I've gotten tires here for multiple cars over the years. Always got a good deal on great tires and right away service.

I purchased four new tires from Mavis and asked them to check my alignment since I had uneven tire wear on one of my old tires. They told me the alignment was "good" and didn't need any adjustment. When I got the car back, I noticed they had mounted one of the new tires backwards -- the "inside" marking was clearly facing out. Not trusting their assessment, I took my car to a different shop, and it turned out the alignment did need to be adjusted. I'm not sure if the workers here are incompetent or just lazy, but either way, this kind of carelessness is unacceptable. I won't be returning and would recommend going somewhere else if you want the job done correctly. read more

I just finished buying four new tires from this Mavis Discount Tire. It was a pretty disappointing transaction. My original appointment was two days ago. I had called the Mavis store nearest me, and they told me that they didn't have the tires I was looking for. They located them at a Mavis 17 miles away and set an appointment for later that day . I arrived two minutes before the appointment time and then sat in the waiting room for more than an hour waiting for them to begin. At that point, the manager came out and told me that they didn't have the tire that I had specified, and that they were unable to find it locally. He persuaded me to accept a different tire, which was available but not that day. He set an appointment for two days later and promised me that he would personally go and pick up the tires and that he would call me to confirm that he had them. He didn't call so eventually I called him and confirmed that he had them in his possession. We affirmed the appointment time for the next morning. I arrived at six minutes prior to the appointment time. He told me that mine would be the next vehicle to be serviced and that I should be out of there within 45 minutes. I thanked him and began to wait. For an hour and 15 minutes. At that point, he told me that they were going to start installing the new set of tires. After another 20/30 minutes, he came out and told me that they were on the final step of the installation process, and that I could pay so as to avoid having to do it once the entire process was over. I did. Then I waited for another half hour for them to actually finish the installation. My reaction is that I got a good deal pricewise, but that I was reamed from a service point of view. For many years Mavis's Webster location was my go to repair shop for the work I needed done on my cars and didn't want to tackle myself. They were honest, fair and the price and quality of their work was decent. Not any more. Several repairs that have been done on my cars recently have been poor, one requiring a second visit. So Stephan went over my options and the costs. No pressure to buy the most expensive ones and I felt he was honest telling me which were the best deal: the middle priced ones! I knew my tires were coming to the end of their usable life, so I'd been shopping brands/prices/locations for a few weeks when I decided to order and have installation done at the Webster location. I called in my reservation, fwiw, and the employee who helped me was patient and friendly. We got the whole thing accomplished quickly by phone, and he was even helpful when I was waffling about whether to get an oil change or not. He did NOT push me, only offered some guidelines (fully synthetic v blended - this makes a difference). Same day as original call I got a call back from the office saying the tires would not be here for an extra day, can I reschedule? they are apologetic, we get it rescheduled very easily. Day of install, everyone is friendly and professional. They do the install plus alignment and oil change within the 90 minutes they quoted me. Car was returned to me in clean shape (I cannot say that about a lot of shops who leave you with an oily steering wheel). Pulled out whatever offers were currently running to help me save a few $ in the process - I'm always grateful when I'm facing a large bill (4 new tires plus alignment is not a small deal at ANY shop). I'd happily recommend this shop to anyone. It's my 3rd or 4th time going to Mavis for various maintenance items and I'm always happy I did so. read more

My elderly father who always did his own car repairs for the past 50+ years brought his vehicle to mavis now that he has cancer and can't physically do it himself. In January 2024, my father bought 4 new tires from mavis by March 2024 the inside tires were showing threads. By March it was all new management but no one would return his call. Three weeks later and after he bought new tires from another location, finally the regional manager Matt called back. They said they'd make it right next time they needed tires. June 2024 his other vehicle needs tires, so he tried calling. No one knows anything or will return phone calls. I bought a set of four tires a few years ago from Mavis. My car did not come with a spare, so when one started losing air, I had to deal with it promptly. I called the Webster Commons location at noon and was told to bring it in right away. The problem was rim corrosion. They cleaned up the rim, rebalanced the tire, and remounted it. I was on my way by 1:00PM. And the cost? FREE! That's impressive service. read more

