Updating my review of my last visit. Mazra isn't ready for prime time. Give them time to work out the kinks. What I said in my recent t 5-star still stands. It was for dining-in. What they got wrong during the same visit was the to-go order that I placed at the counter. I wasn't able to process a to-go order on tbeir site. They got my to-go order wrong 3 times while I was there. The 1st mistake was serving me one of my 5 items on a plate at the table. We had just finished dining-in. The redo of the to-go shorted me 3 things. Even tbe waiter thought the bag was missing part of the order. I got a polite bums rush from an owner when I got the food to-go the 3rd time. Assuming they got it right. I left without checking the bag. Got home and one item was missing. Plus, falafel were burnt. It was the straw that broke the camels back. Hence, this part 2 review. I'll go back. Hopefully, they'll work out the kinks. I don't see the crowds dying down. Glad they finally reopened.
I absolutely love Mazra! Halloumi is my favorite, so the halloumi wrap is a must for me. You can add on fries, which are delicious, and garlic sauce is also available as an add-on (it comes standard with the plates). The plates are a ton of food (basically two meals) so they're probably the best value on the menu. Both the wraps and plates come with a spicy red sauce, which is equally delicious. The service is incredibly fast too. You can order via QR code or walk up to place your order in person. They also have a self-serve station for packing your food and grabbing complimentary tea! They're halal, so no alcohol is served, but you're welcome to bring your own beer or wine. There's no corkage fee, which is rare and such a nice benefit. The staff is so friendly and the ambiance is beautiful!
This spot lives up to the hype. The plates are beautiful and delicious. The hummus, tzatziki, and toum dips are super flavorful. The pita bread is piping hot and fresh. The shawarma loaded fries are so loaded with meat, sauce, and condiments. Must try-shawarma chicken, kofta kabobs, roast potatoes, and hummus.
I've been eagerly waiting to visit the San Bruno location, and finally, my chance arrived! It was quite busy, so we parked down the street-which was no problem at all, since I knew I'd be walking off the big meal I was about to enjoy. The hostesses were fantastic, seating us down immediately. We ordered through the Toast App, and I chose the Garlic Rotisserie Chicken with rice, salad, and cucumber dip. -Everything arrived beautifully prepared, though I didn't get to try the cucumber dip because my dining companion preferred it over their hummus--a perfect trade, since the hummus was also superb. My daughter went for the Chicken Shawarma plate, and she was so enamored with her meal that she nearly finished the whole thing, despite eating like a bird. Clearly, she devoured her food. The remodel is beautiful and very cozy.
Perfection. You can't fault anything. I've been waiting for them to reopen and it was definitely worth the wait! The new remodel is stunning - it felt like Scottsdale vibes I tried the Halloumi Cheese Roll appetizer and loved. My go to order is the Chicken Shawarma Plate that comes with your choice of two sides and pita bread. The chicken is perfectly seasoned and grilled. The delightful smell of the grill that you smell when you are walking in? You can actually taste it in the meat!! The rice is amazing and I can never get enough of the garlic toum and hot sauce that it comes with. The problem is picking the sides! I love the Arabic salad, tabbouleh, which both add such a refreshing taste to the plate but I also love the hummus for the pita that it comes with and the tzatziki is a must. The fries are also so crispy and good!! The price is so decent for the amount you get - one plate usually equals 2-3 meals for me. Their system is genius. You can order through a QR code when you get to your table and they have everything you need on the side (water, complimentary tea, utensils and take-out supplies) but they also have servers walking around checking in and taking your plates so it doesn't feel like a completely self-serve experience. Love love love Mazra - so happy it's open again!
I really like the cleanliness and atmosphere of the restaurant. It's definitely a nicer looking establishment. I came on a Wednesday night around 7 pm and there was about a 30 minute wait for a table of two. They provide warm tea while you wait, which is nice because it's usually cold and windy in San Bruno. You place your order with a QR code and they have several areas where you can get water and utensils yourself. It's a bit hard to flag someone down but not impossible. The food was good and I'd come back.
Heard ALOT of good things about this place and had to check it out with my wife for date night. Very busy but the wait wasn't tooo long. You order thru your phone and the food is brought out promptly. Food was fresh and huge portions! They have a great variety of different dishes and it's Byob!
Every item on the menu is outstanding! The roasted cauliflower is my favorite. I'm not sure how they get it so tender and flavorful. We also had the branzino and lamb chops. Everything was seasoned to perfection! The new remodel is gorgeous. It's so convenient to be able to order at the table now. The staff are kind, upbeat, and eager to please. I'm so glad they reopened!
We tried Mazra for the first time after hearing so many good things, and honestly the first attempt didn't even work out. The electricity went out while we were ordering, so we had to leave without getting anything. We ended up coming back the next day because we really wanted to try it. I'm glad we did because the dips were so good--definitely the best part. Super fresh, really flavorful, exactly what I was hoping for. The drink we got was really good too. We also got the grilled veg bowl with oyster mushrooms, rice, falafel, and cauliflower. It was fine, but I feel like it could've used a little more flavor. It just didn't stand out as much as the dips. The restaurant itself was very cute but very busy. I would come back, but I wouldn't order that bowl again. I'd stick to the dips and try something else next time.
Came by for dinner the other night and it was a smokey experience with a live show! Street parking was plentiful and easy to find. The outdoor section in front of the kitchen was a smokey experience. The front entrance drive-thru was beyond packed with double-parking, cars constantly going in and out...saw my share of near misses during my dining experience. The restaurant appears to be doing a ton of take out. There was signage to order first at the counter and then the food will be brought to the table. There was also a staff member that appears to be a host/busser/waiter at the same time which was confusing?!? The food itself was okay. Requested the double kabobs medium rare and was told they don't take requests?!? The lamb kabob came out well done like a rock. The ground beef kabob was decent though. The bed of rice was on the mushy side. The side of grilled vegetables and french fries were decent. The side of bread was tasty too! read more

