This place is definitely a hidden gem! Everything we ordered was amazing and delicious. The staff was very friendly and engaged with conversations with us. Always made sure our waters were filled and constantly checked in on us. The place was a little small but once you start eating you don't even notice it. Will def be coming back here!

Every time I come to Sofra it hits so good. The service is top notch, the food is excellent and flavorful, and the ambiance is nice, especially after the remodel! Sofra always had a line before so I'm glad they were able to expand, but I'm also so happy that even with more space there is still sometimes a line! It's cool seeing the owner so invested too in his employees and the guests too. This last time I ordered the beyti and of course it was excellent, but anything is delicious with some garlic spread on it! I usually love the salmon wrap too. Yum, yum, yum!

Low-key one of those spots you don't expect to hit this hard. Everything tastes fresh, like actually fresh--not just "restaurant fresh." The meats are juicy, well-seasoned, and grilled right, and portions don't feel skimpy. Service is fast and chill, no weird attitude, just good people running it. Place has a casual vibe, nothing fancy, but that kind of works--it's about the food. Definitely one of those "I'll be back" spots, not a one-time try.

The food is phenomenal! Every dish was packed with authentic flavor, beautifully prepared and incredibly fresh. The kababs were genuine and made me miss home! The staff were super friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond to make sure we felt welcome. Ambiance is great for a date or family meal.

We came here for a late lunch, and had the hummus and pita, Branzino, chicken shawarma, and the lamb chops plates which come with rice and salad. There was a bit of a wait to be seated and for our orders to be taken but the food was pretty food! The hummus was fresh, we finished it all! The entrees were larger portions and we had some leftovers to go. Overall, would come back. Happy eating!

I went to Sofra Grill today after seeing a TikTok from Hella Hansel, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. We started with the hummus and flatbread. The hummus was incredibly creamy, drizzled with delicious olive oil, and the flatbread was hot and fresh -- honestly, I could have stopped there and been happy! For my entrée, I had the lamb shank baked inside an incredible dough. They cut it open tableside to reveal fall-off-the-bone lamb sitting on a bed of yellow rice with tomatoes, onions, and carrots. It's served with a garlic spread that perfectly complements the bread, lamb, and rice. The portion was huge and only $25.99 -- an absolute steal. I had my 7-year-old with me, and he ordered the flatbread with cheese (basically a sauceless pizza -- perfect for a picky eater!) along with the Parmesan garlic fries, which were amazing and definitely shareable. The food was fresh, beautifully prepared, and the service was phenomenal -- attentive, knowledgeable staff who truly enhanced an already fantastic dining experience. If you haven't been to Sofra Grill yet, you're missing out!

So glad we came here Sofra was a perfect stop came here right before 12 and the place started filling up quick and for good reason the food here is SO GOOD Staff here don't mess around food comes out quick! Don't judge this place based on the size or location let the food do the talking. A personal must get from here would be the Zaatar and cheese flatbread and dipping it into their garlic toum. The meats are tender and juicy my mouth is watering looking at the photos again. Baba Ganoush here is perfect I'm a huge fan took it home with extra pita. If this place is one of the options on whatever choices you have for lunch or dinner tonight COME HERE

SO HAPPY I found this place but it is likely the best Mediterranean / middle eastern food I've ever had. Not only that but the workers really treat you like family. They're always checking in on you even when the restaurant is completely packed. My husband and I had the best time here. We got the hummus w steak that we absolutely devoured even before our entrees even got there. The lamb shank dish I could eat with a spoon because of how incredible tender it was. My husband LOVED the chicken shawarma. The tea with the flakey pistachio dessert that's like baklava but with cream is a must have to wrap up your night. 10/10 restaurant for a casual and perfect night out. Definitely will be coming back.

Sofra keeps popping up at the top of my yelp so I wanted to visit. my friend and I got beef Shawarma wraps to go and couldn't wait to try The wraps were really awesome! The beef was plenty and flavorful, they split the portions into two wraps to keep the balance, and the whole thing came together so tastefully. They also come with a bag of fries, garlic sauce, and hot sauce which completes the whole experience. Can't wait to add Sofra to the rotation, and SO glad that it was so good!

This was a Lamb dish. I'm blanking on the full name though- sorry!

The food was amazing, tasty, halal, and affordable! We went during Ramadan and even the attention to detail by offering us dates to break our fast was such a beautiful detail. I will be going again and recommend to anyone looking for a new favorite food spot!