From my husband's experience at Mavis Tire today: Horrible experience with this tire installer at 44 Webster Commons Boulevard. I left without my tires being installed. Do not recommend giving any of your hard-earned money to this location. If you care to hear why, read on. I ordered tires online to be delivered from Goodyear with an appointment time to have them installed. When I arrived at the store and checked in, they couldn't find my name in their system. I was asked for my order number which was also wasn't in their system. I was told rudely told that my order must be at another installer location and was essentially shooed away. I tried to show the clerk my order details, which clearly showed I was at the right store, but he refused to even look at it and again insisted I made a mistake and belonged at the other location. I haven't been this rudely treated in a very long time, if ever. I couldn't believe that Goodyear mixed up the locations so I called the other Mavis location which confirmed that they didn't have my tires but told me to remind the clerk to check their Goodyear orders. Before I could, however, the rude clerk barked at me from the office to come back, and sure enough, he'd found my order, but had the nerve to blame me for not specifying it was a direct order from Goodyear, apparently forgetting my previous attempts to show him all my paperwork to that effect. No apologies, no mea culpa, just asked for the keys and ran off to the garage without any explanation of how long this would take or what would be done. While waiting outside, I started getting the feeling that I didn't trust these guys with my car. I peeked in the garage and the same clerk had my hood up and was prodding around my engine. Immediately I inquired what he was doing and reminded him that I was simply here to have my tires changed. The clerk said they check all kinds of things on every car. At this point, I don't know what this place is doing to my car. I told him to stop any work and return my car to me. Having tires installed somewhere else. Beware of scams. Read through untill the end because they were caught scamming me TWICE on the same job! I brought my car in for an inspection. I was told I needed front brake pads and front rotors and rear brakes (no rear rotors). I didn't think the fronts were bad so that was a surprise. I have done my brakes before so Im familiar with what the wear levels look like. Oh well, they won't pas my inspection so it looks like I need brakes now... I asked for a tire rotation as well. They needed my car for full two days for some reason... dropped off Thursday and it wasn't ready until saturday. They never even called me to tell me the car was ready. I had to call them. Wife picked the car up. When she got home I noticed they didn't change the front rotors and they didn't change the front brake pads even though both were charged on the receipt. The tires werent rotated either. I marked the tires so i definitly know they were not rotated. I brought my car back in on Monday morning to complain. The reciept clearly said front brake pads and front rotors and they simply didn't replace them or touch them at all. What a scam. I made the person at the front desk come and check and even while we were inspecting the car he insisted they were new brake pads. He went as far as making up a story about how there were black markings on the rotors before and the new pads already wore away those markings proving that the pads had to have been new. I got out a flashlight and showed him the rust on the back of the pad and you can clearly see the pad was at least 3/4 the way worn down. Finally admitted that the pads weren't changed and said they made a mistake with the rotors and it was really the back rotors that needed to be replaced. I was skeptical about the back rotors but at least the car has new rotors on one axle now. They said they would do a "warranty claim" for the front brake pads...uhh I already paid for the pads so where exactly did that money go then if they were calling this a brake pad warranty issue? They needed to keep the car over night again to do the brake pads they were supposed to have already done. I asked to make sure they actually rotated the tires. Again they never called me to tell me it was ready. I had to call them. They were supposed to leave the keys in the car and lock it so I can pick the car up. The keys are not in the car and the store is closed. I checked the tires and the tires still aren't rotated. This place is ridiculous. read more

So, back in April I took my car to Mavis on Webster Commons Blvd to get an alignment and two new tires in the back. I work for a transportation company with our own fleet mechanics on site and they will occasionally do some work on employees cars for a much lower fee. We don't have the machine here to do an alignment, but they stressed how bad it was and how dangerous the tires were because of it. So, I took it in. On April 13, I spent $743.44 for the alignment and 2 new rear tires. Last week, the guys at work are looking for something else and my co workers goes "I thought I told you you needed an alignment! This is unsafe! look how bad your tires are! You can't drive your kids around like this!" So, naturally I am pissed since I just paid a boatload of money to have basically nothing done. I emailed Mavis corporate office and asked them to make it right. I get a canned response saying it could be 48 hours before anyone gets back to me. Okay, I can wait 2 days. A week goes by and nothing. I notice my car is not handling well and I hear some squeaking when I turn. I know it's really bad. So, I call Mavis. Right off the bat it does not go well because I have to repeat myself several times for guy (who never gave me his name) to hear me. I start speaking in a much louder volume and pronounce my words more precisely so he can better understand me and then he accuses me of having an attitude and says I won't get anywhere with him if I can't be nice. Now, for the record, I was being nice. Firm and direct sure, but I was not at all nasty. This set me off, I told him if he kept accusing me of having an attitude I could catch one real quick and it won't end well for him. I then realize I am not going to get what I need from him if he already thinks I have an attitude. So, I told him to have the day he deserved and hung up. I then call the other Mavis store in Webster and ask for the regional manager info. That person was great, took my info, looked up my account, and said he would have the regional call me back. After 24 hours with no call back, I had my fiancée call again on my behalf. I guess a male voice is easier to understand than a female voice because suddenly they can get me in tomorrow, but wouldn't commit to fixing or replacing anything. read more

