Overall my girlfriend and I were very pleased. This will now be a good go to spot for us. I had never been and she had been once before and wasnt thrilled with it. But she explained that it was way better. My overall thoughts were that the service was good. It was pretty busy when we walked in but the wait time was cut by 10minutes. That was nice. Our server also checked with us often if we needed anything and how everything was going. Some places don't have this... The pricing was good. The dont feel greasy and heavy leaving me feeling like a bloated mess. The portions were spot on and the drink I got was pretty good. I got an O.F. but it came with the light red basic cherry. We had a reservation, specifying it was my birthday. We arrived about 10 minutes before and the hostess said she was going to clean off a booth for our party of two. While waiting about 15 minutes the hostess sat 3 different walk-in parties, along with one other reservation. She called the reservation name again, then was going to sit another walk-in party, when I reminded her we were still waiting, and her response was "Oh, I can seat you". When at the table we waited 20 minutes before our waitress walked by and said she'd be right back. She returned almost 10 minutes later, apologized for the wait, told us she'd bring our bread and glasses of water, and asked if we'd like to put in a drink order. We placed those, along with our food order. Our water came to the table a few minutes later and then about 15 minutes later our drinks and bread arrived. About a minute after our meals also arrived. About 5 minutes into our meal the waitress returned, asked if everything was okay, and refilled our water. I was in the middle of taking a bite, I would have moved my water glass closer, but the waitress reached over my plate of food and by doing so spilled water into my martini that I'd only had one sip out of. I had ordered the Snapper Veracruz & Shrimp. It was drowning in butter, I took most of it home to add my own vegetables to make multiple meals, because it is absolutely not edible as one. Sat next to the bar to the T.Vs to see the football game. The waitress was so nice I wish I knew her name she needs a raise, she is great. My husband loved the cioppino. He said it was delightful! so savory and filling. He also got an old fashioned. It was apathetically served. With a round ice cube and slice orange of course. I got the cake bread chardonnay from Napa Valley. They did not serve it by glass so I got the bottle and took what I did not drink home. I love that they give the option to recork it and take to go. I wanted to pair it with the clam linguini. Once we received the food the server did not approach the table at all. We had to wave him down after 5 minutes for chili flakes. After asking for the condiments he took another five minutes to bring them. Once I began eating my linguini and clams I found a hair in a clam. I did not feel like acknowledging it since our server rarely approached our table. We simply asked for the check and left Overall, flavorful food with below average service. This was my first visit, and the food was bad. I ordered take-out, the Creative Combos of the trout and filet mignon. The trout was very fishy tasting as if it had been in the freezer for months. The steak was cooked to the right temperature but tasted fishy too as if it had been marinated with the old fish. The stew was loaded with clams, mussels, fish, crab legs, and scallops in a slightly thickened red broth. I had hoped the broth would have had a bit more spice, but it was good. Ok so we did Happy Hour tonight! It was good. I did 3 oysters on the half shell for $7, my issue every time we come is the shanking. I always have shells in my oyster shots. I was hoping for a better turn out this time as I live to give restaurants chances to fix things that need attention. Well. I still got shells in my half shells. So I was crunching after I tried to eat them in one bite straight out of the shell. Anyhow they tasted good until the shell came. Everything else was great this time. One other complaint is I love Tabasco on my oysters as my daughter loves it on her clam chowder. We were asked how was everything and if we need anything ends. We said everything looks great but can we please get Tabasco for the clam chowder and oysters. With a smile yes of course. No tobacco ever showed up until 10 minutes goes by and so we look for our waitress and track her down and we ask again. She did apologize, and so thankful for that since now a days since Covid that's like not heard of anymore and she did bring it. So other then those two things . We will be back. I just won't order oysters anymore . Other then that great place to eat and happy hour is the bomb. Also note to self. I till am not happy with this sue charge they add since most restaurants have done away with it. Hoping they will too. COVID's over and this is when it all started for surcharge. It was my boyfriend birthday (Andy), everything was okay overall. It was our first time we are from LA (Culver City). It's a beautiful place with gorgeous lights. We got in when it wasn't busy which was amazing because we were both very hungry from our adventure out. The waitress took a very long time to come to our table and just waited a while unfortunately. My fries were excellent Cons: The issue was Andy wasn't not feeling alright and right off the bat I could tell and felt horrible! He did not like the lobster tail. Tasted and it felt uncooked and smelled fishy. Threw up moments later and knew something was wrong with the lobster. Told the server and wasn't really much help. Got the manager to come. Went here for a date night with my fiancé and we LOVED it! Our waitress Sam L was very sweet and brought me a gluten free menu and I was so excited to see all of the gluten free options! The fire grilled artichoke was super yummy as well as the scallops and Mahi- mahi. My fiancé ordered the panco crusted ahi tuna and thought it was great! The only seafood restaurant that I am aware of in Simi. Food is fresh and prepared just right. Wait staff is always friendly and attentive. This restaurant is busy in the evenings but the wait time is not too bad The only complaint of this restaurant is that they charge an additional 3% service fee added on your bill to pay for health insurance for their employees. It is on the menu in fine writing. I presume most people don't catch it, but it will appear on your bill. I noticed this started during Covid, and understandably so. But every time I've recently been there, the place is packed and business look good. But the surcharge remains. I fundamentally disagree with this and feel it is not forthcoming and transparent. I say "If you can't pay your employees, it's not a business." They should just raise the price of their menu items instead of trying to sneak this surcharge on everyone's final bill. read more

Very very very disappointed in this place. I've always driven past this place when I'm near the Simi mall and have been curious to try it for months. I finally got myself to go and I can say I wasn't missing much. The food was alright and their happy hour menu is enticing, but what killed me was the service I had. The best of their service was when I got greeted by their hosts, but once it got to the server, I got no service. She was slow to get to us, she wasn't friendly at all to us, and was no help. Prime example of the meal was when I asked her how their margaritas were. She responded to me with a blank face "it tastes like a margarita." Like gee, thanks. I'm glad to know your margarita tastes like a margarita. Next time I'll know the answer whenever I wonder how something is, I'll just have the answer: it tastes like ______.
