This place and I go wayyy back. Decades of those chili dogs and corn dogs. I still crave them sometimes, knowing full well the damage it can inflict. Ok, it's not bad, just sorta bad for you. Can't be that harmful, right? They did a switch to chicken dogs many years ago. Is this a healthier option? Don't know. Parts is parts. That's what I've heard at least. Some photos are from many years ago and yes prices have increased. You can upgrade to a beef dog on most items. I seem to not really have an issue digesting this stuff, although I never eat more than one. Have a tendency to eat healthy in mornings then not so much later in the day, works fine for me so far. I come here on craving-based visits and just park out front and order at the mini-window. Here we get corn dogs, mini corn dogs, chili dogs, fries. Dipped cones and root beer floats too. Most recently the Chicago veggie dog. I don't know why, but the drive thru seems to take really long. Don't do it. Walk up to the window and order. Get 'er done. Much better this way I feel. I'll admit 4 stars is generous but they are quick and consistent. Somehow they are slightly above 3 stars no matter. One of their advertising campaigns a few years ago was the claim they were the "world's most wanted wiener" Oops. What? They abandoned that eventually of course.. Guilty. I've eaten here a few times since living fairly close by and what I'm about to say (type) may sound like blasphemy, but I go ahead and say/type it anyway. The food sucks. Sure they're trying out new menu items all of the time but the few versions of the hotdogs have been pretty crappy. I'll take Costco any day of the week and the only thing that does make me stop by here every so often is the ice cream. Found a hair in my chili fries. I returned it to them and I guess the cook got mad that they had to do their job and remake it so they just tossed a handful of cheese on top for the new one, and the cheese was not melted at all, not even a little bit. The first fries had completely melted cheese all over just the way it was supposed to, just obviously the hair was in it. I was very respectful about it and didn't even demand anything when I returned the original fries. Why even go to work if you hate your job so much. Especially since this cook clearly did something wrong and then made it worse by showing no care. I wouldn't be surprised if there was also spit somewhere in the new fries. Wienerschnitzel....used to be my go-to place for hot dogs and corn dogs! It still is, but not so convenient anymore. I love that they kept the original look with the drive-thru and small walk-up window. Chili dogs, mini corn dogs and fries! That is our typical order and you can't go wrong. They have a lot of ice cream dish choices and my son always rotates through the root beer float, shake, freez or a hot fudge sundae. You really can't mess up ice cream! I grew up on this stuff but I didn't have it all the time. They have a special every day on menu items like ice cream cones, root beer floats and sundaes. I wish I could come here more often but this isn't healthy food at all they don't even offer salads like most fast food places. One of my favorite fastfood joints. The food is always hot and fresh. No matter when I go the staff is very polite and helpful.

Just left Wienerschnitzel and I would almost swear everyone and their Momma is there right now. There were at least ten cars in their tiny drive through section. The girl came out to each car separately to get money and make it faster for us. Great Customer service! I sure didn't want to cook tonight. I got the special 5 Chili Dogs and 5 Corn Dogs for $9.99 One Kraut dog, a large french fry and 2 Dr. Peppers. I am pretty sure that I will regret it later as I always do. But I just love eating here. We came here for lunch after my tennis practice because they were offering hot dog and chili dogs for .56 cents to celebrate their 56 anniversary. To my surprise they were pretty good. The hot dogs were a nice size the buns were soft and warm and the chili was slightly spicy. I purchased eight hot dogs to share with my husband with some left over for the next day for under $5.00. This is the WORST location of them all. Avoid at all costs. First I go there and they say only drive thru is open which I don't understand because its basically the same thing. They had their window open to order. Then I drive up and they say they dont sell ice cream after a certain time. So when I ask why is it on the menu still and the manager walks up to my car and says they close the machine to clean it but tonight there's no more ice cream because they ran out and used too much this week so they have no more. The Devil Is Always In The Details Especially with fast food. Wenerschnitzel is a classic southern California chain. Forty years ago, I actually worked as the night manager for a local restaurant (not this one, although I was loaned out after the remodel in the late 70's to teach how to cook the new burger item menu). The chain has had it's ups and down, but the menu now is largely the same, but with Foster's soft serve items added. I've never had those. I go for the dogs, and I've been there scores of times over the last 10 years. It's not a regular thing; it's a "back to my youth" quick meal. Unfortunately, it's also hit and miss. A famous restaurateur once said that the key to fast food is uniformity. People go back over and over for the same experience. This place is never consistent from visit to visit. Will the fries be fresh? Who knows. Will the hot dog be heated through? Maybe. Will the chili be unctuous and beefy, or watery and tasteless? Will the corn dog be hot and fresh, or stale and dried out? (I actually watched them put an all beef dog in the fryer once because they didn't have any on the grill. Seriously? Where people can watch you prepare the food you're going to take that kind of a shortcut to ruin a dog just for the extra dollar?) A perfect chili dog is a thing of beauty. A terrible chili dog has runny chili dripping down the sides of the bun, with scalding hot chili and a lukewarm dog. A perfect kraut dog has drained kraut lying on top of a hot dog. A terrible one has a lump of soggy kraut, and even soggier bun dripping kraut juice. Perfectly steamed bread on a polish sandwich, or sticky wet rye slices that fall apart into globs. Prices are in line with other local fast food outlets, and the location is convenient to the neighborhood. Outdoor seating is available next to the drive through, which means the sound of others ordering and car exhaust are also on the menu. Staff is, well, as mixed as the food quality. Sometimes it's a friendly kid who seems to enjoy his work, but sometimes it's a burnt out bored man going through the motions. Even the packaging style varies; a loosely wrapped dog that's attractive when opened, or wrapped so tight the steamed bun has lost all structure. I'll go back, occasionally and with a coupon. But this is not a place to rely on for consistently good food. read more

One time I went and made a minor change in the drive through and the cashier thought it was the end of the world. She didn't even look me in the eye.
