My recent residential move with Maya Van Lines resulted in thousands of dollars in damaged, broken, and missing personal belongings. Multiple pieces of furniture arrived broken, several items were damaged beyond repair, and others listed on the official inventory simply went missing. I specifically requested full face value insurance coverage when booking the move. During the paperwork process, the project manager was sly and unprofessional and failed to sign the insurance form copy he gave me. This raised serious concerns later when I attempted to file a claim. After the move, Maya Van Lines was unresponsive and unhelpful, and their claims administrator, Moving Claims Co, offered no real assistance or accountability. No clear explanation was ever provided for the missing inventory items or the extensive damage. This company showed poor ethics, lack of transparency, and zero responsibility. DO NOT trust Maya Van Lines with your home or belongings. Maya Van Lines doesn't even deserve a 1star review! read more

Would not recommend! They lost 5 of my boxes and several others were damaged. I had lots of broken and dented goods. My crock pot was trashed. Many dishes broken. Their drivers showed up reaking of alcohol and POT. Eyes all bloodshot. They wheeled in several boxes UPSIDE DOWN. And rolled in at 9:30 pm at night when I had to wokr the next day!!!!! Please start with our images. They are far more powerful than my words. I have rarely stayed in the same place for more than 2 years, and unfortunately have moved far too often. My wife is a military brat and knows this life as well. I have moved within the same city, nationally and internationally. I have moved myself, recruited friends and family, hired movers and drove myself, as well as hired moving companies to take on the bulk of the work. Maya Van Lines has been the most destructive and careless movers I have ever seen or worked with. In August of 2019, my wife and I moved from Atlanta to Phoenix. Maya Van Lines by far had the best price and though some reviews warned us of "you get what you pay for", there was enough positive reviews to give me peace of mind. Again, I had never seen the type of destruction and packing that I experienced with Maya. When the truck arrived in Phoenix and the back door opened, my heart dropped when I saw what Maya had done with our possessions. If you have ever seen a truck that has crashed on the highway, with boxes that have been thrown all of the road, our items looked like this and then were quickly tossed back into another truck. Entire boxes were smashed and ripped open. Items and pieces of items were falling out of boxes, as the heaviest items sat on top of the mountain that was our things. As items began to be pulled the truck, the chaos became clear. There was no method or care, only negligence. PLEASE LOOK AT OUR IMAGES. Wardrobe boxes were smashed to half their size. My wife lost 75% of her clothes. We had boxes that fell apart, leaving kitchen appliances and items out in the hallway of our building. Antique heirloom chairs that had their leg snapped right off. Artwork and frames that were broken and dented. Books that were crushed and their spines snapped. Furniture that was drug, leaving deep scratches. And a ton of small things that were just destroyed or lost. To summarize, Maya quoted us without coming to our home. There charged an additional 25% than what they quoted. The driver in Phoenix argued with me about delivering our items even though we had a loading dock in our building. They charged me another $150 because of the distance to the door even though they just had driven 2000 miles. In Phoenix, they hired movers off craigslist that morning. Our items were covered in dust, like they had been stored for years. They left us with at least $12,000 worth of damaged items. Some items are irreplaceable. Their claims procedure is designed to discourage use and at times unusable (It would not allow me to upload images of the damage). Please stay away from Maya. It is not worth the frustration, pain, and loss to save a little on the move. Please do not put yourself through this. read more

My adventure with Maya Van Lines started a bit shaky - the lady that called me a couple of times to find out when my move was was no longer working at the office when I called back a few weeks later. Instead I was transferred to Raphael, very pleasant guy to talk to. I wanted to stay on a certain budget and we managed to do that. My move to MA from GA was scheduled for Sunday, but on Thursday I got a call from Raphael telling me that they had another client on sunday, they would have to come pick my things on saturday. That was a bit of an inconvenience for me but I managed to make it work. PROS: - Cheaper across the board - I have checked with a variety of moving companies - My stuff arrived safe and sound, nothing was broken. read more

During the pack out, the movers were efficient and also highly professional. We have just taken delivery at our destination in California, and again, the unload was quick and easy. Best of all, they beat out estimates from other movers. Lisa was great to work with on the phone to coordinate pickup, delivery, and payments. I would have rated my experience higher if it wasn't for the lost and damage items. They are not recommended for long distance move. They damaged every piece of furniture we have, some items got lost possibly during third party transportation. Overall the moving guys were polite. read more