Mazra is probably my favorite restaurant in the area right now. The food is amazing, the prices are fair for the quality and quantity, and the vibes from the restaurant itself are fun and inviting. I literally have only one non-positive thing to say about eating here: parking at the restaurant itself, either in front or in back, is usually pretty hard, but even so, we've always been able to find a spot in one of the lots after just a few minutes. My favorite dish from them is their chicken shawarma plate, which comes piled high with thinly cut pieces of juicy, spiced chicken, tender yellow rice, toum (garlic sauce), a punch-packing red hot sauce, and pickled and fresh vegetables. It also comes with pita, which recently has been pleasantly fluffy and chewy, and two of their amazing sides. We usually both get shawarma plates and share the four sides between us, with our go-tos being their hummus, baba ghannoush, tzatziki, and French fries. The hummus and baba ghannoush are both creamy and earthy in ways that work alone and mixed with their other items, and the tzatziki is a refreshing, bright flavor contrast that helps lift the whole meal. Their fries have a light, golden, crispy shell and a pillowy interior that make it hard to have just one at a time. Fair warning, though, their shawarma plate is filling, so it's best when you're wanting leftovers to bring home or are otherwise eating light that day. It's hard not to order their shawarma plate each time, but when we haven't, we've also tried their kebab plate, branzino plate, and grilled salmon plate. The salmon is my favorite of the three. They grill the salmon to a perfectly tender, juicy medium rare, and the green hot sauce they give with this plate has an herbaceousness that pairs well with the fish. So even if shawarma isn't your thing, their other options are still exceptional. A cool perk of dining in is that they have their house tea available in a big serving urn, so you can help yourself to more throughout your meal. Their tea is subtly flavored with sage and other spices that create a nice, comforting sensation as you drink, and it's the perfect accompaniment to their dishes. I'm so excited for them to open their second location in Redwood City later this year! read more
One of the best Mediterranean restaurants in the Bay Area! I've come here numerous times and always leave satisfied. They have great service and plenty of seating. Parking can be a little challenging. Street parking online. I usually get the chicken kebob plate and the whole cauliflower. read more