So yummy and friendly. I first learned about this place when I was invited to a Yelp Elite event. Based on how they were able to handle mass quantities of food and still deliver good quality, I knew they were a restaurant that would provide a satisfying Mediterranean meal. We've been by a few times now and the last time we beat the dinner rush. There was a long line after we got seated which seems to the the norm here even on a week night. There were three adults and three children on a Wednesday night. First, we started with Fries. They were so good and crisp. We also got Hummus, and Baba Ghanoush, which came with fluffy pita bread. Their Hummus is creamy and yummy. Then we split the Mixed Grill Platter, Salmon, and Lamb Chop. The Mixed Grill said it was for two but seriously, it could've fed four adults. Everything on that platter was delicious. My son loved every bite even though he had ordered the Salmon and enjoyed that just as much. The other two kids wanted the Lamb Chop, which was so tender. Another great thing about this place is their friendly staff. Everyone is so nice. They come by at the right time to check in and refill the water container. We're so happy this place opened!

Dined here on a weekday night, and it was still very crowded. After a 25 minute wait for two people we got seated and ordered the lamb shank and biryti dishes as well as the steak fries. I loved the biryti, creamy sauces complimented the meat well, and the lamb was so tender and presentation was lovely! The steak fries were fresh and good too. Ambiance is lovely with an authentic yet trendy feel, we got 9 pieces of baklava before leaving and they were flaky and delicious! Overall this place is very charming and I'd return if in the area.

I've always wanted to try sofra grill and heard many good things about it! We decided to go and definitely liked the service. overall I liked my shawarmas which were very huge for how it was priced. I got one beef and one chicken. My lady didn't get to enjoy here's however the tables lamb kabob liked very delicious so we might've ordered the wrong items But 10/10

The atmosphere was stylish, welcoming, and perfect for a relaxed evening out. We shared several Mediterranean bites, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The quality of the ingredients really stood out, and each dish was packed with flavor. The cocktails were excellent, and my husband especially enjoyed the Japanese whiskey flight, which was a fun way to sample a variety of unique whiskeys. It was a great addition to the meal and made the experience feel even more special. As fans of Pera Mezze House in Roseville, we were excited to learn that Meyhouse shares the same ownership, and the same attention to quality and hospitality definitely shines through. Great food, delicious drinks, and wonderful service. We look forward to coming back the next time we're in Palo Alto!

I was put in charge of finding a group lunch spot (a responsibility I do not take lightly), and…read moreafter a bit of digging, landed on Meyhouse on Emerson in Palo Alto. As someone who likes Turkish food, this felt like a strong contender. Food: We started with the lahmacun which is made up of a thin Turkish flatbread topped with ground beef, tomato, onion, pepper, and garlic. It was beautifully thin and crispy, with just the right amount of topping. Honestly, add a small salad and you've got the kind of lunch that makes you feel satisfied. This lahmacun is one of the better versions I've had which made it extra tragic to learn it's a lunch-only situation. Why gatekeep happiness to daytime hours? For my entree, I ordered the Alinazik which was grilled tenderloin skewers over eggplant labneh. The beef was tender and the labneh was creamy, savory and a tad smoky. I saw that they offer a $44.95 prix fixe menu, which sounds great in theory, except for the small catch that everyone at the table has to commit. A bit of a "we ride together, we prix fixe together" situation which may not work depending on your dining companion(s) dietary restrictions. Atmosphere: The space is bright, airy, and stylish. The high ceilings resulted in lots of natural light, and a large bar that quietly suggests, "you could have a cocktail or two." One slightly odd note: The bathroom lighting is very dim. Like... "is this ambiance or did someone forget a switch?" kind of dim. Not a dealbreaker, just a curious contrast to the otherwise well-lit space. Overall: A solid pick for Turkish food in Palo Alto located off Emerson and a successful group lunch choice (I will be taking full credit). I'd happily come back to explore more of the menu. I'm already eyeing the Pirzola (bone-in lamb chops) or the Filet of Levrek (branzino) and maybe lobby for all-day lahmacun.

