Gyro Omelette with Home Fries and Rye Toast
    Tina S.

I enjoy dining at this little breakfast/lunch spot. I have only ever had breakfast here and it was delightful. The omelettes are a good size and I enjoy the home fries that accompany them. Food is made to order, fresh, filling, and tasty. The original owner sold the restaurant but she still works there and she is a sweetheart. The new owner is very nice as well. If you're looking for a solid breakfast place, this is your spot!

Our family absolutely adores this restaurant. It's like having breakfast made with care and pride from the owners to all the staff. Our server was fantastic, funny, and on the ball. The veggie omelet and home fries were delicious as were the mushroom, ham and cheese omelets. Not to forget homemade biscuits. We gave everyone a hug and see you in January.

Absolutely unexpected fantasticness!!! Large menu with home cooked food. More omelets than you can crack an egg at. I had the ham mushroom and egg crepe - large wheat crepe filled to the brim with ham. Cooked perfectly, I couldn't be more stuffed myself. Service with a smile is one reason I'll be back!!

Another gem tucked away in a strip mall amidst the higher end Thai, Indian, and Steakhouse along 41...somewhere between Big Lots and Tidewell Thrift. The friendliest warm welcome you can imagine and lots of menu choices for breakfast or lunch - closes at 2:30. It seemed the server and owner knew their patrons and I observed friendly banter, immaculate service and attention. I knew walking in I wanted those delicious savory crepes, filled with mushrooms, tomatoes, cheese and served with homestyle potatoes. My third time I believe. Id probably go more often but Im rarely up and out of the house before their closing time. I made it with plenty of time to spare but in no way did I feel I'd be rushed. Check them out - I believe they'll be closing for a vacation soon so get going

I ended up sitting there for 40 minutes before I left with our food. When they had me pay, I noticed they messed up the order and swapped the chicken entree for the gyro entree. So I had to wait for them to fix it. She apologized and gave us extra baklava to make up the difference in price, but after I got home and looked at the menu, I should have owed her more money rather than them giving me extra baklava. Other than the cluster of picking the food up, we thought it was all delicious. The portions seemed on the smaller size for a platter that supposedly can feed 2-3 people but with our extra entrees, it was the perfect amount for us. The hummus was great with the warm pita, the meat was all flavorful, and the baklava was a great way to end the meal. The "salad" that comes with the Sultan Feast isn't really a salad but just a few cut up veggies. Overall, I felt bad for the 2 ladies running the front alone because they were very busy and they kept apologizing for the wait times. The food was great though and we would definitely order it again.

I found Al Forno on Yelp, we were interested in finding…read morea good Shwarma sandwich place in the Sarasota area (we eat them a lot in NYC), but had, we'll say, "moderate" expectations. The storefront is nothing special at all, you order from a big tablet screen and then they have standard fast-casual seating. It doesn't look fancy at all and the restroom situation is weird (you have to go outside through a back alley for the men's restroom?). The workers were nice but I was only hoping for "solid" food. Then I took my first bite of the mixed-shwarma sandwich, and it was sublime. Perfectly cooked and well seasoned tender meat, they press the pita with just the right amount of salad/pickles, so the pita is crunchy and the meat isn't overwhelmed with too much salad like so often happens. Their house fries were spiced deliciously and fried fresh (which makes us want to try the Falafel, which we also saw them frying fresh). The food was *fantastic*, making it one of those diamond-in-the-rough places that you'd never guess had such good food. We're looking forward to going back and trying more on the menu, highly recommend if you're near UTC mall.

The food was solid, your typical Mediterranean cuisine but I will say it's a bit on the pricey side if you're just trying to grab a quick lunch. The tabbouleh parsley was chopped a bit larger than I personally prefer. I usually like it more finely chopped, but it was still fresh and enjoyable. Service was quick and the food came out fast, which I appreciated. There's limited seating inside, so it seems like it's set up more for takeout than dining in. Overall, a good spot. Just keep the pricing and seating in mind depending on what you're looking for.

We had dinner on Saturday and an early dinner for Mother's Day. Longet remains a spectacular restaurant. First, it's a really well-designed space, in which you want to linger. It's beautiful, elegant, calming. Secondly, it's a better clientele; people who have been around and know what's good. Thirdly, well, the food. It's elevated good food (if it makes any sense). For instance, the lamb shank, which I'd never order anywhere else, was a super tender marvel with really spectacular sauce. The vegetable sides scream flavor, and flavorful vegetables veggies are not common in Florida. We barely managed to squeeze our way in for an early dinner on Sunda, as all tables were booked. At the bar we had burgers, but not beef; out of curiosity and following a big dinner the previous evening, we tried the shrimp burger and the basil chicken burger - a first for us. Since it's Longet, they were both exceptional. Try the fries as well - not your usual fare. It's a good drive from our home, or else we'd be there weekly. Truly amazing restaurant!
