I made an appointment for 11am for an oil change and inspection. This took 5 HOURS for a simple task. I'm not sure what the point of making an appointment was when my car was not even seen until 3pm. I understand staff shortage issues, etc. However if that is the case then appointments should be managed more effectively to reflect how long it will actually take. An oil change is a simple task. I can pull in an out in 30 minutes at Delta Sonic. I will not make the mistake of using Mavis again. read more

They quoted me a price from their call center when I got to the store the price was $50.00 more. The employees at the store were helpful in trying to resolve this issue but there wasn't anything they could do. This seems to be a company culture of deceit. I'll join the chorus of poor reviews. From the top: 1. There was a particular brand of tire on my SUV that (although wearing out) had performed well. According to the manufacturer, Mavis was a distributor. 2. I bring up Mavis' website. I'm able to purchase these tires, and schedule installation at a Mavis location that is convenient for me. 3. The quoted price was very competitive. Fortunately I had the presence of mind to take a screenshot to document my purchase, before committing. I'm glad I did, because the confirmation failed to detail the price quoted by Mavis. 4. I get to the store. The manager? (wearing a white shirt) confirms my appointment. I was not provided a work order to review (not a good practice). I presumed that because I booked the purchase through the Mavis website, that the price I was quoted was the price I would be paying. That was a mistake. 5. It took the shop nearly 4 hours to mount and balance these tires, and then perform an alignment. In the shop's defense, they only had 2 techs working in the shop, and that day was shaping up to be the hottest of the year (so far). 6. The manager informs me that my car is ready. I ask to see the final invoice (to check the prices charged). The manager claims he couldn't do that until I paid- - -I politely called B.S. on that --the manager showed me his computer screen instead. I couldn't make heads or tails what I was looking at. 7. I pay the bill, and am then provided an invoice. 8. Get back to my desk and compare the paperwork that was generated when I booked the appointment and tire purchase from the Mavis website. 9. Mavis overcharges me $40 per tire. 10. Both posted in the shop, and on my invoice is a promise by Mavis to provide 100% satisfaction. 11. I contact customer service and explain as I have detailed above--follow up with an email attaching my paperwork. 12. The regional manager (RM) calls me back the following day, agreeing with me that I was overcharged. For reasons I don't accept, the RM claims that the home office couldn't credit my CC back from their location--I needed to go back to the store. As between you and me, that's Horse-S*&t. How many times have you needed to return something, and the return is credited to your payment source, and all without the necessity of having to swipe that card again.. 13. The RM volunteered that he would advise the store manager (SM) that I would be coming by to have my refund processed. 14. The day I go back, the SM isn't there. His assistant (ASM), was busy in the shop looking down at his phone. It appears that the tech in the shop caught me looking at the ASM, who then looked up, then looked at me, then came into the customer service area. 15. Apparently the SM and ASM don't talk to one another--I needed to re-educate, and then I was getting friction. 16. The ASM then calls the home office who confirms what I told him..took him another 10 minutes to process the credit back to my credit card. I'm awarding 1 star because Mavis did correct their error (for which there is no excuse)- - -but I needed to waste my time and talent to correct an unforced error on their part. If the manager who wrote up my order had only taken the time to print a work order for me to review, Mavis' mistake could have been caught there and then. Bottom line. You have options (other than Mavis) as to where to purchase your tires. read more

A month ago they replaced my muffler for me. They said my exhaust would cost $1300 to fix and made me worry about it. I took it back, dropped the car off. They said we don't have the proper tool to fix it. Total waste of time and uber rides read more

