Oh. My. God. I was actually speechless at how good this bbq spot was. I don't care what anyone else says, this place has the best bbq in California. I frequent Texas a lot since I have family over there, so I know good bbq and this is it. We came here thinking it would probably be good for California, but it was honestly some of the best bbq I've ever had. We ordered pulled pork, moist brisket, and sweet corn, and it was all sooooo delicious. Their bbq sauce was to DIE for. I'm the kind of person who has bought bottles of bbq sauce from Texas back to Cali, and if this restaurant sold bbq sauce, I would gladly go out of my way to go buy bottles of it. The service was amazing as well. We met the owners, a lovely couple from Texas who gave us a bit of their backstory, and I really enjoyed getting to know them a little bit. They were amazingly friendly, and continuously brought us samples of food, including their banana creme custard, Oreo custard, and their brisket beans. Trust me, the custard is something you don't want to miss out on. I don't even like banana but I devoured that thing up. Unfortunately, there was so much food that we couldn't finish, so I took some leftovers for my sister. And even as leftovers, my sister was left speechless and said it was in the top 3 bbq spots we have ever been to. There were no cons to speak of. My only wish is that they had some more options for sides; maybe mashed potato or Mac and cheese would've gone well with the bbq as well. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL BUSINESS!! Yummy!!! The real deal Texas BBQ, in SoCal of all places. Hard to find authentic Texas BBQ in these parts, but I believe Maybells has hit a homerun. Friendly service from the time you walk in until you leave and the food is amazing. We ordered the 2- Meat Plate special of brisket and ribs. Oh my goodness, brisket is fork tender, moist, juicy and tasty and the ribs are fall off the bone, finger licking good. And surprise, surprise, homemade pickles along with 2 slices of white bread, potato salad, and two awesome sauces (sweet and tangy). Definitely a place we will be returning to on a regular basis and always a pleasure to support local businesses. Give Maybells a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

I had a party with the whole family on Tuesday and ordered Maybell BBQ because Calhoun's BBQ was closed that day. I ordered everything from Maybells: brisket, ribs, corn, beans, coleslaw, etc. EVERYONE who ate the food that day raved about the food. It was absolutely delicious and even better than any other BBQ I've tried, and I am not just saying that. I highly recommend Maybells BBQ to anyone who loves great BBQ. Also, the lady (sorry, I forgot her name) who took the order was fantastic! She made sure the order was ready and kept warm and included all the fixings, bread, extra BBQ sauce, utensils, etc. GREAT SERVICE! read more

Wow this is my pick for best BBQ from Lake Elsinore to Temecula and all of 'em in between (and I have had them all). Full slab of ribs were amazing and some of the most tender and meaty ribs ever. Burnt ends had the most amazing bark and were still super tender. The brisket was also so tender that you barely had to touch it to pull it apart. The BBQ sauce is a tad bit spicy, but I love it spicier instead of too sweet. Brisket beans were good, smoky and saucy. Would more than recommend this place every day! And will definitely be back. The couple that runs it were super sweet and friendly. If you are on the fence, don't hesitate! Go! You will not regret it and it will be your favorite soon too. read more

Wow. Ever since our son moved to Texas we have been hooked on Texas style BBQ. From the moment my wife and I walked into this establishment, it immediately reminds you of being in Texas. The smell is amazing and smacks you right in the face as soon as you open the door. The customer service was amazing. I had a ton of questions and the lady was so nice and answered all my questions. Now let's get to the food.... Brisket is delicious, beautiful smoke ring. Baby back ribs are fall off the bone and full of flavor. Brisket sandwich is on a fresh brioche bun, pickles are perfect contrast to the homemade delicious BBQ sauce. The Mac n cheese has something in it, maybe Parmesan cheese but it has a unique flavor differentiating it from any other Mac we have had. The baked beans were also delicious packed full with brisket. Haven't been able to try the homemade chocolate pudding as we are too stuffed. I'll have to update later. Give this place a try. They deserve it. Overall 9/10. Got a full pound of their brisket. No sides, just the meat and a can of soda. What can I say, the brisket was so tender that the slices would barely stay in one piece as I forked it up to eat it. Their barbecue sauce is good and is tomato based and is not too sweet like the typical commercial flavor is. The meat was also not too smoky which is good. I'd come back to try their other stuff if I'm in the area. The menu is pretty simple and not crazy, which is a good thing. Definitely a must try read more

I dont mean to sound like a bbq snob or anything, but I've had quite a bit of bbq all over country and my husband and I also do quite a bit of smoking, so I'd like to think I know good bbq. This place stacks up FOR SURE. Everything was delicious. The brisket is easily some of the best I've ever had. The ribs fell off the bone while still having some bite to it. The baked beans and potato salad were also really fn good. The woman who took out order (maybe the owner? I'm not sure) was sooo friendly. Will absolutely be back!! read more

