Picked up dinner tonight after repeatedly seeing the crab chowder. Went to order and was informed they no longer sell. Young man said most of the "specials," they don't actually have. Whomp whomp. Decided on a pick two - which advertises for $10.99 but almost everything on the menu is marked "premium" causing a $1.50 upcharge. Again the nice young men pointed this out. Feels a bit dishonest. Might as well charge more for the pick two. So the food. My potato was nice and hot but no butter. My Italian sub bread was not toasted and soggy. Honestly I wish I had just ordered the potato. I've not been here in a while and not sure I'd return any time soon. read more

Both our lunches were from the "Take 2", which means 2 items for $8 and some change, which is a very reasonable deal. But for some unexplained reason, an extra $1.25 was added to my French Dip. Also unexplainable was the price difference from our first visit. Because last time, I remember thinking this was a decent place to come that will allow two people to have a simple meal for under $20. No explanation why my total this time was $6 more, and both meals, both times, were from the "Take 2" selections. I took off a star for this, because I really dislike having my (anticipated) total ready, and then have to go digging in my purse to get my wallet out again for even more money when the total is announced higher than expected. I wouldn't have minded had the food been worth the extra cost. It wasn't. My Chicken n Dumplings Soup tasted old. No huge, lean chunks of chicken this time. The noodles were all stuck tightly together on top of one another, which made eating difficult, since the noodles are both wide and thick. They were gummy as well as being stuck together. I did not get any dumplings in this cup, which was disappointing, since that was the best part of the soup the first time I had it. Perhaps the soup was made the day before. It was rather flavorless. My French Dip, which I asked for "grilled" was not as crispy as I'd have liked it to be but it was passable. When I asked for it grilled, the girl said, "We no longer grill our sandwiches", which I wouldn't have known, since I am new to Chattanooga. But you would think if a customer mentions "grilled crisp", and since there were at least seven cooks in the kitchen, probably more, there could have been some effort to crisp it up to resemble something close to what the customer is asking for. I say this with the knowledge there were only three other customers eating in McAllisters, so the ratio of cooks to customers was 2 to 1! The taste of the sandwich itself was rather good, but for the use of a hoagie roll, I would expect their meat weight for that sandwich to not be so light on meat. It needed more meat if you're going to use that much bread. I took off another star for this. I doubt we'll be back. read more

Food was good, service was terrible. They brought an entirely different sandwich than what I ordered, then told me that was what I said. They continued to tell me that it was my fault, charged me an additional amount to get the sandwich I wanted. The manager there needs to learn customer service! Just as much as they make me feel special, I go out of my way to connect with the staff, and learn more about them. First time at this place. What a disappointment. Had club wrap ($13) w/$1 extra Mac n cheese side, and hubby got king club ($13) w/broccoli. Two teas at $6!! My 5" wrap was more empty tortilla than anything. Meat ok but rest surely lacking. Mac and cheese was 90% liquid yellow and about 20 elbows that I had to pick out to try to eat. I thought it was soup at first! Hubby's bread not toasted and fillings were just ok. Where's the bacon?? Staff were kind and professional. My wife and I love McAlisters, we've been to this location several times and had good experiences however, my wife was very surprised to bite into a toothpick that was inside her sandwich this last time we picked up lunch. The toothpick wasn't stuck through the top of the sandwich to hold it all together but instead was laying in between the cheese and meat inside the sandwich. I'm sure this was a mistake but nevertheless a rather dangerous one that could've ended very badly. First time visiting this location and I will not be returning. Ordered 2 salads to go. Did a quick check of the boxes before I left the parking lot, missing dressing. Went back in and got the dressing. Got home, salad number one was ordered with no tomatoes, extra onion, and seasoned grilled chicken. Salad number one had extra tomato, no onion and what looked(and tasted) like boiled chicken. Salad number two was a chef salad add onion and cucumber. Salad number two had no turkey or ham(included in regular chef salad), no cucumber and red o ion that had been quartered and thrown in the box in chunks. I can understand that mistakes happen, so I called the restaurant to request a refund. I spoke with Felicia, who identified herself as the manager on duty. I explained the situation and that I would like to get a refund because I did not receive what I ordered. Felicia did not offer an apology or to initiate my refund. Instead she offered many excuses, people called in, cashiers were making food(pretty sure that's against health code), she herself was usually in charge of the the front office the house but was in the kitchen making food. My husband and I had an early dinner today here and from start to finish it was perfect. The service provided was friendly and the employee was kind enough to offer personal suggestions as well as fan favorites. My jalapeño turkey crunch sandwich was delicious! It's going to be my new favorite here. The sweet tea is the best. And people, let me just tell you about the soup! This soup was packed full of flavor and just the right level heat. wow, bad in so many ways. paid $2.50 additional to add ham to my turkey sandwich. got no ham. good thing I checked it before I left with my to-go order so they could fix that. what they call a "baguette" is not a baguette. it's a very dry, boring, bready tasteless hoagie roll. yuck. the baked potato I ordered was so overcooked inside it was dry and crumbly. the two microscopic pats of butter they included for the tater was like spittin' in the wind on this shriveled up tuber. I needed about 15 of those tiny butters to offset the dryness of this massacred potato. asked for mayo on both sides of the bread, got a teeny-tiny teaspoon of mayo on one side. wanted some olive oil and vinegar on the side so sandwich wouldn't get soggy by the time I got home. was charged 50 cents for that. Place was maybe half-full and it still took 25 minutes to get my order. Honestly, Subway is so much better than this disaster of a restaurant. The guy at the table across from me was so disgusted with his Philly sandwich, he took one bite and stormed out. Don't waste your money here! They're not cheap, but they are horrible. read more