I have been a customer at Mavis Tire Camillus for over 3 years. I've only had one issue as they were busy but they called me and explained the issue ( the same issues many businesses have, lack of help). Dave, who I believe may be the manager has always been kind courteous and the job has always been done perfect. For those who gave a low rating. Mavis website allows you to schedule an appointment. Customer service is in the toilet last time I took a vehicle there left it for 4 days and nothing was done. They told me they rotated the tires in those 4 days but no they did not. Terrible customer service. Today felt let give them a second chance. Took a tire and rim there to have it mounted. The desk attendant was the only bright point of the visit what a nice person her talents could be better utilized at a place that gives a s!!T. I give them a 2 star. Because the guy at the front desk was nice enough to work with. I brought my truck in to have them fix a mistake that was done after spending 1500 or more dollars on a new set of tires. My truck went down the road. Shaking like a leaf when I brought the truck back in. They wanted to charge me another $80 for the mounting and balancing. I got on the phone and called corporate. And the manager came out with a change of mind dropping my keys on the counter and said have a good day. I do, however, appreciate the fast service. A year ago I left a review with the same rating because of them taking over 5 hours for just new tires. Today I had a directly booked appointment with the store for an alignment. I brought it in and left for a bit expecting them to get it in. I come back an hour later expecting that since I had an appointment and wasn't a walk in, they'd have something at least started on it. Nope. Nothing. So I asked them what kind of timetable they had. They replied with 'they'll get to it when they get to it. It'll probably be a couple hours". I just took my keys back and left at that point. What's the point of making an appointment when it can't be honored? Last year, Mavis tried to rectify the situation, which I appreciated. ABSOLUTE WORST IN ROCHESTER! Had tires installed a month ago and tire pressure monitors in the back. Month later there was a rim leak in the back. Called he said I can get you in right now... we can look at it but you'll have to pay $27 (to fix the mistake they made) took me 4 minutes to get there. Said I'll get you right in. 20 minutes later I ask what the eta is he said it'll be at least 40 minutes till we get to you. ‍ Terrible customer service on top of doing terrible job the first time and way over charging. I was just gonna leave and tell my friends not to come here but after the second time now I'm telling everyone DONT GO HERE. Even the lady up front when I first had the tires done shrugged at me like she didn't understand why the manager was being a jerk. I wasn't going to write a review thinking it was going to be a quick in a out four tire swap. I added an oil change because we already had the appointment. Four tires for only $115 each for SUV tires; they even had cheaper. We first pulled in and one guy was maskless in front of the garages smoking. Didn't really see anyone wearing a mask besides the people in the office. One customer wasn't wearing one. Tried to up sell me new wipers. I bite and they never got put on. I wasn't charged for them so I didn't complain. After an hour into the tires they call and said I need rear brakes. I said no thanks just do the tires. I go and pick it up and the manager was screaming across the garage about four wheelers and then being "dumb mother f.....ers!". I mean I wasn't offended but come on people women and children come in and out all the time. A week later low and behold I get the old check engine light on. It just happened too many times. Take your car some place and all of a sudden it's making a noise or the engine light comes on. They also didn't reset the computer to indicate new oil or the new tires. Tires are good and for a decent price but I'd rather pay more and go somewhere less shady. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. SCAMMERS. I went for two new front tires and inspection (I know you should get all 4 replaced at once, but I couldn't right now). They called me 20 minutes after I dropped it off and said my rear tires will fail inspection so in order to pass I need to buy two more tires from them. They also said "your front right ball joint has some play, its safe to drive but not great so we can do that for $700 more if you want." I said I just got the ball joint fixed a couple months ago and I know when a ball joint is going bad it's very obvious when you drive, so no just do the front tires and that's it. So they did, and promptly failed my car's inspection. I'm very bad with cars, but even I could take 10 seconds to look at the rear tires in the parking lot afterwards and make a deduction here... I left the Mavis and drove DIRECTLY to the Delta Sonic up the road, didn't touch or alter the car in any way, and wouldn't you know....it passed. They are scammers and failed my car due to perfectly legal tires just because I wouldn't purchase two more from them. Also....a few years ago someone I know went there and they called to tell them "you won't believe this but your car is dead it won't start in the parking lot but we can replace the battery for $75." My friend told them no, push it into the garage, do the work and if it doesn't start when I get back then I'll have it towed. That friend still has not replaced that battery, because it was never dead. DO NOT EVER GO THERE. But if you do, make sure you're driving a car that's less than a year old so it's impossible even for them to fail the inspection. This is an easy 0 star review. read more

I called in advance for an oil change, I made an appointment. I get out of work at 5 o'clock, and it takes me 30 minutes to get there. They agreed to do an oil change at 5:30, and I was there before my appointment. As I spoke with the manager, he told me that the oil change cannot be done today because the last car gets in at 5. So why the hack you guys told me that you can service my car at 5:30 if you can't do it?!? It is so easy to say that you cannot service my car, so I can look for another place that can actually do it. Tomorrow I am going to another mechanic to do the oil change, and I don't know if I will service my car here again in the future. DO NOT GO HERE. I have never written a review in my life but these people are unethical at best, possibly criminal. Went in for my 11:00 AM inspection and was told it was a 5hr wait for an inspection. Luckily I work near by and could just walk back. I guess the appointment was worthless. Failed the inspection because of tires and brakes. I told them I would bring it back Monday. The guy then calls me back and says "We can SNEAK you through the inspection if you just get tires today." I say no thanks I either need brakes or I don't. Go to pick up the car and the man try's to scare me into coming back because if I take it to another shop "there are other issues they will fail me for". It's a 2018 civic not a 15 year old car, under 75K miles. Take it to another shop the next day and pass with flying colors. I ask about the breaks and tires at the new shop and the response was "They look good. Maybe before next year." Unbelievable. I will be filling out a formal complaint with NYS. SCAM ARTISTS. I will never go to another MAVIS. I feel bad for the staff at other locations who do things the right way and the bad name they get from a place like this. read more