Never disappoints, food always hits the spot. I always take all my friends visiting the bay area here and they all love it. The service style is help yourself style, in terms of you order at the cash register and you seat yourself, they give you a buzzer and once it rings you pick your food. What I love about this place is the arab vibes and nice paintings that has low-key jokes. Food portions are amazing to the price point, and the taste is impeccable read more
So much flavor! Everything was sooooo good! When the food came out I didn't think there was that much, but I couldn't finish it. Everything was amazing! They have free cinnamon tea that was so nice on a cold night, and everything was really excellent. The lamb had so much flavor and seasoning but not spicy, the octopus was tender with a perfect char on it, the rice fluffy and flavorful, the hummus creamy, and everything was just so comforting and good! Parking lot is tiny, but plenty of room inside the resturant, and food came out pretty quickly on a Friday night. Must try! read more
Came with my friend. It was my first time here, probably my second attempt at Mediterranean food. I don't have Mediterranean food often because I had it once and didn't really like it. I'm happy to say that Mazra changed my perspective. Even before walking in, you could see how popular this place is by the hectic parking situation and long line. However, despite that, it was totally worth the hype! The ambiance, food, service, everything was great! As a first-timer at this restaurant and someone who isn't familiar with Mediterranean food, I very much appreciated the great service. It was pretty much self serve. You order from the counter at the entrance, get handed a beeper, and grab any empty seats. Then when your beeper goes off, you can go to the other counter that's on the same wall, but further inside the restaurant, and bring your food to your table. I had a little trouble carrying everything , and was immediately offered help to bring the food over. You can grab utensils, napkins, plates, to-go boxes, water/tea etc at the table in the front of the restaurant where the big windows are. Shoutout to Jordan, who was super nice and not only helped us pick out some amazing food to order, but also checked in on us while we were eating and showed us where the drinks and stuff were. read more
Those lamb chops.. goodness gracious. I'm not even a huge fan of lamb (can be gamey), but these are total juicy hunks of lamb, so perfectly salted, on a bed of this yellow rice that simmers with the taste of the grill. Incredible! Their hummus is also good (liked it more than the too-smokey babaganoush), and their baklava is a little too sweet but good. But those lamb chops are the must. 5 stars!!!! read more
The food here is goooood! I'm usually not a big fan of Mediterranean food but this place's food is something else. They have large portions, and it's very savory. They also have really good customer service. They do have reallllyyyy long ordering lines so you would have to wait, but it's definitely worth the wait. Once you order and get your food, you would need to find your own place to sit, and since there's a lot people, finding a place also is a bit difficult. However, all in all, the food is worth it. read more
Finally got to try this delicious restaurant. It was pretty busy upon arriving but had a couple tables open. We ordered a couple wraps, mezza sampler, and cauliflower. The falafel were so great with a nice crust/texture to the outside and inside was not dry. The dips were all flavorful and nice thick consistency. The wraps were tasty with the spices and grill of the meat. The cauliflower had great seasoning and cooked well so it was gone in no time. There was a steady stream of customers and tables being turned over. It was clean and everyone was very friendly. The parking lot in front is very small. We parked a block away but was easy to find parking and worth the very short walk. read more

When you walk in, you place your order at the bar area. After placing your order and paying, there's about a 15 minute wait time for your food to be prepared. Wait time felt kind of long, but I know it was also really busy as there were many online orders as well. Great food. Got the lamb shank which was moist and very flavorful. Definitely worth getting. Get here early since the line can get pretty long. And the parking can be a challenge. The is all cooked in the back which can get you hungry as you walk by the grills to the bathroom. Tried the chicken and lamb plate too. It was good. But this lamb was a little dry compared to the lamb shank. The fries were good hot and crispy and flavorful. Next time will try the roast chicken plate. read more
Do yourself a favor and just eat here. It'sone of the best spots in the bay, hands down the best for kebab. The chicken kebab is so flavorful and juicy, the lamb shank is also amazing. They are GENEROUS with the sides and theyre all worth trying. Prices are super reasonable for what you get. read more

Delicious and fresh! Ordered grilled shrimp kebab plate with side of the salad and tabouleh both were fresh and delicious. It came with yummy yellow rice. Didn't need to eat much to get full. Also had The small falafel which I ate right away. Would totally order from here again. read more

Came here on a Friday night and parking was a pain so plan to park in the neighborhood surrounding Mazra! You'd be lucky to get a spot in their small parking lot! Although it was extremely busy, the lines to order were moving fast. The wait to get the food was not too long either. The most interesting part of my experience here was writing my name down in a waitlist for seats after I have ordered. I found it a bit strange, but I suppose it makes for a more efficient and accurate waitlist for the business. I got the garlic rotisserie chicken plate and it was delicious. Portions are huge as well! I also enjoyed the complimentary black tea! read more

