Amazing. This place was just awesome. Even on a cold fall day. The pictures don't do it justice.

We LOVED Cahoon Hollow Beach! We are from the South & these beaches reminded us most of the Florida coastline with their sandy beaches & gorgeous water. Seals swam up & down the coast making our time even more special. The atmosphere was relaxing & the trek up the sand dune wasn't too bad at all. The Beachcomber was the perfect spot for lunch & we were able to use our $20 parking coupon, which was a bonus!

The treacherous, steep path to the beach.

There aren't very shallow areas for the toddlers like there are at some of the other DCR pools, such as Connors Memorial Pool in Waltham, which probably helps to keep the crowds down. But the pool is very spacious and has enough space both for lap swimmers and kids playing. The spray deck just outside is great for the younger kids, too.

It's a year later and they've done extensive updates to the pool location. 1. There's now an ADA regulation ramp with rails going into the pool for those in wheelchairs or who have trouble walking. 2. They added easier steps and hand rails for children and families to enter at the opposite end (long stairs that slope gently instead of ladder style.) 3. They have added permanent shade awnings around the pool, along with wooden benches underneath them (definitely still try to come early because those get snapped up quickly.) 4. The changing rooms are the same, but entering the locker rooms, there is now almost a rubberized "curtain" of small strips to walk through that creates privacy. Previously anyone walking by in the main corridor could see directly in. 5. The splash pad/fountain area has awnings and benches around it, and is ADA accessible. As of summer of 2023, the pool is open 7 days a week from 11:15AM-6:00PM. The changes have greatly improved the property, and it's a place where you can come and stay all day instead of roasting on hot concrete. They also have water fountains and outdoor showers along the pool deck for getting a quick drink and rinsing off.

Entry is $2 for adults, or you can pay $40 for a season pass. The parking lot is small, but there's additional parking at Dilboy stadium a short walk away. No food or drink allowed (besides water of course) which is a bummer, but makes sense for health and cleanliness issues. A few other reviewers thought the pool was dirty, but I haven't found that to be true. The locker rooms/bathrooms are a little rough, but it's an old community pool, what do you expect? It's pretty packed with kids so this is not the place to come for peace and quiet. Regardless, this will be a regular haunt of mine this summer for sure!

There is TONS of parking, some of it a bit down the street, but all free. 3. Also - there is a wheel chair ramp. This place is awesome because its quite clean (the pool, perhaps not the bathrooms, but they suffice) and theres space for everyone. You have to bring your own chairs/towels to sit on as they don't have them, but they DO have children's life vests for kids that may not own one (and can't swim yet). Shout out to the pool for being massive. I love this place!

After coming here for the past few weeks, I feel it's time to leave a review. I've lived within…read morewalking distance for four years, but never visited the pool despite LOVING swimming and HATING sitting around my apartment in the summer heat. First of all, my review is not comparing it to some fancy rooftop pool downtown with bottle service. I am reviewing this pool for what it is - a free, state-run pool in Brighton. That said, this pool is a gem. Parking lot if you're from elsewhere, or on-street parking for Allston/Brighton residents. The locker rooms and bathrooms are what you would expect from a public facility. The water is clean, though I haven't swum down to the surface with goggles to check the filters/bottom. As someone else said, there is a bit of hair in the pool that kind of gets tangled in your hands every so often. Hair is one thing that grosses me out but I don't wear a swim cap so don't expect anyone else to. If you're here to swim laps, you're not going to have the best time or the most effective workout, because while there are lines painted on the bottom, there are no lane markers and no lane enforcement. There's also no adults only or lap swim time, which apparently there used to be. It's on 5 feet in the deep end, which is one whole half of the pool, so at least that area tends to be free of small children and even most kids. Bring your own chair, umbrella, snacks, Bluetooth speaker, cooler of food, friends from out of town or abroad. I only ever hear the lifeguards blow their whistles when someone is running on the deck or swims behind the ladders. The hours are kind of tough for anyone who has a regular 9-5 job and it's a bummer that they're only open during school summer vacation, but it's free and that makes it pretty hard to find anything to truly complain about. There is a handicapped lift in/out of the pool but there is no outdoor shower, so the signs telling you that you must shower before entering the pool are kind of pointless, because no one does.

This review is based on my personal experience at Marconi Beach on June 24, 2025…read more Marconi Beach is part of the Cape Cod National Seashore. It's more secluded and less crowded than most other beaches in the area. There's a large parking lot near the beach access trail, but a daily or annual pass is required. Honestly, why the hell not?…read more During a very brief day trip to the Cape, we were looking to see a particular lighthouse (Nauset) and to see some big ass coastal bluffs which after twenty seconds of research made Marconi an easy choice. Below is a bit of NPS info on what to expect when visiting and a smidge about the history of the area. www.nps.gov/caco/planyourvisit/marconi-beach.htm www.nps.gov/places/marconi-beach.htm A nice winding drive in through the pine barrens which opens up to a massive parking lot. It truly must be a hell scape in season, but when you're visiting in early April and it's in the low 40s with a barking wind, even on a Saturday, there were only four other cars. We got the views we were looking for and poached a few shells/rocks for some mementos. While the visit was brief (25ish minutes - too crazy cold to make it any longer) it is indeed beautiful here and worth making a visit. (It's also worth mentioning the Captain Obvious that in the offseason you are able to avoid those pesky NPS entrance fees but if you need to use the loo, it ain't happening here since all of that is closed and of course there are no lifeguards, so watch out for Jaws.)