The guys who work here are great. I called this morning because my wife had a flat tire on her way to work this morning. They were able to give me an account and fair quote over the phone. I was able to get there shortly after making the call and they got me in the shop in less then 5 min. I got up to walk around maybe 35 min later and the car was done and Jake the gentleman at the front desk called me right up. Staff was extremely polite and a pleasure to talk with. Jake was also extremely helpful with other customers with any questions or recommendations they needed. I would recommend this location to anyone. read more

On April 19th I had to go to the store on Maiden Lane and MT. Read because I had a cut in the side wall of my tire. The manager Marc proceeded to OUTRIGHT LIE to me. Doesn't even deserve one star! Brought our car in to get winter tires off and all season ones put back on with alignment. Was asked about oil change told them no just the tires. Got a call from one of the managers on duty -Jose about an hr after dropping it off telling me the back breaks needed to be done cause they were locked up due to hard stops. I had my husband call back and talk to mgr and told them it was too much money, he would do it himself. So after purchasing parts and taking car apart, back breaks were fine other than them stripping a lug nut which proceeded to break upon taking it off. Hence another scam going in as a female to a garage and they take advantage of you. I will be calling the BBB to let them know of our recent activity with this store. Buyers BEEARE!!! Ridge Road location. Terrible and tried to rip me off. Bought $1450.00 worth of performance tires - mounted, balanced, alignment - everything for my Mustang to get a great ride. At highway speeds there was a noticeable vibration. Brought it back within the first week, the manager said it was only the driver side tire that needed new weight block. Drove it for another week, same thing, vibration at highway speeds, only worse this time. Brought it back again, another different manager put it on the lift and did placed his hands on the tire at the 12 and 6 position and shook the tire back and forth. Came back and told me the ball joint was bad on the driver side front tire. Problem with this is the move he made actually is to check for tie bar wear/damage. From ball joint damage/wear you place your hands on the tire at the 3 and 9 positions. Tried to get me to spend $350.00 for ball joint replacement. I then took the car to a real mechanic (thanks Bob at Lefebre's) and he checked it out. Came back and said the tires weren't even close to be balance properly. He did the rebalancing and now the car drives at all speeds like a dream. But this was am extra $188.00 I never should have spent if Mavis did the work correctly. Don't go to chain stores for repairs or purchases - go to your local mechanics. I'll never make this mistake again. If I could give a zero star review I would. read more

Made an online appointment middle of the week for Friday for two tires to be replaced. Called to ask if can add alignment, was then told tires would not be at the store until Saturday afternoon (had I not called would have shown up Friday for nothing). Get there lot is a dangerous mess, cars blocking one way paths so having to reverse in v tight spaces. Get inside tell woman who is not even looking at me that I have an appointment, she goes dropping off? I said no I'll wait. She goes it's drop off only we usually close at 5 but we're staying late, can't get to it right now. So I ask her how would I know this information, she goes someone should have told you when you scheduled it, guess they forgot. So I go well forget it then, she goes ok and turns around and keeps working on whatever she was working on. This is good customer service? The LEAST she could have done was look at me and apologize, never again. Then I read the Google reviews, guess I should be thankful, looks like a lot of scams at this site. Any time I come to this mavis I'm serviced quickly and correctly. It seems they've been ridden of the people who weren't doing their job. I came straight here Saturday morning, expecting to wait more than an hour on an inspection. I was able to show up, without an appointment, waited about 35 minutes and was done. I went to their website, created log-in and everything, then selected tires and after an hour or so came up with a total of around $400.00 which was stated on the website as INSTALLED in shop. The so-called full shop-installed price was excluding taxes. Not a biggie. Then I made an appointment to accommodate them, showed up at the appropriate time and luckily asked them to confirm the total before proceeding. Turns out THEIR total was around $650.00 and did I bring the $10.00 coupon? I was flabbergasted. Turns out they only install with full alignment "separately charged and not shown on estimates" and supposedly I was getting a deal as that would typically be a per tire charge. Needless to say that I left on the spot. This kind of bait and switch is probably illegal, but more to the point, why even have the website with prices if in the end the cost can near double the stated price. I might have reconsidered, but the attitude I got from the representative was so abysmal (women and cars right), that I just left. I ended up calling another tire store, gave them my specifics and had an appointment the same day for a price that beat the original one quoted on Mavis' website. I am never going there again. Went to ridge road location to get 4 brand new tires on a Wednesday and explained I was going for my inspection on that Friday . They told me they would be checking my battery life, brakes, shocks, etc. 3 hours later my car is ready (who knew it took 3 hours to get 4 tires and a basic check) I go to pay they say everything was good to go and just needed to get a new rear view mirror (which I knew) So I go to Mavis on maiden this time since closer to my house for my inspection on Friday. I got in and out fast which was great until they FAIL MY CAR FOR THE BREAK PADS AND ROTORS. Complete surprise to me considering two days ago I was told everything checked out. His explanation to my absolute shocked face was "They are in driving condition but not NYS standard condition." Now why would I bring my car back two days later and pay for inspection when I just paid to get it serviced TWO days ago and was ok? I have been here a few times and have had a generally positive view of their products and services. The first time I came here I had just left another Tire store because they were pressuring me relentlessly to buy additional products. So, I was already a little on edge. I expected to be asked about additional warranties etc. but I felt they pushed a little too much. This was due mostly to a person who is no longer there. They gave me a good set of tires for a good price. When I had one go flat due to a faulty air valve a few weeks later, they replaced the valve and re-inflated the tire at no cost. The people at the front desk are courteous and helpful. I would go back again. read more

