Went here on cinco and had a great time! There were a lot of sizes of margs on the menu but no prices listed or ounces, so it's kind of a guessing game. We just arrived in town and was hungry. We came in and was seated right away. Our server was awesome. We told her we were going to share because we didn't want left over as we were staying in a hotel. We got the single order of fajitas and a burrito she recommended that she didn't think there would be any left orders. We got our food within 15 minutes. Our fajitas were still sizzling and lokked huge. My husbands burrito looked more like an enchilada as it didn't look stuffed. As we dug into our food the fajitas was delicious but the meat was a bit overcooked. It was more well done rather than medium. My husband, though disappointed as how flat his burrito was, said that it was really good. Normally he can't finish a whole burrito but he was able to finish this one which is what we wanted so I guess the server knew it was not as filling as the other burritos they offer. This would have been a 5 star if the fajitas meat was medium and maybe the burrito looked like a burrito rather than an enchilada. With that being said, we were very happy with this place. read more

It's decent Mexican food, but prices are a little high, especially at lunch although the portions are pretty generous. I've been here a couple of times prior to when they closed during Covid shutdown and just went back for the 1st time since they reopened. I ordered the pork chile verde burrito the other day. It was pretty straight forward except the pork seemed like it was cut into chunks rather than shredded or torn like I'm used to and the salsa verde had larger pieces of chile/tomatillo in it, which I liked. Overall, it tasted pretty good and I was able to bring home a portion for a lunch this weekend. My buddy ordered the chile colorado and we both agreed it had an unusual sweetness to it, almost akin to a mole. I think I'll stick with the chile verde in the future. My other buddy who ordered the carnitas burrito said it was good and a ton of meat. read more

Reminds me of an authentic Mexican fine dining restaurant I used to work at in college in Albany New York with frogs mostly from Pueblo and Oaxaca dot-dot-dot and Guadalajara. It was nice to see some options besides the usual burrito, even though that's what I ended up getting and seafood form haha. Definitely need to come back for some of the more traditional dishes like camarones ala Diabla and huevos rancheros. I've yet to find anyone that makes a chimichanga comparable 2 my first experience at my old restaurant. I have a feeling this place might pull it off though. My homie grew up in Bend here and said that they used to serve a bean type of dip along with the table chips and salsa but we didn't see any of that and didn't have the confidence to ask about it. We were so pleased with the warm chips and salsa that came out. We also asked about a hotter salsa and she whipped up a small batch from scratch for us with a lot of red pepper in it. It was great. If I had to complain about anything it would be that when I asked for hot sauce she brought Tapatio. We all know that Cholula is the good stuff. I grabbed a bottle from the server station on my way back from the bathroom and carried on my merry way feasting. Will definitely be back. As for portion size, it was satisfying for the price. I was planning to bring half home but it was so yummy I couldn't stop eating. Plus, who wants leftover seafood burrito when you can gorge yourself on the fresh bounty instead? read more

We stopped in today because we'd never been before and they are opening a new location 15 min N of our home in La Pine. I ordered that Pollo Ala Crema and food came out fast but my tortillas had hair on them. Took me quite a long time to flag/wave the waitress down. I asked her for new Tortillas due to the hair and she just stared at me, never apologized, and just said ok. I got new barely warm raw corn tortillas. Kinda gross. She never asked how our food was or anything. I guess that tells me that if their lack luster food and service is what it is at an original location, I will NOT be going to a new location in La Pine. For $18.95 for crappy food and service, I can drive elsewhere and be ahead of the game. An expensive and sad experience for my lunch. read more

These people are amazing patriots. That being said the restaurant and service is amazing as well! We had never Been to Mazatlan restaurant before they stood up against our tyrannical governor Kgb Brown, but I'm sure glad that they did because we found this a gem! We have eaten here multiple times since going. We went in here with our two youngest children for our first time and start to finish the service was wonderful! As is most important with any Mexican restaurant you go to the chips and salsa need to be good and there's are. The chili relleno my wife had was very good. Chili rellenos are a dish we typically hinge our return on, we've been back. Its Light egg batter and plenty of queso fresco All topped with some of the best red sauce I've had in town. The enchilada I had on my combination plate was super good. Tortillas are thick and chewy and every bit of the food we had was delicious. Even the kiddos enjoyed the horchata, rice, and beans. They are pretty picky. I would encourage all of our community to get out and support this local family business! read more