From scheduling the move to pick up: Maya Van Lines demonstrates professionalism and excellence all the way through. The great customer service took some of the stress out of moving! The only down-side wasn't from Maya but from the company, Illinois Movers, who they subcontracted with for delivery. They did an awesome job picking our stuff , Its along distance move from ATL to Bentonville, Arkansas. Their quote was low when compared top other quotes. No surprise charges at the time of pickup, accommodated all our requests. We got our stuff moved within 2-3 days as promised . They talked and reduced the outrageous charges by 20% being levied by the contract carrier that did drop off our stuff. I don't think its fair to blame Maya van lines about the behavior of a random driver. I am gonna get the details of the company and would leave a review there. The one less star is due to the fact that I am still not happy about the way the destination driver behaved. Maya van lines should be careful when engaging these drivers again. If I have to move again , I would definitely consider them. read more

I used Maya for a move from Georgia to Pennsylvania. I have done a cross country move before and are aware of issues with fraudulent moving companies, so I tried to be very careful in selecting a moving company. Overall, Maya did a very good job. I got an in person estimate and quote. With Maya, I did not have them move anything I could pack myself in boxes or fit in the Penske truck I rented and used for a partial self-move. Maya only moved my larger pieces of furniture. They had a big crew come out to pick things up and did a very thorough job of wrapping my furniture. There was one table that had some pieces break off--this probably would have happened regardless, so I don't necessarily hold it against them. The time frame for delivering my furniture was pretty good, but not the two to seven day timeframe they quoted. I got my stuff delivered 12 days after it was picked up, and I wasn't ready for it anyway until 7 days after pick up. The payment terms were a $200 deposit when booked, one half on pick up and the remainder on delivery. I was told I needed to pay with cashier's check on delivery. This was a little annoyance since it required me to go to he bank and pay a fee. Another specialty mover I used accepted credit cards--not sure why this can't be done. Nonetheless, I got the cashier's check well in advance in case the movers came when the bank wasn't open. Two days before the delivery, I got an email from the delivery truck stating that cash or USPS money orders were the only acceptable forms of payment. I called Maya to double check that my cashier's check would be accepted. They confirmed it would. When the delivery team came, they said they couldn't accept the cashier's check and wouldn't be able to deliver my furniture. I had to call Maya (luckily they were in their office on this Saturday). They eventually cleared this up and I had my furniture delivered, but this type of problem should not have come up in the first place. Apparently the contractors who Maya uses for delivery try to set their own terms. I'm not sure what the reasoning is anyway for not accepting a cashier's check, since it's as good as cash. Also, my balance was over $1000, and USPS money orders have a maximum of $1000, so this policy did not even make sense. I'm certainly not going to carry around over $1000 in cash to pay the delivery guys. My furniture was all intact and nothing missing from the delivery. The initial quoted price did not change. I would use Maya again, mainly because they gave a decent price that they honored and did not change, the furniture was delivered timely, and nothing was lost or significantly damaged. read more

My review is long overdue as my move was a year ago, so I don't remember all the nitty gritty details, but I'll share what I remember. I was on a really tight schedule moving from Atlanta to San Diego and didn't have time for walk through appointments with a bunch of moving companies, so I was trying to do it via phone/email. Maya was one of the few that didn't require an in-person appointment, so I was very relieved. The best part of this company was working with Raphael--he was an absolute ray of sunshine in my time of complete stress. He did whatever he could to accommodate me logistically and he just had an all around great attitude. They should give him a raise. From what I recall, pricing was much lower than the better known companies out there, so I was a bit nervous that it might affect service, but the packers were professional and did a good job, and my stuff arrived safe and sound in San Diego, on time and in good condition. read more

My experience with Maya was initially very positive. In calling around and talking to people as well as looking at online reviews as well as the "Trust Dale" approval I though this would be an easy experience, at least as far as moving goes. The ladies I dealt with in the office were a pleasure to deal with throughout the entire process for the things that they could handle. The movers who loaded up our things couldn't have been better. They were quick, efficient and tidy. Once the items left our possession is where things get testy. I got a call the week before our arrival stating they would be at our location in 30 minutes. I informed them that no one was there and they said it was a mistake. The week of our move there was radio silence and it took me repeatedly calling to find out that "they were understaffed" and couldn't make the delivery. It took call after call and emails to find out where our things were. At no point did the dispatch call us to let us know when they were coming. This was a huge issue at parking permits were and building superintendents needed to be aware so they could reserve the elevator. When we finally got a time, they missed the window and showed up 45 minutes late. They looked at the building and immediately wanted to charge the 75 foot fee even though they hadn't seen where the unit was. Once they started working they were far better outside of a couple of needless comments. Our things are worse for the wear. Lots of scratches on things that didn't have scratches. Water damaged furniture that is warped and or now peeling. The lids of plastic tubs are all wet. And once piece that they didn't unwrap before they left is soaked as well as the box inside it. This company may be great for a local move, but I wouldn't trust them with anything where their actual crew isn't doing the move. read more