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal tonight at Mazra. Had to take care of some business at SFO and wanted some dinner before. Yelp led us here. Great menu, festive ambience, friendly, helpful service and delicious well prepared fresh food Salad had a large variety of fresh greens with a delicious dressing- think it was pomegranate. I had a well prepared falafel wrap and my partner enjoyed the bbq chicken wrap. Delicious serve yourself hot tea. I left full and satisfied and because of their efficiency I was not late for my appointment. read more
Had a bunch of friends recommend mazra and was finally able to go this past weekend. Ordering is quick and easy (you can choose the pick up time!), Once you get to the restaurant, the food is on the shelf with your name and order. The portion is decent, I thought it'd come with a little more for the price. The onions/jalapeno/lemon took up a lot of space in the box. Taste wise, everything was well flavored. I got the double kebab plate of chicken and shrimp, there were 4-5 pieces each. The garlic sauce added a nice kick and "sauciness" needed for the chicken (was a little dry). The red chili sauce is pretty spicy, so try a little before you douse the meat in it, I couldn't handle it. Pita bread is soft and pillow-y on the first day and pairs well with the hummus. I didn't finish it and had leftovers - the pita got hard and after microwaving, it turned it pita chips hahaha. Dolmas were good but wish the rice had a little more flavor. Overall, good first time at mazra and I definitely need to visit again and try a wrap and the gyros and falafels. I heard there's tea too read more

MAZRA!!!!!!! is hands down the best restaurant in the Bay for casual dining. Top notch middle eastern food and ive visited many middle eastern countries to tell u it's beyond superb. The staff is wonderful always helping. The vibe is fun casual friendly. I haven't visited redwood city yet. Unfortunately both locations are closed for renovation. 1 planned and 1 just had a fire. Dont, let it discourage you. Follow them on Instagram. You'll see the abundance of great community being made here and once they are up and running I will be back!! Yall domt know the obsession. This place is incredible and has a line out the door at almost all hours of the day. i always get chicken shawarma plate with potato's and fries. it is so flavorful!! the spicy dip is also very good and has a nice kick to it. i've also tried their lemonades before and they are very tangy and have a strong flavor, but i like that. the ambiance is the best part of this place. very instagrammy. neon signs, local art hung up, pretty light fixtures, a mirror to take pictures in, funky tables. this place has it all and i would definitely recommend checking it out!! read more
Mazra used to be that Green Valley Market then, it was still serving Mediterranean then. Now that the grocery store was taken down and the place was completely revamped for a restaurant, there's plenty of seating space available, probably too much for a spot with a small parking lot. Unfortunately, the space isn't available for use for most of Covid lockdowns. The interior is super cute, everything is pretty much grammable. They do have outdoor seating under heat lamps if you decide to eat on site. I first had their kebab plates from a Yelp event, and I couldn't get myself to try other things on the menu as of yet. Kebab choices include beef, lamb, chicken, shrimp. Lamb and beef are very juicy and flavorful. The amount of protein for the plate is decent. Along with their fragrant rice, this could easily be 2 meals, but very hard to not finish in one sitting. The plates come with 2 sides of your choice, they're more like tasters in the sauce dishes than sides. The pita here is pretty soft and airy, it's just enough if I go for 2 dipping sides instead of having fries as a side. I'm generally not a fan of nutty desserts, i did have one of their baklava, they had the original pistachio and a nutella. Had a third flavor, but i forgot. That original one was amazing! It wasnt extremely sweet like I had imagined and it was oh so flakey! I tried to get it a second time but they were out. So if you see them, get one for yourself. It's bombtastic!! read more

#2 in Yelp's 2021 list of top 100 US restaurants sounds right!! I am so glad I followed the amazing reviews to this place. Delicious food, great service, and aesthetic atmosphere - Mazra checks off a lot of boxes! You know a place has to be good if there is someone cooking kebabs over an outdoor charcoal grill. And did I mention they're doing outdoor seating during COVID? All the employees are really friendly, they go out of their way to help you and give their personal recommendations from the menu. I ended up ordering a street wrap and a beef/lamb plate. The lamb was my favorite meat, it was steak-like and super tender. Also, I can never find a place in the US that puts fries inside their wrap, but Mazra does this and it is so delicious! Honestly, everything on their menu seems really good so you probably can't go wrong ordering anything. I will be back multiple times to try everything! read more

