We ordered egg drop soup, egg roll, chicken fried rice and combination fried rice (beef,chicken, shrimp). None of the food had any flavor. The shrimp fried rice had virtually no chicken. The combination fried rice had one shrimp, two pieces of beef and a few pieces of chicken and it was a large portion. It had more than ample amount of onions. The soup had literally no flavor. The lobby was piled in boxes and the counter was behind protective glass. I will not be going back nor recommend this place. read more

Before I placed my order through EAT24/ Grubhub, I read the reviews & was sold on the Vegetarian Menu-General Tso "Faux" Chicken. All was well until the Delivery Guy called yelling for me to come outside to get my food, 1.2 hours after I placed my order. He hung up on me & called me again. I confirmed where I was & that he needed to deliver to my door. A few minutes later he was banging on my door. Once I checked the door banging, he started demanding a tip & got louder each time I said "No Thank You." Had I not been in relax & restoration mode from my month long B-Day vibes, his escort away from my door would have been less relaxed...by far. I called the store with a complaint & the woman was no better, as she excused his behavior due to him being lost. EAT24/Grubhub remove MC from your Delivery List. Like many Chinese places, this is mom and pop shop. I'm pretty particular about what I get, but it's always the same and that's what I like about they have some very good general tsao, sesame chicken and Kung Pao chicken, that's ideally what I get from here. They're fried rice is tasty too . Ignore the bad reviews Good deal and lunch specials come with egg roll or can of soda. I used to go to Spring garden, but ever since they changed location they're food not nearly as good. read more

I've written about this before and I'll say it again: There's a difference between take-out Chinese food and sit-down Chinese food. This place is GREAT for take-out. There are some places to sit inside but unless you live far away, I would suggest placing your order and getting it to go. I've only had two things on the menu and they are both fantastic. I highly recommend the General Tso's chicken with steamed rice or the boneless pork ribs (found in the apps section). The portions are plenty and the food has a great flavor. read more

The portion size is not only extremely small but today with our delivery order, we found a long black hair in our food and a tiny bug on one of the the paper plates. I ordered food from this place twice now. The first time I didn't know any better. The second time, I forgot about the shady service that I received the first time. I ordered online and had to call them to check on my delivery after an hour. The woman who answered the phone had the nerve to ask me if I was sure that I ordered from them. Never once did she ask me what I ordered. Then all of a sudden, she tells me the driver is on the way and that he needs me to meet him. All I have to say is don't offer a service if you cannot provide it in a timely fashion. All you are doing is pissing people off when they are hungry! Both times the food was late, cold, and the delivery man yells at you in another language. Why would I order delivery if I don't want you to bring it to my door? He refuses to get out of his car and comes off threatening. I will not order from them again. I cannot even speak on the food because its been cold every time. read more

This was really bad. Ordered for my mom thru Uber eats and it was so subpar, there was a lot of food but it was a lot of bad food. The Wanton soup tasted like salted water with food coloring for decoration, and the noodles were overdone. The fried shrimp was also flavorless, it wasn't super greasy but the shrimp to coating ration was like 1:3. The fries were regular fries, and the rice was just plain steamed white rice. I don't know how an expert is defined but I'm going to go ahead and call myself one. In the world of Chinese takeout, if you swallow the food and live, the place gets 3 stars. Period. End of discussion. If you order from there again at least 2 more times before even trying another restaurant, 4 stars. This shouldn't be a surprise. How many of us have stacks of duck and soy sauce packets living in our refrigerators for at least a decade? If the food was Michelin 3 star, none of us would have any packets at all. None. They're for seasoning. Eat your food with that expectation. I'm not sure what's going on with them but the customer service is atrocious. They never call and say the food has arrived they just leave the bag downstairs. When I be all to inquire I'm accused of not answering the phone and spoken to as if I'm 10 years old. Great prices on lunch specials (the usual Chinese favorites & all are less than $6.00) This is definitely not a place where you would want to eat in the restaurant (although they do have a couple of tables) . I usually get the General Tso's Chicken & the egg rolls (see photos) to go. Very good & plenty of it. I've been living in the downtown Silver Spring area for a little over a year now. Just looking for some good wings with fries and good sesame chicken or general Tso's Shrimp or chicken. This place has the best wings around, fresh oil and a decent tasting mumba sauce. Sesame Chicken and General Tso's Chicken is very good, a bit on the sweet side, but ask them to make it spicy. It balances it out. Wasn't a big fan of the General Tso's Shrimp, but hey, you have to try it. I'll order my wings and fries and other general things from here, from now on... Oh yeah... This is the same bland Chinese food carryout you can find anywhere else. My shrimp lo mein was on the dry side; my egg roll was nothing to get excited about. I thought the extra 1/2 star rating would lead me to some carryout promised land, but it really didn't. If it's convenient to your home, I guess why not. But I preferred the carry out across the street--at least they sell wine, too. Also, the staff is ridiculously rude and unprofessional, so there's that. You deserve better than this. read more

