Terrible communication. Horrible organization. Had a repair in July - they didn't fix the turn signal like I asked, so I had to go back a second time to get that fixed. In December, I took it in to get the Splash Shield installed. Paid over 200$ and didn't realize until after the fact that they repaired a different piece, not the piece I asked them to. So I had to back again January 5, and put a deposit down for the Engine Splash Sheild AGAIN. Two weeks go by. No calls from them. I had to call them myself every few days or else I wouldn't have heard anything from them. Finally I take my car in, pay for Ubers out of my pocket. Heard nothing from them all day. I call them back to learn that they didn't even start repairs because they said it was going to cost $300 more than what they originally quoted me because market prices have gone up -even though I put down my deposit TWO WEEKS prior. I told them to give me my keys. Complete waste of my time. Useless customer service read more

After being rear ended, my back hatch needed completely replaced. McCombe performed this work and within three months I was getting water leaking into the hatch that was replaced. McCombe seemed initially unwilling to fix their mistake but I had never had this issue prior to their fix. Their solution was to put tape on it and order a part. Meanwhile even with the tape, every time it rains I am getting water pooling into my door and electrical components and buttons to get my hatch open. I was told the part would be in on a certain day and no call. Left a voicemail twice and no returned call. Going on 3 weeks now. Really disappointed. read more

Joe in the service department at McCombes was very easy to work with , kept us updated on the repairs and worked with our insurance to repair and not total the vehicle. I had an exceptional experience at McCombe. How often are you PLEASED to Yelp about car services? This is one of those rare occasions. Background: Beginning of August, I hit someone because they randomly ran a stop sign on a street where I didn't have a stop. My front fender got torn up and my car is now has a horn-like plastic protrusion. I call it a unicarn. Fast forward through a few weeks of phone tag and I got the go-ahead from the other party's insurance company to get an estimate for the damage (yay!). McCombe was one of their preferred shops and in my neighborhod, so I went there. OH EM GEE. I have never had *fun* getting an estimate on my car before, but I did today. Chad worked on my estimate, and he was a blast. I won't bore you with all of the details, but here are the highlights: 1) He used to own the car I currently drive, so we had a chat about how awesome my car is (my car is both shitty and awesome at the same time. It's complicated). 2) He never talked down to me or assumed that I didn't know what he was talking about. When he did have to explain things, he had a relaxed but professional manner that was not at all condescending. He explained everything on my estimate thoroughly so that I would know where the numbers came from, even though I wasn't even the one who was going to pay for it. 3) He actually encouraged me to make the right decision for my situation instead of what would benefit his shop the best. He didn't try to talk me into anything I didn't need or want. I feel like I can totally trust him, which is not a feeling I get sometimes when people are working on my cars. 4) Even though he was appalled at the state of my tires (my tires are really bad, y'all), he didn't make me feel like a terrible person even while encouraging me to get my tires taken care of. He also 5) put air in one of my tires even though I told him I could do it myself with the air compressor I have in my car. He wouldn't even take no for an answer. Awesome service. While I was there, another lady was getting service done to *her* car. When her car was finished, the mechanic (I'm guessing he worked on her car) asked if she wanted to take a look to make sure she was satisfied before paying. How awesome is that?! As a result of all of this, I know I'll be going to McCombe anytime I have ANYTHING wrong with my cars that they can fix. read more