This is my first time moving cross country, from GA to CA. Maya has been so great. Raphael was our sales representatives, he explained everything clear and simple for us. Pick up was on time and the move took about 7 days which is really fast. The whole time they were patient with keeping us informed of the scheduled so the truck showed up exactly when we expected. It was a blessed to be able to know when the truck comes because the collateral burden of booking hotels etc is costly. The movers are very professional and handled everything carefully. Nothing was lost or broken on the way. What I am impressed the most is Adi's team, they are very friendly and accomodating. We had problems with getting a parking permit on time and the community didn't allow the moving truck to come near. We were facing some 900 extra for long-carry. But Adi was resourceful and persuasive and was able to go out of his way to find solutions in such stressful situation, saving us some 700 bucks along the way. His crews were very friendly and patient, moving furniture here and there to make sure we are satisfied with the arrangement. The price is very reasonable. We were able to get things done around some 3k. When online all say at least 4-5k is required. I know some insurance costs 1k which is probably the price is so high, but we didn't get any special insurance, because we trust maya. So that's how much maya's brand is worth: some 1k addition to its service value. Special thanks to Adi's moving crew. Also we didn't know before, tips for the mover is about $20-30 each. I'd tip them 50 each if i wasn't on a tight student budget. I highly recommend Maya for cross country or in country. I will definitely work with Maya again for the next move. read more

Overall this was a pretty bad experience when Maya Van Lines moved my belongings from Atlanta to Houston. To be fair, they were great when the picked up my belongings. Prompt. Professional. Efficient. However, when it came time to deliver, the team was late and threatened to not deliver my belongings unless I paid an additional $300. When I called the office to see why there was a bait and switch, the receptionist was extremely rude and said there was nothing that could be done without extra payment. The delivery man lied and said the truck wouldn't fit down my driveway (which it could) and that he would need to get a smaller truck to bring my items closer to the door. After refusing to wait for a reschedule, I was informed that in order for the delivery to be done that day, I would need to send images on google maps of the distance between the truck and my front door AND have my house mate confirm the distance. After an hour of back and forth, we agreed to an additional $75 fee. I still didn't think this was fair, but I didn't want my items held hostage. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this company completely. read more

I was very skeptical reading mixed reviews on yelp and here - but I couldnt have been more wrong. The move was smooth, professional and easy. All I had to do was not be in their way and sign the papers. I did not pay a dollar more than what was quoted and all my stuff was placed exactly where I had asked it to be placed. I recently had to move from Georgia to Texas and after getting dozens of expensive quotes I chose Maya Van Lines because the quote was accurate and reasonable. the whole experience was amazing. Lisa was great to work with. She kept me informed from the time of pick up to delivery. The movers were prompt and took caution in handling my belongings with utmost care to detail which meant my boxes and furniture was well secured in the transportation. The delivery was as promised and I received a call from the driver (Steve) who was on time and very professional. He reassembled my furniture. We had an excellent experience working with Maya Van Lines on a cross country move. They provided an good balance of value and quality. Their employees were very professional on pickup and did a excellent job wrapping and protecting furniture. After reading many horror stories from other moving companies, it was a relief to work with an honest company. They were understanding in addressing a few minor damage claims. You should be aware that for us, and likely for most moves, they have to hire outsider drivers and unloaders. This does create some uncertainty, but the only quotes we got from companies whose employees cover the entire move were substantially more expensive (ie more than double). Can't say enough great things about my recent move and the service provided by Maya Van Lines. Tami was absolutely amazing from start to finish. She recognized that moving can be stressful, however moving from GA to Mass was different level stressful, Tami was calming through the process. The crew that loaded my furniture were on time, they reached out to me that morning to let me know of their ETA. They wrapped my furniture piece by piece to ensure my valuable items were taken care of. The process was smooth on the departure from GA. I arrived in Mass on July 4 and received a phone call and text message on July 5th from the driver of the truck, asking me what the latest he could deliver to me on Friday night. We settled for Saturday morning, Khalif and Kent were the drivers and honestly these two were AMAZING!!! They texted me throughout the morning prior to arriving to my storage unit. They unpacked the truck, ensuring that everything was safely put into the storage unit and they even made sure I knew where everything was. I called them 2 days before we wanted out things moved, and they made an appointment for us for 3 movers. The day before the move, they called us to confirm the appointment, and then they called 30 minutes before their scheduled arrival time to let us know that they were on the way. The 3 movers were fast, careful, and really courteous and nice. Our move included a stop at a storage unit, an apartment, and the loading of items into a storage POD. I believe that they charged $125 an hour, with a 3 hour minimum. There was no charge for gas or a trip charge. The amount of stress that they alleviated by them handling the moving of everything, was really worth it. read more

I had a very good experience moving from Buckhead, GA to Sarasota, FL storage. They packed my items beautifully and carefully --including several pieces of large art, many breakables, collectibles. They were efficient. The items made it safely and then safely with another mover to Miami. Nothing was broken or missing and items that needed to be handled carefully -- for disassembly and reassembly were thoughtfully handled. read more

