MASKS NOT BEING WORN BY EMPLOYEES. On Monday, June 22, I visited McDonalds in La Mesa on Avocado Blvd (restaurant #5579) The drive through line was extremely long so I opted to run inside. First thing I noticed was a female employee walking around behind the counter with no mask on. She appeared to be a manager. I placed my order: small coke and fries. Second thing I noticed, after I placed my order, was a cook with his mask tucked down under his chin. I was shocked. Masks are mandatory during the Covid pandemic. The female employee (manager, I assume) placed a mask on. However , the entire time I waited, the male cook had his mask down while cooking, walking to and from different food stations. Service was extremely slow. Three customers inside made to wait a long period of time. I am an essential healthcare worker. I wear a mask 8hrs a day. I know it's hard to breathe but there are protocols in place for a reason. If you can't breathe, step out and take a break. Do not remove your mask and breathe all over the food. A person does not show symptoms for 2-14 days. Manager needs to set an example and enforce PPE and safety protocols at all times. read more

I ordered at 7:00pm at the drive thru. I waited till 7:30 to finally go in and ask for a full refund. When I went in the employees looked in shock as if they didn't see me outside the drive thru window the whole time. And then when it came down to the refund, the little girl couldn't even give me the whole amount back. That McDonald's is a joke. read more

Mean staff. They charged me for additional food I didn't order, so I told the staff the situation that I was over charged, & instead of simply apologizing for the inconvenience and making it right I got rude attitude and dirty looks as I was the one who made the mistake. It was such an uncomfortable situation. Simply rude and mean staff. And to make it worse they forgot to give me part of the actual order I did order. What a piss poor excuse for a McDonalds. I go in the drive they and order to crispy chicken with no pickle. One was a meal and extra crispy with NO pickle. 2 Happy Meals. The chicken sandwich has no sauce and is fry plus on the one that ordered with no pickle all they did was open the sandwich and take pickles off leaving the damn pickle in my chicken. I bite into it and if I had time would have taken it back but will be calling them out on it when I get home. read more

Very few people seem to like this McDonalds but we've always had luck here. It's a newly renovated site and looks really nice inside like a Starbucks. We come here about once every other month for an Oreo McFlurry which is always a big treat. Whenever we've been here it's been during a slow time so we haven't had to wait long. I wish I could take away stars. Worst Fast Food service I've ever seen. We ordered a breakfast platter. Sausage and a smoothie through Uber eats. Delivery said 20 mins. We had 3 different drivers assigned to the order because the food wasn't ready. It took over 40 mins to arrive and when it did, there was ONLY a smoothie inside. Went to McDonald's to physically get the food we paid for and the lady working the drive thru was RUDE. Didn't even try to fix the issue. She simply did not care. This place is terrible. read more

I struggled to give this place 1 Star. My family and I are located in a Rancho so it is a convenient location for us to travel to, by no means to buy from. I refuse to get any food items from there due to so many previous issues and poor, poor quality. This place needs serious training, supervisors are running around always, but why the slow drive - thru poor service, and I honestly see the turn over is crazy. I love the renovations and ambience ! The staff is nice and accommodating. I was there today and was greatly concerned when I saw a customer feeding her dog on the table! Another customer got upset and told the workers but an argument started between the dogs owner and the management! It was real nasty! I love animals but don't put them on the table to feed them! Oh my...what has happened to McDonalds; I hope they are not all like this one on Avocado. The young man behind the counter was pleasant...the contemporary surroundings were OK, BUT... I Ordered a sausage & egg on a bisque to go; My husband was driving... I unwrapped it, took a bite, or should I say, I TRIED to take a bite but the "biscuit" was as hard as a rock! I could not get my teeth thru it. Not good..should have returned it but we were on the road and it was not worth our time to go back. Not one to comment on these but man i come at around 1:30 pm to get one thing a vanilla shake lol im Talking to the lil microphone and no one talks to me but while i keep speaking 3 cars in the other lane pass so i go up to tell the lil african dude and he going to say something about "shift change and wait next time" which (1) has nothing to do with me pretty sure u finish a order before u switch and (2) if 3 cars go by I've waited long enough but i just say "ok i just want a shake i waited at the mic spoke and wasnt being told anything" he's gonna tell me "you can either go around or drive off i dont care"first time i actually had a bad experience at a fast food like this, very new. read more

If I could give a minus rating I would. I went through the drive-through and was asked to park on the side. Since my order was not ready. I wanted for over 10min before the lady came out to me. She told me it wasn't my order. I asked about my order and the lady was very rude. She went back inside and I waited another 5 min before going inside and asking about my order. The other lady said she gave my order to someone else's and she forgot about me. Witch was a bold face lie they just don't care. Once I finally got my food I went to my car and checked my food. Thank gosh I did. The food was slooped together and I had hair in one of my burgers. I do belive they messed around with my order. Everyone needs to check thier food before eating. To the ownership you need to get a handle on your team members working for you. Paying customer shouldn't be treated like trash. In the end I just threw out my food. read more

