This was by far the worst McDonald's experience I've ever had. I ordered the McTeri and when I opened my box, there was no bottom bun. My dad got a double quarter pounder, and when he opened the box, there was only one patty and one cheese. We took both back up to the counter and it took five minutes plus to get the replacements. Staff was very slow doing everything, I know this is on an island so they're on island time, but still we were the only people in the restaurant basically. By the time I got my replacement McTeri, which again was only missing the bottom bun, my friends were almost done eating their food. You could improve on everything! First your customer service does not exist, the staff minus two individuals I have encountered here is horrible, they either hate their job or lives either way they applied to a service based industry, but the tail follows the head so management can definitely do much better! Standard McDonalds inside only seating area and food; make sure to try the taro and the haupia pie since those are only in Hawaii Mcdonald's. 5/5 for clean restrooms. You need to ask for restroom code unless you're lucky to catch someone leaving. The workers are mainly working the drive-thru so they're not always at the registers, so when you order your food at the kiosks ask for your napkins/condiments bc this location doesn't have a designated station for it. read more

When in Hawaii, one must stop at McDonald's for their pies. No, they don't just have apple pies here, but they have haupia and taro pies! (Although, the taro pie seems to be always out, sad face). But the haupia pie alone makes the visit to McDonald's worth it! The pie is fried instead of baked like in the mainland. In addition, the filling even has pieces of coconut inside. After see a fellows yelpers review on MacDonalds. We aren't Mickey D people. We noticed that Mickey D's slightly different food items then back home. We had to try McTeri burger, quarter pounder bacon cheese meal. The McTeri burger was very sloppy juicy and very yummy the fries were hot! Must eat this burger away from your body or you'll be wearing the sauce!! For walk in orders there is only one set of door to go in and out. lol I don't know why I feel funny writing a review for McDonalds. Maybe because there's a plethora of good food in Hawaii, and I wound up at McDonalds? Well here goes. It's McDonald's. Not like I had high expectations, so I can't say we were truly disappointed. We just came here because a friend suggested we try at least 1 McDonalds in Hawaii to try their local stuff. I mean the Hong Kong McDonalds we went to had things like taro soft serve and rice with their happy meals. So why not? Unfortunately, we came after a long and fun day at Haleakala so by the time we got here, I think the local pies were sold out. Bummer because I was excited to try a haupia pie, but all they had was apple. The only local item on the menu was the spam/Portuguese sausage and egg platter. Went inside to try the breakfast here on Maui. There was a kiosk to order which I didn't like because that's taking a job away from someone. Second there was a man who obviously made a mistake ordering and told the manager he didn't order spicy he can't eat spicy. Her response was so rude and said well you ordered it. Then she said let me look, she looked and said oh you're the one who did that! She had an ugly attitude and then the other manager in the back I can hear cooking yelling at other staff. If you are looking for a more Hawaiian traditional McDonald's, this would be a better choice over the airport location. It serves saimin in a bowl, and caters to the Hawaiian local, with Portugese sausage, spam and rice. It also has that small time feel and even the local police dine there. I am hoping they bring back the Ube pies and other specialties, but understand that the economy and COVID issues requires them to focus on the basics for economical reasons. read more

Five stars for any McDonald's that serves hot fried apple pies (hands down my favorite McDonald's item of all time, although fries come a close second - I know, I know, you're sensing a theme)! Not a fan of Spam or Portuguese sausage (obviously, I'm in the minority here) so I didn't try the local breakfasts, but saw that the McRib is on the menu. Stopped here for a late night snack. While in Maui, I figured I'd try a few things exclusive to the Maui Menu. I ordered a Haupia Pie and was pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was. The crust was perfectly flaky and the filling had a great coconut flavor without being too sweet. The other items I ordered were pretty typical of a Mcdonalds (Mcchicken w/cheese and fries).