I had no call from the store for cost estimate. after several call I was told that sturts need to be changed but wrong part was ordered . I took my whole week end plan ruined and I did get my car fixed. the cost was tripled. with no prior authorization job was not done properly that did not fix my brakes even after spending money. read more

I made an appointment here for the next day at 11am and informed them in detail what was going on with the car. When I got there the next morning, there was only 2 cars being worked on and a completely empty parking lot. Dropped off my keys and was told I would receive a call in half an hour with an estimate which seemed reasonable judging by the lack of cars being worked on. An hour later I did not receive a call so I called back and was told they were just starting work on my car. 3 hours later. called again, and someone different picked up and told me again that my car was next to be worked on. I let him know that is what i heard 2 hours ago but he said he'll call me back. NOTHING! Then finally at 4:30 I decided to see for myself what was going on instead of getting the run around on the phone. Basically my car was parked exactly how i left it 5 hours ago and there were now 5 cars being worked on. I got some story as soon as i walked in about how the mechanic that was assigned to my car had an accident and went home. Didn't argue, I picked up my keys and will bring it to another place tomorrow. I will never bring it to this franchise garbage garage again!!! They basically wasted the entire day and prevented me from getting it fixed from another shop. If they told me on the first call what the real status was you could have avoided this one star review. Unfortunately they didn't have the specific tires in stock until Tuesday, but that was no problem and they worked with us on the price as we had been mistakenly given a much cheaper price than the actual tires were worth. The store manager was great and got us in right away Tuesday. My son loves the waiting area as there are a bunch of learning and sensory toys available. When corrected, they tried blaming me for not giving them the information I tried giving them earlier. After the details were sorted, I did not feel confident in them working on my vehicle so I left. I am a repeat customer of Mavis, and I have never had a bad experience with their service before. However, after today, they have lost my business. On Wednesday, I booked an appointment with Mavis Discount Tire for an early Sunday appointment for a tire rotation and a new tire purchase for my girlfriends car. I decided to go with Mavis because they had been of assistance with my stepdaughters car when she needed a new tire put on due to a flat tire a few months back. On the day of the appointment, I dropped the car off right at 9AM and spoke with the person at the front desk and provided them with the car keys and went over what I wanted done with the vehicle and they said that they would call me when it was done. At 2PM, after having not heard from Mavis, I decided to give them a call to inquire about the status of my girlfriends vehicle, and was told that it would be done "within the hour" by the manager. At 4:30PM, my girlfriend and I decided to head over and saw that the car was in the garage, but was not lifted, and I asked what the status with the vehicle was with the manager, and he said that the car was being finished up on with the work. So I told him that my girlfriend and I would wait for it to be done. At 5:05PM, my girlfriend and I witnessed the car being put up on the jack and work had started to be done on it, and at 5:10PM, I received a call from Mavis (as I was still sitting in my rental vehicle in the parking lot of Mavis) as they were inquiring what work I wanted to have done with the vehicle. I notified them that I had requested a new tire purchase for the front two tires when I had confirmed the appointment, and the manager had asked me if an associate had went over the tire options with me, to which I replied that they had not. I decided to go with the Mavis tire option as I wanted the car to be done as quickly as possible, as I was beyond frustrated with the 8+ hour wait. The manager said that he would take $25 off of each tire as an apology for the wait. As much as I appreciate that gesture, Mavis has permanently lost my business as a repeat customer, and I will no longer be going back there. For a tire change to take 8+ hours, especially one that was a booked with a confirmed appointment, is absolutely unacceptable. read more

My teenager took his car to Mavis location at in Webster New York @ 44 Webster Commons Blvd. to have the brakes inspected. They told him everything looked fine and sent him on his way. A few weeks later after multiple thruway commutes, he was traveling at 50mph when his vehicle began to shake. He pulled over and 3 of 5 lug nuts on the passenger side were just about off and the wheel was incredibly loose. He had to tighten everything up in the dark on the side of the road at 10:30pm. It disturbs me to think what could have occurred. I spoke with manager this morning who didn't seem too concerned. I ended up taking my son's vehicle to a competitor to have them inspect and tighten lugs on all wheels. We will NEVER visit Mavis again. read more
