I picked up my car today after someone backed into it in the parking lot. Red is a difficult color to match and my car once again looks brand new. My car had a minor side collision and they estimated that the repair was going to be 2 weeks.This was in the middle of may. It's now august when I'm typing this. We went to go pickup our car and when we turned it on the braking system was faulty. I don't understand how you can hold a car for two months and keep in mind we did not have a rental because we thought this repair would be quick but every single week they pushed it back. This company is unreliable and you should never put your car here. It's a shame I can only put a 1 star review because this place deserves a negate 40 star review with how bad the service is. Never put your car ever because they will never fix it on time and won't even fix it right with that time. read more

Today, I brought my truck into A-1 for an estimate. Unfortunately, my door is dropping due to weak hinges and apparently, bad manufacturing. (I guess that's why Japanese trucks are outselling American trucks!) Bob assisted me right away. He was very pleasant and allowed me to interrupt his paperwork to take a quick look at my problem. His advise was very sound, yet expensive. I'm not saying his rates are expensive. It's just that I don't want to pay several hundred dollars to fix something on such an old vehicle. That's my problem, not theirs (or yours). Bob was very knowledgeable and practical. As a matter of fact, he even suggested that if I could find somebody who did body work from home, that would probably save me money. I like that. Bob's not afraid to lose business to anyone. I can only give A-1 3 stars for now, because I have yet to hire them for the reconstructive surgery. But, as soon as I do, I will definitely provide an update to this review. I was referred to A-1 by a trustworthy friend, so I feel good about passing this on to you. A-1 is conveniently located off of Stygler & Johnstown Roads just East of I-270 and the Airport. Walking into this shop was a breath of fresh air. I didn't feel ripped off, and they were very honest. They even talked their way out of my job, by giving me a quick fix. My car is old, and I didn't want to pay for a whole new panel. He fixed the dent for free and sent me on my way. Their facility is impressive, and all other customers there while I was there were very happy with the results of their work. They are very professional, and knowledgeable. Our car was hit and while researching insurance approved shops, I saw the reviews here on Yelp for this place and it seemed like the place to go. Never have we regretted a decision more. They had our car for over 5 weeks and then returned it to us in the worst shape ever. There was a dent at the gas door that was visible, the bumper just below the tail light looked like someone had used a screwdriver to pry off the tail light (which was NOT damaged in the accident) and the clear coat was completely warped. Not only that but the car had some kind of automotive "goo" all over it in spots that were nowhere near the spot where it was hit. It was incredibly hard to get off of the car. I wish we would've taken a picture of the odometer when we dropped it off because it looked like they'd driven it through the woods, it was so dirty. We told him we would not sign off on this as the car now had things wrong with it that weren't wrong even when it was hit. We had gone on a trip and turned in the rental car because he assured us the car would be ready when we got back. It wasn't so because these things were their fault, they would have to provide the rental while they fixed it. Do we get a comparable mid-sized car like the insurance company provided and like we were told would be given to us? No. We get a compact car because now that they have to foot the bill they want to give us a nasty, cigarette smoke soaked car that had an out of state license plate. Thank God my husband only had to drive it a day and a half. He said it was the worst rental ever. Oh but how is the follow up service if you have questions? Excuse me while I laugh. The hubby emailed Br to ask if he could wax the paint job because the car needed washed badly and he never emailed him back, ever. (He had to look up online that NO for 90 days, you should not wax where a car was painted if it wasn't done at the factory) I'm sure I can guess why Br never got back to us, because according to their receptionist as we were waiting to return the rental, they "are so busy. It's great, they have a ton of cars." I said "maybe it's great for you!" HELLO, people are bringing you cars because something is seriously wrong or they've been in an accident!! Show a little couth! I would NEVER recommend these people to anyone to repair their car! read more

Awful customer service. Spoke with Brandon on the phone and he made it clear that I was getting on his nerves with asking questions. Further, when I let him know I wasn't comfortable with how different his answers were in comparison to another employee at A-1, he was very clear in letting me know he didn't care what my perception was. I was in an accident that did front end and suspension damage to my car. Unfortunately, I only had liability coverage on my insurance. When I called & explained I could not afford to have my car brought back to its original condition, and only needed it to be repaired enough to make it safe to drive, I was originally told that would not be possible, as it might reflect poorly on their reputation as a body shop that would bring your car back to looking good AND driving good. When I explained my financial situation, and that I couldn't possible pay the amounts I was being given, (even though he reduced it several thousand dollars), he said to call back in a couple days, after he talked to the owner. When I did, I was told they would be able to repair the suspension, to make it safe to drive, and do what they could with the exterior damage. It took a few days for them to get the proper parts, but when I picked the car up, not only did it drive perfectly, but they had even made an effort to pound out the body damage as best they could---for several hundred dollars instead of several thousand!!! It seems almost unbelievable in this world of money being the most important aspect of being in business, that they would be willing to go so far to help me. When I had full coverage on a vehicle a few years ago, and I could afford to make the car be as good as it was before the accident, I was very pleased with their work, and their customer service. Completely and utterly terrible. After a pretty bad wreck, they had my car in the shop for well over a month working on a repair they told me would take a week. Then, when I got my car back after driving it once, the hose popped completely off of the coolant tank and leaked everywhere. When I called about this they were understanding and called a tow truck for me the next day, however when it got to the shop they claimed that the hose never really came off, there was just hairline crack in it that was leaking. Even though i deliberately looked under the hood to see what was wrong, and saw the hose completely unattached, dangling inside my car the night before. Recently, after having my car back for about a month, my transmission (something they replaced) stopped working in the middle of an intersection. My car wouldn't move no matter what I did. We had it towed to a place that specializes in transmissions, and they told me that the hose to the tank holding transmission fluid had leaked now too, and not only that, but ANOTHER hose was leaking steering wheel fluid inside of my car as well. They are obviously either inexperienced, or were simply lazy with my car, considering THREE of the hoses they replaced had either leaked or completely came unattached. Never again will I take my car here, and I highly suggest you stay far far away from this place, it's not worth it. read more
