My son was visiting from up North, and we needed a dog friendly restaurant to accommodate my son's dog; and Max's Table turned out to be a great fit. Of course, we were seated outside, and that seemed to encourage every guest to give his dog a pat as they passed by. But as much as we appreciated the very friendly dog friendly restaurant, what about the food? My son ordered a NOA Muffuletta sandwich, hoping for a reminder of being back in New Orleans where he had attended Tulane. He was pleased with his choice and enjoyed the meal, which included an Orzo pasta salad. I opted for the Cubano with French fries. My Cubano was excellent: perfectly pressed Cuban bread with excellent marinated pork. As my Cubano arrived alone, I asked about the missing fries and was assured they would shortly arrive. And they were piping hot and already salted. The portion was huge, and I had my son share the plate. It was a nice day and the food and friendliness of the staff and passing guests provided a background for an enjoyable father and son lunch. My husband love the omelettes and is currently going down the list to try them all :D Let me tell you about the corned beef hash. Y'all know that it usually varies from place to place. Our lunch here was amazing! We are here on vacation and found this on yelp with so many 5 star reviewed and got a recommendation from a local. The reviews were not wrong. The service was so friendly and the food could not have been better. The blueberry pancake was fantastic! We also got chocolate chip pancakes, veggie omelet, biscuits and gravy and a patty melt. All of them were very good. You could tell that most of the other costumers were locals and regulars. I love finding local places with amazing food. Quant breakfest place with a clean fresh look. Everything is nicely placed so it dosent get too crowded or noise. The food was amazing. Some of the best hollandaise sauce I have ever had. We got some avocado toast with freshly cut Sweet Tomatoes and eggs cooked however you like. Their special of the day was stuffed French toast with fresh raspberries and instead of using cream cheese like so many others they used marscapone which made it so much better. Never again Racist A holes, went there once and never went back. Went there cause everyone was talking about how awesome it was. Got seated an that was it. People pouring in, they all got served before we even got a waiter to talk to us. My daughter is very white, I on the other hand am brown, not Spanish, but I look like I am. I'm mixed black an white. I even apologize to my own daughter, saying sorry it's probably me. She sad F&$k let's leave. We didn't, I'm not that kind of person. But we got the worst service ever. I should have just listened to her, there is so much better service and breakfast here in Venice. I'll take Breakfast Cottage over that place any day. Hopefully Max has gotten better now. If you like breakfast food, you can't go wrong here. Beats all the chain breakfast spots in town by a mile, and maybe all the local spots too, haven't tried them all though...yet. I got the lemon ricotta pancakes...OMG. These are to die for. Quite literally if you were to have them every day, but probably the best pancakes I've ever had the pleasure of eating. Definitely big enough for two people to share, though you can eat it all by yourself if you're hungry enough, and I was! Staff was very friendly, and the food came out seemingly instantaneous. I saw terrific reviews so my elderly lady neighbor and I went today for a late breakfast and we were thrilled with everything from food, cleanliness and friendly staff. Even had a visit from the owner ( who's husband is the chef). We had a Greek Omelet and Benedict Florentine and both entrees were fresh and flavorful. I loved the applewood smoked bacon on the Benedict rather than the usual spongy Canadian bacon and the sauce was delicious. I judge places by the potatoes and they passed with flying colors. We sat outside and other than the noisy traffic on the nearby road it's shaded and comfortable and DOG FRIENDLY ! I'll definitely be back soon with my best buddy CISCO. Oh, and wonderful coffee too! My wife and I stopped in today for lunch. We were seated quickly and the waitress was very pleasant. Our our orders were quickly taken and drinks served right away. I ordered the Cuban sandwich with fries and my wife ordered the grilled shrimp tacos and salad. My sandwich was one of the best I have had in a very long time. There was plenty of meat, the cheese was just right and the sandwich was presssd perfectly. The fries were hand cut and done to perfection. Chrispy on the outside and tender on the inside. My wifes shrimp tacos were the best she said she's had in the 18 years we have been coming to FL for the winter. Also her salad was made of fresh mixed greens, not just iceberg lettuce like most places use. Also the waitress never allowed our sweet tea glasses to get empty. Very good service. I want to start out by saying that we are the people who often seek out the manager when we go out to eat (which is a lot!) just to recognize the server who has done an outstanding job. Rarely do we complain. We have been to Max's Table on many occasions and enjoyed it. However, today I am writing because the service was terrible. How terrible? So terrible that we did not leave a tip...and I am a server, so I know how important that is. Honestly, no one there seemed to be happy today, starting with the hostess. We sat outside (after I went inside to inquire) and she brought us menus right away, however, after at least five minutes we did not have a server. We had seen TWO servers for other tables, just not one for us. Not having been acknowledged and being a little short on time, I went back inside to ask for a server. She came while I was inside and my boyfriend explained that we were a little short on time and gave her our drink order. We ordered as soon as she came back with our drinks, cofffee and water. Our food arrived pretty quickly, I got the crunchy french toast (which I love) and he got oatmeal. The food was dropped off and she left, saying she would be back with syrup. As she walked by from another table, my boyfriend asked for some milk for his oatmeal. About five minutes later (I'm not exaggerating....I had finished half of my meal) she came back with the syrup and the milk....dropped them on the table without a word and kept going. Now would have been a good time to check on us to see if we were happy with our meals. Oatmeal is hard to keep warm anyway, and of course by now it was cold. As we finished our meal, she walked by twice without even glancing our way. We were never offered more coffee or water. We were never asked if everything was ok. We were never asked if we needed anything at all. Although we had specificly mentioned twice that we were short on time, we waited for our check. Eventually she came and took our card. It honestly felt like no one cared at all whether we were there or not. Not one person was friendly, not one person smiled, and not one person (of the many who walked by multiple times) seemed to even notice us. We like to eat out, not just for the food (athough we appreciate good food), but also for the experience. Servers that engage with the customers, or at least pay attention and make you feel welcome are certainly part of what you expect when you go out. Honestly, it doesn't matter how good the food is at a restaurant, the service can make or break you. And this was some of the worst service we have ever had. The breakfast is amazing.. the brunch items beyond awesome!! The lunches and salads are to die for!! This is a great place owned by a lovely Greek family.The food was very good the service was very good however they really cannot accommodate more than a party of 4 comfortably so it's a very long wait if you have more than four people we had five and we waited about 45 minutes. We go to Max's table all the time. We are locals and we live here year-round and at this time of the year when it's busy with snowbirds we actually have to go off hours to get a seat. It's a family run business and when your frequent the place they treat you like family. The owner comes over and greets you with a smile and makes you feel welcome every time you go. The food is always fresh and prepared with love. If anything is ever wrong which I've never had happened I'm sure they tend to immediately. As far as Covid is concerned, the have their tables separated. There's also outdoor seating for those people that don't want to eat inside because of Covid.