The company was negligent in their storage of my property that included a full master suite of furniture, a ten seater dining table and 6 chairs with a full sized China closet, also a 5 seat lazy boy black leather sofa and a bachelors chest. They breach their contract by not reassembling all shelving that was disassembled in moving process. They did not take warning of boxes that contained glassware such as baking dishes and a host of other glass items. Do not use May Van Lines aka Mover Van Lines. read more

Mixed feelings.... The crew that showed up for the move was prompt, professional, and impressive. They worked quickly with good communication.... But the experience was ruined by the order-taker/office staff. We chose Maya based on both their pricing and reviews, for a move of my wife's grandma from Warner Robbins to Charlotte. The quote came in about 1/2 anyone else. The NIGHT BEFORE the move, after asking once again when the crew would be there the day of the move, they sent over a new quote with an ADDITIONAL $300 suddenly tacked on..... too late to change companies. Of course, they found additional cubic footage (uh-huh...) and materials to charge us for. OH, AND SUDDENLY THEY HAD SEVEN DAYS TO DELIVER TO US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was NOT communicated in any way! BEWARE! If you're moving out of state, they are NOT necessarily planning on driving right to you to deliver! To their credit, they seem to have bent over backwards to deliver to us the next day. The (completely different crew and company!) spoke little english but were prompt, communicative, and professional. Oh, since they won't tell you, you need to pay 1/2 upfront have the rest in a certified check at time of delivery! Overall, it was a learning experience for how to deal with out-of-state movers and their requirements and expectations. Very disappointed with the communication and what was expected before the move started, especially the extra (still no explanation of where an extra and last minute $300 came from) charges and delay in delivery from the office staff - but the moving crew was exceptional and I'm still amazed at how well they packaged/wrapped everything! read more

I used Maya movers for my move from Atlanta to NYC. Leo came out and did a walkthrough and gave me a binding estimate. Then I also went to a site called movebuddha and did a video walkthrough that was put up for bid. Several large companies sent me quotes but Maya beat them by 20%. I went with Maya and they had my stuff in NY in 2 days and could have had it there the next day. Overall very satisfied, thanks! read more

Moved from GA to WA. Leo was great, the guys that showed up to pick up my stuff were great.. hassle free .. Now for the reason it's not 5 stars.. The delivery was a little stressful as the driver had an attitude when he called and tried to charge me and additional $300 bucks to move stuff to a smaller truck which was unnecessary and I sent pictures and google map measurements showing that there was plenty of room to get a 52' truck into my apt complex. Driver agreed to do $150 instead but I still think it was unnecessary and some of the boxes had been handled pretty roughly even marked fragile (lesson learned, pack better in future). Aside from the final delivery pain with that one guy it was a good experience. I would hire them again. read more

Movers and management were nice however they lost my brand new tv stand, a large box full of decorative living room items, a back pack, a cord for my mac book along with various items they stuffed in the box. After multiple inquiries they finally admitted to delivering my belongings to another customer's storage unit, but they wouldn't be able to go get them because she is elderly and can't come back to unlock the unit. Management agreed to write me a check (only for the tv stand) since their insurance policy was so horrendous but the check did not reflect the total value of the items lost. Would not recommend for a long term move. read more

Being that moving is very stressful you want to make sure you hire the right moving company. I made the right decision when I hired Maya Van Lines. They had the best price, they showed up when they said they would, and Tami, the young lady I dealt with on the phone was the sweetest, patient and helpful person. I was really uptight about the move but after talking to her I felt so much better. She answered all my questions, she has a very calming affect & I certainly appreciated it. She was wonderful. Hiring Maya Van Lines was, without a doubt, the best decision ever .... when relocating my 89 year old father from Johns Creek, GA to Valencia, CA, to be closer to family. With all three living relatives in California, planning to move his belongings across the country... from across the country was, to say the least, challenging and a bit stressful. From the very first conversation with Tami, I knew this company was different. I spoke to and received quotes from other companies and not only was Maya the best price, hands down had the best customer service as well. The communication prior to the move was great, and the move from Atlanta was fine. However, everything was terrible from that point on. I arrived at my new home on Wednesday at 2am and my stuff wasn't delivered until SUNDAY. I was told the movers would come Sunday or on Monday morning if it was too late. However, they arrived on Sunday after 9PM, when I was exhausted and winding down. The first thing they said was something about a sick child and needing to hurry because they had another job. They literally THREW the boxes in the front door so my daughters and I had no choice but to move them. There was a ton of confusion since two guys were coming and two were going. They never checked to make sure they had all the boxes. They never took anything upstairs or to the basement. The worst. I've been breaking my back doing all the moving they should have done. read more