The real deal right here. This is on par with Texas BBQ. The service was great. The lady, who I believe may be the owner is so nice and down to earth. I called in an order for Father's Day and she was so accommodating and sweet. Picked up, same genuine personality. Food was absolutely amazing. I picked it up early and had to reheat in the oven (with water in a little dish, as recommended), and it still tasted great. Super moist and flavorful. Even next day microwaved food was so good. I am not a huge bbq fan in general, however this has me wanting to order again soon. The sauce on the side is probably why I loved it so much. Because you can taste the meat and add sauce to your liking. The corn was so sweet, baked beans were delicious, and that banana pudding was heavenly. The pickles weren't my favorite and the potato salad was okay. Next time we will try their other sides. Looking forward to our next visit. Already recommended this place to others and we have plans to order for 4th of July if we order early enough. read more

That was absolutely the worse bbq I've ever had!!! The brisket was over cooked the Mac was just plain nasty and the beans to much liquid went all over the Mac in the bag what a mess! I used to live in Austin TX, and one of the things I really miss about living there was the barbeque. You just can't find good Texas-style barbeque in California, but this place comes awfully close. You know it's going to be good when you step out of your car and can smell the smoke from the parking lot. The big winner here are the pork ribs. They fall off the bone and have the perfect amount of flavor. The brisket is also good. Is it as good as what you can get at the best spots in Texas? No, but better than anything else you can find over here, by a long shot. But the other bright spot is the service. The owners go out of their way to accommodate you, and every time I come in I feel like a welcomed guest in somebody's home. The hospitality really shines through and pushes this place to five-star status in my opinion. I never thought I'd find a barbeque place here in California that's good enough to make me want to crave it from time to time, but Maybells fits the bill. read more

Very good brisket and Mac n cheese! I'd give it 5 stars but didn't care for service. They close inside dining at 7pm while restaurant actually closes at 8pm. I ended up just ordering one plate instead of 3 so I can eat at taco shop next door who does allow inside dining until closing. I could have spent $80, but ended up only buying a $17 plate. read more

SO GOOD! I forgot to take pics, and now the food is gone! We got brisket and pulled pork. They were both so tender and were smoked so well. The spicy bbq sauce has great flavor, and not overwhelmingly spicy. The sides that we got (potato salad, mac n cheese, baked beans) were all great. Stopped by yesterday to pick up dinner. Customer service was amazing, we ordered to go and they had an area with kids toys and seating which was perfect for my toddler while we waited (also great reason to return and dine in since we typically avoid that with a toddler). I always see this place. Closed at times... because they sell out. Today we found it open and we tried everything. It was SO DELICIOUS. 100% better than Phil's bbq. Recommend it for sure . I only had a little left over and for sure taking it home to eat it later read more

Oh I'm sorry did you say something? Because I couldn't hear you over the sound of the angels singing the song of heavenly BBQ into my mouth.. One man spoke in his review of Baby Jesus making his sandwich, I was skeptical, all these reviews couldn't be true.... But.... No truer words have been spoken The brisket.... well they give you cheap plastic utensils because lord knows you don't need them. The side of my fork cut through that damn brisket like butter and I about fainted. I've never in my life enjoyed baked beans... not once... I'm sure glad they gave me a small side to try, cuz I'm about ready to pack my bags and move to the south if that's the kind of beans they be serving down there. And what on earth is this custard? Well I'll be waking up in the middle of the night probably from dreaming of thick chocolate pudding so thanks for that Maybell... These owners know how to bring the South to SoCal. Pretty nice little place! We were there on a Saturday afternoon and they are already sold out of the Back Ribs. So the next best thing is the beef brisket and pulled pork. We shared the the 2 meats dinner plate with brisket baked beans and potato salad! Everything was soooooo good. The BBQ sauce was warm so that's even better! Are the sausage links made of beef? My hubby was born and raised in San Antonio & claims true Texas BBQ carries beef links. Rudy's BBQ set the bar high.

I don't know what they're made of, but the sausage is very good here. Everything I have had here has been very good, and I lived in Texas for 10 years and tried lots of BBQ there. By far the best BBQ in the Murrieta/Temecula area.

The brisket arrived dry and slightly oxidized-looking, with only two slices included. The ribs were overdone and mostly from the cartilage-heavy end of the rack. Flavor overall was decent, but nowhere near memorable. The mac and cheese was bland, the beans were okay, and even the pickles had an odd chemical taste to them. The service was genuinely great, which was the highlight of the experience, but at around $48 for the combo plate, the food quality just didn't justify the cost. For comparison, Heritage BBQ in San Juan Capistrano is in an entirely different league when it comes to quality and execution. This place felt much more geared toward tourists than serious BBQ fans.

Unfortunately, one star off for the service. We have come to expect the high caliber of service offered from Robin & Francesca from past visits. Our server Jessica was nice enough but not very attentive. We had to keep asking for our drinks to be refilled although it was very obvious that our glasses were empty. And there weren't a lot of people there. So our server really missed the mark. Thankfully, the food is consistently outstanding and mediocre service won't dissuade us from returning.
