Coquetta cocktail
Audrey R.

I came here for a work dinner, and was at first blown away by the design of the space. Very tasteful and relevant style to their Mexican and South American cuisine. We got a mostly private table, towards the back of the restaurant with a half curtain framing our space against the larger room, and this contributed to an elevated experience. Drinks were great - I got the Coqueta, which had vodka, cherry, lime, almond, and ginger. They blended together into a new flavor that worked seamlessly! I'd rate that drink alone a 5/5. Chips & guacamole were also fabulous. The guacamole was flavored fantastically. It also had pomegranate seeds and grapes, which were interesting but I'm not sure if they contributed much to the flavor. Beet salad: the yellow beets were thinly sliced and wrapped around goat cheese like a sushi roll. It honestly looked better than it tasted, the flavor was just okay. Al pastor taco: I was so excited for this but then utterly disappointed when I picked up the taco and the tortilla literally fell apart. And then the pastor was bot even that flavorful. Palomilla steak: this is the most expensive item on the menu, but I would argue that this is no better than another steak at any other restaurant. This is a 10oz wagyu steak with chimichurri and some shredded veggie salad on top. The chimichurri was sooo underwhelming. The steak was a nice texture and well cooked but the seasoning was unspectacular. Two of my coworkers got a side of butter sauce typically used for lobster that the waitress recommended. They let me try it, and it saved the steak. I personally think that should be a normal sauce option for the steak, it leveled it up the dish (as butter typically does). The service was wonderful, no complaints there. But the food was not great enough to justify the crazy pricing. I guess it's fine dining, because it's just "fine." Also found out this is an atlas restaurant, and I haven't been to many of their restaurants before, but I'm seeing a trend that they have average food for steep prices. I'll try to avoid Atlas if I can.

Upscale Mexican food in downtown Baltimore. Connected to the four seasons hotel you get delicious food as well as beautiful views of the harbor. We celebrated my mom's birthday here with dinner. Our server Ashley was so friendly, personable and great with getting questions answered about the menu. I definitely recommend the Coqueta cocktail and the rice and beans as a side. I ordered the ceviche which was my first time having yellowtail but it was flavorful and a little spicy which I loved. The tacos are priced individually and a bit high for what you get but they were delicious.

This is my review after visiting Maximin three times. My hubby is a lover of Mexican cuisine, so I get to try all the Mexican restaurants. This is a bit upscale taco place. The location is fantastic being right off the water. We sat outside on a perfect weather day and inside when it was too hot. We were also able to watch the sunset which was a plus. Their oysters are FRESH!!! They were so good. Salsa was amazing ! We really enjoyed all their dish! Servers were great and bartender was so kind. Absolutely a must place if you are around that area.

We came here for lunch and it was delicious! Food and drinks tasted great. Our waiter was very friendly. We ordered the tacos and they do have a note saying that when you order them originally it only comes with 1 taco. So you will have to ask for more if you are feeling hungry for more than 1. Our seat had a good view of the harbor. I'd love to come back to hear the live music they have around dinner.

Highly recommend brunch at Maximón. The buttermilk pancakes with canela are outstanding, with buttery, crispy edges that make them unforgettable. I always enjoy trying something new here, and the Norteño--suggested by our waitress--was excellent: a comforting combo of hash brown, poached eggs, and chorizo that reminded me of a breakfast bowl. Don't skip the smoked wings either--so good you'll want your own order.

I came here with some friends to celebrate our September birthdays. It was not my choice to come but I was out voted. I choose not to eat at Atlas Restaurants because they are usually overpriced and underwhelming and this experience was no difference. I will admit, we had great service, the ambience was very nice and upscale (especially with the live music), and the drinks were great. The food was a letdown. The chicken tings tetela was ok but I don't think it was worth $12. Also, the roasted chicken was meh. Not horrible but I wouldn't care to eat it again. I didn't care for the risotto it came with either. And honestly, the way it was plated didn't sell it to me. The only thing I did love other than the drinks were the trio of desserts they gave us on the house for our birthdays. The churro was my favorite. So as I mentioned before, overpriced and underwhelming. You pay more for the ambience and the Atlas name because the food didn't do it for me.

Stopped by Maximón for drinks and an appetizer, and wow--instantly felt like I'd been transported into Latin America, whether Mexico, Spain, or somewhere in between. The outdoor waterfront seating truly feels like a resort getaway, totally out-of-country vibes right in Baltimore. We only had drinks and chips & salsa, but both were outstanding. The cocktails were super refreshing, and the chips were perfectly crisp with fresh, flavorful salsa. I didn't expect so much from a light snack, but Maximón delivered. Can't wait to go back for a full meal!

