Like so many places in Chattanooga, this wonderful restaurant is tucked away next to Coolidge Park…read moreon the north side of the Tennessee river. The restaurant can be found on the lower level just below an ice cream shop. Muscadine vines climb a staircase to the right. On warm days there are a few outdoor seating options which I'm sure are hard to get. In doors were cozy filled with greenery. Seats and table had an American folk feel. I was interested in the beet burger. The day I went, I ordered the special any patty with mushrooms and Gouda. Great flavor! I expected the beet patty to be closer to beet texture. It wasn't very beet like in texture or flavor. It was pink like beets. If you don't like the earthy flavor of beets, you'll be able to handle this patty. I didn't try something new for my sides. I ordered tots-always will choose tots! They were good. My only complaint was that the bathroom lights were to dim! I look forward to coming back here, the next time I need an escape from N AL!

We walked in and had the option of eating outside which we did but the table was dirty so we went back inside and secured a table. We had different waitstaff so we really didn't know who was going to take our order. I ordered the buffalo bowl. My friends seemed to enjoy their food too. The food was okay, the vibe was weird. We were waiting for the server to process our checks but they never came. I had to ask where we paid. I personally would not come back but we really only went because my friend is gluten free.

Unfortunately this visit was disappointing. The prices were not posted anywhere, nowhere, no paper menus with prices. This may be fine for people where money is not an object but although I appreciate the benefits of health food and am willing to pay and this is not the case for me. I found this distasteful. We were quickly told that is was a branding choice to exclude prices and a way to engage more with clientele except when I asked how much things were they didn't know... there is so many more ways to increase engagement between customer and staff. Also, all this being said prices are totally reasonable for a juice bar. Next the avocado toast was missing at least two ingredients the avocado oil and the Himalayan salt, so it was pretty bland, small portion and left us wanting the ingredients we were missing. The coconut sky smoothie was good, sweeter than my usual taste but totally yummy. Overall, this visit left me not wanting to return when I was so looking forward to this long awaited return. It didn't hold the same warmth, authenticity and care this time around.

It was pretty quiet (early on a Friday evening). I only saw one employee while I was there and she was very nice. She brought me a glass of water while I waited. The burrito was DELICIOUS. I added tofu to it, which probably wasn't necessary, but I love tofu. I guess I was a little disappointed they didn't really do anything to it. I should not have eaten the whole thing, but I couldn't stop. The chips and salsa were also really good. The chips were very crispy and the salsa was fresh. The prices are really reasonable too! I would go back if I visited again (and I don't think I'd say that about anywhere else I ate).

Parking: Street parking is conveniently located right out…read morefront and usually easy to find. If those spots are taken, there's additional parking behind the building. Just be prepared for a short walk up the back stairs or around the side to reach the entrance. Seating & Restroom: There's both indoor and outdoor seating. The restroom is gender inclusive and wheelchair accessible. Service: Over the past 10 years and many visits, including celebrating multiple birthdays here, service has sometimes felt a bit inattentive or stretched thin. That said, on my most recent solo Sunday brunch visit, the bartender/server was genuinely warm, friendly, and attentive, which made a noticeable difference in the overall experience. It was refreshing and their kind and caring energy was so appreciated. Prices: Prices are very reasonable for the generous portion sizes. Menu & Food: The menu covers a wide range of offerings, which is ambitious and gives plenty of options. I've returned several times to try something new, hoping to discover a standout dish. I haven't quite found anything to write home about yet as most dishes land in the "just okay" category for me. They're filling, but not especially bold, flavorful, or memorable. As someone who really enjoys vibrant spices and layered flavor, I keep hoping the next dish I try will shine, but everything I've had thus far tends to be a bit on the uninspired side. The pancakes have been the most reliable item over the years. They aren't over-the-top, but they're consistently good and comforting. The kids' stack is especially generous and more than enough for most adults. The only French toast option is peanut French toast; a classic version would be a nice addition for those with peanut allergies or folks just looking for regular French toast. On my latest visit, I ordered the migas, which come as four mini tacos with a small side salad. It was decent, though nothing particularly memorable. I ordered a side of hashed potatoes, which were a bit dry. I also ordered a side of the cheese grits, which were unfortunately the low point for me. They were thin and more brothy than creamy. It was a bit like eating nutritional yeast slop. As a Southerner who absolutely loves grits, I'm honestly hoping there may have been a mix-up that day. I'd hate for anyone unfamiliar with Southern cooking, or vegan grits, to think that's the standard, because they can be incredibly rich and satisfying when done well (Sevananda in ATL, for example, has amazing vegan cheese grits), but these were very disappointing. With a little more creativity in the kitchen and perhaps some bolder seasoning or new sauces, the menu could really shine. I truly hope Sluggo's continues to thrive and considers adding more explicitly organic menu options. Just a bit more flavor and flair could really make it a standout.

There are tons of vegan options, and you don't have to look too hard for gf options if that's your jam. The store itself is packed with amazing health food items like mushroom coffee, shilajit, matcha, electrolytes, and so much more. They also have a refrigerated grab-and-go section with fresh juices, rice paper rolls, chia seed pudding, and a lentil casserole. The glass dessert case is full of vegan treats like peanut butter and chocolate cups, bliss balls, and donuts. The menu is extensive with tons of great organic vegan options. I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich on sourdough (they also offer gluten-free and multigrain) with cashew cheese and a side of chili. I also got a beet juice, a lemon lavender muffin, chia seed pudding, and a decaf oat milk latte. The sandwich was pretty good. The bread seemed really fresh and I enjoyed the cashew cheese. The side of chili had a slight twist that elevated it above most regular chili recipes. It was good, but had a little too much corn for my taste personally. The beet juice was delicious and a generous portion. The desserts were just okay, but I appreciated that they weren't overly sweet and didn't have any weird ingredients. Honestly, it's just so nice knowing your food has no weird ingredients and everything is organic! The only downside was the coffee. Honestly, it was probably one of the worst I've ever had. Maybe it was just an off day or a mistake, I'm not sure. Everything else was good though! I would definitely recommend this spot. The decor is really cute and inviting. I love that they offer plenty of seating options too -- indoor, an enclosed outdoor patio, and an exterior exposed patio. Logistical Notes: Parking was super easy with a lot right out front. There are two accessible bathrooms for people with disabilities, and I love that they have a gender-inclusive restroom as well. You order at the register, they bring you your food, and then you bus your own "tray."