Monday nights during pandemic times brought (according to the SF Chronicle) hospitality workers to…read moreKitchen Istanbul en masse. It wasn't just the food they say, but the remarkable wine list, which turned the place into a see-and-be-seen spot akin to NYC's Elaine's (RIP). If this isn't quite how you imagine anyplace along SF's Clement Street, think again. Years later it's still packed (on a Friday night) and loud. Service was the sole miscue on my visit with 3 others. We were given menus and water but ignored after that, to a point where we reached out to get some wine and attention. As you can see from the 5-star assessment, no harm-no foul; once wine and food flowed all was forgiven. The menu required some explanation. It's not broken down in any discernible way, requiring the server to explain that all dishes ae meant to be shared and that the first several dishes are dips, then small plates, then larger. In truth, all seemed like small plates to me (or small servings) but if your wallet permits, you'll not be disappointed. There wasn't one thing we shared that we didn't 100% consume nor anything I'd not recommend. Since we sampled almost the entire menu I feel comfortable saying that everything is delicious and attractively presented. We left the alcohol order to the one at our table who'd chosen Kitchen Istanbul and she summoned the sommelier and gave him free reign. He asked what we like (hearty reds) and what we wished to spend (about $75/bottle) and we enjoyed 2 completely unique offerings that we'd not have known to choose for ourselves. He was also tasked with pairing two of the dessert wines with two of the chosen desserts and they were as enjoyable as the wines served with dinner. It's fair to say that the sommelier had fun with our table, stopping by before we left to say how much he'd appreciated the opportunity to choose for us and for us placing our trust in him. Like the rest of the City I was following Sam Smith's food journey during his time here. He never made it to Kitchen Istanbul but if he had, I think he'd have nodded in agreement with the 5-star rating.

Out of respect for the restaurant, I called to cancel our reservation rather than simply not showing up. While it was admittedly close to the reservation time, OpenTable does not allow cancellations within 24 hours, and the restaurant itself wasn't open until 5 PM, making it difficult to provide additional notice. Despite explaining the situation, I was charged the full $50 per person cancellation fee. What was most disappointing wasn't the fee itself, but the complete lack of flexibility or empathy given the circumstances. I was even told they would prefer I come dine alone while my partner was sick because it was better for the restaurant than giving up the reservation. "It's a reservation business not a walk in business"...although I walked in myself last weekend. As someone who had dined here the week prior and planned to become a regular customer, this felt shortsighted. Restaurants are certainly entitled to protect themselves from no-shows, but there should be room for reasonable discretion when a guest makes a good-faith effort to communicate an unexpected medical situation. The food is absolutely worth trying. The customer service experience, unfortunately, left a very different impression. If you're making a reservation well in advance, be sure to keep track of it carefully, as the restaurant may still enforce cancellation fees even if you are a returning or prospective long-term customer.

What upset me even more was how this was handled when I called the restaurant to let them know. Instead of showing concern, the woman I spoke with told me that she ate the food herself and was "fine," which came across as dismissive and unwilling to even consider my experience. I understand that not every issue is clear-cut, but a response like that lacks basic customer care. At the very least, I would have expected some empathy or a willingness to look into it. sultan b eating this kebab UP!! it is so yummy. food is 10/10 no matter what you order (except…read moredesserts). service is quick and lines are longer than my dead fried hair. it was pretty affordable (what even is affordable in the bay) but idk because other people paid for my meal since i'm broke! yay! location - pretty easy to find its in like a business plaza thing. they have indoor and outdoor seating but i hate sitting outdoors because the wind blows my hair into the food and then i eat my hair ew food - my group tried the flatbread and dip platter thing as well as the chicken shawarma, falafel, kebab, and lamb. all stunners no suckers. portions not bad the rice is amazing i'm pretty sure they cook it in some sort of stock, it's very aromatic. salad is great, i love chewing on raw green stalks like a cow 10/10 flatbread is okay, a bit doughy and not as puffy/light as i prefer. also on the sweeter side and does not seem to be made fresh to order but i personally don't care. i am here for the protein 7/10 meats were supermazingtacular! doused in flavor, tender, juicy. lamb shawarma does not have that despicable slightly irony lamb taste! that is a win in my book! chicken shawarma is awesome and kebab is very well seasoned. i think everything here is probably drowned in sumac or SOMETHING idk it is so addictive and i ate a lot 10/10 falafel is also good, soft inside, crispy outside, not grainy. great with their slightly average flatbread and hummus 9/10 SPEAKING OF HUMMUS yum!!! super smooth and refreshing. i do like their baba ghanoush more tho. dips are all great! 9/10 we also tried some desserts which...no comment (in a bad way sorry guys). i am not taking away a star because i am a nice funny person but hot damn these were sweet. at the first bite my tastebuds rolled back to diabetes. why are these so sickeningly sweet like they would taste so much better lightly sweetened. or maybe we got the wrong desserts idk...we got the coconut/pomegranate dessert, chocolate/pistachio, burma/pistachio, and the nice guy added a few of the tulumba things (i think?). all of them had amazing flavors that were overpowered by the sugar content. the burma thing was my favorite just because it was the least sweet and i suspected some cardamom which is yum 6/10 service/ambiance - service is great very efficient, lots of seating, cute rainbow umbrellas hanging upside down on the ceiling. what more could you ask for (besides more money) 10/10 anyway worth a visit but if you want dessert just ask them for their less sweet ones. or maybe don't. maybe some people want to inhale sugar and you know what...you do you girliepop!