I recently stopped at Mazra on my way to SFO and was pleasantly surprised. The earthy veggie soup of the day was delicious and the chicken kebob was very tender. The dining area was airy and comfortable. You order at the counter and they buzz you when your food is ready. They also offer complimentary cinnamon tea which is a nice touch. The staff were friendly and helpful. The only downside was that they didn't offer a mix of their side dishes. All in all, I would definitely recommend Mazra and will be sure to stop here next time I'm in the area. I have been to Mazra a dozen times and this place is ALWAYS ON POINT -- THEY DO NOT MISS!!! This place is a beautiful grocery store turned restaurant and a hidden gem in San Bruno. I came here once when it wasn't crowded and that's because I the restaurant just opened LMAO! This place is always crowded, full, and lines out the door. Yelp rated this place top 100 restaurants and is at the top of the list for a reason!! Their food is SOOO SOOO SOO FREGGGGIN DELICIOUS. Everything off of their menu tastes amazing from the appetizers, to sides, hummus, and entrees. SERIOUSLY, THIS PLACE SATISFIES ALL MY SENSES: VISUALLY PLEASING, AESTHETICALLY PLEASNG, AND SATISFIES MY TASTE BUDS. I also love the decor of the restaurant. They have their grill or BBQ in the back and that is why their meats are all so fresh and tasty. FRESH AND HOT OFF THE GRILL! I have tried almost everything off of the menu and everything is good! - *GARLIC SAUCE -- Honestly, its sooo good you cannot stop eating it with everything -- SERIOUSLY ADDICTING - Octopus - Grilled to perfecting and very fresh - Lamb - Beef - Chicken - Halloumi Cheese Rolls -CHEESE CRUNCHY DELICIOUS - Street Fries - Crispy Cauliflower - CRISPY, SOFT, DELICIOUS -- one of the best I have ever had - Falafel Mezza Sampler - Basmati Rice **MUST GET AND GET EXTRA BECAUSE WE COULD NOT STOP EATING THE RICE -- WE FINISH IT THERE EVERYTHING AND GET THE BIG FAMILY STYLE PORTION One thing I do appreciate is everything is self serve for the to go boxes, plates, water, silverware/utensils, napkins and tea! Oo0oo0o they also have cute crewnecks for sale and we all bought them in tan -- so cute, comfy, and I literally wear it all the time. Like, WHAT just happened right now?? Okay, look, there are some solid middle eastern food in the Bay Area, but none, I mean NONE come close to comparing what we just experienced at Mazra. Made the trip all the way from Oakland for take-out. During pandemic times, this is about 30 minutes each way. Being from LA, this doesn't even make me blink an eye, but for those not used to a 30 minute ride for food, this is REALLY worth it. We ordered: 1. Crispy Cauliflower (great, but not crispy once home) 2. Halloumi Cheese- sooo good 3. Kibbeh (2) - OUT of this WORLD. If you grew up eating Kibbeh, this is a MUST. No one else comes close to getting this right. 4. Falafel 5. Mezza Sampler 6. Garlic Toum Paste - Amazing!! Will be dreaming of this. 7. Shawarma Plate - chicken 8. Double Kebab Plate Chicken and lamb - incredible 9. Ground Beef & Herbs Kebab 10. Hummus 11. Chili Sauce (skug, if you're Iraqi Jewish or Israeli) 12. I first discovered Mazra when it just opened in 2020 and it wasn't as popular yet but still had 5 star ratings. I remember trying it and was blown away by how great the food tasted. I came back here recently and was super excited to have it again since I had such a great first experience. I ordered online and headed over. The food was not ready when I arrived but they were really nice about it and went to check on the status and thanked us for waiting patiently. I ordered the Shawarma Plate with steak and 2 side choices of fries and macaroni chicken salad. Also got a Street Style Wrap with steak as well. The plate portion was huge and very fulfilling. I was surprised to see how big their side of fries were and was enough to share with two people. Their fries are amazing btw... Their macaroni salad was not one of our faves though. Mazra was the first place where I had fries inside of a wrap and it was actually a good mix with everything inside. This is now one of my fav Mediterranean places and I am so curious to try the 6 hr lamb shanks next time! read more

