    Sand bars at low tide
    Alissa D.

If you are looking for a beautiful beach to watch the sunset, look no further. We've come in June before when the tide is low and the sun sets late. You can walk so far on the sand bars, truly a unique experience.

Nice, but small beach. There appears to be a snack bar, but it was closed when I visited in the middle of September. One of the really nice things is that they have actual restrooms and showers on premise. It's not pleasant to have to use a port-a-potty at the beach. This seems to be a nice beach to take kids to, especially since they have lifeguards in the in season. I liked that they had a few benches to sit on near the water. The daily parking fee for non-residents is $20, ouch. There are better beaches on the Cape, but this one would do in a pinch.

Right before the sunset. Awe-inspiring experience!

Was on the Cape for a weekend getaway right before the close of peak summer season. We visited all the national beaches and this little gem on our trip. This was our favorite beach on our visit. We came for the sunset. Beach was free after 6PM with ample parking space. What an awe-inspiring experience. We followed the edge of the tide as it was settling down. It felt like we were walking into the sunset. Pink, orange, red, yellow. The sky felt alive. The warm calm water was very pleasant. As the sun was setting, we caught the moon rising quickly behind us. As the moon rose and the sun set, the tides grew and we quickly rushed to the shores as the water levels rose. The small tidal pools were full of life: small shrimp like creatures, little hermit crabs, small fish. The experience was astrophysical and almost spiritual. Hope this review can help guide you to a similar experience.

Best sunset spot on the cape! Went during low tide and was so great. Lots of dogs chasing each other in the water. Soft sand and beautiful views. Must come back next summer during the warmer months in the afternoon for some real beach time.

Gorgeous, clean Beach. Only downfall is the showers are broken and the parking is 20$/day. If you're close enough (within 5 miles) its best to Uber.

My favorite go to, off season walking spot, in the off season. Nauset is also lovely, but the sand there is much deeper, and a hard slog.

Skaket is my favorite beach. Nauset suffered the wrath of the Four Easter... But it still has the over deep sand that makes getting to a towel spot painful on the knees. Skaket is lovely, and walkable. Low tide is awesome. But I also tend to avoid it in season. Unbelievable in early fall.

Nice beach with the view of the inner cape cod beach. This seems like a local beach with many surrounding houses and people seem to just walk out the backdoor to this nice area. Pay to park but free during sunset hours. This is a great beach as you can walk out at least 30 feet and the water will still be ankle high. The sunset at this beach is beautiful.

*parking pass from any other Orleans town beach with the same date is accepted. I would pick this over the ocean any day, especially if you have kids, don't like waves, or prefer warmer waters. The beach itself is small during high tide, but it stretches out miles in either direction during low tide. At these times, have fun looking at all the critters, splashing in the tidal pools, or running and admiring the scenery. There is a good shack, bathrooms, and outdoor washing station.

They charged $32.50 to park (2 summers ago it was $20) and no services were open. Not even a trash can. Don't waste your money!

This is a nice off-the-beaten path beach to avoid the crowds on the Cape.

Such an amazing place. A must see on cape cod. When the tide is out you can walk forever. Very cool.

Go when there is high tide. Pretty clean, nice/decent for the east coast but did not meet expectations.

Go when the tide is going out and you can explore everything left behind on the ocean floor, or come back when the tide is coming in. Watching the water return at the speed it does is a really unique experience. You can check the tide schedule online. We went on a relatively mild, overcast day. The water was cold but not freezing. I imagine on a hot summer day it probably warms up quite a bit since it's so shallow. This was an incredible experience for both of my kids. My one year old loved splashing around in all the little pools the tide left behind. My six year old was completely fascinated watching the tide come rushing back in. None of us were expecting it to be as dramatic as it was. The overall vibe here was great too. People seemed friendly and relaxed, and we enjoyed the atmosphere much more than some of the beaches we visited around Newport the week before.

We have a 4 year old & 1.5 year old, both beach bums. I researched which Cape beach to go to for…read morehours. Mayflower Beach seemed great but I read there was a lot of seaweed. Coast Guard Beach seemed great also except for the fact that we would have to park and then take a shuttle to the shore. We decided on this beach, which seems to have the same feel as Coast Guard. We got there at about 945am on a Tuesday morning in August. There were only a handful of parking spots left at The Beachcomber. Parking was $30 but we got a voucher to use toward food or souvenirs from The Beachcomber (the food and mixed drinks there were very good). The beach is accessible by a pathway on a sand dune that is tall and steep. Going down was easy. Going back up required a few rest stops for me. I'm pregnant and I was carrying our 1.5 year old. It probably would've been easier for me had I not been pregnant but this is definitely not a trek for anyone with physical limitations. My 4 year old went up and down twice but her legs were really burning the 2nd time going up. This is one of the best beaches I've ever been to. Sapphire water and soft sand. Quiet crowd and limited cell service, which added to the relaxation. The shore is a little rocky but doable without water shoes. Once you walk into the water a few feet from the shore the rocks give way to soft sand. The water was cold. I almost felt like I was taking an ice bath. But it felt great once I got acclimated and really helped me cool down in the 85 degree weather. It was a really special experience and so picturesque. One important note: there is a danger of sharks because of the booming seal population. We saw seals in the early afternoon swimming playfully about 20 feet from shore. Some locals will not get in the water if they spot seals-- that means sharks could be nearby. There were lifeguards on duty and also a shark patrol boat along the coast but it's still a little scary! The current got very strong in the early afternoon. I'm used to the crashing waves at the Atlantic beaches in NY and this undertow concerned even me.

This beach is such a peaceful spot and very relaxing. I grew up and spent most of my life on the east coast, but since moving to California, I have visited many of the notable beaches between San Diego and San Francisco. With that said, Cahoon Hollow is still one of my favorite beaches in the United States. I have generally visited Cahoon Hollow in May-June or September-October when parking is usually free and the beaches are not very crowded. I recommend trying to visit at those times. This is another GREAT beach for sitting on and spending the day OR for taking a nice long stroll. You could walk for miles. I recommend packing a lunch, snacks and beverages. There are 2 negatives to this beach: 1. Parking is pricey in the summer. 2. It's a VERY steep walk to get down to the beach. **Lecount Hollow is another equally stunning beach that is located right next to Cahoon Hollow.**

It was a nice walk, altho for the 1st half it was wooded and the ground a bit dirty so i should have worn sneakers vs flip flops. The later part is paved and a boardwalk which was pretty. We took the trolley back and it was fast and easy. There are bathrooms at the main parking area as well as at the closest beach parking (resident only). Bathroom was clean and was being cleaned while we were there. The beach is huge especially at low tide. The surf was rough with endless seals swimming by and a shark flag waving. Water a bit cold. We walked 1 mile south during low tide and enjoyed all the tide pools and different shapes created in the sand by the water. We also walked a half mile north and it is very quiet except for the spot next to the entrance. Peaceful and reminded us of being on an island as it was so quiet with not many people around, and unique scenery. Bring your own everything as there is no snack shack.
