I have been to most cape cod beaches now. Here's the lowdown; Beach sand quality is fantastic, fine white sand with no rocks. Beach area is quite large and even bigger with the tide out. Water is clear and clean, no seaweed or rocks. Calm water. Water temp is moderate for the cape; not as warm as south cape but warmer than ptown. You seriously must get here before 9am to park. Most expensive beach parking in the cape at $25. Short walk to beach. Cell service is good. Snack shack and restrooms available. Security is very strict. An old man walks around the beach spying on people and the lifeguards are picky.... No signage at the beach and the lifeguard asked us to over a few feet to keep a path open from lifeguard station to ocean. Police constantly patrol beach on. 4 wheeler. read more

I came down to the Cape for one night as a spur-of-the-moment getaway over spring break. It was during the off season, and quite chilly, so there was no way we were going to be swimming. The beach was completely deserted. It was windy, but the sky was pretty clear and the beach was just gorgeous. I'd love to come back during the season and go swimming. It was a spectacular view and a great place to relax. read more

Best beach I know on the cape. Perfect in high and low tide, very clean white sand, very smooth entrance (great for kids). No rocks, seashells or seaweed. Only disliked the bathrooms (were all in water and sand, but hopefully it's not always). Overall this is my best choice of the beach here. Wait, did i mention the warm water? Oh yes, great place :) read more

Mayflower Beach - Perfect day on the beach - Beaches Near Me - Dennis, Massachusetts

This is one of my favorite beach in the Cape. I spend the whole day here with my niece and nephew on a constant basis. The beach is very family-friendly! The sand are very smooth, there's tons to do here - was along the beach, find some hermit crabs and snails, and sometimes you can find clams and crabs. You'll have to return them to the ocean, but it's great to see all of these up close! Highly recommend this place. Just remember, get here before 9am on the weekends will guarantee you a parking space - $30 cash on weekends and $25 cash on weekdays. read more

Hands down the most beautiful beach on the Cape. Looks like you are in the Caribbean. Low tide is great for little ones - you can walk so far out an explore tidal pools and set up on a sand bar. High tide makes the beach a bit crowded but the soft as powder sand and beautiful water makes it worth it. My children love to explore during low tide and "ride the waves" as the tide comes in. Snack shack is great in case you need lunch or an ice cream. Food is OK but nothing over the top. Frozen lemonade ($6) is expensive but soooo good on a hot day. Bathrooms and showers to wash the sand off are nice to have. You have to get there early (9-9:30am) to get a spot during high season but people come/go in shifts so if you are not an early bird, wait and go after 2pm and stay through sunset. Parking is $$ - we have a resident sticker so not an issue for us but it is $25 per day otherwise. Sunsets....breathtaking. Nothing like sunset at Mayflower. Order pizza to be delivered to the beach and take it all in. One of my favorite places on earth. read more

The beach is very nice and Sandy! It is suggested that you wear flip-flops because you could burn your feet from the sand being hot some days. We must've waited in line for an hour for a parking space. We only stayed like 3 hours. It was $25 for a parking space. Got a nice tan. There is a bathroom and a food stand nearby. Lifeguards were on duty read more

Perfect Beach. Just perfect. Warm water with tons of sand dollars when tide goes out at dusk

This beach always has the best sunset view and is the go-to spot throughout the summer. It is my favorite. I haven't gone into the water in quite some time but I hope to soon, maybe I'll update this review then. Don't worry, I know how to swim though. Sand is nice and the beach is almost always clean. If you're in town, go here first! read more

Back again for one of the best beaches in America. A huge tidal flat - which is wonderful to explore at low tide. Love everything about it - and they have a snack "shack" and bathrooms. read more

Best beach ever! Clean! Low tide is amazing with the sand dunes and crystal clear water. Great place to bring young children.

This used to be a premier family beach however over the years, due to its popularity, had drawn way too many people often being dropped of in buses. Large tents encompass the beach with very large crowds, loud music and alcohol. The beach is beautiful at low tide however at high tide, due to the crowds it looses its ambiance. read more

What a beautiful beach for all ages! Parking is tough if you don't arrive by 9am. After 2pm parking gets better. They have clean bathrooms and a snack shack for food and drinks to purchase. read more

Mayflower Beach - The beach sand ripples that are left after low tide. - Beaches Near Me - Dennis, Massachusetts

Beautiful beach, but just say no to wishing you might get a spot on a holiday weekend or any weekend in general. Their parking is severely limited and there's no nearby parking spots nearby to pay for parking unless you're up for walking over 2 miles to the beach. They have a "wait line" but after 6 cars line up, the wait line is full and they tell you to get lost(in a nice way of course) But once you're in, it's a beautiful beach!! read more

Love this beach! Clean water. Soft sand. We love how it has a sandbar and rippled sea floor. Feels like memory foam! lol Has the concession stand and bathrooms. We absolutely love it here read more