My aunt recommended this restaurant as it close to her home and she really enjoys the food. Well, we really enjoyed being and eating there. First off, the chips come with salsa and refried beans- YUM! and there was a great selection of food (see menu posts from others). The employees were also really nice, but the one who looked after our table was exceptional. I believe his name was Ben, and if it wasn't, please correct me (he will know who he is by the story I tell). My family and I fall very short of knowing Spanish, so when one member said she was (I hope i do not offend anyone with this) "gringo", Ben laughed sincerely and told us a story of how that name came to be. Same family member shared a story of her own about why you eat ice cream at the end of a Mexican meal... "so when you are sitting on the toilet later, you can say, 'come on ice cream!'" Ben really enjoyed the joke, and it is told much better by said family member, and he went to kitchen and told the other workers. You could hear him laughing so hard. Needless to say we had a very good time and Ben kept us laughing, and some of us turning bright red, the entire time. Oh, by the way, the food was amazing and so fresh. The fried ice cream is definitely worth ordering as well. If I am ever back in the area, this will be one of the 1st places I go back to eat at. Service was great & it's pretty traditional inside with paintings of Mexican landscapes on the walls & large carved wooden tables/booths, however, the food is awful. This is probably the worst Mexican restaurant in central Oregon. Used to be the best! My family have been coming here since it opened. It's just gone so far downhill. Once a year we go back to see if they've changed but we will never again return. The rice is dry and crunchy, the beans taste like metal & they put way too much lard in them. Store bought chips. Zero effort put into the food and it's not fresh at all. I recommend El Rancho Grande but honestly even Taco Bell would be better than Bends Mazatlan. Redmond Mazatlan is better than this location so keep that in mind! read more

Mazatlan is a staple in the Bend community. They serve fantastic food at fair prices with excellent service! I really can't say enough good things! The restaurant is always clean and the wait staff are great. They are always, courteous, prompt, and friendly. My go to dish is the chicken enchiladas. The meat is seasoned perfectly, and there is just the right amount of cheese on top. I take my family and business contacts here for lunch and or dinner. They are equally impressed. read more

Nice Meal! What haven't we been back here in so long? That's what we asked ourselves, and yes we will be back. It had been a while for us too, but we were pleasantly surprised with out recent visit to Mazatlan on the Southside of Bend. What we loved: Quick friendly service. Good Food. Our server Sarah was from Redmond restaurant but was covering in Bend this week, and she was fabulous- friendly, professional, thorough, overall great. Oh yeah, we forgot how much we like the bean dip along with the salsa and chips! What we didn't like. Well not much. We were seated immediately, our order was taken quickly, the place had lots of people eating there and that didn't impact service at all. We had the Medium combinations for $12.50 and ordered 2 chicken enchiladas and two burritos a beef and a chicken. They also have larger meals for $15-18, and a small 1 item version of 9.50 - such a good deal. Our only comment was the enchilada sauce was thin and a tangy, okay but just different, and the beef burritos were also tangy and a little spicy, but we gobbled both them up. This is a great place to eat (on the wrong side of town) if you know what to order. The restaurant seems kind of hidden off of third Street and you may not even notice it. It's next to Richard donuts. Hands-down, the best carnitas in town. I've been here three or four times now and have been disappointed with other entrées. Ex: chicken fajitas....but I can guarantee you will enjoy the taquitos with shredded beef and/or the carnitas plater because both are a slam-dunk. We also ask for the Carnitas to be extra crispy on the outside....yum! Refried beans and rice are the real deal too. We like it hot so we also order a few fried jalapeños on the side. Next time I'm going to try the ceviche and will let you know if it's great or not. Trust me because I am from SoCal and have been exposed to some of the best Mexican food around. Sadly you will probably never find that in Bend but you will enjoy good eats here if you know what to order. The tortilla chips are better than average because they're not the super thin ones. The salsa is decent and the bean dip that accompanies is really tasty. What I would recommend as an improvement is for the margaritas to be made with fresh squeezed juices rather then overly sweet syrups. Probably won't be ordering them again! read more