I understand this place was busy for lunch. (That's usually what happens at restaurants). However, we failed to receive straws, napkins, dipping sauce (even though we were asked) and they gave us extra fries instead of apples that we requested for the happy meal. As I was in the drive-thru a woman walked up to the window to hand them back drink that they filled wrong. By the reviews it seems I am not alone and that it's expected of this location to mess up orders. As a former manager of a restaurant chain (Panera Bread) I suggest you talk with your employees about checking orders. I live near this mcdonalds I honestly dont choose to come here because of my experiences. The first time i went there I ordered a mchicken but guess what.. when i get home to eat my food there was no chicken patty in my mchicken. My second time was just about a drink, the dude who took my order said everything back to me correct but when i got my drink it wasn't what i asked for. But today my boyfriend had gone and ordered for me & the guy taking his order said everything back right, but when he gets to the window and grabs his drink i told him to make sure that it was sweet tea & half lemonade, he asked the girl giving him the drink if it was half sweet tea & half lemonade she confidently said yes but i told him to try it and he said it just tasted like sweet tea. After him waiting 10 minutes she brought of his drink and he asked her if she could fix the drink. 15 minutes go by later and no one comes out with the right drink. He goes inside and she looks at him and says sorry then after another 5 minutes she finally gave it to him. Surprised it was even right! Then when he gets home i look at the food & guess what.. i ordered to mchickens but it had no mayonnaise & lettuce like it should have. Its honestly disappointing that a business thriving as well as any McDonald's does realistically let's all of this type of stuff slide. This is maybe the worse McDonald's I have ever been too. It is ran by a lot of kids that don't know anything. I ordered 3 drinks and they had me wait on the side for 35 mins. Almost every time I visit this location my car is parked. All they do is basically care about their drive-through time rather than being efficient with serving food. They have the park line interfering with starbucks parking. Their employees are careless of the customers time waiting for their food. I will definitely prefer to visit other locations. Yes, the ice cream machine is broken! The McCafe Frape machine is also broken! I thought I would add a quick trip for some coffee to Smart & Final grocery run. Unfortunately, the Frape machine "is ummm kinda like broken right now or something" so I reversed out of the driveway (there were no other cars) and took off. This is that McDonald's from every bad Intenet meme you have seen: the staff is unmotivated and orders often have missing fries or other food, the ice cream machine is was broken during all the heat waves over the summer and the drive thru line is slow. Health and time wise, you're better off skipping the arm pit of San Diego/East County McDonad's, buying some groceries and making yourself some food. We go to McDonald's a lot less, especially after all the bad experiences at this one, which is the closest to our home. If we actually want something from the menu as ordered, we have to go to Lemon Grove or Rancho San Diego. The structured drive through line is very short and the new dual line system is set pretty far back which backs up the merging line into both speakers (but gives other customers more time to not know what they want while looking at the menu from afar). We stopped here for breakfast on the way home from camping at Potrero http://www.potrerowar.org/. Unfortunately, we got caught in rain while breaking down the campsite and desperately wanted to change into dry gear before we ordered breakfast. So, just take my word that the men's restroom was gross. We ordered a few breakfast combos (bacon and sausage) but the guy behind the counter made a point to correct my description from Mcmuffin to biscuit...am I tripping or have they always been called Mcmuffins? So, he kinda looked at me like I ordered a plate of drugs. He patiently waited for me to acknowledge I did not want a bacon, egg and cheese in between a muffin but rather a biscuit before he rang up the order...so I agreed. LOL, I then watched my GF go through the same routine. It was real special! Whatever in the end the Mcbiscuits, hash browns and coffee were fresh and hot. They have a TV in there which was nice because we were outta the loop for a few days. However, the real show was the developing line of hungry "Mcbiscuit wanting" customers...I mean we just missed a total FUBAR. The line was at least 15 people deep. By the time we finished our breakfast and drank a healthy portion of a large coffee they completed helping two customers (by HELP I mean the ordering of items and paying was complete) I never saw these poor customers get any food...all those people looked pissed!!!!! So, my experience here was fine, a total 3 star situation but I'm certain this location has issues serving anything fast. All of the served food was cold and mostly tasteless. Hamburger buns tasted old and the burger patty was dry and over cooked. We have been to this McDonald's 3 times now and I don't know what's going on. The first time we went they were out of sodas. The second time we went the frys were unsalted. Loud, unprofessional employees. We couldn't even hear the poor guy doing the drive thru. The girl had some name that started with an L, and had unkept and scary hair for a food handler. She was involved in some work place games throwing something all over the back kitchen. They were hooting, yelling, and saying "stop there is a customer" as if that should make a difference. Mickey D's. Everyone has eaten it, few people actually enjoy it. This location is pretty average as far as service and appearances goes.. If you're looking for a drive-through fast food fix, I'd personally reccomend In-n-out or Taco Bell for slightly healthier value-priced options. I know that you can't expect much from a fast food place, especially when most employees are very young, but at least get my order, especially if I had to wait 15 minutes in the drive-thru line. Yes, that's correct. I made a simple 2 cheeseburger combo order. I was a little short on time because I had to be at work right after, but I thought it would be fine since I didn't think I'd have to wait so long in the drive-thru. Boy, was I wrong! I waited 15 minutes to get to the window after ordering, only to see the person at the window look at his screen and tell me that he didn't see my 2 cheeseburger order. I knew I was running late now, and I just told him that I had to go. All he said was, "Okay," and I took off. So disappointing, especially since I was craving fries. I wish I was just able to leave the line since I was pressed for time. I wouldn't leave the line if I didn't have a good reason, and I know they'd rather have us wait than for people to order and take off as a prank, but seriously, if I had waited literally one minute longer, I would've been late and I was already pissed off as it was being I didn't get any food. FYI, this happened on Friday night, June 14th, 2019, around 10:27pm. I know now that I didn't give enough time, but I also know now that this McD's at this time is the worst one to go to. This McDonald's is either a bunch of idiots or they're lazy!!! We've had multiple times where we make a special order and you get your food and it's not the way we ordered it. Of course we order in the drive-through but don't discover it until we get home. My husband made a simple order of four cheeseburgers with extra pickles and he gets home and there's two pickles on two of them and three pickles on the other two. And they all have little tags on them like they've been done correctly. These employees should be fired or the franchisee should be removed from the McDonald's Corporation!! read more
