We're so glad we chose Udi and his team for our kitchen remodel. We bought a condo with a 20+-year-old, cramped kitchen (a closet at one end ate up counter space). Our scope included new cabinets, countertop, backsplash, floor tile, and appliances. Several contractors warned the popcorn ceiling would look patchy after removing the closet and said it couldn't be blended. Udi was the only one who proposed a smart solution: drop the ceiling slightly and add recessed lights. The result is clean, bright, and open, which is exactly what we wanted. Udi was responsive, professional, and honest. As first-time homeowners, we appreciated how he guided our decisions and offered practical advice. His crew was punctual, respectful, and skilled. Like any project, a few things didn't go exactly to plan, but Udi consistently brought solutions and addressed issues quickly. They demo'd and removed our existing countertops, backsplash, sink, lighting, and one wall of cabinetry (including built-in fridge and wall oven), while being careful not to damage any of the cabinetry and flooring we were keeping. They installed attractive new cabinets on one side of the kitchen, along with a new fridge and microwave; did the plumbing and electrical work, and painted the walls and ceiling. The tiling job they did was really exceptional. We had a brick pattern for most of it, but they managed to integrate the herringbone pattern we wanted behind the stove, and it turned out beautifully. Maya Construction saved the day and if we did this project all over again we would not hesitate to select Maya Construction to take on our hardwood flooring project from the get-go. Our condo is located on the first floor of a 100-year-old three floor building in Chicago. In March 2021, we reached out to several flooring companies to have them view our home improvement project and decided to go with Luna Flooring and was that a huge mistake. The salesperson was different than the people who came out to install the hardwood who was different from the person that we dealt with when it came to customer service problems. Luna started the project one morning tearing out a 20 ft by 4 ft stretch of hardwood of our before packing up after an hour and saying they couldn't complete the project and someone from Luna would call us. We waited around for 8 hours for a call from Luna just to tell us there was nothing they could do and we needed to acquire a general contractor to finish the job. It took a week to get our refund from Luna and several back-and-forth phone calls with an Installation Manager who never stepped foot in our home. This is when we called Maya Construction and literally the next day Udi came on site to view the problem and provided a quote for the project. Udi was always responsive, took time to answer questions and compared to Luna, Maya Construction was without a doubt a superior experience. They demo'd and installed a completely new subfloor, floating engineered hardwood floor in just 5 days. The workers showed up on-time, were professional, made an effort to clean up after themselves because we were still living in the unit while work was taking place. They quickly problem solved some unforeseen issues and made what was initially a painful experience such a sigh of relief knowing our home was in good hands. We had a CREAKIEST floors ever and now they are silent. We are in disbelief that Maya Construction delivered such quality professional work in such a short time period. I had worked with Udi and team back in 2018 for a major remodel. a month ago I had an issue with the cabinet that stores my garbage bin. I immediately called to see what could be done. I had expected to pay for a replacement and installation costs. I called and within 24 hours I had answers. Maya construction team called the cabinet manufacturer and started the ball rolling. If I could, I would give 10 stars! Maya Construction Group recently finished my kitchen remodel. My home was built in 1922, I have owned it for the past 19 years. The kitchen was upgraded 20 years ago, prior to my purchase with extremely cheap materials by a handyman. I vacillated for a few years on whether or not to pull the plug and remodel. I visited Udi at Planet cabinets to discuss options. Udi was the first contractor I spoke with about the remodel. Fast forward a few months and I returned to Udi to complete the job. No other contractor could come close to Udi's knowledge and sensible recommendations to meet my needs. Udi was very respectful of my wishes and offered many options. As Udi says, I am detail oriented. I say that I am fussy and a pain in the a**. Throughout the remodel process I had many questions, changes and unwarranted concerns. Udi and his partner Ofer were very patient and understanding but most of all very concerned to make certain I was pleased with the work being performed and the outcome. The crews were prompt, courteous, friendly and very respectful. They cleaned up daily and treated my home as if it was their own. Udi or Ofer checked in daily either through phone calls, texts or on-site. I was really impressed with their many on-site visits. I lived in a limited space while the work was being performed but that was short lived as the project ended on time. I spent a little more than initially thought but that was due to my upgrades and added asks of the crew. All very well worth it. Unbelievable quality with very reasonable pricing. Really upset with this establishment. I wanted some work done with this company and right off the back the gentlemen starts asking me 1000 questions about my unit. I gave him the size of the basement living room and bedroom but told him it would be best to come down and take a look at the unit to give me a quote in person. Instead he keeps going on about how I can save money by using general contractors and such. (By the way I'm not trying to save money I am trying to get the best job done) his assumptions were way off, saying that it would cost about 10k then raising his prices drastically by saying it would actually cost 15-20k for a small living room and bedroom laminate flooring and 4 ft. drywall and paint repair. I said thank you and hung up. Not because I can't afford that amount but because his prices were WAYYYY OFF and he wouldn't even set up an appointment with me to give me a quote. (I asked him multiple times) It's unfortunate because this specific property I need worked on is worth way over 600k and my partner and I are looking for a professional contractor service that can work on multiple units in different buildings that we own. Unfortunately this guys energy and personality was unprofessional and honestly quite condescending. Had he known that I wasn't a "little guy" he might have shown more respect and interest. Someone throwing out a random quote without even coming by in person, telling me I should use a general contractor when I didn't even ask that, mentioning more then once that he doesn't know if my project is too small for him, throwing out two random prices, and then refusing to set up a appointment to come and view my unit is a RED FLAG. We found the Maya Construction Group on Yelp and we wanted to return the favor by sharing our experience. I was a little apprehensive as we embarked on the adventure of renovating our kitchen because of all the nightmare stories out there about contractors and because of a couple of bad experiences we had ourselves in the beginning of our search. Enter Maya Construction and Ofer. No more anxiety. These guys are extremely reliable and responsive. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people are unreachable and don't respond to inquiries. Ofer always responded within a day (usually sooner), his team was prompt and stuck to a schedule. And, of course most importantly, they did a fantastic job! I want to be brief so I'll just outline some of the work they did: 1. Removed existing back-splash tiles and counter-top. 2. Removed wooden, painted ceiling trim above island, repaired ceiling. 3. Painted entire ceiling. 4. Installed new back-splash and and counter-top. 5. Electrical work to accommodate our preferred lighting fixtures above the island. They also did some other miscellaneous work in our living room that we had been putting off because we couldn't find anyone we could trust to complete it. My husband and I highly recommend Maya Construction for any construction work that may be weighing on you. Just to show you the kind of service these guys provide, they came back on time to finish some minor remaining work even though we had already paid in full. I have called Maya coz the yelp rate is pretty high. Even though I was waiting for a weeks to call me back. They asked me what the scope of work they need to do. I sent pix to them to let them know I need to fix my kitchen floor and drywall and repaint my kitchen wall. I was so surprised of no quote to me and replied me that it was so small scope of work to them. I just think it is so awkward to refuse to repair due to the small work. I am writing at yelp coz I let everyone know Maya should have respected for all customers with their good working attitude and good service even it is really a small work. I believe that the cost for such small work at least 2-3000 dollars but they are not interested of working. I want to ask whether maya has a company's rules for not helping to fix small work? What definition Maya set for the small work? please approve it to me if maya has limitation from company rules. At this point, it is meant that I should warn to people who don't need to contact with maya if you just request to repair a small work and they pretty don't care about a couple of thousand dollars they can earn.