Unfortunately, a guy backed into my car with his in a crowded parking lot. Fortunately, the insurance company sent me to McCombe. I was actually given a few different options and when I looked on Yelp and saw my pal Susie R had such a fantastic experience, I knew this was the shop for me. My experience was just as excellent as hers! First of all, the folks that work there are beyond helpful. They really are! I hate dealing with car problems but they truly made it a breeze! Everyone was so friendly and I never had to wait long when I called in. They also worked with me in scheduling my rental car and they had such a smooth relationship with Enterprise that everything came together smoothly. I was so pleasantly surprised with the efficiency of getting my car worked on. Furthermore, they were so timely! My friend just had a similar experience with a different body shop and she was without her car for weeks! They were so up front with me about when they could realistically work on my car. I had to wait about a week and a half after the accident before I was able to bring it in but then it was only about 48 hours before I had my car back in my garage. It was so nice to have such a quick turn around. My car looked perfect when I got it back! I hope I don't need any future repairs but if I do, McCombe will be the only place I call. I had a really good experience with this shop. Although I didn't get my car fixed, but according to Joe, he advised me that the car isn't worth fixing. I agree with him although in a perfect situation, I would love to have the car fixed. But was so honest and transparent about everything. Usually when you to a body shop excepting to be ripped off. But that was not the case with joe. He said that although we here to make money, we are also not here to mislead people. I have the utmost respect for this man "joe" and his shop. Brought my car here as it was a recommended shop by my insurance. When I brought it in for the estimate they had me with them as they went over the damaged & explained each part to me as they pointed it out. Very helpful with answering all of my questions. Took about 2 weeks to get it done & that was the time frame they gave me in the beginning. When I picked it up it looked beautiful! Truly like nothing had ever happened. They even washed it & cleaned some of the inside. My only issue is I had to call them for a status update because they said they would call me at the end of the first week & didn't. I became rather distraught when I scraped the side of my car on a yellow pole in my work's parking garage. But McCombe Body Shop alleviated a lot of my worry and stress, which is exactly what you need when something like this happens. Obviously, what I did was a stupid accident that could happen to anyone, and they assured me everything would be OK. If I wanted a professional paint job on the scrape (which unfortunately was on both my door and my rear fender) it would be a hefty price. Knowing that this was solely cosmetic damage, I asked if there was anything they could do for a quick "fix up" and then down the road I could come and take care of it with a professional paint job. The folks here at McCombe were more than accommodating. They spruced up my scratch by buffing out the yellow paint from the pole and adding some white touch up paint to the parts where a bit of the steel was exposed. It definitely does not look brand new anymore but it is certainly a nice, quick fix up - for just $20!!!! The thing about this place is that, while I did not get extensive work done (yet at least), their attitude toward my situation and willingness to throw me a bone is something I am more than grateful for. The folks here were friendly and professional. I know that I will be coming back here if I want to get the job done completely (when I have the money for it). While I hope that none of you have to ever be in the position to go to a body shop, I will recommend McCombe Body Shop (located on Main Street in Columbus in Bexley) in case of that unfortunate instance you are in need of car repairs. I've seen so many mixed reviews on this place but took a chance because of them being backed by USAA. I brought the car in with a dent in the side and the front bumper slightly broke. The insurance paid just for the dent in the side but they fixed the bumper as well. Not only that they also cleaned the car inside and out. I was more than pleased with their service. I was very at ease bringing my car here for an estimate and getting repaired. I went to McCombe body shop to replace my drivers' side mirror. Not only were they very quick in giving me an estimate, but the estimate was very resasonble. They first searched for used parts so the repair would be cheaper, and to my luck, they found a mirror that was the same color as my car. I have used McCombe body shop multiple times. I had be really happy with their work until the past two times. I took my car in to get an estimate and they said it would be 1900$. We told them to go ahead and fix it and it ended up being 3500$ and my car was in there for at least three weeks. The past experience I was getting a mirror fixed and they fixed my mirror before. They told me it would be 215$. When we brought it in, we were then told it would be 285$. The person I spoke to on the phone told me he didn't have time to tell me he couldn't get it for that price. We told them we would just take it somewhere else. I then ordered a mirror for 50$ and called to see if they could paint it. I spoke to a lady on the phone and she said no. She then continued to say that her paperwork is already all messed up because we decided to take it somewhere else. I will never go back there as we had horrible customer service. read more

I had a very good experience with McCombe. My car got some scratch and dents in parking lot. Wishing to save some, I found this place on internet. Well, I tried other places with good reviews on internet, but turned out disappointing. But this time was just such a good surprise. The people at McCombe were very professional and friendly. They give me a quick "fix" on the scratch with only $33.4 (comparing I spent over $80 on two nitch at the Dent Doctor) and some other nitch for free. If you have a choice, if you have an alternative, if you can help it, by all means avoid this shop. They will cheat you, and you will never know you were cheated. I went there because of an issue I was having with one of my windows, which was stuck for some reason. Everyone I met when I was there was quite nice and courteous. The gentleman who looked at my car advised that, though he could lift the stuck window for $79, the real issue was with my window regulator which needed to be replaced for a fee in the neighborhood of $390. Having read the reviews here and elsewhere, I figured I was speaking to a professional and readily agreed to do and pay whatever was necessary. They didn't have the regulator in store, so the gentleman provisionally lifted and closed the stuck window ($79) and -- here is the FRAUD -- he taped up the base of the window and the interior window controls and told me NOT to touch them until I came back for the regulator replacement. Should I touch the controls, the gentleman warned, the window would come down and I wouldn't be able to get it up. This, it turns out, was not true. He had fixed the problem; I didn't need the regulator. He simply wanted me to come back for the more costly procedure. And I would have never known had my son not fiddled with the window controls. How is that for a swindle! Granted, there could be a perfectly logical way to explain this seemingly fraudulent conduct. If not, perhaps the ungentemanly conduct of the gentleman who looked at my car is at variance with the policy of the shop. This all may very well be. But what's troubling is the indifference I was met with when I tried to lodge a complaint. The response I got was more a shrugg of the shoulders -- which often is a gesture symptomatic of systemic willful blindness. read more

I recently hit a poll which left a decent size dent in my passenger side door. I've been shopping around at several different body shops over the pass few weeks. This shop was my third estimate. I have already decided that I will be self-paying for the damage. I am a young driver and claiming the damage on my insurance would sky rocket my insurance and I would certainly pay more over time. My deductible is $500 and the damage was going to cost me somewhere around $1,100 and $1,400 depending on the shop I picked. The woman inside asked for some general information. As soon as I told her I would be self paying, she insisted I use insurance. She spent the next several minutes, in a very rude tone, telling me why I am making the wrong decision. She was clearing talking down to me and unwilling to accept my decision. I almost left before getting the estimate because of the way she was treating me. I decided to stay and get the estimate, just to find that the man doing the estimate was no better. He spent almost the whole time he was inspecting the car, telling me that this was too much to pay out of pocket. The estimate ending up being around $1,300 which was lower than $1,400 (my first estimate) but higher than the $1,100 (my second estimate). Even if this estimate would have been lower, I most certainly will never use this shop. There are just as reputable shops in the Columbus area. In fact, the shop that gave my the $1,100 estimate was by far the nicest to me, is requiring 3 days versus 5 days AND has better customer reviews on Google and Yelp than McCombe. I would never recommend this shop to my worst enemy. All I ask is to be treated kindly when offering to be a customer and the opposite of that happened today. read more
