My fiance and I went here for a random date night and we will absolutely return. The ambiance of the restaurant makes you not even feel like you're in Baltimore, and the live music (we went on a Saturday night) was a plus. You have the option to sit outside on the water, and the patio has plenty of seating and umbrellas. We opted to sit inside since it was pretty hot but the interior is equally beautiful. After dinner we were able to just walk out on to the patio area and it connects with the rest of Harbor East which was really convenient. Our server was great and made excellent recommendations. For drinks we got guava juice with a shot of mezcal and a cocktail (I'm forgetting exactly which one), and then shots later. My server was attentive and knowledgeable - I received a few lessons on tequila as well as a proper wagyu steak. Live latin music was on full display and the place was a vibe. A perfect venue for relaxing after a long day. I suggest sitting outside near the bar for unforgettable views of the harbor and the welcome breeze. Great place to have a drink with friends. The main Reason to come to Maximon is the beautiful view of the inner harbor. Located in harbor east it gives you and excellent view of the city lights surrounding the harbor and the iconic Dominos Sugar sign. The restaurant it's wild is a thing of beauty. Reminds me of a Mexican villa. It's located off the lobby of the Four Season hotel. I came down to meet a friend who was having a bad week and it was worth the trip. I parked in the garage attached to the Four Seasons. If you are familiar with the area it used to be Wit & Wisdom a few years ago. I made reservations but when we arrived there was it a table ready. It was crowded on a Friday night so we waited in the lounge area by the interior bar until our table was ready. They had a live jazz band playing. Once seated outside we had another round of drinks and made our food orders. The menu is pretty small. The tacos are a la cart and are expensive if you want multiple. Taste was pretty good. The fresh house made tortillas were the best part. Drinks were reasonable priced. Some of the entrees were on the expensive side but our waitress advised us they are meant to be shared with group of people. If you sit outside just know there will be bugs. This is definitely a "treat yourself" kind of meal as the food and drinks are a bit pricy, but worth it for a special occasion! Everything was delicious from the drinks to the tacos. The double fried potatoes I expected to be crispy -- they turned out on the softer side but still had a great sauce. The highlight of the meal was absolutely the guava cheesecake. Easily one of my favorite places to eat in Baltimore. The staff are friendly and professional. Service is efficient and always considerate. They don't try to rush you, and they don't keep you waiting either. The drinks are all amazing, personally I love the margaritas. In particular the spicy margarita is an absolute must have. The current menu features guacamole with gooseberry halves. A very unique flavor combination. The queso fundido is another must-have item. Personally I don't bother adding any protein, as it is delicious with the standard cactus and it becomes difficult to finish a meal with other platters to share even if you stick to the cheese only version. Another must-have item is the Hamachi ceviche... Simply phenomenal. The tacos are all amazing. The crunchy mahi-mahi and chicken Plancha are my two favorites. The plates and platters are all well prepared and well seasoned. Pay attention to the order on the menu as they are arranged from smallest serving size to largest. This time around we shared the short ribs plate, potatoes plate, and the flat iron steak fajita platter. Always leave room for dessert! The Tres leches cake and churros are absolute must haves. We did not even finish it. - bummer! My husband ordered the flat iron fajitas... no flavor at all. He was so so disappointed. Because he looks a good fajita - any time of day. During a recent day trip to Baltimore, we were starving after running around and visiting some of the museums. We were in the mood for tacos, but were having a hard time finding a place that was open in those weird hours between brunch and dinner. One place we went to had not opened for service, so we looked on social media and found Maximon. We headed towards the Harbor to check it out. First, we didn't realize it was inside of a hotel and were having a hard time finding it. Luckily, it was a beautiful day out so we didn't mind walking around for a bit. Once inside, the hostess seemed a little hesitant to seat us without a reservation. We really wanted to sit on the patio since it was nice out, but they were only giving us one option squished between other guests and we were not feeling it. There were several other tables open, but they said they were holding those for larger parties. Oh well. We decided to move inside since there was pretty much no one else occupying tables. We were still able to get a table by the window overlooking the patio. Since we weren't sold on "fancy tacos" lol, we decided to just try a few appetizers. We ended up getting the crab fritters, chicken quesadilla and the queso fundido. I will say that everything we ordered was delicious - very fresh, hot and tasty. Maximón might have been one of my favorite meals this year, and I went to Cartagena and Paris and ate at Michelin-star restaurants! The food is so good and I really love the ambiance of the restaurant. I love how there's a lot of bright light, and it's really open and airy. Their guacamole is a top 5 of my life: so fresh, so perfectly salted, and a perfect balance of the acidic lime. We ordered two! The buttermilk pancakes with canela was TO DIE FOR! It tasted like a dessert. I would drive back to Baltimore just to eat those. read more

