Okay okay, I know, it's McDonald's. But this used to be the best McDonald's. Friendliest staff, quick drive-through, all the things you want when grabbing a quick burger. Lately though, their customer service has been terrible. The other night a friend and I went through the drive-through and asked for two separate orders (we have done this many times). The guy who took our order said that was fine. When we got the window, it was a different guy, who got visibly upset and began to yell at the other employee right in front of us. I was visiting my local mcdonalds to get a casual dessert and some fries when we saw the manager not wearing her mask properly. She was taking orders and making food with it not fully on. When we confronted her, she said she had a "problem" aka "trouble breathing with a mask on" and if so, she could have gone outside and took a break.SIMPLE. She broke the CDC guidelines and that's astronomically unacceptable, I know its hard but it's not hard to just try. Setting aside the type of food served here- I wish to comment soley on the restaurant it's self. You can decide on the nutitrional merit of the goods sold here on your own. The guy ahead of us in line asked for regular coffee, but they were out. They ended up mixing his regualr with decaf. They took our order and got it mildly wrong at first- but straightened it out. The kid only gave us one cup instead of two, when we mentioned it he stated that he knew, they were restocking them. Sigh... this is not going well. My BF wanted sweet tea, he drained the small amount left and asked them to top it off from the to-go area while telling them that they were out. They said they would brew some more. We get our food (who nother yelp, lol) eat and are getting ready to leave, my BF goes to get some more sweet tea, and it;s still empty. They had not brewed any more of that or the regular coffee as we kept hearing the manager call out for people to do so. The whole place was just backed up and sinking. They kept telling people they were out of stuff like fries, so they went across the street. Wish we would have gone with them. read more

On two visits actually walked in on young homeless women bathing in the bathroom sink. I know they are right next to one of morro bay's best hidden secrets....yes the homeless camp under the bridge area across street that the police ignore. Pros: jazz music, nice remodel, cleanliness Cons: inconsistent food quality, hit-or-miss order accuracy They are trying, but the food quality and service still need work. Sometimes burgers are not hot, bread stale, fries undercooked or funny tasting, and they seem to be watering down the Diet Coke in the last few months (it used to be excellent, now it tastes flat.) UPDATE: I submitted the problem with the Diet Coke on the McDonald's website feedback form, and they contacted the store manager, who dealt with the issue personally. Soda tastes great again! Awful. The hours are inconsistent, the app will collect your money whether they are actually open or not. The food I got tonight was literally room temperature, the fries had solidified from being cold so long, so I dropped my order straight in the trash. I'm not getting food poisoning from this minimum wage corporation. I think the worst is when their chipper marketing email showed up in my inbox telling me I probably loved their food, and my inability to even leave them feedback because for the 2 emails I get when I order with the app, neither of them has the store #, which is required to leave the feedback in the first place. I once figured out a way to find the store number when they left out half my order, but the restaurant never actually got back to me. I figure I've given them at least $30 in donations because I don't get the food that is supposed to be in the bag. Why would you care as an employee when they don't pay you to care? This location is by the highway, their drive through is often packed, so they have no reason to change. But my advice is if you are a local, avoid this place. read more

Having looked on line to see if McD's served a veggie burger, we were looking forward to one with a chickpea patty. Alas, it's apparently only for SOME McD's god knows where. For there not to be one in Morro Bay, which is a very popular Callfornia coastal town, that has tourists from all over the world, young and old, and many vegetarian locals, (who probably wouldn't be caught dead in McDs, but that's another story ) NOT to serve food for a vegetarian in this day and age is appalling. I am highly disappointed since I get off work in Cambria at 1015 so when I get to Morro Bay at 1045pm I want a milkshake and fries. Their hours are posted as staying open til 11pm but the past couple times I have gone, and my friends say the same, they have the drive thru closed and the doors locked even though it's supposed to be open for 15-10 more minutes. I've worked in a restaurant so I know the frustration of a customer coming so close to closing but if your hours say open til 11pm you need to serve customers until 11pm. They have lost my business indefinitely because of this. read more

So ill make this quick, like the food we got. Hot and fresh both times here. But the poor kid that was working the register both visits(several weeks apart) screwed everything up. Having said that I just want to say if you are looking for a clean place to eat something quickly and expect it to taste decent, this is a good stop.