Allergic to shellfish, so I can't really speak to any dishes that include that. But I order from here through GrubHub all the time and it's usually early and quite hot, the delivery guy is nice, though not too chatty (I'm ok with that!). Some favorites include the steamed dumplings, vegetarian spring roll, sweet & sour chicken, chicken fried rice, chicken pad thai, and general tso's chicken. Used Eat24 to place my order. Almost an hour later, I go to pick it up only to find that it wasn't even ready. In fact, the order receipt was still on the table. The cashier/worker slightly smiled, and it wasn't a embarrassed/sheepish smile, either. I had to wait an additional 15-20 minutes for the order to be ready. While this was going on, all of the workers were screaming at each other, screaming into the phones, rudely servicing other customers. It was a hot ass mess. My order: shrimp basket with fries, steamed meat dumplings, 2 shrimp spring rolls. Wasn't impressed with any of them. The fries were basically the cut-style one can find in the freezer section at a grocery store. Some of the fries were still semi-cold and not done. The fried shrimps were okay but I've definitely had better. The dumplings were not that great. In fact, the so called 'meat' tasted like sausage. Actually, I really really don't wanna know what kind of 'meat' was actually in those dumplings. I wanted to try a different Chinese place around my job. Shake things up a little bit, y'know. Mayflower is your classic family-owned, neighborhood Chinese carry out, and it does exactly what you hope it will: produces consistently tasty food that's a great value. I have been ordering from Mayflower for years and the food has only gotten better. We care particularly about vegetable dishes, and theirs are always fresh and tasty. The Silver Spring restaurant scene has gotten more competitive, including the tiny strip they're in which has 3 other eateries (including competitor Spring Garden whose dining room and sushi menu are more "up market."). Mayflower doesn't pretend to do more than it does, but they do pay attention to details, e.g., they've called me back more than once to clarify an online order and make sure they get it right. Don't expect this meal to change your life, but do expect it to be DELICIOUS comfort food after a long day at work or when you want a great hot lunch but need to stay on budget. Omg just received THE WORST service ever from this place! The delivery guy called me and asked for my apartment number, I gave it to him. He calls again asking for the apartment number then asks for the street number and is screaming at me. While he's on he phone I can hear him screams to the phone through my door. He rang the bell literally 6 times. My husband was unlocking the door and he was STILL ringing the door bell. He screamed at us the entire time my husband was dealing with him. I have never in my life received this bad of service!!! This is second time somebody from mayflower has been rude! Do not go here, there are plenty of other places around here that are much more worthy of your hard earned money. That was ridiculous! .... Okay we just tried our food, it is beyond bland!! The food is actually delicious, HOWEVER, this place has a major sanitation issue! I found multiple strands of hair in my sesame chicken!... I called, and it was a simple process for them to deliver a fresh batch; I didn't want to go through the hassle of trying to get a refund. On another occasion, I found a long strand of aluminum inside of a piece of my chicken (not on top of, but cooked into the inside of my chicken!!), like the aluminum strands that make up a dish scrubber!!!! I go there quite often because it's close to my house. They have a nice variety for the lunch combination special. Their shrimp with garlic sauce is very good. The only reason why I give this place 4 out of 5 stars is because their boneless spareribs are either a hit or miss. They overcook them casuing them to be dark and hard when they're supposed to be pink and soft. I'd recommend it although the actual restaurant is a hole in the wall. read more
