Eastern is your typical carryout located on Piney branch Road, inside of a small shopping center so parking is not a problem. They have your regular typical menu items like wings and fries and lo mein. But believe it or not I go there for the grilled chicken and tostones. They are so good!!! The service is pretty quick. You'll probably get your order quicker if you call it in, but even if you order in the carryout, your order will be ready in 10 minutes or less. Now they do have a lot of seating space in there so you can sit down and eat however there's nothing much to look at because of all the construction on Piney branch Road due to the purple line. read more

Ordered several times from Eastern Carryout and it's a solid Chinese takeout spot. Favs so far: Singapore rice noodles, their soups, dumplings, and grilled chicken with fried plantains (platanos). The dumplings are made the "old school style" with the thick dough that I like, not the frozen store bought dumplings. Definitely the fried plantains (platanos) they have as a side makes them a standout. The grilled chicken is seasoned delectably. Their bubble tea is pretty decent, not high end bubble tea, but it's solid bubble tea. I'm so glad that Eastern is 8 minutes from my house in Takoma Park. It's solid Chinese American food, always good quality meats and vegetables, always well seasoned. I'm very sorry to see some people complaining about service. When I'm here, staff are friendly and smiling. They do move quickly so that can seem abrupt. When I showed up for Carryout and they couldn't provide one dish I ordered, they insisted on substituting something of greater value. Moved to the area of Takoma Park from Wisconsin and I love this place. They never disappoint! The chicken wings are always hot and fresh and the fries are always hot and fresh as well. I also love the spicy Chile they have in the little cups, but you have to ask for it. I love to order the shrimp with broccoli. It's delicious. If I could give this establishment zero stars I would!!! I can't even begin to express how rude these people are. When I called and placed my delivery order I was very rushed and was even told to "hurry up and place my order". When the driver gets here he did not come to my door I had to walk outside. Finally the food arrived which was a shrimp Lo main and when I was dumping the food on my plate a string of hair came out. Ew ! There's a number of places to eat close to my apartment but Eastern Carryout is where I wound up getting my dinner from tonight. I was famished. Starvin' like Marvin. Desperate. It was 9:30 I hadn't eaten dinner yet. I had a long ride (Metrobus/rail) home after working late in order to meet a deadline. I got off the Ride-on bus on Piney Branch Road and stumbled into Eastern Carryout. I wasn't sure what to get when I spotted my old buddy Kung Pao Chicken. I tried to fight it but deep down in my heart I knew who I'd be taking home with me tonight. I paid my $9 for KPC and his pals Fried Rice and Egg Roll. I carried the box home in both hands. It was heavy. I wasn't sure the bag would support mi amigo's weight and didn't want him to wind up as bird food. I dug in as soon as I got home. Oh, that was good. Just what I needed. The sauce was spicy and just the right consistency and I've got leftovers for tomorrow night. I can't vouch for the rest of the menu but the meal I had tonight was very good. read more

I moved to the neighborhood recently and have been ordering from various local Chinese restaurants to find a good delivery joint. I called in for delivery at Eastern Carryout and ordered a standby favorite of crispy beef for my significant other. The order took over an hour to arrive when I only live a 1/2 mile from the restaurant. When the food finally arrived, we had to reheat it in the microwave. Although reheating the food couldn't have helped its texture, the crispy beef had a mealy texture that made it seem like we were eating more fried batter than beef. I've been eating here for 7 years. The Hot and Sour soup is my favorite. Fried chicken wings and Mombo sauce is always on point and a local favorite. I was checking when they opened today for my weekly norm and am shocked there are so few reviews! Wow, unbelievable. I placed an online order at 6:25 pm and received an estimated delivery time within 50 minutes. Okay, no problem. After one hour and forty-five minutes, I am concerned and look at my phone and see that my order was canceled. I called the Eastern to try and understand why my order was canceled after waiting an hour and forty-five minutes. There was no explanation other than the person on the phone telling me, "we thought you didn't want it anymore." What? Really? When I told them I still wanted my order and asked when they would deliver, I was told it would be yet another half hour--so now 2 hours and fifteen minutes for fast food. I've been ordering from here for years and although the cashiers aren't the nicest, the lady who took my order today over the phone was absolutely rude, disrespectful, and flat out disgusting. I ordered 2 dishes and explained them separately because I know the lady's English isn't the best. I explained one plate was without rice but with fried plantains instead she explained there was an upcharge and I agreed to proceed. The 2nd one was a regular order with rice plus an additional side of fried plantains. I received only 1 side order of fried plantains. When I called to inquire about my missing fried plantains the lady told me she only charged me for 1. I told her I need the 2nd one and she mentioned there is a $12 min to deliver. When I told her this was her mistake she proceeded to talk over me. I told her that is bad customer service and I have been a customer there for years and never had this issue with anyone taking my order. She yelled at me then said "F" me. If you care about getting good customer service this is definitely NOT the place for you. The business owner needs to train their employees on proper customer service because her behavior was truly uncalled for and by some of the other reviews I've seen on here I'm not the only person they've been rude to. read more

My friend lives right by here, and I only come here for the chicken Wings and fries. I wouldn't dare taste anything else of theirs. The people I see eating here are always young kids who can sometimes be rowdy. On occasion I've also smelled urine inside this place. If you want good Chinese food, order from Golden House. My experience was awful. I was also starving and ordered a triple delight. This chinese girl (the cashier) is pretty nasty, especially with spanish speaking fellows.She does not hand things out, she drops them in the counter for you to pick them up, that goes for the receipt and extra soy sauce... ok, bad service i can live with, it's a cheap place after all. When I got the food I immediately felt a urine like smell... don't ask me about it, but I know how urine smells like, and that's what I smelled. Not chinese, not soy sauce or whatever sauce it was but a deep, pretty old (?) urine like odor in my food. I just tasted the shrimps and ran away. I mean, having a discussion about something like this with this unknown kung fu expert girl and ending up all messed up by a cashier is not somehting I would not be so proud of so, I just ran away. read more