I drop my car off, I can't wait inside (which I understand) and the man at the desk tells me it'll be a few hours wait because there's two cars ahead of me. Weird. I have an appointment, maybe they're running behind? Oh well. That's annoying. I'm expecting it to be a little more than two hours because he told me each appt takes 45 minutes. I end up Ubering to get my husbands car from his work because I'm not going to wait outside in the hot sun for over two hours. I go home, I go to pick up the car with my husband at 6:15, which would've given them more than enough time that they shouldn't have even needed because I had an appointment. They tell me they haven't started and I'm next. I wait twenty minutes to see if they start working on it (in that time I see another car leave and a different car go into the shop), they don't, I leave and have wasted my day without any service. I would only recommend this specific Mavis (I've been to other good ones) to someone I hated whose day I wanted to ruin. read more

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES GO HERE! My horrible experience here started with just wanting to get my winter and summer tires switched. All was well i called in and got what i thought was an appointment, I'd never been and never realized it was first come first serve. I was greeted by a extra large black man who couldn't help but call me anything other than "boss". So when the had just started my car after after hour and 30 min past close i was irritated but had no where to be. I assumed everything went well and they even cut my bill in half for the wait. Great i thought! It was not great. The next monday i drove the car it shaked and jumped dangerously on my way to work, i take 390 and 490, it wasn't a fun experience. I make it there to find my side wall has started to separate a very dangerous situation. Fast forward later that day and I'm back at mavis and they see it and say they obviously installed them incorrectly. They start to offer me tire, just one, so i take a moment to find my old tires prices. The regional manager and sales person begin to discuss how they're only going to try to screw me the best they can, unbeknownst to them my gf is sitting in the lobby listening to this. I'm made aware of their conversation and i try to get 4 new tires. I like my sets but im perfectly happy if i could just have the same on front/rear. They wouldn't budge on 4 so i get 2. Im only going to pay 20$ for this whole mess so I'm not terribly upset. They say they have my tire in in 2 days. So 2 days later I'm back no tires and I'm told i got the salesman that called me boss fired because the mechanic told him my tires were defective, to which he told him to mount them and this wasn't relayed to me... AND my ties will arrive in 2 days.... well I'm back friday my tires are in and the store manager is giving me a hard time over me getting my new tires and mounting them for free. I didn't want to spend the 45 min it is going to take them to do my tires so me and the gf had across the street to bar louie (not a bad place btw). I got a call asking which tires id like to be front/rear and i asked them to place my extra in the trunk. My mistake. He seemed to not like this over the phoneas he was slightly taken aback by my request. I'd later find out they put the shovel through my perfectly good tire, ill let you guess why. We get back and they then proceeded to claim that they had no fault in the tires failure. Though my bead was mangled. So i got out of there as fast as possible. No more dealing with these shady people. I'd left there after 5 day, finding out it was their fault, the guy calling everyone boss's fault, to mine. I'd gotten two new tires to replace my two new tires. My car would pull aggressively all over the road when switching lanes until I'd ended going to dunn to have them correct whatever they could find wrong with mavis's install. Dont go! Had a great experience, especially for a larger mechanic shop Took my car in for a noise in the rear... I had recently bought tires from them so I was a little concerned it might have been a shoddy job. They gave it a test drive, took off all 4 tires and all within about an hour had found the issue. Turns out I had a loose hub bolt in the rear. So the tire job was flawless, and somehow the bolt had gotten loose causing the back tire to make noise and all it needed was to be re-tightened. The manager Bob and mechanic Tito, took me out and showed me the issue and explained everything, as well as a few other things that should get fixed soon. At checkout time they didn't charge me a thing, which was great. Even though the issue had nothing to do with the tire warranty they let the labor go for free. Thanks guys. read more