Everything I've tried here, from soups to sandwiches have been good. I have been satisfied. Much preferable to a typical fast food sandwich shop. Comparable to a Panera Bread, but better in my opinion. Not everyone in my family likes it, but it's quick and easy and feels healthier than fast food. read more

I placed a mobile order that said it would be ready by 5:35 today. I waited an extra almost 20 minutes to receive my food. Mind you, when I placed my order I made sure to remove cucumbers due to an allergy. I also asked for avocado on my sandwich. I got no avocado on my sandwich and received tons of cucumber in my salad. I didn't realize the cucumbers were in there until halfway through. While my allergy isn't life threatening, I do now know that due to the negligence in translation of what I ordered versus what I received, I would not recommend this place to anyone else with allergens that they may not catch. I will not be back and if you want to receive what you paid for, I would also not recommend this place because it is clear they do not care about your time nor money. read more

i love mcalister's. however, not every mcalister's is the same. and i want to give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe its because i came in right before they closed (they close on 9pm on sundays) and maybe they ran out of chicken salad? (i ordered the harvest chicken salad sandwich, no tomatoes) but i think my portion was a little bit unacceptable (see pics). they could have maybe told me that they didnt have enough and asked me to get something else? anyway, i didnt notice until i got home just how measly my sandwich looked and by then it was too late to bring it back as they had closed. but i will give them another try if i am still in the area and still seeking out food. but for now, it was just ok. Whenever I order a club sandwich from this McAlister's it is guaranteed that I will be violently ill within hours. That being said, avoid the club. I love their potatoes. My Mother and I used to get a Gallon of Sweet Tea (which is delicious EVERY SINGLE TIME) when there was one on Hwy 153. It was one of our many Favorite Special Things. While we still stop occasionally on Signal Mountain Road, we miss 153 so much! I have bubblegum pink hair and am 8 months pregnant, but today I was invisible to the entire McAllister's staff. I was the only person in line and stood there for a good 5 minutes while not one, but two front employees carried on and didn't even acknowledge me. They even carried on a conversation with the cook regarding the lack of potatoes and I know he could see me, we made eye contact! Then the dishwasher noticed me, and looked at me and her fellow employees before she came out and assisted me. Right next to one of the front employees. I was dumbfounded by the entire situation... not to mention, they are out of potatoes. At 7:20 PM when they're open to 9.. clearly top notch location for McAllister's to operate. read more

I have been feeling a bit under the weather lately...and nothing really speaks to me as comfort food like soup when I don't feel great. Having absolutely no inclination of cooking soup...nope not even opening a can ( I'm weird...canned soups to me are sodium laced crap...I just can't bring myself to actually eat it). Close to my house there is a decent little Chinese take-out restaurant with yummy egg drop soup....and you can get a quart for....$2.00....that is 2 meals...but I really really want broccoli cheese soup. So I look up other places near by with the handy yelp iphone app ...and run across McAlisters. I have never eaten there before but I have heard people enjoy their food...So I give them a call to find out what their soup of the day is...hoping I hear broccoli cheese. The nice gentleman on the phone rambles off about 4 different soups before he says the magic words "And Broccoli Cheddar" ......we have a winner! I ask for the largest soup they have (leftovers my dear yelper friends...) and he tells me the total is $5.12 . A little steep..but I do not care...I want my soup. So i get there and they have everything ready for me.....in a bag, stapled shut. This should have been my first clue...but I am under the weather...thrilled with finding my soup...pft itll be ok.......I pay and leave. I get home....pull the bag apart.....and I have maybe 10 ozs of soup.....*sighs* ok so leftovers there probably will not be, considering its my first meal of the day. They have the cup wrapped in saran wrap, which I really appreciate. Little details like that I notice...after all...who wants broccoli cheese laced car interior? I open it up.....and its water thin soup...ok...its all about flavor....and broccoli....all 2 pieces of it......wth. I am not one to complain but I have cheese water with a couple pieces of broccoli floating around, lonely, in it....oh and lots of shredded carrots...(?) Needless to say the only after taste I have is bitterness twards my lack of comfort food when I wanted it the most. Will I be back? I know most of these reviews are old. The place know is amazing! Their food is always on point, and if anything is wrong, they will remake it for you without any problems. Their staff is friendly and treat you like family. The manager Josh Howard is great too. They are super busy during lunch and dinner time, but with that being said, they still take care of you in a timely and expert manner. You need to try their spuds and sweet tea! I got a Grilled Chicken Salad. Huge, enough to feed a family. A quarter of the way in, I happen to stab a fly with my fork that was hidden in the salad. You could see it's legs. A friend went and got a second fork for me and told them how there was a fly in my salad. All they said was "oh." Oh. No further assistance or replacement salad. Oh.