Mazra has quickly become my go-to when visiting the Peninsula! Everything we have tried is fire, but their fries are next level. Most places have good or whatever fries, but no matter how busy Mazra is, their fries always taste super fresh and perfectly seasoned. Incomparable. They are vegetarian-friendly -- they offer halloumi cheese and oyster mushrooms as the veggie protein options, and you can't go wrong with either. We usually order the street wraps. Portions are generous and sooo good. The hummus, baba ganoush, and raspberry lemonade are also great. If you go on a weekend, expect. a. wait. Parking can also be tough because their lot is small. The restaurant can be hard to miss because they haven't replaced the Green Valley Market sign with a Mazra one quite yet, so make sure to set your GPS accordingly. Service is friendly and they keep the restaurant clean and trendy. I love the vibes in here and all the decor, while still allowing for ample seating. read more
Mazra has never disappointed. I typically order a chicken or falafel shawarma wrap or the lamb chops/lamb shank. Sometimes just the medi platter. Love the rice, babaganoush. Naturally, I got so excited ordering their food for lunch today. I ordered a large Arugula Beet salad through Yelp. Menu was shown in the first pic. But I got a canned beet salad!! So bummed. Excellent!!! Everything on the menu is to die for. You can't go wrong so to say there is a favorite is a tough one. All delicious. This is my 3rd time back in a month and I live on the East Bay. Learned about Mazra via Yelp during the pandemic. 100 top restaurants on Yelp or something like that. When I first visited, they only had seats on the other side. Now, the main dining room is well decorated. The food is super tasty and feels healthy. The cashiers usually seem pretty friendly. My go to is the street wrap. I prefer the shawarmas over the kebabs. Have dined in, ordered take out, and ordered via delivery apps. Always delicious. Sometimes the line gets long though since the place is near the airport. Definitely check this place out! read more

I truly enjoyed my first time at Mazra- fun and pleasant vibe, the place is clean. fresh & good quality food. The portions are great. I particularly noticed their first come first serve system- order first then have your order # listed to be seated...it works! We ordered the wood-fired branzino- excellent fish dish, the double kebab plate was so good and of course, the roasted whole head of cauliflower- the BEST! It's one of the most popular dishes. Yelping in the era of Covid is challenging, made more so when I'm the one to select a destination but not the one to place the order or pick up the food. That's my way of saying that I have no idea what Mazra looks like. Also to note that cobbling together an order from the on-line menu was excessively confusing for my 4-person party. A couple of us figured out what we wanted and sent the other two directly to Mazra so that they could look at an actual menu and place all of our orders in person. Even then, there were problems. Returning with a bagful of great looking food it was quickly noted that one of the 4 entrees ordered and paid for was missing. See? None of these things is a problem in a normal world where we all go to the restaurant together and order there and dine there. And hopefully the issues I had will disappear once Earth returns to normalcy. Anyhow, the food, once we had it all in front of us, was good and would only have improved had we been able to enjoy it all together when it was at its most piping hot. Halloumi ($7), always a win, would've been best hot off the grill but even consumed a half hour past the ideal consumption time, it was good. I mean: grilled cheese. Enough said. I really enjoyed my Steak Shawarma Plate ($15) as well. Even though it was heavy with rice, the rice was satisfying and the meat in every bite left me sated. I didn't try the 6-Hour Lamb Shank Plate ($18) but the person who did consumed it so rapidly and fully that it was an obvious winner. The one who ordered a Falafel Mezza Sampler ($13) was the only one of us 4 to say he'd order differently next time and sadly, this may have been as result of the lag time between preparation and consumption. The fried foods he'd chosen didn't weather the lag time well and a couple of the included 5-signature side orders fell short of delicious. Mediterranean food is a favorite of mine and I'd happily return. If I have to order to-go I'd carefully check my order before leaving then I'd go as nearby as possible to lay into the spread. read more

Tabbouleh is indicated "GF" on their menu, but isn't Tabbouleh traditionally made with cracked wheat aka Bulgur? Does anyone know if they actually use a gluten free sub (ex. Millet or quinoa)?

Regarding the family pack it all depends how you eat and if they are all adults. For sure 4 adults will be satisfied. It's a little bigger. Not spicy and amazing food :)
