The install crews were extremely efficient, clean, and thorough - we were always able to live in the place at the end of the day, and every bit of install looks immaculate. I understand the company disagrees with my review, but I was disappointed by the tone of their response and the implied pressure to remove it. Being told they would publicly respond and report the review to Yelp and Google if I didn't remove it felt unnecessarily aggressive and intimidating. Also in response to their comments below Thank you for confirming the exact root of the problem: you looked at a three-pane window, saw that only the middle section was currently foggy, and assumed I only wanted that single section replaced. As a professional window company, it was your responsibility to clearly state: "We see only the middle pane is failing, so this quote is strictly for one pane of glass, not the entire window unit you asked for." You didn't do that. You just wrote "1 glass replacement" on a quote for a "window replacement" request and expected a regular homeowner to know the technical difference. The fact remains: I asked for a window replacement. I provided a photo of the entire window. Other companies looked at the exact same information and managed to quote the entire three-pane unit for a price comparable to what you charged me for just the middle section. You can keep calling a customer's genuine financial frustration "deceptive" to protect your online rating, but your own responses show a complete lack of accountability. You made an assumption, failed to communicate it clearly upfront, and I had to pay the premium for it. Prospective clients can read this back-and-forth and decide for themselves if they want to risk dealing with a company that hides behind ambiguous quote terminology instead of practicing transparent communication. Unfortunately, due to some miscommunication during the quoting process, only the middle section was replaced. That was really frustrating because it made the overall cost much higher compared to other companies I had received quotes from. To their credit, they did offer to replace the remaining sections at a discount after I brought up the issue. However, even with the discount, the final price still ends up being significantly more expensive than competitors. Had everything been communicated more clearly upfront, I likely would have chosen a different company. The biggest issue for me was the lack of clarity during the quoting process. It felt misleading to realize afterward that the quote only covered one section instead of the full window I thought we had discussed. That said, I do want to give credit to the installation crew because they were excellent. They were respectful, worked quickly, kept everything clean, and did quality work. My frustration is mainly with the communication and quoting side of the experience, not the installers themselves.

I got bids, and was the most impressed with Danny L at Signature Windows. We had a tight deadline because the home was going on the market and access to the window, especially in the rain, was really challenging. Meeting the deadline, and the safety of the installers, were non-negotiable. Danny came out the very next day to measure the Window From Hell and, not only did he give me the best price, but his company was the only one that had all the scaffolding equipment readily available at no extra charge. The window arrived sooner than expected, and installation was quickly scheduled to meet the deadline. Then we hit a snag: some epic rain made the cedar roof too slippery for safe conditions. Brent and his crew of expert (and very brave) installers rigged up a safe way to haul this brand-new Mother of ALL Windows up to the second floor and install it using very long ladders, secure scaffolding, and harnesses. I think we had 4 or 5 installers for this job. It took all day to get the old Window From Hell out and the new Mother of All Windows installed. But what a job! Perfect caulk lines, perfect cleaning of the glass, perfect clean-up of the job site, indoors and out. Job done ON TIME, SAFELY, and at an excellent price. The Rheem estimate from the big box store was ridiculous; the teaser price went up by 50% once they actually itemized the install. Emerald City's came in comparable to our usual plumber, but with the added benefit of getting another Rheem instead of a different brand and adding an automatic shut-off in case of leaks. Emerald City partners with McClendon Home Services for the water heater installs. Jesse and Aaron were on time and professional. Jesse checked our meter at the street and explained why we didn't need an expansion tank and, in fact, why having one could unnecessarily increase our water bill. We now have a 10-year parts-and-labor warranty and peace of mind. We also got an estimate for windows, but unfortunately Emerald City doesn't currently provide exterior painting services. We still might loop back with them in the future for first-floor windows where we could paint the trim ourselves. Overall, we're happy with the communication, customer service, and value.

After the installation, Brightside returned to inspect the install to be sure it was done right and nothing was wrong. From start to finish the process was easy. I was so impressed that I told my neighbors but they just ordered from another company. Their windows were much more expensive, the install took 4+ days and it left unpainted trim for them to fix. Now that our windows are in we are even more impressed. As promised, the house is more quiet and the tint means more privacy. All the manuals, receipts, warranties, invoices, etc were emailed which made the process fast and I had proof every step of the way. The upgraded windows will certainly reduce energy costs throughout the upcoming winter and add overall value to the home. Our neighborhood seems to attract outside salesman, some are not great. WARNING TO HOMEOWNERS & SENIOR CITIZENS: Avoid Brightside Windows. They used predatory sales…read moretactics in our home and failed to provide mandatory physical copies of their cancellation forms as required by Washington State Law (RCW 63.14.154). Instead, they hid the cancellation details in an unmentioned digital link. My spouse is a stroke and brain surgery survivor, making a hidden digital link completely inaccessible. Meaning he didn't understand that he had to open the link and print the cancellation form, sign it and send it in within a 3 day window. They waited until he missed the three days and then called and threatened him with two options...either get the windows or pay a fine of 50% of the total contract. My spouse verbally canceled within 22 hours (before measurements or manufacturing even started), yet they tried to charge us a predatory 50% cancellation penalty. Thankfully, our lender (Momnt) saw through this and completely reverse-funded and closed the loan at a $0.00 balance. Now, Brightside's management team has failed to get back to us about their legal plans and refused to cancel the loan in writing while ghosting us. We have officially escalated this by filing a formal consumer protection complaint with the Washington State Attorney General's office. Do not let them into your home. By the way I was forced to give them a star in order to post this!