If you are visiting the Cape, please save yourself a headache and visit some other beach. Or better yet, come in the late afternoon when the crowd thins out. This beach has made some top 10 list and now every tourist in the world has it on their bucket list. Yes, it has bathrooms (dirty) and a snack shack (sub par). Yes, its sand is some of the best around and when low tide is timed just right, there is lots of space for the multitude of tourists that frequent this beach. BUT: The parking lot is huge so it's insanely crowded. Oh, and forget about getting parking in season unless you are there by 9AM. If high tide is mid-day, a thousand people will pack into the receding shoreline making you feel like you are on the subway at rush hour in Tokyo. The critter hunting is pathetic and limited to hermit crabs and the occasional minnow. People think it's okay to play lacrosse, baseball and other games, even when they are packed in too tight. The water is cold (the Bay side is always colder than the Sound side), unless you are in a tidal pool. Tip: Parking is $25 weekend/$20 weekday. But, that pass is good at all Dennis Beaches. Try a different beach for the morning, go home for lunch and go to Mayflower in the afternoon when the crowd has thinned. read more

Over crowded no parking on most days. South side beaches easier to access and very nice! Also, many days very rocky. Hard to navigate getting in and out of the water. High tide there is hardly any beach. read more

Ok, low season or low tide, this is a lovely beach...high season high tide, forget it..seriously, go to West Dennis or Sea Street Beach for a better beach experience unless you love the masses, blanket on blanket. read more

On my weekend getaway with my friends, we found this gem! It was down the road from Bayview (Residential Beach). The Mayflower Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in this areas. I'd definitely return here rather than South St. beaches. Mayflower is part of the so-called "monopoly" of the beaches in the area. Which means it is $20 per car for parking. If you could, try to be dropped off to avoid the lines and the fees to park. As for the beach, there are ample amount of sand (both soft and hard). I found the beach and the water to be very clean. No garbage running around on the ground. Also, the snack bars serve a variety of food in case you get hungry tanning on the beach! read more

HERE ARE ALL THE ANSWERS TO YOUR MAYFLOWER QUESTIONS This beach will forever and always be my all time favorite. I have been going here since I was a child, the beach itself is amazing! The atmosphere and the cleanliness of the beach are undeniably great and really helpful after spending hours in the scorching sun. Parking and Prices - This beach is great, but the parking lot does fill up very quickly. If you want to get into the beach, leave early, and when I say early, I mean EARLY. Traffic tends to be backed up all the way down Beach Street! The beach tends to open around 7 or 8 AM and closes around 5 or 6 PM. Around 3 pm most of the parking lot has emptied out and you should be able to get in and get a great parking spot. Despite this, the wait is very much worth it. There will sometimes be signs saying that the lot is full that are posted later in the day, do NOT listen to those signs. They are left out throughout the day. Prices tend to be on the higher end because this beach is a lot nicer than others. On weekends and holidays the price is a whopping $30, any other day it is $25. You can purchase a sticker for this beach! It is $75 for a weekly parking fee and as for residents of the beautiful town of Dennis, $40 for a season pass. Parking lots are very hot and sandy with little pebbles, do wear shoes!!! FOOD AND BATHROOMS - I am a person who NEEDS to shower before I leave the beach, this beach disappointed me in that aspect. They have two shower poles set up outside the bathrooms, along with a porta-potty aside them. These shower poles are the ones where you have to press and hold unfortunately (ugh, manual work) but they do give off cold water that gets the job done! Bathrooms are quite nasty. Sticky sand filled floors, doors that don't close fully and a nasty fish stench but, a toilet is a toilet. Paper towels and soap are thankfully provided. THE SNACK SHACK!!! Is a MAJOR rip off my friends, they have an assortment of food ranging from prices no lower than $10. They offer coffee, hot coca, Panera Bread drinks (weird, would not get), Lemonade, Water, Soda and much more! Along with an assortment of ice creams and popsicles. The wait time tends to be long, they have picnic tables and umbrellas. They also sell beach toys and tools there for rip off prices as well, if you're interested! You are welcome to bring your own food and cooler, coolers are now checked as walking into the beach for alcohol. This beach has never ever been a fan of alcohol and will take your drinks and dump them if they are found! THE BEACH ITSELF - AAAAAMAZINGGG! This beach is beautiful, high tide, low tide, any time! The beaches have boardwalks leading down to the beach and cones to guide afterwards. There are lifeguards on duty until the beach closes. If you walk down the beach far enough on the left side you will end up on Chapin Beach! Chapin is slightly grassy, with some crabs but other than that it is worth the walk! Mayflower has the softest sand with a few rocks, but there are several paths cleared! I have seen several weddings and photoshoots held at this beach, the sunsets are ALWAYS beautiful! Things to do nearby - Chapin's Restaurant has amazing food and a very nice bar to sit at, it is great for families after a day at the beach! The Ice Cream Smuggler is an amazing ice cream parlor with several different flavors, sundaes, and frappes. Captain Frosty's is an amazing restaurant as well, best fish and chips around! They have ice cream as well, soft serve, a wonderful, small but cute atmosphere. Grumpy's restaurant is great for breakfast, the line is always out the door! The pancakes and french toast are to die for!! The Cape Cod Creamery is an affordable ice cream parlor, you are smacked right in the face with the smell of their scrumptious waffle cones! I hope you enjoyed this review, there is more to come. Please pay this beach a visit. It is VERY worth it! read more

