes later, I proceed to feel terribly ill and nauseous, and felt like that the entire day. Their coffee was definitely not fresh, and perhaps even moldy. I did have half of a sandwich, but my experience with the coffee was so terrible that I am never setting foot there again. I have already told my co-workers not to go there, especially for the coffee--you will get sick! read more

I am surprised to read all of the negative reviews of this Panera To Go. I have been twice in the last two weeks and I've had a very different experience from the other reviewers. On both occasions I ordered at the ipads and I actually really like that because I can easily customize my 'you pick two' and see all the bread choices, etc, without taking up too much time at the register. The first time my order was perfect. The second time they forgot a little bakery treat I ordered so I told the girl and she got it for me. Sure, not perfect, but the first time it was! I see quite a few negative reviews on this place but I've never had any issues. This actually may be my favorite Panera that I've been to simply because of the touch screen ordering. I've never had to wait to order as there is always a screen available (I usually go around 1 PM). I always order the Pick 2 with Broccoli Cheddar Soup and a sandwich, the type of sandwich depends on what I'm in the mood for. In the notes section, I ask for a cup of water. Every single time my order has been given to me correctly and with a smile. The last time I went, the manager was walking around giving samples of the blueberry scone so that was a nice touch. I attempted another shot here because I was craving a bagel and thought "if I just buy a whole bagel and toast it at my office and cut it myself, how could they mess that up?" Well not only did I request a bagel not cut and not toasted with two pads of butter, but I was able to make sure those instructions were inputted because I put them in there myself using the iPad. So naturally I received a bagel cut and toasted.
