Morro Bay McDonald's is our regular McDonald's. We love to stop by here and pick up a couple of the fried chicken sandwiches and a happy meal so we can give the little toys to our grandkids. We like that they're including apples in the happy meals now and the size of the french fries has been reduced in order to reduce the calories. The fries here are always warm and salty! My husband always saves the burger to enjoy as a snack later in the day. Even though it is a hamburger, it is a high protein snack. This McDonald's isn't too busy. You can always park in the front lot and the line for the drive-through is never too crowded like some that we go to. This will remain our hometown McDonald's! read more

OK, so even though I started going here again during COVID, I am sorry to say that I have no choice but to stop again. There are some staff that I absolutely LOVE, but unfortunately there are too many that shouldn't be working with the public. They will miss me, a regular, probably $200-$300 a month. Today was the last straw when the gal at the drivethrough gave me attitude when I asked her to wipe off the soda cups before she gave them to me. For some reason, there are several people recently (one is a guy) who act like I am asking them to perform some unreasonable task. C'mon, if your soda machine splashes soda all over the sides of the cups you should wipe them down before handing them to the customer. And, if the customer asks you to wipe them down you should do so without griping about it!! More often than not I have to ask for extra napkins to do the job right at the window so I can place the cups in my cup-holders without leaving Coke all over!! Another thing, recently McDonalds changed the type of lid they use and the straw doesn't easily poke through. I have spilled Coke all over my car because I can't get the straw through. I have to poke it with my finger to get the opening big enough so the straw will get through without bending. This is really a problem when they overfill the cup. And speaking of straws, these days for some reason they aren't cut cleanly and they end up cutting up my lips!! Ouch!! Recently they have gotten quite a few of my orders wrong. Simple things like a Dr. Pepper instead of a Coke. I had to park and go into the store for that one. And, no apology. I also got a fully loaded burger when I asked for it plain. There is a reason I ask for it plain, onions cause a number on my belly and I am allergic to mustard. Their French fries went bad several years ago when they switched the oils. Now, if I got them really fresh they were OK but more often than not they are not fresh enough and are horrible. Too bad because they used to have great fries. And, of course, the old standby - prices continuing to rise. I just can't afford it any more, not that I could all along but now I am refusing to pay their high prices when I can make better food at home for less. And I can have control over the ingredients. Well clearly Mc Donald's does NOT want customers inside. I came into the store and there was no one to greet, no one at the register. The drive thru was super busy and lots of employees working in that part of the place but they just looked at me and went back to work. Stopped by McDonald's to get some quick breakfast and there was nothing quick about it. First we did a mobile order and it took 25 mins to get our food. When the lady came up to our car, I noticed she didn't have our coffee. When I asked her about our coffee, she said "nope." Then she read our receipt and said medium coffee and went back inside. 5 mins later she came back out with more attitude and handed our coffee to us with a straw and said, "I don't know if you need this but here you go." Ordered using mobile curbside pickup The app doesn't let you add a bunch of sauces, so I walked in and asked. There's a plexiglass where you get your food but it's kind of useless since it isn't long enough to cover the whole counter so customers can literally reach through that area etc There are runners that bring out the food to the cars. Well I guess McDonalds doesn't want customers inside the restaurant anymore I took my son here yesterday after an appointment and there's no Menu to look at When I asked where the Menu was the girl working points at the Kiosk and says rudely it's on there Now I don't know if anyone else has this problem but it's nearly impossible to order from that Kiosk and even my really smart kid couldn't figure it out!! I have read that the board is covered in fecal matter hence my reason for NOT using the Kiosk on top of the fact that every Kiosk I have looked at looks like it hasn't been wiped down properly in days!! Just think about how many grimy fingers have touched that thing and not everyone washes their hands after using the toilet!!! I'm new to Los Osos Valley and most places I frequent are really friendly and accommodative. I worked a grave shift, was SUPER tired but I really wanted to grab some early breakfast and cup of coffee for me and my husband, who I was planning to bring to him before he got off his own grave shift. This was the closest to my work so I stopped at the drive thru around 6 AM. The lady taking my order was not necessarily rude at first but not nice. I ordered and went to the window. An older woman named Lisa was at the window. I had gotten a new phone and forgot to set up Apple Pay again (forgot my card). I told her, "I'm sorry, I need to finish setting this up. I don't want to hold up the line. Can I come in to the store and pay instead?" And I'm not exaggerating at all. I could tell from her body language I completely inconvenienced her and what proved it was she rolled her eyes and gave a big huff. "I guess you can do that and pay". Felt super uncomfortable. Ive worked 12 hrs, morning shifts, graves, before etc. you can definitely have a bad day, but don't make it someone else's. You'll get your average yummy food here. But for a nice experience? I ordered on the app. Got my order number. Went to the door because the app said I had to pick up at the counter. The dining room was "closed due to purple tier" according to a sign on the door. But we are t in the purple tier so I'm not sure why it was closed at 7:18 pm. Anyway, I went to the drive thru and they couldn't find my order. Told me to drive ahead and I showed receipt which proved that I had paid and that I chose the correct location. They told me sorry there was nothing they could do and that their manager said that it was just not their fault. Why not make the food and give it to me? I rarely go to McDonald's, but when I do, I'm glad it's this one. We occasionally visit other McDs in other countries just to check out the menu differences, but seldom visit one in the US. I finally decided to leave a review since I have been to this location a few times now over the years and they have been consistent. Granted, consistency is what you are supposed to get from fast food since that is kind of the point. The staff here is always moving and keeping busy which I have to respect. If they are just waiting for customers they are out and about cleaning or restocking things. The store itself is really nice, has a modern design aesthetic to it and lots of natural light. The drive through is a nice feature and easy to access and use. As for the food I would have to say I've never had a meal that was below my expectations for McDonald's. Usually the food here is particularly fresh for fast food, which sometimes means it takes a bit longer, but fresh is good. Nothing beats a fresh hash brown in the early morning! I would say that every time I have ordered food here it has been above what I expect from McDonald's so that is really a big plus for me. I tried the new Pico Guacamole burger and was pleasantly surprised, other than the generic burger meat the burger was actually really good and tasted like they had just made the guac and salsa. For breakfast they are consistent and super fresh, however the coffee isn't as good as it used to be for whatever reason. read more

Embarassingly we found ourselves at McDonald's several times for breakfast while in Morro Bay as well as twice for cones and McFlurries later in the evening. I tried to not actually use the Yelp check in feature every time we were there, just out of sheer shame. I don't really know what to say, except, it's fast, reliable, you know what you'll get and, oh yeah cheap. The place was clean, the staff listened to my requests for an egg sandwich minus the meat and the addition of their smoothies made me feel like I had some (pseudo) healthy options. I'm a sucker for their Blueberry Pomegranate smoothie and dammit I was on vacation!! All caution to the wind! Seriously though, it's McDonald's-what do you expect?