Randomly walked by on a Saturday evening. There was a group learning bachata i Believe on the pier, infront of the outdoor Maximon bar/ seating area. Seating is first come outside, we found space at the bar Had a few drinks. Didn't get any food. Chill time catching up with a friend and those around us Good times along the water. three bathroom stalls for women, and at the end there was no toilet paper or hand towels. I told someone about the issue, hopefully they mediated everything soon after I would def. come back, esp. on a late summer night

This restaurant gives you Cabo vibes with the outdoor seating. You have great views of the harbor and plenty of shade from the sun. My friend and I shared the Maryland crab fritters, roasted chicken, plantain fried rice, carne asada and shrimp tacos. The chicken was cooked perfectly as it was not dry and the black mean mushroom risotto was absolutely delicious. I loved the tacos as they were packed with plenty protein. The tacos were fairly large. The service here was 5 stars. Mason was kind, patient and made us feel very welcomed. He told us about Atlas restaurants groups rich history. Now this is not your typical taqueria or Tex Mex place. It's more elevated so you are paying for a premium experience.

My husband and I had an impromptu date night and decided to give Maximon a chance. I have heard many great things over the years about the restaurant and was very happy to finally give them a try. My husband an I had an all-around great experience and will return soon! The restaurant is kinda hard to find. It is located at the bottom of some fancy hotel. Better signage would be great to make the location easier to find. The ambiance within the restaurant was amazing. When you step-in, you feel like you have been transported out of Baltimore. There is also outside seating, but it was rather a cold nice, so we didn't take advantage. There was a live band preforming during our visit. The music wasn't overwhelming, it was a nice addition to match the already amazing ambiance. The service was amazing. Our waiter was efficient and friendly and offered suggestions when asked. The food was AMAZING!! Very tastefully and extremely flavorful. It is a bit on the pricier side, but the flavors were well worth the price.

Maximón is an absolute gem! The food was incredible--every dish was full of bold, fresh flavors, and beautifully presented. The seafood was very very fresh and one of the highlights from Maximón's raw bar was the yellowtail ceviche, the flavors are insane! I also enjoyed the Grilled Shrimp, Wild Blue Catfish Frito & Carne Asada Tacos, The Chicken Chicharrones, Tuna Tostados and Smoked Chicken Wings! The ambiance was warm and inviting, with stunning decor that made the experience even more special. I suggest going during sunset so you can catch the restaurant glowing and also enjoy the ambiance during the night. Service was also amazing Victor, our waiter, was very attentive and helpful. Dejon, one of the restaurant managers, also ensured that we had an amazing visit! This place is a must-visit, I have been a handful of times and never have any complaints or issues. Highly recommend!

Server Edwin was very nice. Enjoyed all the food but especially the fluffy pancakes! Love the vibes here

Sat outside for a quick drink. It gave the vibe of Mexico. Cabana like seating area outsi, trees/grass blowing and even an outside bar. I'll come back and try food. But, our waitress was def good the 2 times we saw her but she disappeared for a long time and never came back... eventually after swirling our heads around several times, another waitress came over to say she was pulled in the office :-/... then she took care of us.

Don't let the outside deceive you. Once you walk in you'll smell the fresh cilantro and chile. It took a bit to translate the menu, but you'll figure it out. There are plenty of options. The server helped us figure it out and we were set. I ordered the El pastor tacos, beans & rice, and tortilla chips. The tacos were theeee best! What I loved the most is that the corn tortillas didn't fall apart!!! I hate it when I go to eat a taco and it falls apart. They cooked the tortillas enough so they held up, but were still soft. Did I already say how good the tacos were?! Along with the meat is cilantro, some onions, and you can top it with some green chili sauce. Sooooo good! The pico de Gallo was some of the best I've ever had. I know what you're thinking. How could you go wrong with pico de Gallo? Yeah, I wonder the same thing, but this pico was FRESH with just the right ratio of tomato, onion, cilantro, etc. Next time I'll order two of them. The chips are restaurant-made. That was our first indicator that the food was going to be ALL that we hoped it would be. AND it was. The beans were pinto beans. Memories from home and the ultimate comfort food. The were cooked perfectly with just enough seasoning. The rice was perfectly cooked too. This is the taco spot you need to try.

It's there and cooked without oil immersion or the awful trap of terrible portioning. Here, the nutrients shine. And that is healthy. Price: Decent. Very Decent. Everything I bought there was roughly over 45 dollars (before the tipping) and keep in mind, the condiments and sauces were complimentary. For this quality and quantity? I definitely got my money's worth. Experience: Wonderful server. Even in a busy dinner cycle, she came over and literally started to hand me a menu almost right as I sat down. Even gave me a great recommendation for the Enchilada platter and brought the holster of extras over to the table as well. The food was delivered quickly, and the small details (utensils, cleanliness, chair organization etc.) were great. Taste: Honestly this place is a standout for seasoning. It's flavorful, unique, and skewed towards spices over oil. Tasteful impact, without the baggage. A gem. Even among so many other restaurants serving this cuisine in the area I've tried, this is a standout. I'll come eat here again. You should too. It's right next to Patterson park with so many parking spaces nearby. I'm gonna run here. Soon.