We came in on a Sunday without reservations looking for outdoor seating to take advantage of the lovely weather. It was our lucky day because there was ample seating to be had. While the ambiance is attractive indoors the outdoor seating is legitimately gorgeous. We primarily stuck with drinks but I did have the quesadilla and hamachi ceviche. The ceviche was not amongst the most flavorful I've had but the quesadilla was surprisingly good. My buddies had no complaints about their drinks and I stuck to my non-alcoholic mango mocktail which was way too sweet for my liking. The service was a mixed bag. When I saw my waiter, he was responsible to our requests but there seemed to be stretches where he seemingly forgot about us and we were left looking around for help. I ordered a margarita, which was very good. For my appetizer, I ordered the oysters. Ok, I have to give these oysters their shine. The garnishments on these oysters were delicious - bar none. Adding cocktail sauce or hot sauce to these oysters would be blasphemy. The oysters are already dressed with salsa verde mignonette, cilantro, and pink peppercorn. The pink peppercorn is what did it for me...a hint of spice. Greatness in your mouth. For my meal, I ordered the Grilled Shrimp and Local Blue Crab tacos. Two tacos come with the order. Very tasty, and I would get again. Churros were offered for dessert because our server felt that she didn't provide her best service. Well, we thought she did an amazing job. So, if there was more that she could have offered, I don't know what it could have been. I also want to mention that there is live music played on Friday and Saturday nights. I was worried that there was no seasoning at the table but it was perfectly seasoned for me. Service was the only problem. It wasn't busy at all. I think they only had one waitress who was probably on break when we arrived. It was about 20min before we got our drink order and 30min for our food order. No one ever came and refilled water. Can't here after the Winter Wonderland experience to grab a quick bite. The view was nice and gave Miami vibes as we looked at the water and palm trees through the window. Service was pleasant and very attentive. I love they have a small menu however, that didn't make ordering any easier. I finally decided on the short rib and I found out that it was beef and was still decided I was going to add the shrimp or mahi mahi tacos since we were not going to order one of the big entrees to share. It was interesting to see they offer suckling pig on the menu but I wouldn't dare order it. There were three options for dessert and if I remember correctly one was a tiramisu, the other an ice cream/gelato and the last a flan. I know I was looking for creme brulee and this is a Spanish restaurant but hey. . . . I hear they offer a brunch but the menu choices online didn't seem to appealing. Me and my friends decided to spend the day in Baltimore and stopped at maximon for weekend brunch. When I say every single dish was delicious it was an amazing experience. Everything was super flavorful with such depth of flavor. The poached eggs were perfectly cooked and the crab fritters were so yummy especially with the sauce. The ambiance was so nice and the restaurant was so chic and well designed. Such a beautiful scene!!! The only reason the review isnt perfect is the service was crazy slow , the waitress rarely checked on us and it unnecessarily extended our visit. We made reservations a few days in advance because we wanted to listen to the live band while we ate. We were seated in a far corner away from the band, near the emergency exit where it was cold. We couldn't see the band and had to listen to it through a poor sound system over the loud voices from a large party at a nearby table. We had trouble hearing each other talk. We had a Caesar salad which would have been quite good except that we had mostly the ends of the romaine lettuce and little of the more tender tops of the leaves. My husband ordered the rockfish, which he thought was good except for the sauce which was too sweet. I ordered the swordfish, which was served with a tasty sauce and surrounded by white beans that were surrounded by a nice avocado sauce. The swordfish was overcooked and the beans were undercooked. When the manager asked what I thought, I said it was OK. She asked what could be better and brought a replacement plate. The new replacement was less overcooked, but still not as tender as it should have been. Of course, the beans were still undercooked. I hadn't expected that to change. The service was slow because we were in the room with the large party. We had ordered a bottle of red wine that was brought too cold, and which was mediocre. Also, the table wasn't level and kept tipping a bit. We were underwhelmed by this Atlas restaurant. read more

Finally visited maximon to celebrate my sister's birthday and had a great experience! I was able to make a Friday evening reservation for two for the same week, which was great. Having last visited before maximon was in this space, I was immediately in love with their light, airy vibe. The patio looked super inviting, but we choose to sit inside by the windows and enjoyed a beautiful harbor view. Service was great, super friendly and helpful. We each got a cocktail and they were very good! We split guacamole which was good but nothing special. We split the suckling pig for an entree and it was amazing! Perfectly cooked with a crispy outside and tender inside. It came with rice and some sauce which were tasty. If more than two people were sharing this, you'd probably need another small plate. Love the ambiance. For a moment you feel you are in Mexico. I love the mahi mahi tacos and the steak tacos. The fried rice with plantain is yummy.