Beautiful white sand beach, no rocks which is always a major plus in my book. As others have mentioned, when the tide goes out you have to walk out pretty far to swim but it's so worth it. Cons are parking lot fills up quickly so come super early. We went the week of July 4th and the three times we tried we were turned away. Good thing is you can go to another Dennis beach, get a parking pass, and come back later in the day to Mayflower for one admission fee. read more

Mayflower is my favorite beach on Cape Cod. It's a very long white sand beach. Even when it's busy, you don't feel like people are sitting on top of each other. There is enough space for everyone. The beach has very decent amenities as well. Mayflower Beach is great for relaxing, tanning, swimming and taking pictures of the sand dunes or the ocean. Great beach! read more

I experienced Mayflower Beach for the first time last week on a Monday. I wasnt too worried it would be busy seeing as it was a week day, but it did get pretty crowded. We arrived at the beach around 11a.m. and the parking lot was pretty full, which I would have expected on a weekend. Also, $20 to park kinda bummed us out but oh well. The parking lot has people directing you where to park so you didnt hav to search for a spot which was nice. The beach itself seems to get pretty packed, but I can see if I had children it would be the perfect beach to go to with the sand bars offering up lots of places for them to frolick in. Has a snack bar, with a long line, but available nonetheless. Bathrooms were pretty gross with trash open next to toilets for all to see. Quiet waters make for nice safe swimming and lifeguards all around. read more

This used to be the best beach on the cape. Not any more. Although still beautiful- now it costs $30 per car. Also- they are so strict about alcohol now they search everyone, and everyone's gear on the way in. Not only that, police with guns in holsters will be looking at everyone on the beach intent on catching someone doing something. Way over the top. Last I checked this was America. Apparently, some teenagers acted stupid last year so we all have to pay the price. It also seems to me it encourages people drinking in their cars. At the snack bar it cost $43 for mozzarella sticks, chicken and fries with two lemonades. Won't be back. Too bad- this was my favorite beach. read more

A beautiful beach - but so hard to get a parking spot in the summer. Love it in the off season for a nice fall walk

Very very very nice beach. The areas near the sand dunes were extremely beautiful and WARM. The water was not cold compared to Long Island

I love Mayflower Beach! I grew up on that beach and it's a great place for children, with calm waves and tides pools filled with critters! The tide goes out a 1/4 of a mile, leaving plenty of space for seating during low tide, but it can get pretty crowded when the tide comes in, and everyone is forced onto the dry sand. The water can be pretty cold, so the best time to go is in August, when the ocean is warmest! Be sure to bring your own food because the snack shop sells out fast. Parking is $20, and the lot is full at 9 am. I'll definitely be back soon! read more

This beach is beyond beautiful. We loved going first thing in the morning and staying until mid-afternoon when the tide came in. The bathrooms are good and clean. The snack bar is expensive and not worth it for the quality of food, so I would recommend bringing a cooler. We for sure will go back again. read more

Great beach for kids. If you want to avoid waiting in a line to park, u need to go early or after 3 pm. If u like waves, that's not your beach then. read more

Low tide is super sick, no not like covid sick but like amazing. The beach is loaded with people so you must arrive early on a weekend. The parking is $25 and there seems to be some restrictions on the number of cars. That halt on vehicles doesn't stop the beach from being a popular tourist destination. The food at the restaurant located just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the beach is fresh! There's nothing else to really highlight the flavor of the fish was minimal I suppose the point is to taste the freshness of it. I want to point out the sand flies. At several beaches along the cape there are these huge sand flies that bite. Well this beach didn't seem to have those there so I was thrilled to be here. Those bad boys hurt worse than mosquito bites. Bring a cooler, and an umbrella because it's an all day thing. Don't drink from the can/ bottle, use cups because there are people on patrol here so be discreet when enjoying adult beverages. read more

WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE!! $20 To park and people pack in. We arrived at 9:00am when the tide was still out a little creating cool tide pools not too many people. By 10:00am we had people literally setting up chairs behind, in front and on each side of us with only inches separating us. The whole beach was like that by 11:00am and it was a cloudy day!!! No room to move, too loud to relax. read more

Greatest beach on Cape Cod! Wonderful 4th of July fireworks!

Amazing beach! Powder sand, beautiful clean water. Great family beach as you can walk out 1/2 mile at low tide and the water is still only up to your knees. Sand bars appear during low tide which are always fun to walk out to. Snack bar serves some great food for a concession stand. Very friendly staff. Price is $20 during the week, $25 on the weekends but well worth the money to stay all day! read more

I was on a business trip to The Cape last month (Sept. 2012). While it was business, I did have some time to explore. I have a love for beaches! Mayflower Beach was my favorite. The weather was perfect Cape Cod September, a light breeze, sunny and a bit cool. I laid down my blanket and took a much needed nap to the sound of the waves. This beach has powdery sand, clean water with little seaweed and interesting shells. The only problem may be in season with parking. There didn't seem to be much for such a fantastic beach. read more