DO NOT GO HERE ANYMORE. My family and I have been going to this Mazatlan for over a decade. It used to be this awesome restaurant with semi-authentic food at a great price, friendly staff, wonderful atmosphere, just all around a great restaurant. This is no longer the case. The food is now CRAP. The prices have gone up by a small but significant amount. The beans are soupy and bland. Salsa now tastes like its canned and they dumped in some hot sauce. The rice is crunchy, dry, and flavorless, almost stale. Flauntas for an app were mostly just crispy fried tortilla with a hint of some sort of meat product inside, and were nearly $10. Guacamole now tastes like it came out of a bucket. My seafood enchilada was soggy tortillas with almost no actual filling, and what little there was had no flavor or texture. Sauce was weak, cheese tasted old. Way overpriced even if it didn't taste like soggy cardboard. My wifes chicken & bean burrito was mostly tortilla with some chicken in there somewhere, again the plate loaded down with soupy beans and stale rice. Service was hard to get and when you finally got a hold of someone they were rude. We had to get our own high chair for our youngest son, so I had a nice little scavenger hunt around the restaurant. At the end of it all, after the crappy, bland, soggy food delivered EVENTUALLY by staff who then ignored you until it was time for you to pay, they REQUIRE a 15% gratuity, minimum. You cannot NOT pay at least a 15% tip. The new computer system will not let you pay anything other than 15%, 20% or 25% tip. We've been going here for nearly 15 years. We will not be going again. read more

When, oh when, am I going to find great Mexican food in Bend? It certainly wasn't last night when I went with some friends to Mazatlan. We had a pretty big group--nearly 20 women--so it was a little loud and hectic. Everyone at the table, with the exception of myself, ordered margaritas. I had a Pacifico since I don't do tequila. Anyhow, they have a small margarita or a jumbo margarita. The ladies sitting next to me enjoyed jumbo Cadillac margaritas which apparently contain grand marnier. Unfortunately, the ladies reported that the margaritas were weak. We placed our orders and were all starving, so it was great to have chips and salsa in front of us. The salsa was definitely bland, though. I like a nice, hot salsa, but this stuff was more like a grocery store brand mild salsa. It was edible, but not great. With a group of 20 people, it's often hard for restaurants to bring out all of the food at the same time. But the staff at Mazatlan did a great job getting all of our food out within a few minutes. Yay for team work! Once I dug into my plate, I was disappointed. I had ordered a cheese enchilada and a chicken taco (my old standby that I like to compare at new Mexican restaurants). However, what I found was a chicken enchilada and a ground beef taco. Normally I would have sent my plate back, but with such a large group I knew that errors were inevitable. So I went ahead and tried something different. The chicken enchilada was ok. The chicken wasn't very seasoned and there definitely wasn't as much enchilada sauce, which I'm starting to see as a trend in Bend Mexican food establishments. The taco was not good. The beef was very salty, but not at all spicey. Just kind of icky. The shell was soggy and fell apart while I went to take my first bite. I had about 3 bites and figured that was enough. The other people in my party seemed to enjoy their food. The two women across from me ordered the arroz con pollo with corn tortillas and insisted that it was delicious. Others at the table had chicken nachos and chili rellenos. I didn't hear any complaints. I was a little disappointed that our server never came back to the table to see if anyone wanted more drinks. I would have loved another beer, but our server was nowhere to be found until our checks arrived. Probably the best thing about our trip to Mazatlan was that they split the bill for us and gave us each our own ticket. This is often a rarity when dining with such a large group. So bonus points for Mazatlan there. Unless my husband was really, really wants to try Mazatlan, I don't think I'll be going there again anytime soon. This location fails to disappoint whether you're dining in or taking out. Service is prompt and attentive no matter how busy it is in there. The alcoholic beverages are consistent and so is the food. I recommend the blended watermelon margarite with a sugar rim and the seafood burrito. read more
